vbab my DS got very clingy when I was very pg with DD1. He also, weirdly seemed to know that I was going to have DD2 the week I did. I do think children pick upon things that we may overlook.

Rutho I think I will get the haircut. I remember henna well. Used to wrap my head in clingfilm..looked a bit like an alien. I'm a bit tempted to get some now you mention it.

Pinkyminkee · 04/11/2008 21:55

lacks I got skin to skin with DD2 in theatre. It was quite funny really, she kept trying to climb under the tent- clearly wanted to go back in for a bit!

chocolategal · 04/11/2008 22:18

ruthosaurus · 04/11/2008 23:30

Hey all, I'm off to bed after a very mood-swingy evening. Contractions are driving me nuts again so not surprised really...

DH says with a bit of luck and hard work tomorrow night we will be sleeping in our own newly redecorated bedroom! I am going to transfer the clothes to the new wardrobes tomorrow, in the hope that this may kick-start actual active labour instead of this crappy latent stage.

Love and positive baby vibes to all and here's hoping for an end to this, eh?

PS Vbab I got my horrible waterproof mattress cover thing from ebay and it will no doubt protect the mattress from amniotic fluid but it does make the bed VERY sweaty... But then what doesn't these days. It was about £3 incl p&p and arrived v quickly and is basically a big plastic fitted sheet, nice. But better than forking out for a new mattress, eh? Nighty night.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 05:41

Sorry for hogging the thread so much recently but I just wanted to say that I got woken up about 2 hours ago by really painful contractions and decided to come downstairs rather than disturb DH for nothing again and I just turned on the computer and found out that Obama won, so for some reason everything seems much more possible again!

Okay, I will bugger off now before I have to start a new thread all to myself...

Yorky · 05/11/2008 06:57

Good morning all, serves me right for whinging yesterday 5.26 a little voice starts chatting in his cot this morning!! Can't wait till there are 2 to gang up on me!

Reflexology was wonderful, after (literally) biting my finger ll day to stop me slapping DS and feeling tired and not shiny all day it was lovely to spend an hour with my feet up. Followed by a rose and lavender bath, still didn't actually get to sleep till after 1130 which is late for lightweight me these days!

Lacka - you are braver than me with your photos, the earliest ones of DS and me in the pool are similarly discreet and I love them but they are only shown to close friends!

Thanks for the reminder about the mattress protector Saurus, I know what you mean about it being the sweatiest thing you've ever slept with! We bought one to protect our lovely new mattress after DS threw up on it (can't even blame hormones for that logic!)

Glad you're pleased with the American result!

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 07:04

Well, it put things in perspective a bit... YOu still feeling all nice and relaxed?

Yorky · 05/11/2008 07:11

Bad mummy alert, can't stand lazytown so he is now watching balamory cos our sky+ is full of it!
I've had a cup of tea and done yesterdays washing up and am trying to get up the motivation to put the bins out, but its cold!
MW and wax this afternoon

Yorky · 05/11/2008 07:14

I know its a bit late to ask this, but what have you all done about changing bags? I LOVE the skip hop double duo, mainly for the way it fastens to the handles of my side by side double, but given my Yorkshire roots I can't believe I'm even thinking about spending £70 on a bag!!

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 07:14

Ooh, wax...

I was considering calling the MW to ask stupid questions about my contractions but am too embarrassed to do so. Plus, she's coming round tomorrow morning anyway, but these are really quite painful. Problem is, I can't time them as they make me go all woozy so I can't really tell when one's started until its well under way! I'm off for a bath to see if that helps. I may then watch Lazytown just to get in practice...

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 07:16

Sorry, changing bag - the free Boots Parenting club one - it sort of goes with the black and silver pram I have and was free with the purchase of one bag of Pampers Newborn if I signed my soul away to Boots, so really cost £3.59 or similar. It's not gorgeous but it looks okay...

ceebee74 · 05/11/2008 07:17

Morning

God DS has woken up in the foulest mood this morning - very unlike him!! He has done nothing but whinge about everything (including the fact that Diego was not on when we came downstairs ) 8 o'clock and nursery can't come soon enough today!!

