oh I am tired, when I said we I meant me and DH not me and my mum.

Note to self: reread posts before posting!!

frazzledoldbag34 · 22/10/2008 21:29

My step-mother has also been known to boom at me:
'your father NEEDS a grandson!'
er, yes, right

umamimama · 22/10/2008 22:39

Congratulations to everyone who has had a scan. I have my scan booked for the 4 Nov.

Doris - you poor thing, sounds like a nightmare. I'm glad to hear the medication is helping.

I really don't mind if this baby is a girl or boy. It's funny because I always thought I'd love to have a boy. Names will be easy, after much debate with DP last time we are only left with one girls name and one boys name.

SesHasapinkline · 22/10/2008 23:10

runningmonkey - I'm not a teacher and I don't have any DC (yet!) but it is my god daughter's birthday and want to go up to York to see her so I picked the week not realising it was half term!

LOL at all the wierd families! They really are strange! My Mum said she's meant to be going away for a wkend in May and now she won't be able to go as she'll be coming to stay with me for a fortnight! I told her go anyway and that there's no need for her to come and stay as she only lives a 10 min drive away! She looked hurt!

bantam73 · 23/10/2008 09:02

Morning everyone

Hope you are all feeling good this morning.

I've just got a phone call from my local hospital and there's a cancellation for a scan tomorrow afternoon, am I availible?

What do you think I said?

Yes Yes Yes.

justgotbfp · 23/10/2008 09:11

wow another thread already. Haven't caught up with all the posts but wanted to say to
Doris: Thank you for all your support, sorry to see you are feeling bad now too. I have had the ondansetron increased and am on the maxalon as well. At the moment I can get to about 2 oclock just feeling a bit seedy and then will usually start vomiting but only 2 or three times in the afternoons. Nights are worse and I think the tiredness is contributing to the nausea. I am finding getting out easiest to manage ds, places where I can sit and he can burn off steam so maybe this would suit you too.

I have a midwife appointment on Tuesday and am panicing a little as we decided not to have any scans at 12 weeks so am hoping desperately that the heartbeat will be detected.
thoughts with all.

Momino · 23/10/2008 09:25

morning all.
bantam, that's great news! our scan is today at 2pm. girls are at nursery and we've refrained from telling them until after the scan. just didn't want toddler spilling beans to inlaws. we'll tell family this weekend maybe.

after reading posts about how people don't mind which sex baby is, i feel awful admitting i want a boy. of course, we'd love another girl - 3 girls would be sweet (and cheaper, i suppose!). and mainly hoping baby is healthy.

anyway, hope everyone is feeling well today.

bantam73 · 23/10/2008 09:37

Hi

We told our near 3yr the other day cos we heard the hb with the mw on monday and she said we could have a 4wk wait for our scan, I wanted to tell her sooner rather than later in case she listened in on some thing she shouldn't!!!!!!!

Momino · 23/10/2008 09:53

oh dear. DH is working from home today as well and just brought me two (two!) yumyums on a plate - one for me and one for baby! i didn't protest ... i don't eat like this every day. do i [said in a sheepish voice]?

CoteDAzur · 23/10/2008 09:53

I would quite like another girl but DH wants a boy so he can take him to football matches and wear matching swimming shorts

frazzledoldbag34 · 23/10/2008 11:38

Momino - are you going to find out the sex? I'm undecided this time, but swinging towards finding out. I knew last time (but told no one at all, not even DH) but didn't the first time. Just not sure whether to or not, but in theory could know by next week as having CVS on Thurs morning so may get genetic results back by Friday night. WEIRD.
By the way AM GETTING VERY SCARED OF THE CVS NOW and DH has been called up for jury duty and might not be able to come with me. OH GOD.

Good luck with your scan Momino - enjoy!
JustgotBFP - sorry to hear you're suffering so much. Take care x

GreenFingeredMummy · 23/10/2008 13:27

Hi all, thought I'd lost you all for a moment. Had my first midwife appt last wed, went ok I guess, shes really not a great people person so always a bit awkward. Did manage to annoy her tho' by changing hospitals, but hey its my baby right? Apparently couldn't guarantee an epidural at the RVI so gonna stick with my lovely midwife unit in Hexham. Guess its the gas n air again... ouch!

Got my scan appt for the 7th Nov,Iam really looking forward to actually seeing something in there, still feeling really rough, but apart from that little change elsewhere so be nice to know my body isnt just playing tricks on me.

Dont think Ive given much thought to sex yet, only that I cant think of any boys names I like. Be nice to have two girls tho'

SweetBROODY · 23/10/2008 13:35

I would really like a little boy! how is everyone today... I am just constantly exhausted but like someone else mentioned i'm fine when I am with my hubby.. do you think there is truth in this or its psychological?

Theres so many things about pregnancy that you learn taht you never knew before!

SweetBROODY · 23/10/2008 13:37

My scan is 7th as well - it cant come quick enough!

hi all.

Well, i can buy those top shop maternity jeans this weekend as we've just seen our healthy bouncing baby on the scan! It really made things more real and exciting and I now can't wait to tell the girls when they get home from nursery today.

importantly, i can stay on this thread (not that you would have ousted me otherwise) as the scan dated EDD to be 1 May 2009, exactly as i thought.

didn't ask the sex but i'm sure it looks like a girl. well, odds anyway it will be so maybe that's why i think it looks like one!

Jonesy68 · 23/10/2008 15:42

Hi All

Good to see scans and stuff getting booked and happening for more of you. I am now 10 wks and had my midwife appt today which was OK. Have to call the hosp in a week to book Nuchal scan.

On subject of boy vs girl, I would if I'm honest like another boy as I like the idea of 2 boys and I know what I'm doing with a boy - kind of my comfort zone if you know what I mean. I'd still be happy if we have a girl though, it's just a bit of an unknown quantity to me and I'm not much of a girly girl so all the pink princess stuff will take me right out of my comfort zone! I think DP would like a girl but he won't say either way.

bantam73 · 23/10/2008 15:44

Afternoon everyone

MOMINO - Good news about your scan.

Have a good evening every one, I'm off to work now!!!! Roll on 11 at finish time

Momino · 23/10/2008 15:47

No clue names for this next baby and will prob start to think of ideas.

We chose Saskia for dd2 simply because we liked it but have no clue what the origin, and neither does google as it's brought up Germanic (a lot of germans I know hadn't heard the name when I ask), Dutch (which i think is correct) or at its most general, Scandinavian. We're not Dutch but we chose it anyway.

I'm american and thought it would be a good idea to use a native american name but 'Dakota' got a lot of funny looks from my british peers when we had it on the shortlist for DD1 so we dropped it.

names are really a difficult, personal and sensitive subject aren't they?

Momino Congratualtions - I am so glad the scan went well for you.. That is FAB! I'm quite suprised at the varied dates for scans for similar dates... I guess it shows how NHS IS differant in diff areas!

There are 2 Layla's in Yr 1 at DS's school btw. Both appear of non-muslim origin... I think people often pick names because they like the sound of them and don't look into where they come from. I didn't when my ex-DH and I chose our DS's name (Ethan) - it was the only one we could agree on!!! I think that's how DP and I will choose this time too - the old faithful method - you write a list, I write a list, we swap and cross off all those we don't like... then fight over the last couple that are left til one gives in.

I do think it's very personal and I don't like to tell anyone (other that DP) as it only invites their views which can be based on all kinds of things and can be upsetting. Especially if you've your heart set on a name and the person you're telling goes "oh YUK, I hate that name, it reminds me of a fat smelly girl I went to school with!" or something like that. Best to keep it to yourself I think.....
