detsy · 31/10/2008 21:18

Spent a fortune - I have to stop. Off for a bath now as can't shop in there!!!

LoobyLou36 · 31/10/2008 21:21

I am a bit nervous at the moment - I get my nuchal results tommorrow. The scan was good - only measured 1mm which is low apparently. Just hope my bloods were okay too.

detsy · 31/10/2008 21:25

Yes sweet broody - wash your hair, pregnancy is a time to look after yourself really well and not be listening to traditional tales.

Someone mentioned dying hair as well - I continue to dye mine and did in last pgncy with no probs - as someone said the worry is the colour reaction, nothing else. If you're really worried - go for organic colour tho in my exp it doesn't last half as long. I've got an appt next Thursday for the works and can't wait!!!

detsy · 31/10/2008 21:26

Looby - 1mm is brill, try not to worry i'm sure with a tiny measurement like that your bloods will be fine

LoobyLou36 · 31/10/2008 21:30

thanks detsy. I have been taking my mind off it by online shopping for maternity clothes.

LoobyLou36 · 31/10/2008 21:33

want to start swimming again but can't fit into costume any more - must find a new one. Have managed to find myself a nice dress for DH Christmas party.

SpangleMaker · 31/10/2008 22:38

llareggub sorry to hear about your car. It's such a horrible feeling more than anything else, but also a palaver to have to cancel cards and all that.

detsy congrats on the nuchal/blood results, you can get on with enjoying being pg now

I've also been feeling a lot better this week (am 13+5). Energy levels and appetite almost back to normal - still scoffing loads but not needing to eat every 2 hours as before. Might even catch up with some housework tomorrow ! (I said might...)

divedaisy · 31/10/2008 23:08

i give up!!! there were 11 pages for me to catch up on... i think i read the first 5 or 6, but it was taking me too long.
i couldn't believe you're already talking about birth expereinces and what you're planning this time! i had gas and air, pethidene (which I don't ever want again as it fuzzed up my memories too much) then got my epidural. i was enduced at 37 weeks due to SPD and pre-eclampsia. ds was born vaginally but needed vacuum extraction at the end. i had strep b and passed it to him. he ended up in SCBU for a week - they thought he had meningitis so a lumbar puncture was done, following which they thought he had a subarachnoid haematoma (bleed on the brain) - turned out to be contamination from the lumbar puncture as blood got into the sample. anyhow after 6 days i got him - and nearly ran out of the hospital with him!! Oh and he had bad jaundice too.
My symptoms too have eased quite a bit. I keep on having to poke my boobs to see if they're still sore!!! no constipation (never a prob anyway - I drink plenty of pure fruit juice esp pink grapefruit!!!) Nausea has eased plenty, but can't eat a great amount - I get full up very easily. I too don't fancy meat that much - i've even lessened my love of eggs! But i have discovered a hankering after salt and vinegar crisps!!!

This morning my ds asked me and dh when will we have a baby? we told him 'someday hopefully'. Tonight at bedtime he asked me if I had a baby in my tummy. I told him i didn't know yet, but when I know I'll tell him he's going to be a big brother. So he asked me about the egg - I think he thinks babies are born in an egg like a chicken!! It was all so cute, however, is he psychic??!! It was all very weird! Hopefully I can tell him next week after my nucal scan. I think 12 weeks is a good enough time.

sorry for long post.

Oh and whoever mentioned cheese toasties!!! I just HAD to go and make myself one!

divedaisy · 31/10/2008 23:59

are you all away out trick and treating!? or have you all turned into pumpkins??! Where are you all for a chat!! OK, so I don't log in every day... no need to ignore me when I do...
I'm watching 'Speed'.. again!!
See y'al soon. nitey nite. xx

Hi DandyLioness - I;m trying to find some cosy warm pyjamas! Can't help on the summer stuff...

FiKelly · 01/11/2008 08:50

Was wiped out last night due to my dads 75th birthday celebrations... in bed by 10pm which is very unusual for me! Just caught up...

llareggub that's awful about your car

looby measurement is great

dandy melba have a bargain basement section... there are a few short sleeved/strapless style tops/dresses and cropped trousers/shorter skirts still left in assorted sizes.

divedaisy i'm looking for not too expensive pj's too. I like the seraphine ones but not sure if they'll be cosy at all and gulping at the price a bit

LoobyLou36 · 01/11/2008 09:41

Morning Ladies. Just looked at the seraphine pj's FiKelly nice but the price Ouch! I need same too - my friend helpfully suggested that I could just get away with a larger size of normal pj's - she has no idea of the shape you get when pg me thinks! Mind you neither did I - first baby. Already everything is ssoo tight and only 13+6! Postman just arrived with some second hand maternity clothes I bought off ebay and their great. I got a really nice H&M long sleeved dress in a plum colour, 2 MODA long sleeved tops and a pair of MODA jeans all in really good condition for £18 including the postage!

