Agree with Ceebee, this rutho situtaion, is getting bloody silly.
My mum prays for me every day. I am not a committed christian, but I love the fact that she prays for me. She arrives this morning.
Anyone else want me to ask her to paray for you. That these babies come out, like NOW ?

I do think, that by skimming the thread, it is clear, that we do have quite a list of people who have had enough and want their babues out - misdee and Drswife could be added to this list, non ?
Anyone else. you can be paryed for or not, as the case may be, but if you have had enough, add yourslef to the list.

Even if you don't want to be prayed for, we can send big virtual hugs and some of ChocO's PMA.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 09:24

Hey M2b, you did all that and still no baby? Ungrateful little sod! Can you get your mw to do an internal to check for dilation and then sort of suggest a sweep while she's there? It's not like you're early...

I hope for your sake you get a lovely speedy labour (but not too speedy!) and have that Phoebe from Friends "ooh my waters just went" thing rather than this stop start rubbish, it is vey tedious and irritating. I am considering pouring a couple of pints of water or something into my pants and squelching down the road to the mw centre as a cry for help!

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 09:30

Obs, I had almost forgotten that there was a baby in there to come out! It feels more like a concrete bowling ball most of the time, bless it. I hope it's okay in there. It seems to be, otherwise it wouldn't be so bouncy...

I guess we all know that this shit is time-limited but a day feels like a week at present. I am so glad for my advent calendar - each piece of choccy gets me a day nearer to my 42 week time limit... 21 days to go, and therefore 21 pieces of dairy milk - that's nearly a whole bar!

Oh, by the way, 39 weeks today! Woo! Isn't that the offical 9 months, at 13 weeks per trimester? Result!

misdee · 05/11/2008 09:33

38 weeks exactly for me!

come out baby, come out today! i'll even missd the fireworks for you if you want to arrive now.

i will have lots of lovely colustrum and milk for you. and a lovely sleep nightgown, warm socks, hat and cardy ready and waiting.

please come out now.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 10:12

It knows it'll have to give up pizza once it's out, Missdee, babies are very clever. You made me go all ooey thinking about putting the little 'un in all its little tiny weeny sleepsuits and hats. I'm going to go and cheer myself up by looking at my baby clothes and I might have a go on the pram as well. Also I will stop calling it names when I think it can't hear me...

Hey, baby - like she said, food and cuddles out here, lots more room to stretch out in and far less RLT...

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 10:13

Ceebs This is the first 7ish wakening we have had in over a week! My DS been up at all hours too so am in same boat as you. He has teeth coming in at back (2 now thru so only 2 to go!) and I think that has a lot to do with it as it is not like him either. Is yours (finally finishing with) teething or are his all thru?

Haey Ruthy I am the same with the emotions, it is just this stage of pg I think. I am banned from watching the news and everything! IMHO men are fixers by nature and if they can't fix it they get scared & impatient and start lashing out (usually at the person they would prefer to be fixing healing. Hurt the one you love and all that... Doesn't really excuse his behaviour but it my amateur psych way of rationalising it all!

OP posts:
ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 10:23

Like it, Sparkle, just wish it wasn't also combined with stupid male pigheaded refusal to look facts in the face e.g. he thinks he's had no sleep (so where was he at 4:30am when I was downstairs on the sofa?) but says I can just sleep when I want to at home (no I can't, I'm uncomfortable and insomniac with contractions during daylight hours as well). I'm at home doing nothing all day (not true, I am tidying, cleaning, organising stuff for when the baby comes, internet shopping all the xmas presents and batch cooking very, very slowly - as well as Mumsnetting) so he doesn't have to lift a finger when he gets in.

He also said that paternity leave was going to be a pain cos it would set him back 2 weeks at work and just involve looking after me and the baby. Felt like saying either "Well, just stay at fucking work then, we'll be fine" or "If having a wife and child is such a damn inconvenience for you it would have been nice to know that about 6 years ago and I could have saved you all this trouble". It's like all I do is sit on my arse and sap his will to live. Which is probably about right, if you asked him right now.

