Hi, I'm also on the June thread but officially my due date would be 4th July 2009 so thought I'd better set up a thread for all these summer babies.

Got 3 BFP's yesterday although technically I am only 3+2 weeks. Would love to symptom spot with fellow early testers. Surely there must be more of us out there !! I can't be the first

Hello all,
can I ask - are any of you still breastfeeding or did previously when pg?

I am still bf my 16mo ds, and really don't want to give up, but feel I need to at some point, as I'm sure to get tireder (he feeds around 2-3 times every night - during the night), and I usually feed him morning and evening as well - AND I work full time in quite a stressful job..

Not quite sure how to go about it. He is completely addicted, and I also feel attached to bfing... very sad.

I'm also a bit nervous about the effect on this pg - can it cause a mc? will it take the vitamins etc. from the new baby?

ANyone have any advice?
thanks!

Hello everyone - I'm new to Mumsnet. I'm 6 weeks pregnant with 2nd baby so my due date is 07/07/2009. I've got a nearly 3 yr old girl

What does BFP stand for?? I'm finding my second pregnancy so different from 1st one - I'm getting bigger already!!! God help me, there are so many weeks to go!!!

muppetgirl · 10/11/2008 20:33

Hi Gillyan
BFP is big fat positive (I had to check the acronym list too as I had no idea!)

naturopath · 10/11/2008 20:46

oh, and hello Gillyan, Christiana and everyone else! Not wishing congratulations as a bit supersticious about it all, but tentative good wishes!

Hi Mamamimi - I had a nuchal scan at 13 weeks with DD. Mum and DH were keen for me to have it - although I was a bit worried that if we got bad news DH and I would disagree about what to do. Luckily all was OK and we got some great pics of DD! I know they want me to have one this time around as well (I'm 36). Still thinking about it but will probably go for it to keep them happy. Do you get nuchal scan on NHS - we have to go private.

Hope everyone feeling OK - I'm still tired and completely gone off food in the evening but starving during the day. Exactly the same as last time.

Marsmonster · 10/11/2008 21:01

Hi Christiana - My DH took it as 'doctors' time last time and no one questioned it! But not sure legally what they are entitled to.

I'm wondering about a nuchal scan too, Mamamimi. Just had a conversation with DH where he basically said that he would 'consider' terminating a pregnancy with big abnormalities, and I said I wouldn't. I think if I think I wouldn't even consider it then what's the point of testing? Except of course it could give me peace of mind for my whole pregnancy, and otherwise I'd be left wondering.
We did it last time. Oh - and of course its £200!
Hmmmmm. Dilemmas.
How's everyone feeling this evening? I am SO HUNGRY today! Ate my packed lunch by 10 am this morning and need to take twice as much into work tomorrow! Hows everyone else doing?

LargeGlassofRed · 10/11/2008 21:58

feel very emotional today, snappy and very tired.
Working night with not much sleep doesn't help.

woollyjo · 10/11/2008 22:08

Hi Mamamimi I will be having a nuchal, we have to pay for them round here so I sold my car in the spring then had a mc so the money is still sitting there.

I'm 35 and the risks have risen considerably since I had dd (nearly 2). First time round I wouldn't have considered a termination whatever the result so didn't see the point (I did have the 16 weeks bloods though)however this time I feel I have to consider dd and the impact it may have on her especially if ultimately she may need to become her sibling's carer.

Must get on and book it as it will be around xmas - don't want to tempt fate on the mc front though.

Just popping in to say CONGRATULATIONS to all the new mummies-to-be

knax and scully - am delighted to see you on here. Hope all goes well this time around. x

Am hoping to be joining you all shortly after a bumpy time myself. Trying not to get hopes up too high.

QueenFee · 11/11/2008 00:32

Naturopath - it is perfectly fine to feed whilst pregnant and the two of them after if you so wish. Its called tandem feeding some info here
oficially and there are some good books on the subject. Get in contact with your local breastfeeding support group they will have more info on it. I was given info on it when I did my training so if you are stuck I can dig it out for you

I am feeling quite good so far - like you I am just waiting for all the horrible stuff to kick in full time!
I just want the date of my first scan - I might believe it properly when I have seen it!
Congratulations to all the new BFPs

scully · 11/11/2008 01:05

Hi Jaamy, hope you're on hear soon with us
Looking forward to hearing how your scan goes Christiana, my dd2 will be 3 next month, on Xmas day actually
Have booked a gp's appt for Tues next week when I'll be 6wks and will ask her for a scan at 8wks. I know a lot can happen between 8 and 12wks, but having had 2 previous m/c which would have showed at an 8wk scan, I would rather know earlier than later if there is a problem.
I work 3 days a week, in a team of all women, should be interesting keeping it from them for the next 7wks

muppetgirl · 11/11/2008 08:00

I think keeping it from anyone is going to be a bit tough! My tummy is so bloated at the mo I do look like I've eaten all the pies! I can't wait for the 12 scan either as I had a mmc between my boys leading to a erpc at 14 weeks (as the 12 week scan wasn't done until 13 + 4) just want to see a baby there. My ds 1 is off school at the mo due to runny tummy so I am busy with both boys at home so at least that is taking my mind of the waiting. Dh doesn't think we'll be entitled to an early scan as we had with ds 2 as he was fine. Does anyone know whether you would get an early scan if your last pregnancy was okay despite having a previous mc? I supoose it comes down to NHS budgets really...

Am finding the mornings tough as I can't seem to pull myself out of bed. Quite happy for ds 1 to be off school!

Have been lurking for a few days, have had BFP but am not sure how far I am, could be july or june. have a scan thursday. Am in a state of shock at the moment. Quite tired and a bit nauseous. This is number four for me, was pretty ill last time, hopefully it wont be so bad with one. will add more details when I know more (as I might have to move to June thread!).

Sounds very normal to be weepy Christiana, with the overload of hormones we all have right now. It's also normal to be nervous about a scan, whether you have bad memories or not. How many weeks do you think you'll be on Friday? I would suggest waiting until you are at least 8wks, if you are earlier and they can't find a hb, the waiting is awful.
Wow, dc4 Lyca, how old are your other children?
