hello, thought I'd give a couple of helpful websites for those who aren't sure about labour pains/bh and don't want to end up being monitored in hospital (like I did after a bit too much raspberry leaf tea )

foetal positions - also has difference between BH and labour (plus lots of other useful stuff)

early labour mistakes

rifht question

have just bought dd a lamp on vertbaudet website only takes 10 w will this be light enough for her to read with?

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 08/12/2008 17:00

depends, a 10 watt energy effient bulb is quite bright and equiv to a much higher normal bulb

LenniEd · 08/12/2008 18:08

Thanks for those links FLF - found the natural birthing site really useful. Think it would be useful for first timers with the tips on early labour - I was stuck in hosp anyway when labour started but was def guilty of not resting and relaxing enough when having early contractions.

Off out for tea now, DD having a sleepover with GPs and I'm planning on an early night and a lie-in tomorrow morning. Then mw at 9am, without DD - now that will be a treat!!

Hope you all have relaxing evenings.

MM - am thinking on you. Hope you and DH and DS's are ok and DH managed to get to the GP. Let us know you are ok when you can. Get well soon.

I invested all my nesting energies in my xmas tree when I had DD - it was the most hideous creation you could imagine this years in very overdecorated but a bit more traditional than my silver monstrosity that I did 2 years ago!!

Spink · 08/12/2008 18:51

I'm celebrating after a lovely mw appt - baby is head down and 4/5ths above brim so looking good!! Yay, thank goodness for spinningbabies.com!

Dh is in bed feeling sick, the living room looks like a 21month old has hit it and the undecorated Christmas tree is looking at me accusingly. Not sure if I'm feeling festive enough to tackle it today.. and need to be creative with decorations as have to be ds-proof.. any tips?

tomorrow ds is at nursery and I'm on my 2nd day of maternity leave. What should I do with my free time?!! any suggestions? Should be packing my hospital bag I guess but NO WAY
In the eve I am going for a massage and eyelash tint - pressie from my work colleagues was a voucher for a lovely local health spa....

sending lovely evening vibes to everyone

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 08/12/2008 18:58

hi spink gr8 news with baby.
i would spend time relaxing on the sofa with the tv on

qumps · 08/12/2008 21:17

happy happy message from spink! take it you are loving the mat leave. yay to head down. no tree safety tips from me. so far ds keeps taking the baubles off and kicking them across the floor shouting ball and has even put the odd fairy light in his mouth
my doc appointment went well too. he said baby has dropped down and aches and pains are nothing to worry about. he said what you need is a baby! keep flitting between wanting him to arrive today to wanting a bit more time to rest and prepare and spend with ds.
mad because mil came round and the first thing she said was oh can you believe *** went out of strictly (censored just in case some not seen it). i was gutted as had yet to watch but cried again when eventually did.
do we think moosemama might have had a nother little moose?

qumps · 08/12/2008 21:18

oh and i have a nursery day tomorrow spink too - yay! lets syncro tv watching!

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 08/12/2008 21:45

what shall i do?

have just ordered this lamp

www.vertbaudet.co.uk/baby-nursery-maternity-clothes/Girls-Bedside-lamp.aspx?ProductId=V703193019&Doc umentId=V389&CompanyId=V&Path=2823/2895&source=

only takes 10 w bulb will that be sufficent for dd to read with.
wanted to get a lamp that she could use to read by when she gets up in the morning but not too strong as to wake the baby!
wasnt sure if it meant that u could use a energy efficent 10 w

Periwink · 09/12/2008 08:46

Qumps - my husband did not come up with the idea of booking me in for the treatments, my cousin who organised the shower told him he needed to book me treatments that lasted an hour and a half. Seriously you need to throw some major hints for your Christmas wish list this year!!!!

Periwink · 09/12/2008 08:48

Spink - great news about baby!

Anyone else having dreams about giving birth?

MsSparkle · 09/12/2008 08:50

Morning,

Well yesterday i tried to phone my midwife but her phone was switched off. She was obviously on duty. So i phoned the antenatel unit at the hospital and they told be to go in just in case and be checked out.

