Morning Ladies

Does anyone know where I can find some maternity jeans that aren't enormous? I can no longer fit into any "normal" ones that I have and I've won some petite 14 over the bump ones from mothercare but they are huge (if my bum gets that wide I am sure that DH will divorce me) lol. I am new to all this - first baby. Would under the bump be better? I only have a 28" leg tho and I am trying not to spend too much money hence buying second hand, but feel I may have no choice as I don't want to look like a clown.

LoobyLou36 · 04/11/2008 07:51

just looked at the fun mum website and they have some under the bump petite jeans in their sale - does anyone have any experience of these?

FiKelly · 04/11/2008 08:17

loobylou i'm venturing into the unknown with maternity jeans too.. when i had ds it was the scorching summer of 2006 and i was in linen and floaty stuff. I've just splurged on some new seraphine ones.. thought i can always sell them on ebay after! Unfortunately my regular length size 14 was out of stock but should arrive any day. Under bump jeans seemed to be most peoples favourites here when i asked for advice...

justgotbfp · 04/11/2008 08:39

hello all. my neighbour has just had her ds and I got a cuddle and it all dawned on me the reality of this baby. just a little scared not.

LoobyLou36 · 04/11/2008 09:04

Thanks FiKelly might get the ones from FunMum then their quite reasonable at £15 trouble is there are a few other things on the website that I quite like.. nice cardigan, and a couple of tops - uh oh credit card might get a hammering. lol.

Are you buying a maternity jacket or coat or making do with what you've got? Sorry for being nosy. My problem is that before I got pg I lost 2 stone and sold most of my fatter clothes on ebay so am a bit limited.

SweetBROODY · 04/11/2008 10:16

Morning ladies.. its good to know i'm not the only one whose not hungry all the time.. the constipation is horrible though - I cant even sit on my bum today.. :S still anxious about the scan on Friday - and so so so tired.. so taking that as a sign that things must be ok!

SweetBROODY · 04/11/2008 10:18

That fetal website is amazing! its exactly the kind of thing I was asking about earlier - I was tired of seeing animated pictures! thank you so much - its FAB!

Momino · 04/11/2008 10:29

hi all. just working today (obviously!?). inlaws here to look after dd's and I'm happy for the break. dd1 is all terrible 2 tantrums and has been up whinging since 5.30. don't know how to cure that one. kept putting her back in bed. she kept yelling and getting up, eventually waking up dd2. am glad they're out now.

just a note from below - i think the name'hot milk' is all wrong as well .

SweetBROODY · 04/11/2008 10:35

Hehe I think its cheeky!

SweetBROODY · 04/11/2008 10:51

Im struggling to concentrate at work! lol is it any suprise that its going to be a rubbish appraisal for this year!

FiKelly · 04/11/2008 10:51

loobylou I recently picked up a bargain of a calvin klein pure wool poncho in tkmaxx, but most of the time when i'm out walking DS in his pram etc i'm either wearing my DH old rain gear with warm cardi(just top few buttons done up!) underneath or the fake sheepskin coat i bought a few years ago when i was 2months pregnant with DS in the jan sales (luckily the boobs had expanded when i bought it).

I don't think my coat will do up over my belly for the whole of this winter... so i'm on the look out for a long wrap cardi on ebay in my size.

Momino · 04/11/2008 11:33

Sweetbrody, i'm having trouble concentrating as well. I have so much to do in limited time and not getting anything done!

SweetBROODY · 04/11/2008 11:42

me too.. I wish I was home already sorting things out for baby! I dont know how pregnant women make it through such a long long time at work from when thye find out.. mind you we're all nearing 3months thats quite far in really! you dont realise when you count in weeks...

MsG · 04/11/2008 12:24

Jonesy, hope things are ok with you. Let us know when you can.

Quite a far of us with scans on Friday. Mine's at 10.45 - surely I'm not meant to not go to the toilet all morning? I will have to go first thing. I hope they don't keep me waiting too long, my bladder will be really unhappy.

I'm really, really nervous about it too, sweetBROODY. I dreamed the night before last that I was miscarrying, and I just keep waking up really early (5.50 today) and then am unable to get back to sleep. Argh.x

Jools1 · 04/11/2008 12:29

I have to confess to taking a look at my Outlook calendar sometimes and working out how many weeks I've got left to work

I will only be working a maximum of 4 months of next year - how cool does that sound Added to that I've got nearly 3 weeks off between now and Christmas - makes work seem bearable

Scan in one week, 3 hours and 22 minutes !!!!

Moonlit · 04/11/2008 12:35

MsG - I remember, with my DD's first nuchal scan, I had to run out of the room after the scan was complete, because I was bursting for the toilet. They press really hard!

I have to wee four times every hour at the moment, so God only knows how I am going to hold it in on Friday (mines at 12.20pm)

pulapula · 04/11/2008 12:39

I wouldn't worry too much about the full bladder thing- I'm sure it doesn't have to be full to bursting, it just helps with the clarity of the image maybe? I am also suffering from stress incontinence at the moment so don't plan to be so full that I pee if they press to hard or if I sneeze/cough/laugh etc!

frazzledoldbag34 · 04/11/2008 12:42

Hello - haven't been on here for ages so just had to read for about 1/2 hour to catch up!
Re-scans and wee-ing - in my experience you can empty your bladder about 1 hour before your scan then drink water steadily to re-fill it on the way to the hosp and while you are waiting (they are almost never running on time anyway) - a couple of pints of water should do it. You don't want it over-full as it may obscure the view and they might ask you to partially empty it anyway (plus it hurts like hell if you're too full especially when they press on it with the scanner).
Good luck to all you scan ladies - enjoy! Look forward to hearing about your little dancing beans.

Am eating like a piggy at the moment - not to ward of nausea any more (feel fine) - am just constantly starving. Anyone else feel like this? Hope it goes away soon or I'll be massive by Christmas.

frazzledoldbag34 · 04/11/2008 12:45

ACtually am massive now. Wearing my new Isabella Oliver stuff - very nice and stretchy. Not sure it's actually worth the extortionate cost but my plan is to take good care of it then ebay it once I'm done! Should get a decent bit of cash back.......IO seems to sell for quite a lot on ebay.
Want one of those Seraphine grey wool ponchos with sleeves to wear instead of a coat - tried to order one this morn but they are out of stock Quite good value for £40 I reckon. Anyone have one....is it as nice as it looks online?

SweetBROODY · 04/11/2008 13:00

I feel huge as well.. been wearing tracksuits bottoms to work and feel so frumpy - really go from hot and cold as well..

its all so exhasting. MsG its gonna be ok... try not to worry to much - I know what you mean though All the Friday scanners lets log in and say how it went on Friday!

I was so tempted to just pay for one yesterday! I dont know how people wait months and months where they dont do a 12 month one.

SweetBROODY · 04/11/2008 13:03

I wish I could live in my PJ's! even at work!

lol that would be great..

MrsEvs · 04/11/2008 13:08

Agree with you frazzled - for both my scans with DD1 I was bursting, and they told me to go and partially empty because it was too much. I've had various ultrasounds since (more babies, gall stones and suspected polyps) all of which require a full bladder, and have done exactly what frazzled said above. I brought a bottle of water and only started drinking it in the car on the way to the scan, or once not even until I got into the waiting room. That way it's full just before you go in, but not to uncomfy.

SweetBROODY · 04/11/2008 13:13

lol - I remember last time I almost did pee myself.. and whenever I'v drunk in the waiting room they've said i'm not full enough! :S I think I just wont drink to excess its 9.00am so should be ok - i'm up really early to pee in the morning so will have enough to build it up slowly..
