Imum congrats on your little one Glad everything is now ok and you can get on with enjoying each other!

Saurus deffo enjoy this weekend (or as much of it as you can before you go into labour!) You will never have a weekend to yourselves again

Choc really hope the sweep did something. Did it hurt btw?? Just wondered as I never had one.

Monkey keep drinking that RLT - am sure it will do something! Am turning into a Gunner fan for the next couple of hours

No news from HM2J - I really was expecting something this morning as I know she has quick labours.........

Not much going on here - just ticking each day off until 20th! Had a 'lie-in' this morning until 7.05 - woohoo!! The clock certainly seems to be working so far - I know DS was awake at 6, the clock was set for 6.40(ish) so I can only assume he sat in bed waiting for Thomas's eyes to open, and then fell back asleep until 7 - without the clock I suspect he would have been in with us at 6

Any Take That fans?? They just interviewed Robbie and Gary at the football - together!!! Wouldn't it be great if Robbie rejoined??? Have tickets for one of their concerts in June and would LOVE to see Robbie there aswell

MonkeyMargot · 08/11/2008 12:56

Ceebee I just saw Gary and Robbie too! DH watching the game...who would have thought those two would ever be mates again?
I fear I'm going to be a football widow today, as DH's team are on Sky later on...glad the Thomas clock did the trick!

ruthosaurus · 08/11/2008 12:57

Hi all,

In quite a lot of pain now, getting contractions but not precisely regular but v painful, don't think I can cope at home for much longer, but scared hosp will send us home as I am not having contractions avery 3 mins like clockwork. they are lasting between 1.5 and 2 mins each time and I can't talk through them and they are horrible.

Anyone, is this actually it or what? I can't do this again, I can't, I can't. This has to end in a baby this time even if it takes another 2 days. Has been going on for 3 hours btw.

Sorry for badly typed me post.

MonkeyMargot · 08/11/2008 13:05

Rutho sorry, I can't really advise...have you got a TENS machine? Have you tried having a bath?

ruthosaurus · 08/11/2008 13:07

No machine, have had bath. I dunno whether to call the hosp and if it's more painful cos my waters aren't there any more, maybe?

misdee · 08/11/2008 13:08

i am still here.

just been at an xmas fair with the dd's and dh. bought a lovely big chocolate cake for pud tonight for a bargain £1.50. and the girls saw father christmas so they are very happy.

bump is still feeling hard and tight at times, but again not enough to do anything. after lunch will massage bump wuith clary sage again and go have a lie down for an hour. if the girls let me that is.

Oblomov · 08/11/2008 13:49

Rutho, that sounds good, 3mins apart, lasting for some time. Give hospital a ring. They will tell you WHEN to come in, and then atleats you will KNOW.
Good luck my darling

ceebee74 · 08/11/2008 13:49

Saurus I would think it is worth ringing the hospital if you haven't already - I think the measure they use is if you can't talk through them - which it sounds like you can't - good luck and hope Babysaurus makes an appearance very very soon

Monkey lol at you being a football widow - in this house, it is the other way round and DH is the football widower!! Can't believe Chelsea are going to be playing 5 minutes away from my house tomorrow and I can't go as I am too fat.....grrr! DH said that if we have it on telly and open the windows, it will be the same

MonkeyMargot · 08/11/2008 13:52

Ha ha ceebee...good on you! How come you're a Northern chelsea fan?
rutho good luck!!!!!!!!

ceebee74 · 08/11/2008 13:59

Monkey no particular reason that I can remember - I just randomly picked a team 24 years ago and it was Chelsea (although it may have been a subconscious reaction to my mum and bro being Gunners ). Unfortunately DS refuses to wear his Chelsea kit but I will persevere

Pinkyminkee · 08/11/2008 14:01

Rutho give the hosp. a ring.

not sure about baths once waters have gone.

lean forwards on something- DH, anything- to take the pressure off- there's no 'cushion' once waters have gone, so it will be more painful.

Good luck sweetheart!xx

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2008 14:06

rutho...lack of waters makes things much more painful. If you are struggling to cope with the pain then I would say call them. they will know from just talking to you what stage you are roughly at. And tbh now that your waters have gone, I don't think they would send you home again anyway.

