getting bit nervous about nuchal scan tomorrow. keeping fingers crossed..

just wondering.. those that have big boobs and done this before.. how did you manage breast feeding? as a first timer last time i found having huge boobs tricky to manouver and see latching properly?! any tips?

agooboo · 02/11/2008 10:10

FiKelly - Good luck for tomorrow. I don't have big boobs so can't help you with that one!

Back to work tomorrow Hopefully I will get another couple of weeks out of my work trousers. I managed to get my skinny jeans on yesterday - when I had my 2DCs my stomach bloated almost as instantly as I missed my period but not with this one. I'm certainly not complaining.

Yesterday my 'had to have' was a packet of cheesy wotsits. What's everyone else having to have?

Moonlit · 02/11/2008 11:06

Hey Ladies!

I hope your are all well? I haven't been on for ages. So it has taken ages to read through all the posts. I have been suffering from food poisoning (as well as my DH and DD) after eating at a Zoo restaurant. I have never been so violently sick and ill in my life! It was truly horrendous. Anyway, I am feeling a lot better.

FiKelly - My SIL has humongous breasts and has breast all three of her children for 1 year without problems. Her advice is that, after each feed pump the excess milk and use it for when you need a break (i.e. let your partner bottle feed) Or freeze it. That way your breasts won't feel so heavy and uncomfortable at each feed. My nuchal is on Friday and I/we are so excited and scared too. But don't worry everything will be ok.

agooboo - Mine changes from day to day. I can't stand meat, so my DH doesn't say no to any of my requests! I am eating Kettles balsamic vinegar crisps, well actually anything salt and vinegary will do

I am wearing my maternity clothes already. So comfortable!!!!!! Mine are from; Crave Maternity, Mamas and Papas, New Look, Mother Care, Motherhood Maternity (an American company), Pumpkin Patch and H&M. Bit of a shopaholic well some are from my last pregnancy and the others I purchased in the sales when I decided to get pregnant (although I never thought it would take this long). For those of you after summery items, they are still available on the websites for the shops I mentioned above.

Ok that's enough for now. Sorry about the long post .

FiKelly · 02/11/2008 12:37

agooboo yesterday my must haves were cheese sauce made with extra mature cheddar and mashed potato... so I made a fish pie with salmon & broccoli and lovely mashed potato crisped up on top.

Todays must have is bacon sandwiches... DH has gone off to supermarket to get some so we can have them for lunch

moonlit most of my maternity clothes are from mothercare too... as there is a very limited range of shops where i live... unless i want to travel down the motorway for 50mins!

pulapula · 02/11/2008 13:57

Hello all. Am amazed at the sizes of some of your boobies. Before children (BC) I was a pert 34B. Now I am a 36A and I BF them so I'm sure for some, it makes them smaller after . I was really happy during last pg when got up to a 36DD. No sign of much growth yet.

Went out with some friends for a meal last night, and didn't leave the restaurant til midnight so feeling a bit rough/tired today. My excuse for not drinking was that I was still getting over my cold and not in the mood. My friend said "good job you explained your reason for not drinking, so that we don't think its because you're pregnant!" I laughed of course, and maybe she has sussed me out but only a week til the scan when we might go public (although might wait til 12 or 13 weeks or after nuchal).

I have been dreading telling my sister- she is having IVF and her current/last attempt had to be stopped as she had some unexplained bleeding, so her eggs have been frozen ready to use in December when they think it will be safe to proceed. She had some good news that her NHS appointment for IVF is also Dec, and she might get 3 free attempts (her private treatment costs £5k a go!). So at least she is feeling more positive so I won't feel so guilty.

pulapula · 02/11/2008 14:00

Oh and the food of choice today is jelly (when my DD/DS didn't finish theirs i couldn't wait to scoff it).

Also going to munch some toblerone soon (when I can be bothered getting off the sofa to go and get it). DS is having a lovely sleep and DD is watching TV so at least I'm having a much-needed rest.

Jools1 · 02/11/2008 14:04

I'm having sweet cravings this weekend

Have just negated 2 hours of gym classes by eating a Waitrose chocolate sundae, followed by a fair few spoonfuls of Ben and Jerry's ice cream !!

I am now munching on a packet of cheese thins and will probably finish them !

Normal service with healthy food will resume tomorrow !