Sorry, just feeling very unwanted, can't imagine why with a positive cheery demeanour like this...

chocolategal · 05/11/2008 10:28

morning everyone!

now lets see what i can remember!
rutho and misdee cant believe you are both still having such a hard time of it!
both still have your sense of humour tho!

hey obs no signs of baby from me but you will be one of the 1st to hear when there are
glad things are sounding more positive for you, as ive said before, i think all you new mummies are fantastic still being on this thread and offering support to everyone else, and by hearing your story it makes me realise that there is still hard work to come but you can manage to get through it! so thank you for sharing with us.

mum2becks hoping the mw gives you a sweep today, i know the mw's here will do it from 39weeks

sparkle i wish my DH would "fix" up my pram so i can start experimenting with it!

right, off to shower and catch up on the american news, hoping when i pop back there will be more baby progress!!

Rosa · 05/11/2008 10:44

Hello hello,
Well lovely day in Italy today so warm that swelling has doubled - When saw doc yesterday he said I always wear colourful socks - I replied its as I see my feet so rarely that a flash of colour lets me know they are still there- (plus they are like pop socks so easy to pull on and off !!!!)
Misdee and rutho hope that your babies respond to all the tempting things you are telling them !
Mum2becks good luck with the sweep
Oblov - whatever you decide that is right for you and your baby then good luck - it is your decision .
Must dash (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and get dd from nursery.
Have a positive day all.........

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 10:53

Mum2becks will keep fingers crossed for u that things start moving soon. I can see me going over my date this time too so am trying to set my expectations accordingly but understand it will get very frustrating.

As for DS sleep, gawd only knows what happened there! He has always been such a good sleeper that even 6am is like middle of night to me. He prob won't sleep again at nursery today tho so I will be back on the 5am shift tomorrow...

Liked Misdee's take on coaxing the baby the out with promises of milk and cardies!

Oh dear Ruthy it is worse than I thought then, 'cannae fix it' mixed with 'poor me' syndrome. Now that is a very difficult one! What's ur postcode then, I'll pop it into satnav and come and give him a bashing, it is the only way... I think all the start/stop has taken his eye of the ball, just wait until u really are in labour (and make sure you have long nails).

Ooh which pram did you get ChocGirl?

OP posts:
ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 11:03

On the subject, and this sounds REALLY silly, how am I going to actually know when I am in labour? DH cannot take any more time off work for false alarms and his work want him to take paternity leave in a 2-week block, so I have to be really really sure it's the real thing if I call him to say it's started.

I thought it might have been kicking off again early his morning but obviously no dice. Apart from it carrying on and getting worse, which it kind of is doing every time it happens, what else? I mean, could my waters break and still no baby come? I am still getting the mucus every time I go to the loo, how long is that going to go on for?

Probably unanswerable "how long is a piece of string" type qs, just wish my mw hadn't said she thought it was going to le the weekend just gone.

I bet I end up having a home birth by accident cos I'm worried about another false start!

Heartmum2Jamie · 05/11/2008 11:07

Morning everyone! I don't want to make light of real depression, but I am starting to feel "depressed" and like I may as well give up and schedule my induction. I am now a WHOLE WEEK overdue today and if it is possible, my belly looks bigger this week and hasn't dropped even a single sodding millimetre. We even dtd last night and all it did was make me sore and unable to sleep. I am actually going to have to give in and try oral, much to my dh's delight & ammusement.

At least I have managed to work out that clary sage oil brings about contractions, either through bathing, massaging or sniffing, but they fizzle out after a few hours. Even my dh has lost the motivation to do anything. He is supposed to be at work, but is just sitting in his office/garage.

Come on baby, we are ALL fed up of waiting for you.

...stop it you lot, you're making me blush. I'm just happy to help.

Rutho, can you take some painkillers and try and get some rest? I'm worried you are going to be burnt out before it gets to the bit that's hard work. Your DH needs to appreciate just how much of a work out labour is, and with SPD it's even worse; I was having to suck on the gas and air just to move my right leg.

Obs, I think you are making the right decision regarding feeding. Lord knows it's hard enough without all the added stuff you have going on. Fingers crossed you can turn it round thouh

My little charmer decided that as my milk is in and deelicious he was going to drink it all night. Finally got off to sleep at about 5am and then DS1 was up at 7 for shool. The wee man is well fed and oblivious...bless

chocolategal · 05/11/2008 11:14

aww heartmum have you had a sweep? does the hosp want to induce you?

sparkle i got the quinny buzz 4, which looks lovely in the box! grrrr, bad DH!!
can you nap this afternoon, so if you are up at 5am tmw it might not be as bad? (who am i trying to kid, i know!)

rutho the way things have been going for you i would think every contraction is the "real" thing and think you do so well to stay calm!
but once your waters have broken, they will only leave you so long (its 3days here) before baby HAS to come out due to infection risk!
so you want a crochet hook to break them?????

misdee · 05/11/2008 11:21

can i have that crochet hook as well please?

contractor is here fixing main bedroom floor, as much as he can due to the fact that as we had minimal warning he was coming all the furniture is up there still. its very noisey. and both pairs of my glasses are still in the main bedroom so i am squinting at the screen a bit. He has checked that its just a creaking floor problem and not that all the floors are going to cave in at any moment, and we are safe (phew!).

