It's like Mrs Doyle in Father Ted with her Puppies and Cushions thing... MILK AND CARDIES shall be our watchwords... Come on baby, I've even crocheted you a lovely blanket - don't make me come in there with that hook...

Lacks glad to hear about DD, she'll be fine with him in a bit. Is she hostile or just very shy, I missed it in all the memememememe I've been indulging in, sorry

Tinkerisdead · 05/11/2008 12:14

hello everyone, i have decided to just relax about this baby for a while, after my leak and then high blood pressure, its midwife urging me to encourage this baby out..but im not even due so im gonna relax and just halt the natual inductions until next week at least. especially as rutho is having such a hard time..

lacks love the photos, made me properly melt.

Thank you for all the support about my inlaws etc, my SIL wished me dead back in June. She has never apologised yet and hasnt even seen me since i was 17 weeks pregnant and lives two streets away. She rang Dh this week to say "we havent seen you for ages and wondered whether you wanted to come to a fireworks display". errrr no thanks, i cant stand for two hours at fireworks in my bloody state and im going no-where without a heartfelt apology. Apparently i'm one selfish bitch for risking a home birth and DH is an arse for allowing it, it'll be his fault when his wife and baby die! i wouldnt mind but she has had a baby!!!!

In fairness to DH though, he is a diamond. He's done all the cooking cleaning etc. i cant manage the ironing and so he asked his mum, she moaned that she'd jarred her shoulder (but looks after DH's niece for 4days/nights each week) and so he was fuming that we've had no help. he's asked his step mum and she was willing to help with it. my in laws really are odd, my own mum is 1.5 hours away and the in laws are the only people i know around here. they just turn up unannounced always, and say "oh i thought you'd be having a nap or in labour"
so why knock on my door then??

chocolategal · 05/11/2008 12:17

well i have just made up my pram myself! if only to show baby how pretty it is and encourage his arrival!

everything seems a bit stiff and clunky tho, guessing after the 100th time it has been folded and unfolded in boot of car it will be a bit smoother!

daisy it is descriptions like that that make us want our babies here NOW!! so so cute.

chocolategal · 05/11/2008 12:21

drswife i am trying to be patient too, i am due a day after you i think and am just glad that i am keeping well and trying not to get too hung up on methods to get baby out! (just yet!!)

rutho indulge away

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 12:26

Didn't want to suggest that to you Chocgal but yay! My Buzz was stiff at first too and tbh stayed pretty stiff but you'll get used to it.

I think that is very wise DocW you don't need added pressure if you want baby to appear, relax...

Am still completely amazed at your SIL but lets forget about her as she won't be doing your need for calm any good.. Gimmee her postcode and I'll pay her a visit too (I am half Italian remember! ).

rutho apologies if you've said already but thread moves so fast, have you had a sweep at all? if you've had so many contractions etc it may be possible and help get you more established? xxx

LackaDAISYcal · 05/11/2008 12:33

rutho.........your sense of humour through all this is amazing. Can't wait to meet you and your bub in RL

I'm liking "Come on baby, I've even crocheted you a lovely blanket - don't make me come in there with that hook..." for the next thread title

DD is just a bit confused; separated from mum for the first time ever, confronted with baby, but mums tum is still big, and she has taken to screaming in a glass shatteringly high pitched fashiom at everything. She is still a baby herself as well.....it must be very confusing for her.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 12:35

I had one on Friday, DW, seems to have done naff all! Gonna ask for another one tomorrow when I see her again. Mate, I'm not even due til the 12th and I wouldn't be nebbing so much about it if I hadn't had all these contractions! Well, maybe a bit, but just in a "ooh, I wish this baby would come early" sort of a way.

Why, why are your inlaws so shite? Did they go to a special finishing school to learn behaviour like that? I am banging my head on the wall thinking about it and I don't even know them. If you were having a nap or were in labour they would probably be offended by your gross selfishness in not answering the door! Can you not get some kind of restraining order?

I am sure I have been obsessing about birth so much that I have actually forgotten what babies look like so I am going to go and look at Lacks's photos again.

By the way, is fancying Barack Obama totally worng? I have been watching the news so much now I am starting to think he's a total hottie which I'm sure is the wrong attitude to key world events. Getting far far too shallow but maybe its hormonal.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 12:37

Aw, poor DD, Lacks, it must be well weird. My nephew claims to be scared of my bump and he is 5, but he is a bit odd.

I have no SOH in real life, hon, I am very shy and nerdy in person! But yes, that IS the next thread title, no? Sicker than the average bear...

ceebee74 · 05/11/2008 12:38

daisy how lovely - so it is possible to be besotted by more than one child then?? (just something I am a tad worried about!)

Sparks deffo have a nap this afternoon if DS is in nursery - make the most of it!! Re teething - that is not what is upsetting DS's sleep as he got all his teeth before he was 2 and tbh, they all came through without any problems/pain etc. Maybe he senses something is going on??

HM2J sorry you are feeling down about the situation - perfectly understandable and non wonder your DH can't concentrate either!!

Saurus re your paternity leave question - unless your DH's company has a special policy about paternity leave, statutory paternity leave has to be taken in a block of either 1 or 2 weeks (it can't be the odd day here and there).

Hi to everyone else - sending baby vibes to everyone who wants their baby now - I certainly do!!

Just been to the MW's for a check-up - all is well but baby seems to have swung into a back-2-back position after weeks and weeks of being the other way but as the MW said, doesn't really matter now

Tinkerisdead · 05/11/2008 12:41

rutho my in laws are truly classic. Honestly i could write a book, how my SIL ruined my wedding, how she demanded money for childs trust fund at xmas despite having presents, how MIl cried that she couldnt be at the home birth, how the baby must be called jack after grandad who's name was John....but this one i loved best...