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 02/11/2008 14:21

moonlit - I've just had to go and buy myself some salt and vinegar crisps!

Jools - am impressed with I will look into some ante natal pilates in a couple of weeks.

pulapula - I had a difficult situation with my brother and SIL. They have had problems ttc and I think they have accepted it won't happen for them now, which is really sad. When I was pg in March, I told them at about 5 weeks and my brother just responded saying "Oh well it's too early to know that you'll keep it". Sure enough at the 12 week scan, we found the mmc. He's just invited me and DH to stay for the weekend at the end of November and seeing as I've had a successful 12 week scan, I did tell him this week. He just said "Oh, ok" and changed the subject. It must be very hard for them.

On the subject of maternity clothes, I was about to start investing but my belly seems to have shrunk the last couple of days. Can this happen that your belly shrinks and grows, whrinks and grows?

Jools1 · 02/11/2008 14:31

I think my belly did shrink from around 7 weeks - it seems as if the weight gain up to then was just bloating.

Now, people keep asking me if I've lost weight because my face is quite noticeably thinner - but I still can't get into my normal jeans !! I did buy a bigger size to tide me through till I could decently buy maternity wear, but they are too big everywhere but round the abdomen now and look a bit odd.

I'm sure losing all those calories I used to consume in wine has made a big difference ! Also, they say your metabolism runs faster - my hair is growing like mad - so maybe we are just burning off lots through building baby

OP posts:
SesHashadafab12weekscan · 02/11/2008 14:39

Think you could be right Jools. Hope you are anyway! Now I'm not feeling so sick, I'm going to allow myself to indulge in my food again! Must try and make it healthy calories though.

MsG · 02/11/2008 14:46

agooboo, my must-haves yesterday were Indian snacks (veg pakoras, samosas and bhajis), pickled onions, beetroot and salad with spinach in it and mustard!!

Today I've had toast with cheese and a scone. I'm thinking of having some more of the pakoras etc later though! I can't stop thinking about food. x

SpangleMaker · 02/11/2008 15:06

Jools might be an idea to get a couple of maternity 'bottoms' as they're designed for this. The stretchy under-the-bump-band jeans I've got are currently on-the-bump (as it's still so low down) and though they feel really comfy standing up I worry they are squashing bean when I sit down... or perhaps I need a bigger size ? The stretchy side panel trousers are good though, as are the roll-top skirts. When is your scan? It must be soon now. Then you can feel ok about investing in some mat wear.

Detsy I know what you mean about the wrap tops, they seem to be a bit of a faff. I'm wearing my black one today. Might be interested in your brown one if I decide I can get on ok with this one.

I am already suffering from parental guilt. My friend at work who is pg will only eat healthy, home cooked food and worries she hasn't eaten enough seeds etc. My baby has been fed a right load of rubbish in comparison, including last week its first McDonalds on the way to Devon . Am hoping lots of fruit will make up for the naughtiness.

SpangleMaker · 02/11/2008 15:07

Oh and my must-have today is double gloucester cheese with chives, yum

Jools1 · 02/11/2008 15:19

Spanglemaker - My scan is Nov 11th, so not too long now I've got Nov 12th off for shopping

OP posts:
MrsEvs · 02/11/2008 15:27

Wow, just been giggling at the big busty amazonians on this thread! I too am 5'11'' and 34J !! Have shopped mail order with Bravissimo long before the shops even existed - most recent purchase was the PJs with built in bras - sooooo comfy at night for the sore boobs

So looks like I'll be taking orders for US Gap and Old Navy jeans that ALL come in Long - check the websites, they may just post internationally. If not and you really, really want some I will seriously post them out if need be - just CAT me and let me know!

Excellent news about all the nuchal results/scans etc - what a relief! So sorry about the car break in that's horrid and jsut a hassle you really don't need at this point.

Spanglemaker don't let the guilts get to you - with DD2 I was so nauseous, and the only thing I could face passing my lips were Sour Patch kids (like Haribo tangfastics!). In a week I only ate those, one ear of corn, and a single bowl of cereal . DD2 survived fine though!

Oh and on the PJs front - I've never had maternity PJs - just stretchy waist ones - so don't think their a necessity (though may be more comfy?)

Must go, hubby is on a rant today about what a mess the house is and I am just sitting here in my PJs!

