misdee · 15/11/2008 17:42

yay monkeym! keep going. cant they get another midwife out to you as well as traineee one?

saw my midwife yesterday, she said if i had hung on for a couple of hours she would've delivered sophie.

ChocOrange05 · 15/11/2008 17:48

Sparkle I had to wait until the ctx were 5 mins apart lasting a min for 3-4 hours to call the MW??? I was a bti confused by that because surely everyone is different!!

misdee · 15/11/2008 17:49

lol choc, if i had done that, then midwife wouldnt have had time to set up, it would've been 'gloves on and catch'

sparkletoes · 15/11/2008 17:58

Really ChocO?? MW wouldn't have made it to me either then!

Am quite by that even for a first birth... am sure if Monkey calls they will keep her right tho.

Hi all! Thanks for your messages. Have finally got hold of my usual MW - the 2 MW's on call are attending births already, so she is going to come out to me. Not yet though - she said as I can still talk, I have plenty of time.
Will kee u updated!!

sparkletoes · 15/11/2008 18:08

Oooh exciting MonkeyM!! Major vibes comin attcha girl!

OP posts:
ChocOrange05 · 15/11/2008 18:11

Yeah - I thought it was a bit strange but I think cause I was a first timer she assumed it would be plenty of time. To be fair she did say I could call at anytime I thought I needed them so I was ok with it.

Good luck Monkey we are all rooting for you and MiniMonkey!

sparkletoes · 15/11/2008 18:18

Yeah you just have to keep in contact with them there is no set time you can really go on as different for everyone. And then different again if you are 1st/2nd timer and again if HB or hospital!

Am soo excited for you MM! (yet sending calming vibes no adrenalin!)

vbab Gorgeous photo of you and your children - you look so well and happy

Have had a lot of bloody show over the last couple of days but not much else. (no ctx or niggles - bah) Dh has got sunday and monday off so going to make the most of our last babyless days off together

Hope evryone else is having a lovely weekend!

really excited for you monkey

chocolategal · 15/11/2008 19:27

just popping on again to catch up with monkeys progress!

so happy for you that things are on track for your HB

ceebee74 · 15/11/2008 19:33

Monkey how exciting for you - good luck will be keeping my fingers crossed for a straightforward quick birth for you!!

Sparks I have just got my P&T out of the garage to have a play today and work out how all the bits go together etc - I don't think you will regret buying it tbh!! It does look really cool and handy and DS loved sitting in the front bit (I was practising ). Tbh, I wish we had splashed out and got a new one now as this one is a bit grotty, even though we have washed it thoroughly - would have loved a bright red one or something!! What colour did you get?

Barbs enjoy your last few childless days - life will never be the same again We are having a lovely family weekend as our last one as just the 3 of us!!

DH eventually got the crib down from the loft this afternoon so it is all made up with sheet, grobag, cuddly toys and a blankie - all we need now is the baby Dh thinks I am preparing too early but I want DS to get used to the crib being in our room for a bit iyswim (plus I need to get used to it as I have to remember to walk round it to get to the toilet )

Dozymare · 15/11/2008 19:33

Go monkey go monkey go monkey...............

Very excited for you and REALLY hope it happens tonight keep us posted xxxx

Dozymare · 15/11/2008 19:35

ceebee if I remeber correctly, aren't you having a planned CS this week?????

Pinkyminkee · 15/11/2008 19:38

ooh looks like things have moved on for monkey today- good luck sweetheart!

sparkle I love my Phil&Teds. We all went to town today and it was soo fab.DD loves it because she is high up now (so can reach the button for crossings etc.) and loves it in her sleeping bag.
Plus people always find it very exciting when they discover the baby hidden in the cocoon. It's very snuggly and sawys gently as you push which babies find very soothing.

congratulations Roca

Off to look at vbabs pics now

ceebee74 · 15/11/2008 19:41

Dozy yes I am - on Thursday and it can't come a moment too soon

Pinkyminkee · 15/11/2008 19:42

ooh ceebe are you having your baby this week? how exciting!

Our P&T is apple green, very easy to spot in a crowd

Hi Dozy glad things are still going well.

mummynic I have a little thread going about birth issues, and some people have posted some useful links/advice on it. I understand veyr well how you feel, and I''m very for you.xx

ceebee74 · 15/11/2008 19:46

Pinky see I am v as I would LOVE an apple green one!! I know buying a secondhand one was the sensible thing to do as we saved ourselves about £300 but I want an apple green one

lol. It does show up the dirt a bit- I have to wash it quite a lot- if that makes you feel any better.. but I do love it Sounds like you got a bargain, which is fab. I sold my Bugaboo frog to buy mine. Got quite a big discount at Lesters. It's still going well considering I've used it nearly every day since DD1 was born.

Bet you can't wait til thursday, now. Have you had a cs before? (sorry, being nosey)

ceebee74 · 15/11/2008 19:59

Pinky it does make me feel a bit better but my P&T is a rather dull bluey grey colour so not v exciting!!

Yes, I had an emcs with DS cos he was back-to-back and after 24 hours labour, he clearly wasn't coming out!! Am not that concerned about the op itself and it has been my choice to have another one - feel ok about that - I am more concerned about not being able to do much afterwards tbh like picking up DS and giving him cuddles, driving etc. I can't remember from last time how long afterwards I felt 'normal' butI am thinking a couple of weeks maybe??

Pinkyminkee · 15/11/2008 20:04

Glad you feel good with it. I felt best about my elcs for DD1, it was definitelty the best experience of the three.
Yes you do have to be careful. I am feeling quite healed now,3 weeks on but carrying DD1 around is a bit of a no-no. I have lifted her, though it's not recommended, and I know if I have overdone it.

sparkletoes · 15/11/2008 20:06

I was torn between the apple green and the navy one pinky / Ceebs!!

Only settled on navy as DH thought it might be easier to sell on later but green is my most favorite colour (currently sitting in my pale green living room and 2 people this week have asked me what colour paint I used!! haha!).

I got the full package, buggy, double & cocoon for £360 which is best price I have seen new. Was looking at ebay but didn't like idea of buying 2nd hand without seeing first and no return option as they are still pretty expensive on there.

Thanks for the reassurance tho! I was still a bit at spending all that money (I don't have!). But it does seem like the best option for me even if it has little storage... Will need to get my Quinny up for sale now.

Hope Monkey progressing well!!!

ceebee regarding a PLANNED CS...there is IME a HUGE difference between emergency and planned - I had EMCS with DS1 after a 3 day labour and getting to 9cms...the recovery was horrendous, I wa sin a lot of pain blah blah blah...

DS2 and DD1 were both planned, and let me tell you a walk in the park by comparison. We played our own music, everyone was very chilled and explained what was happening at every step. Recovery after 1st planned was amazing - driving after 3 weeks, lifting DS1 after a few days, walking a few hours later....this time (2ns planned CS) happened in the morning - I had a shower the next morning and with effective pain management discharged myself after 48 hours.....Was driving 10 days later and feel fantastic....I rest when I can and rather than carry DS2 I get him to sit next to me........

Hope that helps aliveate any niggles you may have....

Pinkyminkee · 15/11/2008 20:14

OOh very sensible colour, sparkle

I do recommend the pannier bags- I used to get a week's shopping in mine, I also have a carabina that clips onto the pram handle for bags. One major benefit of getting a ten ton pram is that you can hang things off it with inpunity as there's no way it will tip!