Saurus would love to watch the news about the American election but see above Really hope this is it for you today - bonfire babe would be so cool!!

Daisy you are an absolute star Thanks so much for asking about the bottle feeding - I can't believe you were thinking about it when you probably already had so much more on your mind. Do you know I am so glad that your baby was due in Nov and you are on this thread (and I think I probably speak for most of us here!)

ceebee74 · 05/11/2008 07:19

Yorky x-posts. We got a M&P one for DS which is still in one piece so am just going to carry on using that one - wipes and bags will do for both children anyway so don't actually need that much more space for baby.

But I have seen a Radley one which I really want but DH has put his foot down

Yorky · 05/11/2008 07:23

That's more my style Saurus, bought one off ebay for DS cos I wanted winnie the pooh, then was given one that looks like a turtle by DH work which should be fine. I won't really be carting double the clutter around with me, will I?! Just have a severe attack of the I wants!
DH has already bought my 'push present' so can't even try that line of attack! Thats what happens when I leave him minding the stand at a craft fair next to a jewellery stand!

Oblomov · 05/11/2008 08:02

Morning.

Well, I have been up all night. O.K. not officially, not exactly ALL NIGHT, but it FEELS like it. Max was bf and then bottle top up of bf, but not taking that much, crying as soon as I put him down. Or giving me a burp. put down. got into bed. cry. "god give me strength", I said to dh. This really did go on most of the night with little sleep.

Had a long chat with dh last night. Resolved many issues. Mostly me apologising and telling him that I loved him and needed him. Things are alot alot better. We had a cuddle when we got back into our bed - It seemed like a very long time since we have had a cuddle.

My mum arrives today . And I am going to bf clinic. This is bf being given its last chance. If it doesn't sort itself by the end of the week, I am going to let it go. I know that this is best.

Anyway, feeling a whole lot betetr.

Thanks to you guys for all support.

Yorky · 05/11/2008 08:22

Despite a sleepless night you sound better this morning OB, I'm glad you had a cuddle with DH, I'm glad your mum is coming to help, well done for making a decision and putting a date on bf if its causing you extra stress.

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 08:26

Morning!

First of all LOVED your birth story Coolkat!! Fantastic, I really liked how you just got on with your daily routine despite contracting away.. Well done!

Hi Ceebs yes it is really good about the US result, that other guy seemed like Bush mark2! I LOL at your reasoning over the sex of my baby. You and my DH are in the it's a girl camp but I still think it is a boy... Really don't mind either way tho.

Haey Ruthy our flame haired temptress! Hope you are well this am.

So glad you are feeling better Obs, you have had a rough old time of it. You have a plan now so see how it goes... hugs.

Well DS slept til 7:15 this am despite his 2 hr nap yesterday thank u god!! He def still needs a nap I think but I may need to get buggy out for it to happen.. Like having a baby again! Sh*t soon will have two!

Hi to everyone else.

Oblomov · 05/11/2008 08:27

Thanks Yorky.

Ceebee, shall we set up the Daisy appreciation group , or rather fund - ha ha. The woman is a saint, who gives gives gives to all of us, and is so caring, even when she has so much on her own plate.
Her support for me when Cricri, first contacted her, to tell her I was in a real state, when I was in Kings, goes far beyond .......
This thread, would sorely Miss Daisy. Lets hera it for her, I say, yeah, I say yeah, three cheers.
Does that just about cover it ?

misdee · 05/11/2008 08:48

will catch up later. i just want to sob and yell 'get this thing out of me now!!!'

i was awake loads last night, contracting, and stuck to the loo, considered calling midwife out but again everything stopped at 4am. am fed up and tired.

i really cant belive how much i am hating this stage this time round.

and just had a call saying flooring upstairs is being repaired today. thanks for the advanced warniong from the contracters (ie none!!() there is a bunk bed, single bedm and two wardrobes in that room so when they get here i'm gonna have to tell them they cant do the work. which needs doing cos when ou walk across that room its like firecrackers going off.