Keep mobile and let gravity do it's job and we'll hear from you on the other side with a baby

Good Luck.....listen to your body and know that you can do this

I was wondering about misdee earlier as well, not seen her about for a couple of days. And hopefully heartmum is cuddling her little bundle already

Pinkyminkee · 08/11/2008 14:09

misdee is here, lacks, It's missygoo I was wondering about.

Oblomov · 08/11/2008 14:18

Monkey, I am a football widow. I love watching fotball myslef normally. But dh, ds1 and ds2 and down watching the manu arsenal game. Allowing me to MN and scrabble.
And for that, I love football.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2008 14:21

oops read that as misdee!

I'll text missygoo sending all our best wishes.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2008 14:22

I thought you might have had the baby misdee. soon hopefully, very soon.

ChocOrange05 · 08/11/2008 14:56

Damn Arsenal and all you Arsenal fans

ceebee the sweep hurts a bit when she first goes in but once its in there its just uncomfortable - its very similar to a smear test but mine did take a few minutes as the cervix kept getting away from her .

Had a bit more show so fingers crossed but after all the shows etc on here I am not getting my hopes up too much.

Saurus if you are still about - good luck, I hope things really get going for you or you feel better soon!

ruthosaurus · 08/11/2008 15:14

Still here DH being ace got about 5 mins btwn ctactions so due another any min now prob off to hosp in hour or so having a bath 1st.

iyswim.

OW.

Pinkyminkee · 08/11/2008 15:16

good luck rutho

sparkletoes · 08/11/2008 15:17

Congrats imum!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for Ruthy, ChocO and MonkeyM, Misdee and Heartmum!!

Ceebs we tried the clock, DS didn't come thru til 6:45am which I was happy about tbh! However DH said he'd be happier with 7am - 15 mins fgs and way better than 5am! Just cos it was his turn to get up! However turns out the clock hadn't even been set right LOL!

I would just like to take this opportunity to have a bit of a boast. I am on barbs thread where she is asking what the worst bit of labour was.

I always thought that I had a very low pain threashold.
But for my birth :
I went from apsolutley nothing, to contractions, very close together, waters breaking, to 9cm dilated and pushing, within about an hour and a half. I had a bit of gas and air.
I was very gently moaning from time to time. occassionally said "oh god", quite quietly. No screaming.
And It has finally dawned on me how amazingly well I did. On my own.
With dh shooting up the A3 to Kings.
The MW did say to me that she thought my pain threshold was higher than I gave myslef credit for.
I am just feeling quite pleased with myself.
Assume thats o.k.

MonkeyMargot · 08/11/2008 15:49

Obs you absolutely deserve a bit of credit for that - good on you. I will no doubt appreciate stories like this once I have been through the labour mill myself.
Re. footie, I have actively encouraged DH to renew his season ticket for Southampton each year - as it gives me every other Saturday to do my own thing . Alas, his team are doing sooo badly he prob. won't renew next time. And with a baby, I prob. won't want him to.
Good luck to rutho - lets hope this is your last trip to hospital and that you come back with your baby this time.
LOL sparkle at your DH...6:45 is WAY better than 5am!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2008 16:04

Obs, well done to you on the pain threshold. I was OK with it as long as I kept my breathing in check. If I let it get away from me then I panicked and got a bit screamy. And although I was in 2nd stage for 3hrs 20 mins (notes say full labour lasted 4hrs 20mins) it passed really really quickly

sparkletoes · 08/11/2008 16:06

I know!! MonkeyM! and only a mere 15 mins away from his 'preferred' waking time instead of 2 bloody hours away from it (funny that was on MY day for getting up LOL!!).

Well done Obs!

At the Parenthood classes we went to last time the MW said her friend had lived in the Netherlands when she was PG and apparently they completely forbid the use of ANY pain relief during childbirth! She said that it completely changed her view of the whole thing and that helped her to go through it au naturelle!

Very quick question ladies..... when you have a "show" how do you know when the whole mucus plug has come out, does anyone know how much it is as I have heard some people say it can come out in dribs and drabs (and hence not be a sign of labour about to start). I have had 2 globs (which is a lovely sounding word!) of about 50p size, but how do I know if its the whole plug??

Appreciate I may be grasping at straws here!