MIL used to have a key to our house. When SIL had her baby (17 months ago) i told DH that SIl wanted maclaren techno buggy(she was after it at baby show but price was too high)
DH buys sister the buggy and loads of blankets etc. She calls him and says i dont want this buggy, ive decided i want a different one now. Take it back and give me the cash instead. We agree to collect it that weekend. instead i come home that day to the buggy in my lounge, she got the key and dumped it with post it note "please give me the cash asap".

oh and i too have forgotten about the baby in my tummy it moves so little now, i actually forget someone is in there

Betti · 05/11/2008 12:41

Hello ladies

Sorry haven't been on for a while so lots of catching up to do.

EDD is today and I'm thoroughly fed up now. Was so convinced this baby would be early. My mum is here to help with the dcs, DH is working from home and I've had endless texts/emails asking if it's all happening. I feel an utter failure

Just been to see MW who won't give me a sweep until 41 weeks and she's booked my induction for 17th November. I really really can't face waiting that long. My life is on hold. I hate leaving the house, I can't book anything. The DCs are bored waiting. Help Help Help.

Can someone remind me what the natural prostaglandins are.

Sorry for the 'feeling sorry for myself post'. I'm sure there are lots of us in the same boat.

Off to catch up now.

Quick update - back at home

Last night cyril wasn't doing well on the CTG so they took me to a delivery room, hooked me up to another machine and ordered me to be nil by mouth again.....

2 hours later the registrar was fairly happy with cyril's tests - he'd been extremely active - good boy!!! Should have more variation on the readings but it wasn't as flat as it had been earlier.

Sent home at 10pm and promptly had a curry!!

Rang at 730 - bear in mind I am classed as priority.... Sorry, can you ring at 1100......Sorry, it's been horrendous, can you ring at 1300......

So.. if I'm urgent what are they saying to the non urgent cases? Ring next week / month?!!!

Can't be helped, they had 3 babies in distress at the same time when I was in last night so it's obviously hectic and, whilst cyril isn't happy anymore, he's relatively ok.

Hopefully I'll be in soon.....

Sorry I'm not replying to anyone again but I'm here, on the edge of my seat, waiting and trying not to stress.....

Love to all.

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 12:49

Ceebee yes I have considered that he senses something is up but I also think teeth are part of it as he is constantly putting finger in mouth saying 'sore' and his cheeks are bright red sometimes. Prolly combination of factors but going from 1.5hr nap and sleeping 7:30-7:30 to no nap and sleeping 7:30 to 5am is sooo unlike him! And typical that he does this when I now have little over a week to DDate!

DocWife honestly am stunned into silence.

Hey Ceebs, thanks for pat leave answer!

Betti HUGE hug, join the misery huddle! Loads of us feel absolutely shit, so you're in good company. I have this mental image of all these hugely pregnant women trying to type, cry and eat chocolate at the same time, all over the country.

Misdee, [bites fist in shopping lust] That is SO cute... Do they do them in a size 14? Bugger the baby, I want one.

Mummynic, poor you, hang on in there. Good luck to you and Cyril, hon, it must be worrying but I bet it'll all be fine. Vbab's hosp was sending people away the other day (I think it was her) and mine was 5 beds off closing admissions in September, so I reckon there's a huge baby boom on. Non-urgents are getting told to stand on their heads with the big cork in, as far as I know. Fingers crossed for you, love, and hope you get seen soon, you're doing the right thing trying not to stress.

I have just done a bad thing. My boss texted me to say "Any news yet?" and I texted back saying "Yes - Obama won, yippee!". I am so getting the sack when I go back to work.

Tinkerisdead · 05/11/2008 12:58

betti
evening primrose oil, take orally and insert capsules in your bits.
sperm is prostagladin and orgasms release oxytocin so sex is good
bounce on birth ball
take raspberry leaf tea
if you feel braver take caulopyllum
eat loads of pineapple, bout 7 a day i reckon
clary sage oil

take your pick!

LadyBuzz · 05/11/2008 12:59

Hey everyone I am home. In pain but home . I will post my birth story on the postnatal thread. It wasn't exactly straight forward but we are both fine.
Congrats to Cricri and Autumlady on their babies.
Jay is just gorgeous, he is the double of his big brother but has dark hair instead of red. Bless him I could cudle him all day long!
Hope everyone else is well I will catch up soon!

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 13:01

Hugs to Betti & MummyNic* that is rubbish for you both.

Betti you are NOT a failure at all! You can always try some of the fanjo stuffing techniques mentioned previously.. as for the natural prostaglandins think you'll have to wait until DCs in bed.

MummyNic was wondering what happened last night. Glad all ok with Cyril, big hugs and hope things get moving asap.

Lovely choice Misdee but I am now banned from Next Directory! (self imposed)

DH has just heard his Xmas leave cancelled due to office politics - someone else's line manager has a problem with his line manager and is pulling rank. That bitch, there is no bloody need for that, it's a pure and simple power trip. That was supposed to be our first Xmas together as a family, we were going to stay round my stepmum's for the first time ever and she will be gutted, I don't know how to tell her. Fuck.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 13:07

Hey Ladybuzz, sorry to hear you're feeling poorly but glad to hear you're home. X-posted again, got to stop doing that...

ladybuzz welcome home, i'm off to read your story.
rutho is there any chance dh could delay paternity leave til xmas and piss his management off more? dont know what support you have immediatly after the bith but lots of people on MN say they preferred DH to take paternity bit later. not sure how you'd feel about it?
hana i feel akin to you, blood pressure issues and a rotten cold.. we are following a path my friend.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 13:20

Gotta go, I am too pissed off about this xmas hols thing to do anything about anything and need a lie down as it has made my contractions go mental. I need to get a grip before DH comes home. Can't believe this.
