I think for us it will definately be a name that relates to our cultural identity.. but then thats how its always been done and both myself and hubby are quite traditional.

I really want to name a little boy after his dad and my dad! But worry about pronouciation and things like that! dont want to make the child suffer...

daizydoo · 23/10/2008 16:42

Hi there, panic over with work so I can breath again and start work in 10days time!!

I am apparently having a girl this time! This is according to my MIL and SIL! Dh is also convinced its a girl to the extent that he wont talk about boys names!! We will also fight it out with the very few names we can agree on!! When I was pregnant with DS my Mil was convinced he was a boy and sent me loads of boys clothes I really don't mind if I have a boy or a girl, I will take what ever comes out very happily!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 23/10/2008 17:05

thanks for the hugs guys the meds are kicking in and have been up and about today on the downside it means I'm now well enough to go a pre-school agm that has all the hallmark of a wild west shoot out committee (incl me) are resigning enmass (well are only 5 of us, due to lack of support, finnancial debts, risk liablities etc etc) which without a new committee may result in the closure of the Preschool, Argghhh and I only joined to do a bit of fund raising so a word of warning for a few years time to the first timers STEP AWAY FROM THE PTA!!!!! only joking think PTA's are ok (it just fitted nicely!)it's the preschool management committees that have to do toooooo much staff management etc. ok enough of the rant......

Frazzle good luck for the cvs if dh can't go is there anyone else to take his place? I'll be a couple of weeks behind you so thinking of you...

Justgotabfp- I'm on the ondansetron too....

I want to investigate Irish names, as DP is Irish. Unfortunately, a lot of my favourites are just far too popular now - I want something that definitely isn't in the top 20

I really rather liked the name 'Indiana' (Cote) but with my surname.....???!!!!

zuka · 23/10/2008 17:52

hi ladies,
just saying a quick 'hi' - i've been reading you for a couple of weeks but god knows why haven't started talking yet i'm 11 weeks and due may 14th (for now - dating scan next thursday - too far away!). slightly paranoid here because of a mc earlier this year, but things seem to be going better this time, so fingers crossed and couting down the days till the scan

to the question of names, have got a whole host of girl's ones i like and not a single one for a boy! guess i'll just have to make sure it's a girl somehow

CoteDAzur · 23/10/2008 18:46

Jonesy - I'm assuming your name is 'Jones'? Oh no, don't name your child Indiana

CoteDAzur · 23/10/2008 18:48

Hi zuka - Welcome and congratulations

Evening everyone

welcome zuka

momino congrats on your scan! and bantam73 good luck for tomorrow

Re girl/boy, DH and I were both convinced we wanted a girl. DH detests any kind of sport and I think was dreading the prospect of having a laddish DS into football etc. I couldn't really imagine having a boy at the time, either. However, now I'm pg I really don't mind at all, and DH has got his head around the fact that there are lots of other things he could have fun doing with a DS that a girl may not be bothered about. There was a really good thread a while back by someone who was worried about how much she didn't want a boy, and loads of people came along and told her all the advantages of having boys - it opened my eyes to the fact it'd be just as great to have a boy as a girl.

Re names, I love the fact there's such a variety these days. My parents chose uncommon (at the time) names for me & my brother and we both liked that. DH and I tend to favour uncommon names but ones that are still recognised as 'British'. Though DH's suggestion of Ptolemy is obviously the exception

I told a few people today, including my director at work. He seemed to take it ok but then he never seems bothered about anything much. I am finding this stage of pregnancy (12.5 wks) strange, like a kind of limbo.... I'm feeling lots more normal than a few weeks ago but no bump or any other evidence of pregnancy. I keep having to look at my scan picture to remind me it's real!

llareggub · 23/10/2008 19:22

I have a most definite bump!

We have a boy already and although I don't really mind what we have, I'd quite like another boy just like the one I have already. However he has told me he wants a sister, so there we go.

I haven't been so tired the last day or so, which I guess is about right for 12 weeks. I was physically exhausted after doing the shopping, I bought way too much so the combined weight of the shopping, DS and the trolley made me exhausted. I really need to get back to some sort of exercise. I stopped everything due to my history of miscarriage but now I've reached 12 weeks I am going to book back in with my trainer for a programme suitable for pregnancy. She also does pilates for pregnancy so I might give that a whirl too.

