Morning everyone. Congrats to Autumnlady and baby James.

Just running a bath, I have my last CTG this morning, and I've remembered to not take my blood pressure tablet.

Seems almost pointless as I'm being induced tomorrow!!

I text my MW twice yesterday for my sweep that she promised me last Thursday and I'm still waiting for a reply . I understand if she's too busy but to not reply is quite rude I think. So I've given up and will just go in tomorrow but I had hoped it'd start and I could have stayed at home for a few hours first.

Welcome back Daisy I will read your birth story after I've had mine!!

chocolategal · 04/11/2008 08:45

Have left a comment on your lovely birth story daisy

i had that snot like discharge yest, a bit of "SHOW buisness" do we think!??

will catch up properly later

Pinkyminkee · 04/11/2008 08:55

ooh choc snot, jellyfish, all sounds promising!

Have fun with your pram. Took us ages to get the hang of our first pram- a bit like putting up a deckchair

vbab78 · 04/11/2008 09:07

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT. But no change here except for a really bad mood that wont lift. Not lost "anything" from "down stairs" since that on the loo last night. NOT A BLOODY THING! Wasnt trying to be funny. So doubting myself as to whether it was a show or not. But if it wasnt then it worries me even more what it could be. Baby still moving fine. DH after the blood I think (even though didnt say in as many words) was worried I was losing baby (prob memories of miscarriage before this pregnancy).

Even though I had in my head that all pregnancies and labours are different I just thought like with DS a couple hours after the show pains would start and continue until baby born.

Tinkerisdead · 04/11/2008 09:43

Morning all, Im waiting for the midwife to come back, she is worried about my blood pressure 130/90 and that im swollen and wants to rule out liver function probs/pre eclampsia(dear lord please do not let me end up in hospital with induction for pre eclampsia when i have tirelessly found lovely indie midwife to support homebirth)

Took the caullopylum...piss all!!!! actually thats a lie i had chronic period pains at 8.30pm, again and 11pm and some more this morning. Enough to take my breath away but not enough that they are "contractions" arsebiscuits! I have taken no more herbs!
I have horrible sore throat, which im sure midwife is taking as swelling around my face!

daisy your birth story is fab and i absolutley love the vision of Dr Ed trying to look up your fanjo! hilarious. You've written it so beautifully that it made me very calm about intervention.

To everyone having a bad time, postnatally and antenatally a big hug... and thank you to the ladies who have their babies who are sticking around to support the rest of us who have NOTHING HAPPENING DISPITE SWEEPS AND HERBS

Morning all.

I thought of a lot of stuff to post on here at 3am when I was in bed unable to sleep and now I have forgotten it all . Oh well!

No baby for me yet but I have had an update from Pinkali.....

She and baby Esme Grace (who is gorgeous as she's sent me a pic!) are still in hospital as Esme is being tube fed and they are both on antibiotics as they might have infections, they will be in a for a few more days. She sounds upbeat though and wants me to say hi to everyone so "Hi"! DW I am with you on the to the lack of movements. I am getting a bit annoyed with my LO and its refusal to enter the world - surely all the poking at it and bouncing on a birthing ball I am doing can't be fun for it in there???

Right - gotta go, accidentally got up late and I have 2 dates today! Have a great day all. x

LolaBella · 04/11/2008 11:08

A huge congrats to Autumnlady and new baby James
Cricri is very quite this morning, maybe things are finally happening

Oscar is still gorgeous but just won't settle at night . He is happy to sleep in three hour blocks throughout the day but come night he just won't go down.

Does anybody have any advice on cracked/bleeding nipples? I had to express from one side last night as Oscar just would not feed from that side but when i expressed there was quite a bit of blood in my milk. How bad would it have been if Oscar had fed from that side and drank the blood too?

Also, Oscar has his heel prick test today so not looking forward to hearing/seeing him in pain

Good luck to everyone today, will hope to hear some more baby news later

Pinkyminkee · 04/11/2008 11:21

lolabella- ouch= poor you!

