LackaDAISYcal · 05/11/2008 19:59

ooh, i have an answer to that as well.....apparently anaemia makes your hair very brittle and is the probable cause of my hair issues. Get your iron levels checked ceebee; you really don't want to be in the same position as me ironwise after delivery.

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 20:05

Ceebs my DS was same with fireworks, absolutely hated it saying "too scary, too loud"! He has however not stopped talking about them & how good they were ever since???!!

Lacks would really recommend my mum's Apricot Loaf then, tis gluten free (she is Coeliac) and bursting with iron. I am making them by the batch load as my iron levels low now and really dropped after childbirth last time... Hands out virtual piece to anyone who wants it.

OK, update, not baby related before anyone gets excited/jealous

We still don't have an address to go to as DH is waiting for the reference number he needs to put on the housing application form but he finishes his course on Dec 5 and has handover from guy currently in his new job on Dec 15 so we're moving sometime between those dates! It will be DS's 4th address and he's not 2 till the end of January!
Let's not even think about the fact that EDD 23.11 plus 12 days over = Dec 5!!!

How are you feeling Lacka? well looked after?

Yorky · 05/11/2008 20:08

Sparkle - have you put the apricot recipe on MN? sounds tasty - I am all for making 'healthy' cake!

ceebee74 · 05/11/2008 20:16

Daisy bless you, you really do have an answer for everything!! Thanks for the info - will start trying to get my iron levels up now - what natural stuff has iron in it?? Apricots obviously (Sparks have you posted that recipe??).....

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 20:19

Ceebs, I've got it (the broken hairs loo paper thing) atoo and will be on the apricots as from tomorrow...

Sparkle, thanks for slice, yum yum!

Bloody hell, Yorky, have you got lots of help from rellies etc for the move?

I just came back from a lovely firework display at the bottom of our road - it was also a bit of a mini festival with bands and rides and food stalls, so we have had curry goat and dirty rice for tea, yummy! Had a bit of a leak of something when we got back but don't think it's waters and just hoping I didn't wee myself, the shame of it all... Pubes falling out and leaking wee, it's like being my grandma.

My nephew called earlier and told me all about playing kiss chase at school but that he kept getting kissed by boys by mistake. Kids are ace.

Dozymare · 05/11/2008 20:19

sparkle yes please put on your apricot recipe - sounds delish!!!!

Heartmum Please, please please have your baby tonight - we need a firework baby!!! I think you are showing the signs as well...finger's crossed for you.......

MONKEY are you utterly insane?!! A birth with NO DRUGS?! Not even on standby?!! You are a MASOCIST girl!!! The best bit for me is the drugs!!! DH thinks I am mad but I actually like feeling with it but not with it (if you see what I mean!) I was talking utter rubbish and aware that I was, and that in turn was making me, DH, the anethatist (sp) the midwives and the consultant all laugh!!!! I am sure someone said the best part of their job in theatre (apart from delivery babies) is hearing the rubbish us mums to be spout out!!!

rutho anything??!!!

MonkeyMargot · 05/11/2008 20:29

HM2J fingers crossed for you tonight!! Yeah - bonfire baby!
The Real MM is going absolutely nuts due to fireworks exploding, poor little mite.
Dozy I know, I know. I am hopeful the MW will be able to get me G+A...
Sparkle I would love your apricot loaf recipe - sounds delish!

Have just realised I cannot remember Friday or Saturday! Or bits of yesterday! Eek, where has my brain gone?

vbab78 · 05/11/2008 21:02

yorky & rutho - I've got the boots parenting freebie bag. With DS I had a freebie boots huggies one. No need for expensive bags in my opinion.

obs - glad you had a heart to heart and cuddle with DH . Cant remember what a cuddle is like with my DH. Only time I get a cuddle is when he is giving me a nudge .

mum2becks - my EDD was 3rd and feel just like you. But dont see my midwife now until nearly 42wks anyway . So not much I can do but wait.

rutho - i hope you have put your DH in his place!

heartmum - may end up giving clary sage oil a try. no chance, ANYTHING, is going up my fanjo (not as brave as some of you ladies) so may resort to the oil for massage or bath.

doctorswife - why does your dh want anything to do with his sister? blood or not.

ME,ME,ME - NOW 2 DAYS OVERDUE AND NOTHING SINCE BLEED (MAYBE SHOW) ON DUE DATE (MONDAY GONE)! NOT SEEING MIDWIFE NEXT UNTIL A WEEK TOMORROW SO NEARLY 42WKS BEFORE THEY MIGHT EVEN CONSIDER SWEEP OR INDUCTION. ARGH!

