Hana thanks for that - your pg brain is obviously in better working order than mine Maybe Sparks is going to be that 0.25% person

Gosh Vbab - what an amazing birth story!! Sounds wonderful actually, and you and your DH must be very calm people! Good on you!! Alyssa is gorgeous .
Any news form Sparkle this morning? Is she perhaps right now in hospital?
Ceebee re. your MIL, couldn't she get a lift with your DH, but sit in the car/coffee area for an hour to give you some family time first? I'm sure she would understand. Put your foot down!
MummyNic your birth story sounds quite stressful but glad you got your boy out safe and sound and hope you're both doing well.
Mum2Becks good luck today with your induction!!!
MerryM - I think you asked when I was going to be induced - it's booked in for next Tuesday 18th so I'll keep you posted. My DH also has your number saved on his phone so you might get updates from him depending on what happens!

Oblomov · 14/11/2008 09:22

Congratulations to Browny, WAM4.
Barb, at your doc. I don't like being examined during labour, but its not THAT bad, so don't worry. And I was only examined twice. I don't care for smears much either, funnily enough.
Congratulations to Lauraw78 - she snuck that one in - must of been mine 'egging her on

Ceebee, totally agree with others. V V important that dh comes, then introduced to ds. Crucial I feel. MIL can wait, atleats an hour. Naughty MIL.

Great birth mummynic Misdee pictures are adorable.

Vbab, congratulations. Well done you. you don't do things by halves, do you ?

Go Sparkle. Lets hope things are on the move.

Tinkerisdead · 14/11/2008 10:05

chocorange loving the name mack Harrison that was deffo worth waiting for brilliant.
vbab i'd like that birth please, i told my midwife i wanna be like one of these women on maury Povich who have a baby down the loo, so im mega jealous!
ceebee MIL should stay away purlease..your time with your family! dont even get me started on the inlaws remember mine are truly mental.

for anyone else i may have missed congrats, oh no hold on hold onbarb sorry your sweep was harsh, i did say mine was like being fisted so im hoping that yours was just rough as i'd experienced

So, yesterday i came over all weird like i was pissed, midwife rushes over thinking my blood pressure has gone all squiffy again. nothing. she leaves and i started getting contractions every three minutes, like strong period pains, they hurt and made me feel sick but lasted like seconds. went on for three hours and DH suggested i sleep rather than leap about on the ball..and they bloody stopped! argghhhhh. i coulda had a duedate baby. and sparkle is gonna get it now

sparkletoes · 14/11/2008 10:18

Thank you ladies but I am living proof that a show is nothing to get too excited about am still here and only very, very mild period type cramp. I do feel like baby has dropped a bit tho as kicks are lower. Not getting overly excited could be days yet... right?!!

Thanks for all the good wishes tho really appreciated and LOL at statistic of having 2 babies on their due dates!! Can set your watch by my kids! (maybe?!!). Time yet I suppose!

Wasn't Vbab birth story amazing! So nice of her DH to tell her she is the strongest person he knows at such an important time. And little Alyssa is gorgeous!

Well I am just going to carry on as normal now, anyone for coffee and apricot loaf (de-caf and gluten free available...). I did wonder if I would have to cancel my Tesco delivery at lunchtime!

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 14/11/2008 10:22

twinkle183 · 14/11/2008 10:45

Morning all - nothing to report here, I'm afraid but had a pinky tinge discharge but otherwise am fine!!!

Congrats on that birth story vbab hope mines as smooth and calm as yours!!!!

sparkle sending you labour vibes - hope they get through okay!!

Am really suffering with flu so am thinking about putting a block on the ripening vibes until at least I am better...

Hope everyone is well and enjoying there new babies if they have have them and for people overdue sending labour vibes to you!!!

MummyNic · 14/11/2008 10:54

Wow Vbab what an amazing birth. Much as I hate pain I do feel that I've been cheated of any birth experience and it's kinda got me down (have been very tearful since leaving hospital). I didn't have a show, a BH, no waters broke (but they'd disappeared in just 2 weeks - hence the eventual problems being exaggerated) and not a single contraction.

Now I'm left in agony with a badly bruised womb and a 'lovely' scar.

Don't get me wrong, I was terrified of giving birth and was tempted to beg for a cs (thinking it was the easy way!). But last week, before the numerous trips to be monitored started and it all got very serious, I was mentally ready to push James into the world.

DH has been great too, doing everything around the house AND working half days (new job so not entitled to paternity leave) - that makes me feel guilty too.

Sorry for the me, me, me post. Good luck to those who's babies are starting to think about joining us!!!

