Morning M2B - good luck with your sweep today, I am also 1 week overdue and have a sweep this morning. Come on babies!!!!!

Morning Saurus!

mum2becks · 08/11/2008 07:38

Question for anyone who has been induced before -

MW said that following the sweep today she will make me an appt at hospital and my hospital like to see you at 10 days over, do they actually do the induction that day or just see you and book you back in for when it suits them?

Just wondering if to arrange childcare for me staying in or if its just to discuss I will probably take DD with me?? I know I dont have to go ahead with an induction, and at the moment I'm hoping I wont have to, but trying to be prepared for all possibilities!!!

mum2becks · 08/11/2008 07:42

Ooh good luck with your sweep too ChocO we could be having a sudden rush of babies very soon!!!!!!

ChocOrange05 · 08/11/2008 07:47

I really hope so M2B!!!!!

ruthosaurus · 08/11/2008 07:51

Sorry, Choc, when is your sweep? I know I have asked this before but lack of sleep is confusing me and an awful lot of us are now having sweeps/inductions...

Mum2, I'd call them. I never understand anything they say to me at the hospital any more and have to get DH to explain things to me afterwards. My hosp has actually booked me in, not just a discussion, but yours might be different.

Bloody hell, mny waters are STILL going. Is it true that you keep making more until the baby is born? Cos this is just gross, it's like being incontinent. I would be more stoical if there were some nice big fat painful regular contractions to go with it.

ChocOrange05 · 08/11/2008 08:26

Its this morning Saurus - 9.30am. Never before have I looked forward to something so invasive!

ruthosaurus · 08/11/2008 08:29

Fingers and toes crossed - I hope your sweep is gentle but effective! I bet you have your baby before me...

ChocOrange05 · 08/11/2008 08:34

I would say I hope so but that would be cruel seeing as what you're going through, lets hope we both do within the next few days!

ruthosaurus · 08/11/2008 08:39

Nah, I'm just glad for anyone who gets one out now! I was going through a bit of an insane jealousy thing this time last week, especially when my mate in the US had her baby, but I'm over it. It'll happen eventually and I'm sure (as people keep telling me) that in a week or so I'll look back on all this free time I had sitting around waiting and wonder what I was bitching about...

So I am definitely going to the pictures today, armed with MANY maternity pads and a giant portion of nachos.

(Btw, I wish I could sustain this PMA, it comes and goes and I know I'm going to end up having a sad/grumpy mood swing later. Poor DH)

ChocOrange05 · 08/11/2008 08:44

I know what you mean about maintaining PMA - I can do it in the daytime when there is stuff to do but at night I just lie awake thinking about it all - its very frustrating!

Everyone keeps telling me to plan something to do everyday so you don't get down so tonight DH and I are going to a fireworks display tonight which I am really looking forward too and I am going to go to the cinema on Monday daytime - not much on I haven't seen though so I may have to go for High School Musical 3 - and a giant bucket of popcorn for me!!

Yorky · 08/11/2008 09:49

After DS swimming today we are going to peek through the windows of the new house - 2hrs up the road! If that doesn't shift the baby what will!

vbab78 · 08/11/2008 09:51

rutho - sorry to hear nothing moved on yet . Could mean though that when things do they will be quick as your body will probably be over prepared and you used to the pain!

GBS swap ... i've had 2 and both times they were just a fanjo swab not back side. Maybe you had a pervy midwife or just a lovely back side.

WATERS ... i was in the other 10% with DS then as mine were broken at hospital after being in labour for many hours.

INDUCTION ... sure things will move along before Monday but worst case at least MONDAY!

When is your EDD? My baby still no sign. I had a little back well more shoulder ache all of yesterday and still today but that cant be labour related just desperate for a sign. More I think about it I think the bleed on Monday cant have been a show. Me and DH going out for a curry tonight (after I suggested of course bloody men) as mum and dad got DS. Then assuming I can stop awake might be watching some boxing on TV?

vbab78 · 08/11/2008 10:02

ruth - hope you enjoy the cinema and your nachos. I'll settle for coffee and choc at home whilst chasing DS .

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2008 10:23

Go baby saurus go. you know he/she will start to make a move as soon as you get comfy in the cinema don't you?

did your MW actually say have sex? I thought it was inadvisable due to infection.

DrsWife.....moist healing is definately recommneded for sore nipples; slather them in lansinoh and keep them covered. If you can't bear anything touching them, you can buy breast shells which will keep your clothes away from them.

