Peri how lovely!!! Enjoy the fuss

I am a swollen fingered thing, even my arms feel tight. Legs ok though, very odd. MY BP is normally very low 90/50 so i may phone the midwife later for a check.

I have the twins home today, bith fukk of cold. Hoping dh gets back at lunchtime so i can still take the younger 2 boys to their toddller Xmas party.

I am not sleeping well either like most of you. It is so tiring tossing and turning to try and get comfortable and then realising i have to get up and get them all ready for school at 7!

We have the Christmas tree up!!!! It is the epitome of kitch tackiness and i love it

fourlittlefeet · 08/12/2008 10:22

LG&T thank you. Not that I'd wish it on anyone else its horrid! Hope your swollen fingers auger nothing grim... I'm off to the gp today to finally change hospitals so fat fingers crossed it will all go well!

MsSparkle · 08/12/2008 10:28

I am getting period like pains constantly right now. I wouldn't have thought it was early labour pains though because i thought they came every x amount of time rather than constantly? I will see how it goes in the next few hours.

largeginandtonic · 08/12/2008 10:31

MsSparkle phone the midwife! Let her know what is going on. They may ask you to go in and be monitored. Is probably just BH but worth getting checked

FLF have all fat fingers crossed!!!

qumps · 08/12/2008 10:33

fat fingers here too but 36 week check today so will mention along with bh. no doubt doc will tell me all in my head because i want baby to come early.
painfully decorators back today as have to touch some bits up and repaint the ceiling. meant moving all the furniture last night and i can hear decorations falling off the tree as we speak while he moves it around. argh!! hoping that come the weekend house will finally be finished.
flf great that you are finally changing hospitals. hope all goes well today.
lennied boo to poorly children. ds stayed at nannys last night and she said he is a bit hot. had a cold for 2 weeks but no temp just snot so will take him to docs with me today and hope they are in a nice mood to check him over too.
yay to baby shower you lucky thing periwink. i had one first time round but to get me out of the house rather than send me for some yummy treatments dh took me to the dump! as you can tell he is great at romance my dh.... not holding out much hope for christmas. last year he got me some flash cleaning block and some stuff from the body shop which i wouldn't even get his grandma. nye we had a huge row as i bottld up my annoyance until then with lots of i'm fines!
moose not heard from you for a while. hoping its because you are busy and that all is ok.
rrayray how was your girls night out? have mine this fri but at least one of my good friends is preggers to so we can be fat and boring together.

MsSparkle · 08/12/2008 10:33

I thought about phoning the midwife but don't want to make a fuss over nothing. Never had period like pains before. I thought i would wait and if it's still like it in an hour i will phone the midwife?

qumps · 08/12/2008 10:34

twinges everywhere. so exciting!!!

rrrayray · 08/12/2008 10:34

Periwink- Facial and baby shower sound absolutely Lovely!!!

Have had a mad weekend, OH due back from Bournemouth soon, having had their boys xmas do down there! Hope none of you live down that way & weren't greated by a pink panther in the early hours of this morning (they were in fancy dress!!!!)

tink My baby too is VERY VERY low, i've only had one bout of heartbearn and it was nothing compared with what some seem to be experiencing.

Last night Beanie stuck her leg RIGHT out and i managed to take a picture on my phone & Text to OH

  • looked like little alien... he was very sad to miss it. She was also Booting my Hand it i poked her foot. Lovely little game!

FLF - Sorry can't really help you with the wet knickers/pad situation... Although one thing my midwife said at parent craft is when you get as far along as us, that you can Wee yourself with out realising. To which if course i screwed my nose up, i mean how could you not realise you passed urine, but she said if the baby elbows of kicks the bladder suddenly you can expell some without even realising anything. She said, like you have, to use a pad, and if within an hour its at all damp- then you should be reporting to your midwife to check your membranes aren't slightly ruptured. Like the others said, probarly nothing, but just thought i'd share what MY midwife said.

Right off to clean... Got 2nd to last NCT class tonight, and midwife Wednesday! x

how many weeks are you mssparkle?
may as well phone just incase.

MsSparkle · 08/12/2008 10:38

Am 36 coming up 37 weeks. Due date is Dec 31st.

fourlittlefeet · 08/12/2008 10:39

oooh labour vibes all round. someone has to go first . At least 5 of the december thread popped in November.

Spink · 08/12/2008 10:40

sounds like a good idea MsSparkle. Constant pains could be early labour, they might only start to feel like separate tightenings later on...

LenniEd, what about yours?

LG&T can we see your tree please? It must be time for new phots on profiles

I have two questions.
Is everyone washing the new baby clothes they are buying? I did for ds but now am wondering if it is a bit over the top...

bum. I've forgotten the 2nd question.

qumps Pleased to hear you had some decent time with your dh.

Flf hope it goes well at the hospital!!

I'm seeing the mw later today to talk about the hb. I've no exciting symptoms to report and hoping baby will be head down eeeek.

moosemama been thinking about you - have things settled down at home?

MsSparkle · 08/12/2008 10:46

Spink i didn't wash any of the new clothes when i had dd.

elkiedee · 08/12/2008 10:56

Quick post to say hi all

CM needed the day off today so I've taken day off with ds, it's about 6 months since we've had a day alone together, since dp's last weekend shift. I did take time off to take him to the GP with what turned out to be an allergic rash, but he got referred to the hospital and at that point dp decided to cancel all his meetings and rush up there.

