Hello! still no bloody labour! she is going to be late I can feel it lol!!! DP is off for two weeks now so wil be typical I won't go into labour!

Everything down there feels really pushed out and a bit tender don't recall that with DS. I have been offered a sweep on my due date if I want it. Midwife was lovelly but never did the scoring thing. You know where you are told the babies head is 3/5 engaged etc. I wonder if that only happens with the first? as they engage much much sooner. Well at least since she is not here, I can get my final assessment for uni done in peace.

heeby you are so right, the whole process is amazing. We are all getting towards our due dates and its wonderful!!

I have given in waiting every day lol and am just enjoying the time to relax/finish uni instead.

Anyhoo enough about me....How are all the bumps doing?moving lots I hope!

Ahhh that's girls for you! my DD stuck fast for 12 days over my due date! Every day i had pains and twinges but nothing .... grrr. To this day she is still stubborn!

Ho hum, at least you can try to relax a bit like you say.

Bump here is doing well, i have another scan tomorrow and MW appointment which is nice, i like chatting about bub and seeing hm/her again will be lovely, will try hard not to look for 'bits' or 'non-bits'!!

Where oh where is sparky!!

SparkyMalarky · 17/05/2009 10:37

Hi all - sorry, didn't get as much time off on mat leave as I'd hoped!

DD arrived late last Sunday, 5 days early after a couple of days of on-off labour. My waters went on Saturday morning and a consultant was brave enough to induce a VBAC - so was put on the drip Sunday afternoon - and whole labour was over in less than 7 hours. It was a bit fast at the end, and needed some help from a ventouse, but we're all good!

DD is tiny and gorgeous and we're in the newborn haze but loving it!

heeby - although i was geared up for another section after my waters broke, I'm so pleased I pushed her out!! Although my stitches are sore (and my pelvic floor ain't what it was a week ago ) i feel so much better than I did after the cs - so it was well worth it!

nelix - my BH got steadily worse at the end of last week (although she wasn't engaged on Thursday!) and I felt a bit odd before things kicked off - how you feeling hon?

How's everyone else? lots of wriggling bumps? jools - thinking of you too.

Heebychick · 17/05/2009 19:29

Fab news Sparky Our first GFJ drinkers baby !!

WanabeMum · 18/05/2009 13:06

Wow congratulations Sparky!!!! That's fantastic news. Has she got a name? Glad to hear you are all fine.

Nelix looking positive for you, hope things start moving a little quicker for you though, i can imagine the last bit is very irritating! At least you can get uni out of the way

Well 21 weeks according to MW, 21+5 according to me. Very eager now, want the next few months to fly as can't wait to meet my little one face to face. I'm sure the anxiety of my first labour will be making me want it to slow doen or stay away towards the end but at the moment just want it to be all over! Very impatient you see , i know i'm supposed to be enjoying this whole pregnancy thing, which i am, but i'm eager to have the strong movements and arms/legs sticking out of your tummy now. I've wanted to be a mum for as long as i can remember (granted i'm only young)and i'm getting very axcited at the prospect!

How's everyone else doing?

WanabeMum · 18/05/2009 13:07

funtimewincies · 18/05/2009 18:56

Congratulations Sparky and welcome to your dd !

Heeby - I did the same with ds and got away without a stitch. Dh's face when I admitted what I'd been doing to prepare was a picture!

spats · 18/05/2009 19:37

congrats sparky horray 1 down how many to go???? I did a massive spring clean yesterday (must be nesting bit early!!) and my back is killing me. I walk like a 90 year old! must realise that i am 4 years older than last pg and my body is obviuolsly not as keen to do stupid things anymore like cleaning.

Nelix,my 2 DS were both late so i am expecting to go over the 40+ point but fingers crossed for you.

Nice to hear from you C1ndy - hope you are doing OK. x

C1NDY · 19/05/2009 08:38

Spats I am well thanks. What a rollercoaster. Well I am taking time out and will begin the journey again in July. I can't wait to start... this time it will be different and third time lucky, I am forever the optimist. I read all your messages from time to time even though a little upset as I am not on this journey with you, I am happy for all of you that you are all getting there - Hope to join you all before you all get your bundles

Heebychick · 19/05/2009 08:53

funtime thank you so much .... that has given me a huge boost thank you!! Yes my DH walked in last night to me shoving the door closed again and yelping as i quickly compossed myself! tee hee - i am determined to not tear tho .... although i am not sure i am doing it right but i figure any amount of pulling/stretching/oiling will help!