As for names, we still have Edward, George and Penelope on the list but I have a feeling we might be adding some other girls names to the list. Our mothers both have the same name so the middle name is taken care of!

Rubysmom08 · 23/10/2008 19:53

Hi Ladies

Hope you are all well!! I have a private csan tmrw and I am absolutely dreading it I am so worried that I may have had a mmc- how common are they? I have read loads about them on here and it's really worried me as my symptoms has started to go (I'm 10 weeks tmrw)....

TIA

frazzledoldbag34 · 23/10/2008 20:18

Rubysmom08 - it's not at all uncommon for your symptoms to subside around this time. Lots of ladies on here are feeling better now (as am I and have been since about 9.5 wks- am almost 11wks now - and I know my bean is still in there cos I heard it this morning!) Try not to worry and fingers crossed for your scan.

FiKelly · 23/10/2008 20:35

Evening

Yesterday was a really bad day for MS. Ended up going to bed shortly after DS at 7pm!

Today has been better though...although i've been a bit faddish about food. Had to have a boiled egg salad for lunch & wanted big bowl of plain boiled spaghetti tossed in butter and black pepper for dinner?!!! This has to be weirdest food choices yet. Also drinking milk like there's no tomorrow.

frazzle I hope you manage to have someone with you for the csv... if you're stuck and anywhere in the weston-super-mare area i'll go with you

momino great news about your scan.

Jonesy68 · 23/10/2008 20:37

Cote yes it is Jones and no I definately won't go there!!!

Am not celeb unfortunately (or not..) so no apples or Sunday's for us! Will see what feels right for both me and DP I guess...

Rubysmom I do sympathise, had mc earlier this year and it's awful but you must try not to worry or get too anxious because it's not good for you or bean. Scan will reveal all so just try and think positive thoughts. We'll all be thinking of you ..

FiKelly · 23/10/2008 20:42

Oh and my red Isabella Oliver dress I won on ebay came today whoopee I'm so delighted with it I dangerously went searching on ebay again.... I'm now bidding on 2 x Isabella Oliver Maternity Tops Size 4 14/16 (1 long sleeve blue & 1 white wrap over) they've got a couple of days to go but hey if you don't try you don't get.

rubysmom try to stay away from the worrying threads... they're so tempting to read but they just give your brain more to panic over!

alapala · 23/10/2008 20:50

Wow - a few days away and a massive new thread. have been lying low as the migraines have started. These blighted my first preg and I cant belive it is happening again. Has me very depressed and dreading the next few months.

Fortunately my mother has arrived for 2 weeks and taken over looking after us all. She is such a star, DS over the moon and I get a nap every day and dinner cooked for me!

On names my friend always said to pick a name (which with your surname) would work for a Prime Minister or a Popstar - nothing in between would do. DS def more of a PM name..

frazzledoldbag34 · 23/10/2008 21:02

Oh FiKelly that's such a sweet offer, thank you but unfortunately I'm in Scotland! If DH defintely can't make it i'll ask a friend to come. My step-mother would be there like a shot if I asked her to, but not sure I want her IYSWIM. She'd probably stress me out and turn out to be best friends with my consulant or something. MIL would also probably come but again, not sure if I want her in on it - she can be a bit odd. Sorry if that sounds weird - I just know what I was like last time (I had an amnio and nearly fainted and couldn't stand up for about 1/2 hour) - just got freaked out by the weirdness of it. Will probably be v embarrassing again and would really like my DH holding my hand and telling me to get a grip! I think he's trying to wriggle out of jury duty this time TBH as it turns out he knows some background to the case he thinks he's supposed to be going on( bizarrely) and I don't think that's allowed. He's also self-employed and to be away from work for potentally many weeks at the mo could be a disaster for him.
Sorry, waffle waffle waffle.

FiKelly · 23/10/2008 21:07

frazzle would've been ok if I was still living in edinburgh but moved back down in 2004 to be closer to my mum & dad. I'm also hopless when it comes to needle things. DH has to come to any appointments that they're due to take blood as I have a tendency to pass out. It's a blood pressure drop thing for me... I don't get nervous It just happens poof!

Momino · 23/10/2008 21:13

rubysmum, good luck on the scan tomorrow and try to relax. xx
