Rosa well done you and welcome baby Greta! Such a cute name...
Laura just read your HB story - fantastic!!
I'm now 40+9, and booked in for induction Tues. But.......think I might have started in labour! Went to bed at 10:30pm after going out last night with friends for Chinese. Been awoken several time by strong, painful period like pains. Went to loo at 1am and have had a bloody show. First time there's been any pinkness.
Am now up having drink and still having cramps. Going to go back to bed and try and sleep, and see what tomorrow brings. .
Really, really hope that this is it and that I can have my home birth. Bye for now!

tegan · 15/11/2008 07:54

Good morning, just a quick update.

Went to mw on tuesday had sweep and was already 3cm, had show thursday and been having on off contrations since tuesday but still no baby. I am really pissed off and fed up, just want it over with and fast.

ceebee74 · 15/11/2008 08:09

Roca congratulations on the birth of Greta

LadyBuzz · 15/11/2008 09:32

Congratulations Roca
Great story Laura78 Mummynic My hospital have an afterthoughts programme which means you ca get an appointment with a consultant to discuss the birth, I did it and it really helped me it might be worth checking out if yours have something similar!
Waves to everyone else!

twinkle183 · 15/11/2008 09:41

Wow what a lovely calm birthing experience Lauraw78 I hope that I have an experience like that!!!

Good luck to tegan and monkeym and sending some positive thoughts....

Hope everyone is well -

Nothing to report I am afraid except the flu seems to be budging quite quickly which is good!!!

MonkeyMargot · 15/11/2008 09:58

Happy due date ChocGal.
Tegan I'm with you on the being fed up part. I am still having contractions, but not getting any more frequent as yet. Am about to go and walk the dog, and then basically keep moving as much as poss today. I think (?) this is supposed to help.
Positive labour vibes to you tegan - and chocgal and sparkle too!

Pinkyminkee · 15/11/2008 10:01

misdee · 15/11/2008 10:23

more detailed birth story

Tinkerisdead · 15/11/2008 10:50

morning all, im waiting for the midwife aaggggaiinnn. more blood pressure checks and probably my third sweep, she did offer on thursday but i said no, couldnt face it. Dh wants to watch football later so i'll prob come back on to read the birth stories. congrats to Roca and greta i think thats such a fab starlet name!
Yes i am organised with my hospital bag, food bag, all xmas shopping was completed last month and you should see my home birth nest, all in dining room, pool, birth ball, airbed??!!(dh put it in there) quilts, pillows, massive stack of towels, buckets, inco pads... the midwives come round and squeal as its massive room and they have all their own allocated space and food box. gutted if hospital beckons! prob is yesterday DH came home at 3pm and we sat there looking at each other saying, what shall we do? everything is done!!

sparkletoes · 15/11/2008 12:00

OH Congratulations Roca!!! I love the name Greta it is definately up there on the cool list! Think it was Pinky who used Martha in her LOs name, I also love that name!

We definately have good taste on this thread ALL the names are gorgeous!

Haey haey Monkey that sounds good... sending you stronger contraction vibes (even tho I am essentially wishing great pain upon you )!!

No more signs of my sparkler arriving so just enjoying the peace as much as I can with a 2 year old about!

An afterthoughts programme is an excellent idea! Definately check that out MummyNic. I know so many people who would have benefitted from such a scheme.

Ok who else on the overdue team with me now... Tegan, ChocGal, Twinkle, DocW sending you all calming/head engaging/cervix dilating vibes!!!!

Monkey Mack was born at Term+9 - I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and all other od ladies - and until then SLEEP while you can!!!!!!!!

MonkeyMargot · 15/11/2008 12:35

Choc I am trying to keep on my feet and moving about to encourage the contractions...is this not right?

MerryMarigold · 15/11/2008 12:52

MonkeyM, you are doing the right thing. Climbing up and down stairs is good too . Also sleep too...if you can, but it is hard when things are getting exciting.

Getting excited for you! Ooooooooooh, is is Cecily or Cosmo?

ChocOrange05 · 15/11/2008 12:59

Moving helped me, i popped lots of EPO capsules, drank RLT, used my pump to stimulate my nipples and ate half a pineapple 2 days before, although it made me feel sick!! Its all worth a try!

Good luck!

MonkeyMargot · 15/11/2008 12:59

MerryM - Cecily and Cosmo are still in our top 2 - but we have an alternative for each flavour also. Have to see what he/she looks like!!
Going to go for another walk in a while. I have been up and down stairs lots, and have been hoovering and cooking to try and stay moving. Really hope this is it!!

MerryMarigold · 15/11/2008 13:19

ooh, i could eat half a pineapple anytime and not feel sick. i love pineapple and loved it even more when i was pg. apparently it is high in something.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/11/2008 14:10

Congratulations to Roca and welcome to the world Greta; lovely name too

Monkey, fingers crossed this is it starting for you......90% (I think) of babies come within 10 days of their due date! If you feel up to it, it's OK to be walking and encouraging things, but try and not overdo it or you'll be too tired to labour effectively (take it from one who knows!!!)

lauraw, what a lovely birth story! Makes me want to have another one so I can experience a nice easy birth

twinkle183 · 15/11/2008 15:45

Must get some pineapple juice - someone mention caster oil to me the other day about bringing things on - has anyone tried that??? Am really thinking about it as I have tried anything else!!!!!

Watching the rugby at the moment - love men in little shorts....

sparkletoes · 15/11/2008 16:22

Ok I have just ordered a Phil n Teds with cocoon and doubles kit.

PLEASE someone who has one reassure me this was a good decision!!

Daisy?? Ceebee??....!!

I am getting pains in my stomach now but don't know if labour related or due to amount of money just spent!!!

Heartmum2Jamie · 15/11/2008 16:24

Congratulations Roca and welcome baby Greta (lovely name)

Monkey, I hope things are moving along for you.

Twinkle, personally, I would not take castor oil incase it passes to the baby and makes the baby poop inside. I didn't take castor oil but my baby passed meconium in utero, which resulted in my homebirth being abandonned for an emergency transfer to the hospital and having to deliver the baby as quickly as possible for his own safety (which caused a second degree tear, stitches and roids that feel the size of a small planet, lol). It was a fairly scarey/hair last 25 minutes and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

MonkeyMargot · 15/11/2008 17:09

Thanks HM2J. Contractions now 5 mins apart, lasting on average 55 seconds (using nifty online tool!) MW on call still not turned her phone on (Helpful!) but I am in touch with the trainee MW who is on standby to come over. Not sure when I should start worrying....am still managing pain with DH rubbing back etc, though they are definitely getting more intense.

ChocOrange05 · 15/11/2008 17:24

Monkey I completely missed the bit before where you said you were having ctx - thats why I regaled you with general "get labout started" methods rather than "keep ctx going" ones. Once I had ctx I tried the stairs and did lots of bouncing on my birth ball. I am v excited for you!!!! Keep us updated if you can and GOOD LUCK! x