LadyBuzz · 14/11/2008 10:55

Big congrats to Mummynic and lauraw. Vbab wow what a story and what a star your DH was and Alyssa is lovely!
Choco lovely name
Misdee your DDs are gorgeous!
Good luck to those due soon, hope things get moving soon for you all!

sparkletoes · 14/11/2008 10:57

DocW I would happily let you take my place as I am still not completely organised here haha! DId panic a bit last night at first but as no contractions as such no need to worry I think..

Can't believe you got flu Twinkle that is just not on! Sending get well very soon vibes followed closely by labour ones..

OP posts:
sparkletoes · 14/11/2008 11:13

MummyNic your feelings are completely natural and won't be helped if you are experiencing pain too. Childbirth is such an emotive experience and so many women get similar feelings and for various reasons. I don't have any real advice here but just wanted to let you know you are definately not alone.

Can you talk over this with someone? Important that you can discuss your feelings now so that you are able to put this behind you I think. It definately helped me to talk it through with the MW and my DH after things went not to plan last time as I was reassured it wasn't anything I did and at end of day got healthy baby so now time to enjoy him. Think if I had ruminated too much about it then it could have become something far worse (and my experience was not even that big a deal really).

Big hugs and you can always tell us, a problem shared and all that...

Tinkerisdead · 14/11/2008 12:02

8twinkle* sending you get well vibes.
mummynic about your feelings about the birth, echo what sparkle has said, maybe go through what happened with midwife to sort through your feelings?
sparkle im ready, bedside cot is made up, moses basket, the pool is inflated waiting to be filled, hospital bag packed, box of food for midwife and DH next to pool..i just have to trim the lady garden but im saving that for labour. let me go first xxxx

twinkle183 · 14/11/2008 12:37

Thanks guys - really appreciate the get well vibes!!! Starting to feel better already Am going to take those well wishes to bed with and have a lay down while I have the chance...

Water pool birth sounds really relaxing but am under strict instructions as dh is away and wants me to go to hospital!!! Am ready to go though - carseat and baby bag by back door ready to go, moses basket and carrycot ready to go....

Good luck for all ladies due today.... Speak to you later after a rest!!! xxxxx

sparkletoes · 14/11/2008 12:51

Ok DocW you send me some get organised vibes and you can gladly have my labour ones!!

OP posts:
sparkletoes · 14/11/2008 12:56

Out of interest, what is in your box of food DocW?? My DH has a 6 pack of lucozade!!

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 14/11/2008 13:25

in the box there is... drum roll... cupasoups, crisps, lucozade, chocolate and chocolate biscuits, some starburst and lollies for me in case i need a quick burst of something. water, crackers and in the fridge is bread, babybels and dairylea dunkers.

midwife stipulates that for a home birth she needs easy to grab food and i just shoved loads of stuff in the box as im a bot of a fusser/hostess and i have visions of me in labour trying to prepare meals for midwives as id worry they were hungry. But things like soup, cheese and crackers are for me if i can manage something small. mind you you know i'll end up induced at this rate with no food box!!!

Tinkerisdead · 14/11/2008 13:37

i should point out that there is off course the normal stuff in the fridge like fruit and meat etc and healthier stuff, the box is just there with non perishable stuff that can be grabbed/picked at..i also have cereal bars for me and variety pack of cereal itself.. just easier if im at home for dh or midwife to look in box rather than wander about trying to conjure a meal..especially DH, he's no jamie oliver!!

sparkletoes · 14/11/2008 13:56

Thanks for that DW I have just about all of those in the house somewhere (including lemon lollies called Sparkles - no relation!). Am sure i can conjure up a similar box of treats!

However I seem to have enough stuff for 2 weeks in Spain to take with me which seems excessive! Think I will need to revisit the bags and see what I can cut down/out...

But it won't be babygros esp after last time!

OP posts:
MonkeyMargot · 14/11/2008 14:08

Drs.Wife because I'm now overdue, and an induction looks likely (rather than the planned Home Birth) i've revisited my hospital bag and put lots more stuff in, including small bottles of water, fruit shoots (i know these are deemed "evil" on MN!!), percy pigs, cereal bars.
If home birth goes ahead, I've got home-made scones, lots of stuff to make sandwiches with, cereal bars, fruit etc.
Hmm, Sparkle how many babygros for hospital should I pack?

sparkletoes · 14/11/2008 14:35

Oh Percy Pigs I love them (note to self pick up some at M&S later...)

Haha yes I have a bit of an issue over babygros as last time I was told not to bring any! This time I have packed 6 neutral colour ones and instructed DH to bring flavour approp colours once known! However this time I hope to be out much quicker so prob wont need as many... My DS was forever leaking onto his at first tho!