They think it may be a urine infection. Unfortunatly though, the only on call doctor they had yesterday was stuck in an emergency c-section so after waiting many hours, i went home. They told me to see my gp today which i am doing this afternoon.

I have woken up with a nasty headache this morning and the dull period like ache is back I feel dreadful but glad i can see the doctor later.

MsSparkle · 09/12/2008 08:51

She was obviously off duty

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 09/12/2008 09:20

poor sparkle; hope they sort it out for you! Spink, well done on spinning that baby. I, too, have been hanging off the sofa and managed to get mine head down. Bit of a pain in the hands though! GP went well so hopefully paperwork will come through this week and I'll be booking in at the other hospital next week.

No dreams about giving birth yet, though have had some pretty disturbing ones, in between shifting pillows from side to side and grumping at DH in the night. Think he prefers sleeping with DD and has hinted pretty heavily that he might move in to her room

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 09/12/2008 09:21

right. off to work for final day in office (well, getting as far as the foyer to meet the girls for lunch )

Spink · 09/12/2008 09:30

urgh MsS sounds horrible to be waiting all that time, feeling rough and then not even be checked out properly. Hopefully you can get treated for the UTI and feel much much better soon..

Spink · 09/12/2008 09:36

tink - could you call customer services and find out if you can use an energy eff 10w bulb? That will be bright enough to read by but an old style one probably wouldn't..
dh (he is being wise this morning ) reckons your newborn won't be bothered even if the light is quite bright. I think this is a precursor to us not having blackout blinds fitted!

Periwink - no dreams of giving birth but have had dreams of having a new teeeeeny baby. It is very convenient, skipping the labour part, no?

qumps · 09/12/2008 10:12

no dreams here at all as ds decided to wake at 3. gave milk, calpol (sore teeth) and cuddles but at 5 he threw the tantrum of all tantrums. hurled bottle, hit me, banging head against cot. upset me so much i cried. dh was brill and brought him downstairs and eventually calmed him down. fell back asleep at 6 until 8 and he is at nursery today thank goodness as not sure i could have coped. did warn nursery but as soon as we arrived he smiled and kissed and cuddled everyone. little bugger .
tink sorry no idea about bulbs. agree ring customer services or if not try it when it arrives and if not good then send it back. am thinking about getting something for our bedroom to bf by without having to turn on bright lamp.
mss poor you. hope all ok today. think uti clear up pretty quickly so hopefully you will feel better soon.
flf enjoy your lunch. have christmas dinner with girls on fri so need to get hair done this week. seems to grow at an astounding rate when pg and roots are awful.
periwink 10 yeasr on and i have tried every hint going. i tell him what i want, send pics to email, leave catalogues lying around but he still insists on a suprise. we row pretty much every christmas but usually results in a great present for my bday in march .

rrrayray · 09/12/2008 10:27

missSparkle Thinking of you today, let us know how it goes.

FLF Enjoy last day!!!!

periwink No dreams about giving birth my end....yet!

spink Fantastic news about baby position.

Has NCT class last night, very useful, more about looking about a newborn, as been very focused on labour to date. Was Astonished with OH, don't know if you remmeber my grumble about him being disinterested, well this weekend was his xmas do, only got home yesterday afternoon (it was sat AND sunday all the way down in bournemouth!!) and i was ALL ready for an argument of him not comning... Well he didn't blink an eye lid about coming, and actually TOLD me off at one point for whispering in his ear as he was "trying to concentrate."

I think its really dawning on him thats its only 6 more Weeks till i'm due!!! (exactly TODAY!!) and he keeps saying hes ready to meet her!!! Cute!!

rrrayray · 09/12/2008 10:28

Oh & anyone else bought a homepathic birthing remedies kit? Mine arrived this morning, full of arnicca and such. Very pleased with it.

Off to do BIG food shop & get things like lucozade and glucose Tablets for bag... so all ready to go!

qumps · 09/12/2008 10:29

bless him rrayray. did they do the thing where they make them change a doll with fake poo in the nappy? dh got collared for that and his face was a picture.
3 weeks today i will have a baby!

qumps · 09/12/2008 10:38