Tried to hold out as long as possible to buy anything as I didn't want to tempt fate but could wait no longer.

Hubby has just lit the woodburner and is about to cook me bacon and egg - yummy! It's brass monkeys here. Wish I was away for some winter sun melba my mil and fil are off today to majorca - lovely.

LoobyLou36 · 01/11/2008 09:42

Got to ring up in 2 hours to get my nuchal results - everything crossed!!

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 01/11/2008 09:51

Morning

Looby - good luck for your results. Make sure you remember to post and let us know!

Llareggub - that's awful about your car

I used to struggle to go to bed before 11pm. Now I struggle to stay awake past 9pm! Have had this week off work so I dread to think what I'll be like back at work!

(first timer question alert) Do you really end up having to get maternity PJs? Cheap large jogging bottoms won't do by the end I guess...!

SpangleMaker · 01/11/2008 09:58

Looby fingers crossed for you!

FiKelly those pyjamas are lovely, i really fancy some but, yes, the price I treated myself to some bamboo yoga wear from JoJo and the fabric really is gorgeously soft and comfortable to wear - I could see myself living in that come April! If comfort is the main factor it might be worth splashing out.

Weighed myself this morning - pretty much the same as before getting pregnant... so how come I've got this huuuge belly?? It's not as if I've skinny arms and legs to compensate (I wish!)

FiKelly · 01/11/2008 10:04

dandy in my search for warm inexpensive pj's found more summery stuff top shop sale

daizydoo · 01/11/2008 11:20

Looby - hope you get get results!!

We are having a lazy morning here. Although DH is suffering after eating a kebab last night! I told him it was God letting him know what its like to feel pregnant - funny he didn't seem amused

I might get some cheap maternity pj's off ebay.

daizydoo · 01/11/2008 11:21

oh er - that'll be good results Looby!!

LoobyLou36 · 01/11/2008 14:28

Hi everyone. Great news result was 1 in 3000 so Low!!

Jools1 · 01/11/2008 14:32

Good news Loobylou

I'm having a bit of a blue day today - woke up in a grump and with this inexplicable feeling of utter dread. It was made worse when my partner started showing signs of having issues with his epilepsy ...

I was fine at the gym, but got really freaked out coming home, imagining him out cold on the floor He is fine, and has gone out shopping for my birthday pressie now but I can't shake that feeling - oh, and burst into tears after trying on most of my wardrobe and being unable to find anything that is party wear (for a friend's party tonight), still fits and doesn't make my stomach look huge and flabby.

I'm not going to be much fun sober at a party tonight !

FiKelly · 01/11/2008 15:29

Loobylou yay! mine is on mon and i'll be delighted with your results

jools i think it's a day for some pampering.. maybe a relaxing bath with fragrant bubbles, then fish out the clothes that do feel comfy and stick on a dvd this pm that makes you smile.. i find everything always feels better after a good soak

1stMrsF · 01/11/2008 17:18

Thank you for all my welcome messages. Great news on the scan/blood test results in the last few days. So sorry to hear about the car break in - that is always such a horrid thing to happen to you. I would also forget everything without my BBerry.

Went out last night for FIL's 80th birthday. Very smart restaurant we've been to before. Food is usually lovely, but being pg not so much fun! Not nearly enough carbs in the table d'hote menu (very little choice of food too, not good) and I took a chance and ordered cheese as I didn't like the dessert, thinking that there would be one hard cheese and that would be enough. ALL cheeses were soft, mold ripened or blue!!! The one nice bit of the meal was the starter - game terrine. I got them to check with the chef no liver and then really enjoyed it as it was so close to pate, which I've really missed! Everyone else (who of course was drinking) enjoyed staying at the table until 10.30pm! Got home at midnight - very very tired today.

I am envying those who are buying maternity clothes - as this is my first I'm still fitting into most of my clothes - just a few work things that are a bit tight. Advantage is that when I go on holiday next week, should be able to wear usual summer clothes but I'm really looking forward to buying for my bump!

Thanks Dandylioness and FiKelly

For some reason, I felt better after I'd had an absolutely massive blubbing session which was precipitated by me doing some research into Downs Syndrome to try and decide once and for all whether to have the tests. I think I may have decided not to as I really can't imagine termination, whatever the risk comes out as - my risk at 39 (well next Sunday) will be high anyway, and we can't predict or test for whether this baby will have epilepsy, so I think we may just go with whatever will happen and avoid the worry of living with a high risk for 6 months / contemplating amnio.

The tears seem to have washed away the black mood - coupled with the profiterole dessert from Waitrose that I've just scoffed

Still not keen on going out tonight as it is so incredibly cold and wet outside, but am sure it will be OK once we get there Getting stretching pains this evening, which are strangely making me feel good as it must be proof something is growing in there