Bit of blood in the milk won't do Oscar any harm.
Best advice I had was to keep the nipple moisturised- lasinoh is good if you're not allergic like me- and not let them dry out.

People used to say let the air get to them but all that does is cause scabs that get cracked everytime you feed/express and mucho pain- so keep them moist and in bra or top with clean breastpads.

Make sure you get plenty of help with maintaining good positioning.

HTH

sparkletoes · 04/11/2008 11:38

Hi everyone

Congrats to AutumnLady and welcome baby James!

Have to say I am reading the posts about bad MILs. They sound like a very selfish and childish bunch. Funnily enough my sister's MIL looks exactly like MonkeyM's and she is a right ole bugger too! Maybe they breed them to look like that.. My sympathies with you all they are not what you need.

Hope things are progressing with those of you in the sick of waiting club! Also sympathy for those fed up with constant txts from well meaning but annoying F&Rs! I decided this time around to be vague with my due date (mid Nov instead of 14th) as I know that would get on my nerves too!

Ouch Lolabella can only echo what Pinky has said, keep them moist with a bit of your milk rubbed in and def some nipple cream. I used the Avent one last time it seemed good to me but there are loads available...

Hugs and waves to everyone else.

Hi all,

Morning morning, what time do I call this, eh? Disgraceful.

Lacks, just read your birth story and you've got me welling up here. Well done, SO proud of you! I am still nicking the name Finlay, tho'

I have decided to do sod all today, maybe henna my hair if I can be bothered, but will sit around drinking RLT. I have roped DH into the "let's get this baby out of here" project by asking him "hmm, do you know anyone with a ready supply of prostaglandins and a useful cervical applicator?" and once I'd explained what prostaglandins were he was more than happy to help. he says he doesn't mind feeling like a turkey baster in the interests of science...

So have applied prostaglandins and drunk my RLT and am patiently waiting...

Love and hugs to all who are also sat around like impatient blimps - Choc, DW, Vbab, MM (anyone else, I'm sorry, I'm tired and have no brain) - do I need to get the ol' drinks trolley out again?

Yorky · 04/11/2008 12:04

I loved the mange too massage bar from lush on my nips when feeding DS, it smells nice, is easy to apply, and edible so it doesn't matter when you put it on. Agree totally with not letting them dry.

DS has just fallen asleep in his pushchair on the way home from mums and tots which proves he shouldn't have woken me up at 10 TO 6 this morning!

Had a couple of twinges but pretty sure they're just braxton hicks as they don't hurt. Kind of reassuring as I don't remember any BH last time!

Saurus, how many quotes of the month have you come up with on the thread? Love the fact that you had to explain what prostaglandins are! DH offered to make me a milkshake after he read over my shoulder to see what I was laughing about when someone posted about absorbing them through stomach. [green face emoticon as in ill not envy!]

sparkletoes · 04/11/2008 12:06

Just got a minute to read your birth story Lacks, well done! That does explain why Facebook kept telling me you had gone off line about 9pm... but how on earth did you even stay on (& posting) that long!!

Fantastic story tho and very encouraging to read. Well done!!

I also LOL at MW saying you were 'good to go'!!

OP posts:
ruthosaurus · 04/11/2008 12:09

Oh, Yorky, even my DH wouldn't suggest that milkshake! BAD man. What else has he been putting in your food, eh? Ewwwwwww.

Hey Sparkle, how you doin'?

sparkletoes · 04/11/2008 12:12

Waves to Ruthy also liked your explanation to DH! They are so innocent aren't they !!

At least your DS has done the decent thing and fallen asleep Yorky! Mine also up at 05:30 and was showing signs of sleepiness at 11am but has now got his 2nd wind and is charging around living room! Am exhausted just watching him, where do you take the batteries out again?!

sparkletoes · 04/11/2008 12:15

I am so tired and crippled by back and hip pain Ruthy but haey the end surely must be nigh for us?? Keep me laughing, it is best anaesthetic!