So far he's made me bring his entourage of SEVEN soft toys downstairs (I blame dp for this) and we've done some vacuuming and watching CBeebies. He's only really scared me a couple of times, when he threw the gang of 7 out of his cot and when he turned the TV off at the mains and I didn't notice he was playing with the plugs (bad mummy!) I'm going to see if I can get him out to the toy library for a bit now.

37 weeks counts as "term" rather than premature so it's very likely some of us will find Christmas is a bit different from what we expected. Hopefully not me but I have to take my yellow (antenatal notes) book with me to Ilkley.

ooh elkie... on ilkley moor bartat. have it in Ilkley!! you will have a song for life!

qumps · 08/12/2008 11:05

spink i didn't wash any new clothes either as i am rubbish at washing and they never look the same as when new. have washed all ds hmd's though in fairy non bio. unfortunately all the stuff i liked best was stained and had to be thrown out. trip down memory lane. have kept ds skeleton babygro from halloween when he was 6 months even though i know bump wil never wear it!
did anyone else have hysterical crying fit at x factor on sat? have not watched strictly yet from last night so don't tell me what happened!!

rrrayray · 08/12/2008 11:20

spink laughing at forgetting of second Question. Sums me up right now- preggy brain! Thanks for asking about the clothes washing, its something that had totally slipped my mind. I don't know if i will or not.. Sounds awful, but do people really think its necessary? as i would really rather not- Alot of Faff.

Elkidee i bet your right, i think there will be some Christmas babies. Although i'm shooting for first week in january! (EDD 20th jan)

missSparkle i have had BH the last week & they have been very period painy, but have come and go. But on thursday i had a very dull period pain ache Constantly for about 2 hours.... sorry for TMI next.... i then had a rather "funny/runny" tummy. So i think it was maybe something i ate, once i had used the toilet (albeit several times) i was much more comfortable. How long have you been having the pains? I think your plan of action sounds spot on... if its still there in an hour -- call your midwife. My midwives have been banging on and on to try and get the point accross its MUCH better to worry about nothing, than not worry about something. One of them said something which was quite sweet.... "Don't worry, if it turns out to be nothing...Its your time you'll be wasting, not ours, we have to be here anyway! Worse case senario is its nothing, your a bit embarssed, but bubba is fine!!!

Qumps i havent actually watched X factor yet.... although couldnt avoid being told who went. Will watch when have a min..... but am expecting free fall of tears!

fourlittlefeet · 08/12/2008 11:38

it was not wee. it was not wee. it was not wee.

ray I'll join you in the first week of Jan, am thinking the 4th. Maybe we should do some cosmic ordering and put our Cosmicduedates (the ones we want) on the list of EDD's! Mind you, I did this last time; was virtually the last one due in my NCT group, went to lunch with them all at 38 wks and said 'right I've had enough of this, I want to be first'. Sure enough, that afternoon was sent into hospital with advance pre-eclampsia and told I was coming out in two parts . Had her by c-section 2 days later. . sooo... moral of this story is definitely be careful what you wish for. Mind you, this time round I'm happy to wait end of Jan if it means a healthy VBAC so that takes priority!

Periwink · 08/12/2008 11:46

Fourlittlefeet - yah for tree - mine is also up and decorated. I too am getting white discharge but have not gone as far as using a pad yet - it does feel like I have wet myself but haven't.

Periwink · 08/12/2008 11:52

I have washed all my baby clothes ....

I am hoping my baby is not late - do not think the skin on my belly can cope with the extra week of stetch!

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 08/12/2008 12:03

hi all

feel too tired to read everything

lots of people getting twinges here

watched dd in nursery show today she was an elf it was lovely

LenniEd · 08/12/2008 15:25

Lots of discharge here too - not pleasant.

Well no sleep again last night, this time pains went away by time I went to bed but was up all night feeling really anxious and having loads of nightmares when I did get to sleep. Think the last few days have made me worried that if baby comes quicker than expected we really aren't ready. So nursery being decorated on wednesday and have half packed my hospital bag. Still a hormonal wreck and keep sobbing to myself but think that is just lack of sleep. Puffy fingers here too - am going to see midwife tomorrow or Thursday (can't get through to get an appointment ) so hopefully will stop worrying about pre-eclampsia then god I'm a wreck. Need some sleep!!!

My DD was born 28/12 so really could do without an xmas baby!!! But have to say it was the most lovely christmas of my life when she arrived, despite spending xmas day - 29th in hospital!

LenniEd · 08/12/2008 15:32

Spink - I am washing new clothes but not DD's old ones. Depends on whether you have skin allergies/ezcema in the family on whether it is overkill but the reason new clothes feel lovely and soft is all the biological fabric softener that is used on them to make them feel lovely and silky in shops. DH and I are both allergic to biological washing powder so chances are our offspring might be too. DD has had ezcema (but then only mildly and think most babies get a bit at some point) so I tend to air on side of caution. That said, there is a school of thought that you are better to expose them to things to reduce chances of more serious skin conditions later in life.