And i have some news which is making me even more determined .... i had a 32 week scan yesterday and they did a growth scan as part of it, turns out baby has an 'off the scale' large head and tummy (and short legs so maybe a hobbit?) it is on the 97th centile and estimated weight is 4lb11oz at the moment ... ouch. The notes say in bold 'this is a large baby' Great.

So lovely to hear of all the impending births, it's like the excitment of waiting for the the BFP's all over again! spats i am the same as you, i hoovered last nite and back is killing me today! tut tut!

cindy lovely to hear you are keeping positive, stay with us and we can all join you on your journey soon enough (whilst we are up to our eyes in nappies and milky boobs!)

smileycat · 19/05/2009 11:50

My niece who has 6 weeks to go had to go into hospital last night because she was leaking fluid, my sister said that the babies heartbeat is fine & he is kicking her as normal. I am waiting to hear back from them today to see if they managed to stop the fluid comming out...I guess if they can't they will have to deliver him early.

On another note I got tingly boobs yesterday you know the kind when baby needs a feed & they spring into action, so I gave one of my nips a gentle squeeze & a bit of water fluid came out....oh know its starting to happen, this pg is really true & I'm really going to have a little one in around 15wks time...panic .
One of the girls I know brought me in a huge bag of 0-3 baby clothes today, its like Christmas I got so excited looking through everything (& its all pink)& soooooo tiny

WanabeMum · 19/05/2009 12:07

Aww thats so lovely smiley, very exciting. We bought a few unisex body suits on the weekend and I couldn't get over how small they are!

Heeby I'm going to ask you to be very graphic and share your words of wisdom with me. I'm terrified of tearing or needing to be cut so anything i can do to help minimise my chances of this would be brilliant!

Nice to hear from you C1ndy glad your ever the optimist! Hope to see you back on the thread soon.

Funtime how are you? Haven't heard from you for a while. How many weeks are you now? All well and happy?

Heebychick · 19/05/2009 13:49

smiley so lovely to hear your body is getting ready, it's so exciting eh! i love getting all the clothes etc from others, it's like some secret mew mum society that states that you must give away lots to any new mum ... it's fantastic and DD has loads of lovely new things - in fact i remember going home from work with armfulls when i was about 7 months and hiding myself in the 'nursery' to put all the new things in the drawers ... i must of rearranged this a hundred times!! tee hee - tell me you did the same !!??

wanabe ok here goes .... and huge apologies for others not wanting this mental image! Sigh thank goodness we are all strangers in RL!!. So i am also terrified (more so now i know it's a biggun) of tearing and having an episiotomy (sp?) so i asked around and did some research and it seems almond oil is the best thing to use as well as perenium massage. so every night after a bath i follow a routine, i slather on lots of almond oil and somehow (it is a comical site i am sure) stretch and pull the skin and that area in general - i think they say to pull until it 'burns' to show you are doing it right, and then hold it there for a few seconds. The idea is to get that area moisterised and supple and stretchy before baby comes. I looked it up on google (i hope we don't have an internet history report at work!) and this is a good link massage and this one more massage

i have spoken to so many people who swear by it and have less damage ... so i'm willing to try anything! Also have a look at chemist direct on google - they sell almond oil and it's quite cheap.

good luck!

Heebychick · 19/05/2009 13:49

ps apparently i've also been told giving birth in a squat is the best for not tearing!

smileycat · 19/05/2009 20:07

My niece is ok thankgodness and back home safe & sound
Heeby because we are moving back to the UK at the beginnig of Aug I can't put anything out in a nursery, can only pack it up ready to move, so not quite the same as putting it in its right place although I do remember doing exactly that with DS

I have bought perfect delivery perineal gel from Mothercare, you start to use it 6 wks before your due date to soften the area.
I had to be cut with DS as he had the cord around his neck a couple of times & I have been told that once you have scar tissue there you are more likely to tear or they may cut you again as it won't stretch as well second time around, I think thats the bit I'm really not looking forward too it was really uncomfortable for at least a wk after the birth

funtimewincies · 19/05/2009 20:09

Heeby - I had pethadine which completely knocked me out and I couldn't stand up so did all the pushing on my side, NOT the best position ! I was too embarrassed to confess to what I'd been doing with the oil (sounds a bit too kinky ) but I'm convinced that it helped.

Wanabe - thanks for asking, I'm grand. I'm 12+2 and have given in and gone into stretchy trousers. It's very annoying but if I want to buy short-arsed sized maternity jeans, the shops have to order them in specially. It seems that you're allowed to be petite or pregnant - not both! The sickness has finally gone and I'm now eating for my country, which might go some way to explaining why I no longer fit into my jeans .

Hope that all is OK with your niece smiley.