Worked out that like with DS if an induction was scheduled for 14 days overdue as standard (but DS appeared on his own 13 days overdue) then I would be induced on 17th NOV and prob baby arrive on 18th. DS and me both born on 18th day of a month! SPOOKY or just me thinking too much ?

The lavender bath attempt did bugger all! Might try a curry at the weekend. Just a little worried what the labour room would be like if I went into labour after having the curry especially after previous experience with DS.

MIL trying to be funny everyday leaves a message on our answer machine pretending to be a nurse from the labour ward saying a bed is available. HA BLOODY HA! I appreciate what she is trying to do but just not seeing the funny side.

But on a good note had a fantastic and loving day with DS which started at 8.30 when he woke me up with a smile . We, including DH who managed to get home from work on time , [horror emotion], [gasp emotion] went to my mum and dad and had fireworks and lots of food . DS enjoyed his 1st year of fireworks (DS 2yr 4ish months) and kept emulating them but did scare a couple of times. We all scared once when one went spinning off . DS kept saying in the sweetest voice "scared yer" or "scared me". LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

[emotional emotion] Last night like every night just before bed I went into DS room and gave him a kiss and told him (even though asleep) that "mummy thinks he is very special and mummy loves him lots and lots and lots". He lifted up his head (asleep) smiled at me and said "lots and lots and lots".

BUT IN SUMMARY ... LOVE MY BOY BEYOND WORDS EVEN WHEN HE'S TROUBLE BUT JUST WANT THIS BABY NOW!

MerryMarigold · 05/11/2008 21:05

Hello! Well, MM, tonight's the night! How are you feeling? Are you impatient or cool as a cucumber? My phone is on standby...

Is Heartmum going into labour too?

Myself and babies are well...right now they are sleeping like...umm...babies!

mum2becks · 05/11/2008 21:08

Been busy on here again today!!!

Hope everyone has/is enjoying bonfire night, got DD some sparklers but she was scared of them and didnt like the noise outside with all the bangs so we havent done anything for bonfire night!!!!

Suprised we havent had a bonfire baby today!!! Unless heartmum is in labour it does sound promising??

Had MW appt today, everything fine but she wouldnt do a sweep said they dont do them until 41 weeks as like to give things a chance to happen naturally!! But that now means a sweep on saturday 40+7 and then I have to have a hospital appt for 40+10 for them to discuss induction, not sure if they do it that day or book me back in but it all sounds very close and I really dont want to be induced so please send me some labour vibes that things start naturally in the next few days!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I havent replied to a lot of posts, I have read it all but at this time of day I really cant remember what I have read

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 21:36

Ok ladies: Apricot Loaf

  • Drain & leave to cool.
  • Soak Oatibix in milk.
  • Add sugar to the mixture.
  • Gradually add the flour.
  • Add the nicely softened apricots.

Bake in a loaf tin at 160C for about an hour.

Heartmum2Jamie · 05/11/2008 21:48

Hehehe! I am trying (and dh would say I was VERY trying!) to have a bonfire baby. some BH/contractions have started up, nothing regular as yet. I am uncertain as to whether I should get up and move around to try and encourage them, or just sit and relax. I am willing to bet it will all stop when I go to bed. I had ds1 at 41+1, which would be the equivilant of tomorrow. I don't want to get my hopes up, but it's kind of hard not to.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 21:48

Hi Vbab, your DS is SO cute! I feel your frustration, hon, and would say do you want to meet up for a good bitch if I wasn't bloody housebound.

Actually, arranging something would probably guarantee that both of us spontaneously go into labour. Coffee?

Merry it is so nice to hear from you. Glad the babies are sleeping through Bonfire Night. Got pictures of them, hon?

Hi M2b, let's synchronise babies, eh? After 3, start jumping up and down while drinking RLT!

God, we have to get these babies out soon, or I will run out of extreme punctuation!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 05/11/2008 21:49

get bouncing on the ball heartmum......and get DH to oblige with a special sweep

Heartmum2Jamie · 05/11/2008 21:57

LOL Lacks! I got dh to oblige last night. He is wanting to try the prostaglandins through the gut method tonight. Ick! I can't think of other things I would rather be doing or trying but I said I would try when we started to get desperate and we are rapidly reaching that point. Will definately bounce on the ball though.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 22:30

HM2J, I can't be doing with that either, it's one of the "foods" that makes me gip at the moment On the other hand, if it gets things started...