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 08:58

Morning all,

Obs, that's great news! Sod bfing if it doesn't work out, sounds like a plan.

Agree with yay Dais! Sparkle at least the new one will be incapable of throwing a major league strop for a while, even if s/he will be challenging in other ways... Can't wait though.

DH has just left the house in a huff because I couldn't iron his shirt because I can't move properly for pain. He also said "Well at least you haven't got to actually do anything all day [because I can't, darling] - I've got a really stressful job and then when I come home I've got all this". I feel like a major burden on everyone and don't feel I can go on, I am still contracting like I was at 3am and still no more show, waters or anything, I'm basically disabled and it won't end and I can't even sleep or put my own socks on.

Sorry for me-post whinge, sure it will all be loads better in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, chocolate will see me through...

sparkletoes · 05/11/2008 09:03

Oh dear ruthy sounds like ur DH has a severe case of 'got out wrong side of bed' this am. Don't read too much into that (though Sparkle still would like to hit him over head for saying it!). Silly men.

OP posts:
ceebee74 · 05/11/2008 09:14

Obs I think you have just about managed to cover everything required for the Daisy appreciation society Glad things are better between you and DH - obviously a chat and a cuddle was what was needed! And don't beat yourself up about bf - you are amazing to even still be trying at this stage

Saurus god everyday I pray that I will wake up and find out you have gone into labour as I cannot imagine how much suffering you are going through And grrrr to your DH - he is probably really worried about you and this is his way of dealing with it Now get that chocolate cracked open!!

Sparks am of the 7.15 waking!! DS, who is normally a fantastic sleeper, was awake at 2.30 and 5.15 and then 6.15 for the day!! He is really good in that he doesn't call for us or come into our room - but he has a cot toy which plays music so he just puts that on over and over again which wakes me up and I struggle to go back to sleep whilst I know he is awake iyswim!

ruthosaurus · 05/11/2008 09:16

Thanks, Sparkle, I just feel that he's totally losing patience with me as everything he says seems tinged with irritation, and this gets me upset, which he finds even more irritating... (I could well be reading too much into things, v sensitive to nuance at the mo'). I feel like I'm tiptoeing round my own home trying not to offend anyone and even asking him to take the wheelie bin out to the street is a major favour that I need to apologise for asking. I'm weepy and he's grumpy - where are the other 5 dwarves?

and Misdee, I'm in here with you, hon. Pig miserable, contractions and no sleep is a bad combo, no? Bloody contractors as well, not good.

mum2becks · 05/11/2008 09:17

Morning everyone!!

Still no signs here and am 40+4 today, got MW appt this afternoon so hope she will do a sweep rather than making me wait until 40+7 which she told me last week!! Cant believe I went for a long walk yesterday and cleaned all my downstairs floors on my hands and knees and still not had even a twinge

Sorry to hear you are still suffering saurus think you are having my share too!!! Ignore DH it seems to be a common theme at the minute with DH's saying the wrong thing or being unreasonable, it must be the male way of dealing with it

You do sound a lot happier with things this morning obs sounds like you have a plan in place, sorry to hear you have been up most of the night

Great birth story Coolcat hope mine is like that this time round

Well done to DS Sparkle a good nap and staying in bed until turned 7am whats the secret?? DD hasnt slept until that time since moving her to a bed and I so miss it, we are usually up around 6am now, and thats usually without a daytime nap either, although today was 6.20am so a slight improvement

Hope we will get some more baby news today, who is in the running heartmum?, vbab?, would like to say me but dont think that will happen!! OOh just remembered we have an induction today dont we? but cant remember who it is????