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 02/11/2008 15:30

Mrs Evs - might look on Bravissimo fpr stretchy waist PJs with inbuilt bra! Have gone up to a 34E and seem to be filling those now...

MrsEvs · 02/11/2008 15:34

Do, both the PJ bottms have stretchy waists - just maybe get a size larger than normal. I'm delighted with mine. Not cheap but I've had my moneys worth already I think

FiKelly · 02/11/2008 15:38

I'm wearing a pair of borrowed maternity jeans today.. have discovered bump not quite big enough to keep them up. very comfy but every time i sit or bend (well try to as back still sore) i end up with builders bum lol!

my seraphine under bump jeans should arrive this week. i can't wait just hope i've ordered the right size..

Momino · 02/11/2008 16:06

fikelly, i get builders bum all the time and hate it! must be because we all lose our waists in pregnancy so there's no way to hold up trousers. i find wearing a belt tough - ok when standing but when I sit down it cuts into my lower belly.

went to Gap outlet today and the maternity selection was awful, so ugly. got nothing.

am doing nothing today but searching on ebay for christmas toys. I'm supposed to be getting some work done since dh is home to babysit but ebay is too addictive. i think i need help to wean myself off it so I can do my job. then theres mumsnet...

Momino · 02/11/2008 16:12

just a rant.
went to a dinner party fri and there were two other pregnant friends, one due in Jan other due in March. The hub of the dueMarch friend said to me he thought I was due before his wife by the size of my bump.... do men have no tact ? or should i just not be so touchy?

i'm a little bigger in bump than my friend who's 7 weeks ahead of me (it's her 2nd) but smaller in stature so maybe she carries it differently. but i don't want to hear (esp from a man) how big I am... my dh tried his best to help my friend's husb take his foot gently out of his mouth but don't think he got it.

i do feel bigger at this stage than preg 1 and 2 but then this is my third.

runningmonkey · 02/11/2008 16:23

Hi All,
just tried to catch up but not succeeding.

I had a disasterous shopping experience on sat too - went to lakeside as our shops in Cambridge are really small so I thought the selection might be better. The selection of maternity wear in the high street shops is useless (especially Debenhams)and I came away feeling rubbish . I had a big paddy in Next as they only do mat jeans in standard and long. I live in Next petite jeans usually. Same story in H&M, Debenhams so obviously shorties like me aren't supposed to have babies! The lady in the changing rooms at next was lovely tho and told me to go to blooming marvellous!

Well I should tell you about my night out... The excuses didn't work and so I 'came out' to my uni friends. Turns out one of them is also pregnant and due two days after me. A shame we don't live a bit closer to each other as it would be great support to be around for each other. Am glad its out in the open now, just got some more family to tell once the scan is done.

Anyway, must go work to do before back to school tomorrow - half term just hasn't been long enough

Momino · 02/11/2008 16:49

runningmonkey, prob better you told your friends - bit of a relief that you don't have to lie or hide the truth. i still haven't told work but then I'm not normally in the office so it's easier to hide.

Febes · 02/11/2008 18:43

Evening ladies!! MY bump has really growing this week. I look well PG tonight. Its really nice but I think normal clothes are out the window now. Have been in trackies for the whole weekend and it's been lovely and comfy. I bid on some Mat clothes on ebay yesterday so hopefully they will be good only 6 items or so but should suppliment what I've got from last time and a few new things I bought from Dotty Ps.

divedaisy · 02/11/2008 18:43

Hi gals!!
I feel hungry and full up at the same time. Don't know what I want to eat... thought about humous and celery/carrots but don't really do it for me...
Fi good luck for tomorrow. I've mine on Tuesday andreally scared about it. My bump doesn't feel as hard as I thought i felt it in earlier weeks. trying not to be too paranoind and to look forward to seeing Pea again.

Anyhow, away to get a wrinkly ds out of the bath!!

Jools1 · 02/11/2008 18:55

Runningmonkey - I need short lengths aswell - have somehow ended up with a Next catalogue I never ordered and have had a quick look in there - some, not all of their mat jeans in the catalogue do definitely come in short lengths - 27 inches. The regular appears to be 29 inches, which is what I think I normally have to settle for anyway.

I'm going shopping on Nov 12th and will be visiting a local Next that does maternity wear - will report back