Good luck for sweeps etc

M2B, I was actually induced at 10days post dates with DS (inspite of a crap bishop's score ), but that was arranged at my post dates appointment at 41 weeks. Having been through it, I would only ever agree to induction if my body was on the brink of going itself. You can tell them on Monday that you will arrange a date with them for when it suits your childcare arrangements. Don't let them bully you into having this baby when it suits them!!!

and remember all that the NICE guidelines say they can "offer" induction from 10 days post dates. I feel quite cross that some of you are being told you will be induced.

ChocOrange05 · 08/11/2008 10:43

Hello all

Back from my sweep and feeling a bit crappy. She managed to actually do the sweep this time - after A LOT of poking around. Luckily it was a really nice MW so it wasn't too bad but I am a bit down as my Bishops Score was only 4 and I was hoping for a bit more. She said the baby's head felt soft which could mean its not ready yet (I never knew my exact dates and it was based on an early scan).

TMI alert I just went to the loo and there was no blood from the sweep (which she said there might be) but there was a big glob of clear mucus-y stuff but I don't know if thats the "plug" or just because she has swept it??? Anyone??

I think I am going to be in a fed up and feeling sorry for myself mood today - already been snapping at DH but he's lovely and just gave me a hug, and now I am sitting here crying...... grrrrrr, I am sooo fed up.

Sorry for me post! I will try to be back to my PMA self soon!

iMum · 08/11/2008 10:45

Just to let you all know that I had my baby on the 4th.
He is gorgeous and we are now home after a stint on scbu. He was born at 6.04am and weighed 5lbs11oz. My family is now complete!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2008 10:47

sounds like the sweep loosened things off a bit Choco and that's a show. Not always bloody remember.

You never know, it might just be enough to kick things off for you

clary sage bath and lots of nipple tweaking and RLT for you young lady

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2008 10:50

oooh, congratulations iMum . I hope it all went well for you and that he is doing well. He was a good weight considering how early he was.....name?

come and join us on the PostNatal Thread when you have a moment. But be warned; it's a LOT quieter over there ...well apart from the mewling newborns that is

ChocOrange05 · 08/11/2008 10:55

Thanks Daisy, DH is off to make me a cup of RLT.

Congrats iMum - what a nice small boy!

MonkeyMargot · 08/11/2008 11:43

ChocO I think the mucus sounds very positive - doesn't have to be any blood there! This is what I've been having on and off for the past few days. If your dates are slightly out, does this mean they can adjust your latest time for an induction? My MW was telling me how sweeps in our hospital have a really high success rate, eliminating the need for medical intervention. Try and enjoy your day and not think about it too much!
Congrats to iMum!! Another baby - woohoo!
Fingers crossed that Hm2J is now giving birth as no news from her!
Rutho hope you enjoy your weekend - could be your last baby-free one, so enjoy the cinema.
Had a really strong feeling last night that something was going to happen - bad stomach cramps etc, more mucus. Rubbed clary sage onto bump - Lacks - is this ok to do? It was diluted with olive oil.
More cramps throughout night and this morning but nothing more.
DrsWife am in about your FIL!!! What on earth was he thinking? Does he have a secret passion for heavily pregnant ladies or was he just intending to be kind? The mind boggles!!

Oblomov · 08/11/2008 11:47

MerryM, love the photos.
Big hugs and love to PInkali, hope Esme is on the mend.
shocked at DrsWife ILS.
Best wishes for ChocO and Rutho that their babies come soon.
And Heart2Mum - where is she?
And Misdee - how is she doing?
Who else is 'desperato' ?
Best wishes all round.

LadyBuzz · 08/11/2008 11:52

Congrats imum
choco have a hug, hope it all kicks off for you soon.

ChocOrange05 · 08/11/2008 12:09

Hello Obs - hows Max?? Feeding any better?

Monkey I have asked to be monitored before deciding on an induction date so I will see the consultant next week to discuss it - I think for induction its up to me when or whether I go ahead with it, the dates thing only matters for the HB window, so if I miss the 15th then its hospital either way.

Thanks LadyBuzz I have been getting lots of hugs from DH too so I am feeling better.

I have also just had a cup of RLT, 2 EPO tablets, 15 mins pumping on each breast and a bounce on the birthing ball. What more can I do - I think my baby is just stubborn and comfy!!! Damn me for having such a nice womb!

Pinkyminkee · 08/11/2008 12:17

congratulations imum hope all is well.

rutho chin up hope thigns get going soon.

Same for you, choco