If its BH contractions or more of this prodromal labour shite it will just stop and nothing you are doing or not doing will change that, babes.

Sparkle, stop killing me at Scrabble! Actually, don't as I am learning some ace new words the recipe thread thing on MN is here:

Unless you mean a specific thread, in which case ignore my mad ramblings

misdee · 05/11/2008 22:36

well the fireworks didnt scare the little lady into moving, though am having some twinges again and a lot of pressure in my bottom, but seeing as i've been in this situation beofre, i'm going for another false alarm again. i will only call the midwife out if its def it, or my waters break. and considering my waters have only broken before contractions once before (broke when pushign with dd2, ARM for dd3) i'm not holding out for that lol.

Noisey contractor man has improved my squeaky floorboards. now dh and the kids went to bed without the loud noises that usually acompany it. which means now i cant hear when one of the girls sneak out of bed lol.

MonkeyMargot · 05/11/2008 22:58

Hey merryM! Good to see you posting. How is everything going? Have you got any photos yet of Jude and Mirissa? Would love to see them!
Nothing has started here alas, but I have a feeling it won't be too long.
Am impressed by all those giving the prostaglandins method a bash.....not a hope in this household. DH went to bed at 8:30pm! I tried to get an early night but couldn't sleep so have come back down for Scrabble, hot chocolate and Desperate Housewives .
Vbab I am trying not to get fixated on the whole due date thing. Though it must be difficult to be relaxed when your MIL is leaving "funny" messages...oh dear.
There seems to be a recurrent MIL theme going on in this thread...

vbab78 · 06/11/2008 00:05

Been lured finally out of my lavender bath, after over an hour, on a promise from DH ... that he would have a hot choc made with milk waiting for me. Wanted in the end to get out of the bath and still able to but just couldnt be arsed to move.

rutho - serious about meeting up for coffee? If you are and nothing moved along for either of us ... would you be up for meeting on Sat at Meadowhall for an hour of chat, coffee and something sweet? NO PROBS IF FOR WHATEVER REASON YOU WOULDNT WANT TO (you mentioned housebound didnt know if DH could taxi you) OR PREFER TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER BABIES.

Yorky · 06/11/2008 07:03

Well 545 is better than 526! And he's in a lovely mood. Tomorrow is the last day I have him to myself overnight/morning as DH will be home for 2 weeks - dreading sharing the bed!
No firework babies, how disappointing.
I'm liking getting into the habit of lavender baths, no clary sage or anything else until after tomorrow night firework display on the base, I want to meet the baby but don't want to miss fireworks [spoilt child emoticon!] I was telling MW anytime after Saturday is good with me and she laughed and said as long as the 2 of you have it all sorted between you!

This thread is great - I have thought of a good thing about my MIL compared to all yours - she doesn't talk to us! We were invited to hers for Sunday lunch for her birthday, which turned out to be hotdogs!! mid October and haven't heard from her since DH emailed her to say which cosytoes I liked as an idea for new baby present so she'll buy a cheap version which I'll have to sell on ebay before buying the nice ones!
If it wasn't for DH Grandma who isn't very healthy (but not bad for 91!) who lives with her we wouldn't go and see her, actually really resent putting DS in car for long drive when she makes no effort, but at least she doesn't turn up at every verse end - I'd have to move and not tell her!

ceebee74 · 06/11/2008 08:06

No bonfire babes then??

Got yet another disturbed nights sleep here - I honestly don't know what has got into DS (Was it you Mum2becks who said since your DD moved to a bed, her sleeping had got worse?) That is definitely the case with DS....grrr! He came in twice in the early hours because he had lost his 'blankie' so I had to get up and find it for him then bounced in at 6.30 (Yorky yes I know that is late to you ) jumped on the bed, realised he wasn't getting anywhere with me and DH so he took himself back off to bed although we had to get up at 6.45 anyway!! Am buying this today in the hope it might keep him in bed My little boy used to sleep through without a murmur in his cot

Fingers crossed for some babies today - particularly baby Saurus HM2J Vbab and Misdee

Oblomov · 06/11/2008 08:24

Any news ?

My mum is here. We went to st peters bf clinic yesterday. Good. Bad last night. I know what I need to do, just can?t do it.
she suggested rugby/football hold, and it is so much better for me. But i still couldn't do it at 10pm, 2am, 6am, only managed toa bad latch.
I need to give it a go today and tomorrow and then decide whether to give up or not.
Atleast my mum is help to help me through this 'trying stage'.