Oblomov · 05/11/2008 11:28

Thanks daisy.
I too love misdee's coaxing out promises of milk and cardies.

Now what else can we use to tempt them out ?

misdee · 05/11/2008 11:30

offering malteasers the other night didnt work.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 11:47

Chocgal hmm, crochet hook, you say [evil grin emoticon]. It just so happens I have such a thing...

I am going to have more painkillers as late as I can put them off as I took some at 4:30, then 8:30 and if I carry on I will be taking the last ones at 4:30, ith nothing for the night!

Have tried waving a baby rattle shaped like a wickle bunny near my bits in an enticing fashion and saying "here, baby baby, look at lovely wabbit!". Might go to see Bond movie tomorrow or Fri to see if the explosions and gunfire make it jump out in surprise! Misdee hope your noisy contractor causes the same to happen for you...

Heartmum you poor thing. I have not told DH about the oral thing yet as (and this'll make you laugh) guess what one of the things that brings on my pregnancy nausea? There is no tactful way of telling him that apart from "it makes my knees hurt after a bit" to spare his feelings.

By the way, if you do accidentally have the baby at home wht happens? Do you call the paramedics or something?

MonkeyMargot · 05/11/2008 11:51

Morning all (only just!) Had a mega lie-in til 9am today - DH even brought me a cuppa cha in bed - unheard of! It's my EDD today - so c'mon baby, where are you? Your tardiness is concerning me as I am a most punctual person.
Virtual hugs to those whose DH's are being less than understanding (rutho and misdee). I think it was sparkle who said if they can't fix stuff they lash out at those they love. So true. And also to HM2J who is sounding properly fed up .
obs despite no sleep, you DO sound more positive today. Cuddling can heal more than a thousand words.
lacks glad your little one is feeding well, even it does mean you get zero sleep.
Yesterday, post-Sainsbury's delivery, DH tries to get some icecubes out of freezer, and ends up pulling EVERYTHING out that i've only just managed to squeeze in, along with all the batch cooking I've been doing. He throws a most toddler-like tantrum, ends up breaking a glass, and then decides the freezer needs de-icing....arse.
I left him to it.
Unfortunately, it seems he does share some of his mother's genes.
He did take me out for dinner though. I did feel last night as though something might be starting, but no - da nada!
Have been on long brisk walk with dog, scrubbed the shower, and will be cleaning floors in a bit. Hoping this will help.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 11:53

Hey, Lacks, your milkshake brinks all the babies to the boob... (with apologies to both you and Kelis)

Okay, the lack of sleep is starting to show a bit now.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 11:58

brings, even. Still crap, tho, sorry.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/11/2008 12:00

virgil (yup, tis his MN chtname) is snuggled on my shoulder sleeping and dreaming and just let out the cutest little giggle and smile......I nearly melted; I'm besotted

rutho your idea about sorting through baby things is good; visualisation can help

bless all the men . there is obviously something about new babies that makes them regress themselves!!

DD got a little closer to virgil yoday, and actually gave him a cuddle . she is slowly coming round

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 12:02

Ruthy call the hospital as soon as you are getting regular, strong contractions. They will keep you right about when to come in.

ChocGal OOH a Buzz 4! I recommended it to my friend who is also due Nov/Dec as I had the regular Buzz with DS and it was good. My main dislike was the 3 wheels so I think the Buzz 4 (wheels) is a better idea! Good choice.

Yes I could prob get a nap this pm as DS in nursery today so will make most of it!! Trying to get things done this am in preparation for a relaxing pm aaah!

C'mon ALL babies whose mums are fed up.. MILK AND CARDIES WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE!!!

OP posts:
sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 12:09

AWWW! Lacks (god I am welling up again!) that is the moment we're all waiting for!! Sooo cute.

Good news about your DD too (hope on that score as well then..) - my DS does NOT like babies much less ones his mum cuddles at toddler group
