oh heeby really good luck for tommorrow. I guess in a way ELCS is a good thing in that you can plan around it, i haven't had one but i think recovery is worse than normal birth but then you don't have all that pushing so i guess no way is better than the other. How exciting for you, bet you can't sit still today. On the "will i besoted by it" thing, i will admit DS1 i was in love with straight away, but when they gave me DS2 for some stupid reason i expected him to look like DS1 when he was born so i kept thinking he can't be mine!! He was born about 5.30 and it wasn't until in the night that i feel in love with him. So tip - don't expect them to look like a replica of the other child!!!! ANd i am sure you will be just as besotted. A mothers love can stretch so so far. I did take a toy in to the hospital which i said to DS1 was from the new baby, i think a few people do that, its quite nice and makes them feel special.

Anyway back to work - GOOD LUCK xx

Joolsiam · 16/07/2009 12:02

Ooh how exciting Will be thinking of you Heeby It must be very strange to know that tomorrow is the day

Enjoy your last few hours of being mummy to one

SparkyMalarky · 16/07/2009 12:06

Oh Heeby how exciting An ELCS is fine - and recovery is still better than after an EMCS am sure - I had a ELCS with DS and it's a very surreal day when you suddenly find out you're having a baby tomorrow!! (unless of course you go into labour today......) And in 24 hours you'll have your lovely new baby (who you'll adore just as much as gorgeous DD!)

Will be thinking of you and keep us posted - don't forget your big pants and lots of arnica

C1NDY · 16/07/2009 12:22

Heeby GOOD LUCK for tomorrow, looking forward to seeing a picture of your little bundle..... you must be relieved that you only have one more day to go... and yes, I guess it will be different having another... other people tell me, you love them all the same and they are all different!! ENJOY.

Take care
Cindy

WanabeMum · 16/07/2009 12:28

Aww good luck for tomorrow Heeby, I'm sure all will be fine and have no doubt that you will love this one the same as you do your DD. Hope everything goes smoothly and they don't keep you in any longer than they have to.

Take care and update us as soon as you feel up to it!

yellowflowers · 16/07/2009 13:28

jools alerted me to your c-section tomorrow heeby so just popped over from ttc thread to say hi and good luck. x

wasabipeanut · 16/07/2009 13:47

Helloooooo,

Hope everyone is good. I got to hear my little one?s heartbeat again yesterday as my totally wonderful midwife managed to find it with her handheld bit of kit. Given I was only 11+2 I thought that was quite impressive although if last scan date is still correct then I am prob measuring about 12 weeks by now. Have got my NHS nuchal/dating scan next Weds and that will be it for a while!

Spats I totally get how you are feeling about the swine flu thing. I have dropped my usual, somewhat cynical stance about it all being a bit of a fuss about not a right lot. I?m a bit scared about the implications for my DS and little peanut. Much as I would love to keep DS in until Autumn 2010 I don?t really think it?s an option so short of being vigilant on the handwashing and asking DH to use alcohol gel on his hands after getting on and off trains/tube that is about all I can do.

Funtime Great news about the scan but not that you are feeling grim. So much for the 2nd trimester being easy street eh? I guess your bean hasn?t read those books either! I just hope you feel better soon and that LO continues to thrive.

Smiley Best of luck with the scan.

I have saved the biggest one for last. Heeby GOOD LUCK for tomorrow. So exciting. One of my best friends had an planned CS and said it was a really good experience ? totally different from her 1st emergency one. Just think, tomorrow you will have your baby in your arms.

Can?t wait to see the news x

Pezzina · 16/07/2009 14:30

Hi everyone - sorry I haven't been about for a while but have been super busy at work.

It seems unreal that I go on maternity leave in two weeks time. The temp to cover my leave starts on Monday and I've been trying to get everything organised for when she starts - but not having much luck! Ho hum.

I had lots to catch up on - but it seems good news all round - apart from Funtime not feeling too good. I agree with Heeby - perhaps have a look at your iron levels? Good news about your scan though

Wasabi - so glad your little bean is doing well and that you got to hear the heartbeat again - its such a wonderful thing, I certainly haven't tired of hearing it each time I go for a checkup with the MW

Heeby - what fantastic news! This time tomorrow you could be holding your new baby! Good luck with it all, sweetie - I'm sure it will be an amazing experience and you will have no trouble falling in love with the new little bundle.

Right - back to work for me. Love to everyone else I haven't mentioned xx

nelix2000 · 16/07/2009 16:11

wasabi thats wonderful news!...its amazing isn't it?

I will be back online a week tomorrow, will try and access mobile internet while away but seriously doubt I will have time....I hope to hear good news all round and take care everyone, see you soon!(I will check back in again tonight tho

funtimewincies · 16/07/2009 16:40

Oohh, all the best Heeby and how exciting that you'll meet your little one soon .

Thanks for the suggestions. I hadn't really thought about iron as they tested as 'really quite high' at about 12 weeks and it hadn't occurred to me that they might have dropped. I know that my bp is bordering on the low side. I'm usually 110/75 but it had dropped to 100/60 at my last appointment.

Great to hear that this bean is behaving wasabi.

Heebychick · 16/07/2009 20:13

Guys guys wow .... you are all so lovely!! i have been welling up reading all your supportive and loving posts, wow we are a great group huh!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I feel totally different now than this morning, after the pre asses this afternoon i came away feeling secure, in the 'know' and very excited, nervous but in a good way. It is so calm and surreal but lovely to know we will meet him/her tomorrow.