Oh, I can't remember if I posted this useful link but it has really helped me get a PMA back after the last few days:

link

Don't worry, it's not that one about the footprints in the sand, it's actually about labour!

It's especially helped with the nagging feeling I've been having every time the contractions go away again, namely that I was imagining it and that I'm either Yorkshire's biggest drama queen or going a bit mad. It's so tiring and painful at the time that I think my brain is coping by blanking it out afterwards and making me go "Huh? What the hell jsut happened there? Oh well, la la la la, better make some curry/tidy the living room..." when I've recovered a bit. Does that make any sense?

sparkletoes · 04/11/2008 12:25

Yes that is good link Ruthy liked the 'watched pot' analogy!

Yes total sense.

OP posts:
ruthosaurus · 04/11/2008 12:51

I also found a real witches' site written by midwives for midwives that was going on about women making a massive fuss about it and being like spoiled 3 year olds who won't leave the playground, so I had to have a word with myself about high blood pressure being bad for the baby... Ooohhhh....

sparkletoes · 04/11/2008 13:01

Hmn perhaps best not to read those sites Ruthy!

Every job has its awkward customers after all why should MWs think they are any different?! Esp as their 'customers' are in real fecking pain at the time!

OP posts:
Rosa · 04/11/2008 13:12

Lolabella- i was told to try ( and it worked ) of all things from health shop - ( not a toy shop !!!) white clay . Get it in powder form and then you make a mixture with water on - it has an amazing cooling effect and healing effect. It is easy to rinse off. I had kamilliosan ( sp) and found it rubbish .
Hope it gets better soon - very paniful I agree.
I had check this am and am 2cm dialated but no signs of contractions apart from the pm BH. SO doc says it could just be passive and I could go anything from now to 2 weeks
Sparkletoes / Ruthy hope that the pain eases soon . I am no way as bad as you but have given up getting comfortable .
Off to veg on sofa whilst dd asleep!

sparkletoes · 04/11/2008 13:33

Ooh that sounds interesting Rosa never heard of that one.. I also hated kamilliosan too greasy for me.

That is encouraging you are 2cm already, things are starting off at least...

Washing my porch did make baby turn to OA position but it has slipped back to OP again (hence crippling back pain). Am now going to take leaf from Yorky's book and try to take DS out in his buggy to see if he will drop off. Either that or he will scream blue murder in shops.. wish me luck!

Dozymare · 04/11/2008 13:38

lolabella come and join us on the post natal Nov 08 thread, I think you and i are twins!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty sure you had Oscar last thursday????

I am also having huge problems feeding - seems as if we all are??? Maybe we have forgotten what a nightmare the first week is and are jsut rememebring the lovely snuggly times that come later I have a BF lady coming out to see me tonight - the MW's are not much good as really don't know that much about taking thyroxine with BF. Shw was recommended by a friend of a friend and works with NCT so knows her stuff.

BABY ALERT

Just had the following text from CriCri

"Hiya, I had a little boy today at 4pm, Jay Charles 8lbs 1 oz. Hope you are well speak soon x.

Then is says message forwarded from Ladybuzz. Sorry fogot earlier in all the excitement about my own delivery.

Soooo...presumably, Ladybuzz has had her baby and by the sounds of it, Cricri is on the way!!!!!!!!! I know they were text buddies so makes sense..................anyone get a message or have I totaly misinterpreted that text

ruthosaurus · 04/11/2008 13:41

Hey Rosa, 2cm - I am so but in a good way! I hope your baby comes soon, hon. Have a good veg - I have just put the henna on my hair - gosh, that was harder than it normally is - and now I am off to knit and listen to the radio while drinking RLT. Have just realised that my life is like something off The Good Life...

Did anyone else watching that kind of wonder whether Barbara secretly wanted babies? Or is that just me and my broody thing I've had going on for the last gazillion years.

Sparkle, good luck and, if you are feeling mean and naught, why not take him into shops where you've had crappy service before...
