Hi, I'm also on the June thread but officially my due date would be 4th July 2009 so thought I'd better set up a thread for all these summer babies.

Got 3 BFP's yesterday although technically I am only 3+2 weeks. Would love to symptom spot with fellow early testers. Surely there must be more of us out there !! I can't be the first

Christiana I am sure you will be ok. It is natural feeling anxious. I am with you, though, feeling worried myself. This is my 3rd pg (have ds 3, dd 17m) and I am still fretting about mc. I just want to reach my scan date and make sure all is ok. I am pretty sure most of us on this thread can't wait to reach that milestone.

Naturopath how fantastic to be bf your 16m old. I am very envious as I am absolute terrible at bf (both times have had awful experiences only managed 4m w/ds and 3 1/2m w/dd). I am hoping 3rd time lucky but will cross that bridge when it comes.

Does anyone else feel like they either want to weep or bite someone's head off? I forget this irrational emotional roller coaster.

mum2boys2girls · 11/11/2008 13:34

Christiana I think my parents will be surprised and probably have fears that I am addicted to pregnancy! which I am not , Financially we are fine we both work , me part time my DH job is as sercure as anyones in this difficult climate, it just I am sure I will get alot of are you MAD but my eldest three are at school and our little one is an angel . I am finding it very hard to keep it quite until we have that 12 week scan and I know all is well It will feel like a huge weight is lifted of my shoulders when everyone close knows.

MissPaella[loving the name] I am also feeling like I could cry at anything or snap or the smallest thing !! Off to work now I am loving this thread its a just what I need to keep me going xxxx

Misspaella · 11/11/2008 14:05

Mum2boys2girls - can't believe this will be your 5th dc. I love big families (being the eldest of 7 myself).

Well I have just had my 1st public breakdown. DS 3 decided to run across the road on our way home from preschool. I was in shock and so angry with him. Thank goodness there were no cars. Just lots of tears from me in front of my mommy friends.

To top my 'great' day, my DH as called and his company is making redundancies. They have called everyone in the office to pre-warn them they are starting the process over the next week.

I feel sick with worry and had another meltdown. I called my mother for more crying (and of course telling her I was pg) and I feel not at all better my at least have stopped sobbing.

And I can't even have a glass of wine to soothe me.

I am not sure if I can bear more bad news today so may just stay in and not answer the phone.

Sorry for being such a damper.

Hope everyone else is doing better.

Evening everyone, welcome to all the new people! another moody tired person here. Wouldn't mind joining you in that spa christiana.. Spent a lot of the weekend arguing with DH.

so sorry to hear about your DH's work misspaella really hope it will be ok.

Mamamimi: same age as you and I have decided to get a private nuchal scan before xmas (also not available on NHS here) as I also am feeling anxious about the increased risk of abnormalities and the possibility of miscarriage. Seems it is a very stressful time for a lot of us and I don't think the hormones help at all.

Naturopath i am still bf usually twice a day don't know if want to tandem feed when the time comes though as I found one challenging enough in the early days. Hoping he will just go off it but no signs as yet...

naturopath · 11/11/2008 21:20

hello all,
sorry everyone feeling rotten. Also starting to feel tired and a bit spacey. Thanks for your messages on bfing - I had considered tandem feeding, but as my ds fed on average 1.5 hours out of every 2 hours for at least 2 months, and then every hour for an hour for a long time more.. it was pretty exhausting first time round. I don't think I could do that again with another one feeding as well! (although I recognise that was a bit unusual - he was v colicky and refluxy, didn't sleep and cried a LOT) ... also, as I said, my job can be quite stressful and v long hours at times, AND ds wakes up at least twice every night.. so.. continuing bf him might just get to be too much at some stage, and I think I'd rather stop while he's feeling settled and secure (rather than when a competitor's on the scene!).

Anyay, did well last night - only fed him once in 24 hours!!!

Re the scans- I think I'm going to ask if I can get a scan at 8 weeks - they did that for me when I was pg with ds because I had had a mc before him. And, coincidentally, I started bleeding the night before the scan with him as well, and had a terrible thinking it was another mc - even the dr at the scan said I might mc after the scan, or I might not (great words of encouragement!).. so I might see if I can get one this time. It would really put my mind at rest.

nervousmum2b · 11/11/2008 21:36

hello, im new to all of this. i got my BFP 3 days ago- think im 4 weeks today. I will be due july 21st. This will be mine and DH first baby- im excited but very nervous-scared of all the things that can go wrong. Going to get my pregnancy confirmed on friday at the dr's.
congrats to everyone else. x

london11 · 11/11/2008 21:59

Still tired and nauseous here. Had major panic on tonight along the lines of OMG what am I doing, will I remember what to do....etc Of course I dont mean it, just hormones I guess Looking forward to telling my mum this weekend, she will be chuffed.

naturopath · 11/11/2008 22:04

congratulations nervousmum2b - but just to warn you, the first dr appt can be quite an anti-climax. Mine said - oh, pregnant are you. ok, thanks for telling me, bye. oh, which hospital do you want to have the baby at? - oh, you don't know yet? well come back when you do.

Marsmonster · 11/11/2008 22:39

Hi everyone - sorry to hear some of us having tough day today. Hope you are feeling a bit better now. Nervousmum2b - congratulations. It's natural to be scared at the moment but you must be over the moon.

London11 - I had a bit of a panic last night in an 'OMG what am I doing - DD is only a baby herself'(she is 10 months)! Worried about how I will cope with 2 but only time will tell.