I did bathtime instead of DH tonight, he quietly left me to it and i was so grateful, DD and i read books, splashed about and had a really nice cuddle before bedtime, we are up at 6am tomorrow so i guess it'll be a bit of a rush!

It's so weird to think it's all planned etc, i keep thinking what a shock to baby it might be! and yes i agree with you all, after my last EMCS it has to be better (hopefully) i have been taking arnica and have all the big pants a girl could need!

nelix yes you are right, it has been such a journey and i remember asking you about the donor etc! can't believe it's gone by so quick, we must keep in touch - all of us!

Lots of love to you all, thank you so much again.

Speak to you in a few days (with pics!)
xxxxxx

ps wasabi great news about bean ... lovely to reach this stage safely, well done honey.

smileycat · 17/07/2009 11:21

Heeby I couldn't get on line yesterday but good luck for today, I hope if you have already had him/her it has all gone acording to plan and you now have your little one in your arms.

I had my scan today and it was sooo lovely to see her again, she is measuring well & is 4lb 4 at the moment and they said if I go full term to expect her to be about 7.5lbs, so really happy about that. My cervix is 5.5cm long and closed which is great, means I'm not going to go in to labour just yet & will hopefully make it back to UK before the birth. They also swabed me for step B as they think this is what started me off early with ds, so should get the results back soon. But feeling very happy today all is well.

Glad to hear everyone else is doing really well. I finish work today for so will be unable to get online as much as I would like as my computer has gone back to UK & I can only access the internet through the library which is a bus ride into town, but I will def check in in a couple of days time to see how Heeby has got on & to see the pics of the new addition to our little thread

funtimewincies · 17/07/2009 20:24

Lovely to hear that the scan went well smiley and congrats on finishing work .

C1NDY · 19/07/2009 12:38

Heeby thinking of you, can't wait for you to get back online to let us know the news.... (Cindy sounds the drums to roll)...

Heebychick · 21/07/2009 22:06

Big drum roll please ..............

Well this is obviously a GIRL thread!

Gracie was born at 12.55pm on Friday after a very civilised and calm c-section. Can't believe i worried about it as it really was magical, i am recovering well (thank you Arnica) and have just come home tonight.

It's so lovely to have our little family complete and although we were in a tiny way hoping for a boy it hasn't entered our heads and we feel so blessed to have 2 beautiful DD's. She's the best baby and so calm, she feeds every 4 hours and sleeps for the rest of it, she wakes in the night with a small polite 'snuffle snuffle please may i have some milk mummy' no noise or shouting (Heeby waits for the storm to start though now!)

So there we are, all fine and happy. So pleased we chose the csection route, the surgeon said that there was no way i would have given birth naturally and the section was exactly the best option, which made me feel really good about it. She had a 37cm head and was a big girl ........... 10lb 1oz! She had a slight problem with her blood sugars levelling out but they were soon sorted out ok.

So happy to be part of the new 'girls' thread .... thank you everyone for your good wishes, i've been dying to get online since Friday ... resisted taking blackberry into the hosptial.

who's next???!!

SparkyMalarky · 22/07/2009 09:36

CONGRATULATIONS HEEBY!!!!!!

such lovely news and I love love love the name Gracie!!

Sounds like it was exactly the right decision, and what a big girl - no wonder you were so uncomfortable at the end!

Hope you're getting plenty of rest and not so little Gracie stays the perfect baby!!

My beautiful girl sounds like she's waking up so had better get he shopping away before she does....... xx

smileycat · 22/07/2009 10:40

Smiley Well done on finishing work. I hope you enjoy some relaxation time now!

Heebychick · 23/07/2009 13:03

Wow september is going to be a busy month - all you drunken christmas ladies eh

Gracie is doing really well, we found out today she has a slight tongue tie so will have that sorted tonight (ouch) which could explain her feeding, she feeds really well but keeps coming off and on making me quite sore, so hopefully that'll be easier soon.

I forgot how unpredictable babies bottomd can be once the nappy is removed! wee everywhere at nearly every change! gosh and they poop sooooo much. i changed my other DD last night before bed and wow she is huge! with long legs and big nappies! tee hee.

So glad the maternity leave is starting soon and smiley that you are enjoying yours, although moving countries can't be much fun at your stage.

Thank you for the comments on her name, we were worried that Grace or Gracie is quite common so we gave her a really hippy middle name! plus altho we loved the name daisy, at that size she ain't no daisy! bless her xx

nelix2000 · 23/07/2009 15:32

Heeby thats great news!!!! congratulations to you all!!!!! wow she is a whopper!!!girls all round!!! so good she is feeding so well!!! phoebe is up to 5 hourly feeds now but is so hungry ALL the time my milk is not enough so she has one formula feed a day that seems to be helping her.

Glad everyone is doing good!

My holdiay was hectic but good! on the plus side DS toilet trained in 3 days!..dry at night too!still in nappys at night but he doesnt wet them!

OP posts:
funtimewincies · 23/07/2009 18:54

Wow Nelix - can I ask how old your ds is? After 2 months of trying we've admitted defeat and put ds (2.7) back into pullups. If he can be persuaded/bribed onto the potty enough times he can be dry all day and is great when we go out for little trips, but if he's not in the mood or a bribe isn't in the offing it's wee/poo all over the place . He's no closer to asking for the potty or telling me that he needs a wee than week one (heavy sigh emoticon).