NattyTomAndEllen · 11/11/2008 22:54

mars i totally understand that, my son was only 4 months when i found out i was pregnant with my daughter. u will cope, and they will be the best of friends being that much closer than alot of siblings.

so gosh hasnt the list grown? ive been a bit lax on it, ive had two days of stress lol!
my washing machine broke down, and both my kids are in cloth nappies! oh so stressed.

is anyone finding the run up to xmas just unbearably stressful? is it the hormones or me?

Marsmonster · 11/11/2008 23:02

Thanks Natty - I am sure it will all be ok. We planned to have 2 this close together so that they would be friends.

Feeling quite calm about xmas at moment but then remember that I also have DD christening on 7th Dec and 1st birthday on 21st Dec - now feeling a bit more panicked!

ray81 · 12/11/2008 08:50

Hi guys can i join.

Got my BFP yesterday after 5 years of trying and 2nd month of clomid. I have had 2 Mc before and am realy scared that it will happen again keeping everything crossed that it wont. I am 4 weeks and DD would be 22nd July, i already have DD and BD is feb so will be so nice to have a summer baby too.

I have strange pains in womb area like sharp pains, i'm thankful that they arent like Af pains but still worried. is it normal to have pains at this stage ?
I think i will get an early scan at the docs as am on clomid so could be multibles and also have has the 2 MC.

nervousmum2b · 12/11/2008 09:04

thanks for the warning naturopath i just want to know for sure- as long as they say im pregnant they can say what they want and they wont get to me!! we are so happy. (grin)

Swinging wildly between fatigue and manic activity. Hoovered the house top to bottom yesterday, and our poor carpets rarely get a seeing to more than once every two months . I even cleared out three months worth of old snacks, scribbled pictures and lost gloves from the back seat of the car.

naturopath I'm bfing my 2.4yr old. We night-weaned her at about 21 months, cos she wasn't showing any sign of giving it up spontaneously so that might be a compromise for you? Also, when your babe is born, your DS will be that much older and more capable of understanding that baby gets first dibs and he, perhaps just gets a morning and evening snack. Just a thought.

And some older ones do self-wean when Mummy is pg - have one mate whose first-born did just that. Cut right down when she was about 3mnths pg, then gave up completely at about 7mnths.

No idea what DD will do - instinct tells me she won't give it up, she's a very boob-orientated child and I find it both nice and useful. Milk will change to suit the newborn, but part of me wonders if continuing to bf her (and I know I'm lucky to have this choice) will help her to not feel too pushed out by the interloper .

QueenFee · 12/11/2008 14:33

I keep sleeping in in the mornings I am so tired I am sure they suspect something at school. (I am normally very punctual!)
Ray - I also have had af like cramps for the last few weeks glad its not just me as I was worrying. My sickness is worse in the evenings probably because I am exhausted.
Great to see so many here

Mij · 12/11/2008 14:59

Forgot to say - had GPs appointment this morning. Just for a laugh, thought I'd mention possible home birth and tandem bfing, and to my disappointment he took it all in his stride, and said 'well with a second one, you'd better start filling the pool at 38wks' - hadn't even mentioned a pool. Typical - was up for a fight and turns out he's one of the enlightened ones

Anyone else experienced the new NHS online 'book and choose' appointment system? 'Tis brilliant, think it's being trialled in only a few areas, but basically you're given a log-in code and password, and can book yer own ante-natal appointment. So have booked for 19th December - hoping to be able to tell folk before Christmas (although the size my stomach is already I think wearing DPs jeans might be a give-away). Although gutted to hear one-to-one midwife scheme has been restricted in my area - was completely brilliant last time

LargeGlassofRed · 12/11/2008 16:36

Hi felt better the last couple of days, not as emotional thank goodness

Brought dp a haynes pregnancy and baby manual today, as this is his first and he really hasn't got a clue, poor thing,

He said to me this morning so your not producing eggs now right?

Also said
'oh think you'd be better havng the baby in a hospital babe, really don't like the idea of you having it at home'

No chance I said!
had the last 2 at home and dd2 in a pool and he hasn't really got a say.

Am sure i'll win him round, my first in hospital was awful.

JODIEhadababy · 12/11/2008 16:40

Belgrano · 12/11/2008 21:11

Hi everyone
Well I've not said hi for a bit - been busy out and about and on trips with work but checking in on you all (slightly compulsively!) via my mobile's browser on the train etc. I feel like a sad case for admitting that! When you haven't told anyone else cos its so early its lovely to be able to talk about it, and with others who are going through the same thing at the same time isnt it? And therefore addictive I spose.
So today's symptoms for me are:

  • Greasy and shiny skin and spotty like a teenager!
  • Windy
  • Very easily irritated
  • Bloated
  • And one I had forgotten all about - breathlessness. Already! Whenever I get slightly nervous I get all breathless.
-Still no sickness, I got it so badly with DD but not until about 7 wks so keep telling myself not to wish it on myself!!

Hope you ladies are all well and not too pukey/greasy/windy (mmmmm, so attractive, the early pg symptoms, aren't they?!)

lydiathetattooedlady · 12/11/2008 21:25

belgrano i appear to have very similar symptoms, farting like a trooper thankfully not too whiffy, my 19mo dd thinks its hilarious. my skin is so greasy and a boil seemed to appear overnight on my face eurgh! not got any sickness really yet but dont really want to eat anything either, which is very unusual for me!

Misspaella · 13/11/2008 11:52

Morning
Seems like the sickness is kicking in with a lot of dry heaving over smells. Very glamourous indeed...

My 17m dd is still refusing to walk (only doing 6 steps at a time when she feels like it), so I am having to lug her about. I hope I don't get too tired and drop her. At least I am not working this time; I can have a cheeky nap after lunch when DS and DD are down.

Hope everyone is doing well and coping with all the bloating, wind, etc etc.
