And is anyone else craving the following, which make a regular appearance at my dinner table:

Heinz tomato soup
Cheese toasties

Is it just me (think they are just nice comfort foods especially in this colder weather)

pulapula I was mad on tomato soup last time... couldn't get enough of it. In fact everything tomato! A true weird craving as I really hate/loathe tomato soup normally. After having DS I went back to loathing it again

MissyK · 29/10/2008 12:11

Momino You have no idea how jealous I am, I want Pizza now.. I may have to order one tonight!!

We're due on the same day aren't we? I'll race you but going by DS I'll be late, so late..
I'm Seeing the MW next week & the consultant in 2 weeks so will see what he says about things this time round, thinking I'm going to be offered a ECS but really don't like the thought, it's the hospital stay after & the recovery. But with DS I has in for 8 days anyway & he was in SCBU for a week so it might actually be quicker than potentially going through that again!

pulapula I am eating a lot of toasties & also a lot of roast dinners, I mean a lot, I could have a roast every night, it's the roasties, veg & gravy I have to have, I could do without the meat.. but cook it anyway for dh & ds

Just had my soup and toastie mmmm

With my first pg I was really into pizza and cake, hence the 4 stone weight gain. Trying to avoid going down that route although creamy tomato soup and a load of cheese is fattening too I guess!

Missyk- I have never made a roast dinner (DH likes to cook it if we have one), although if someone made one for me, I would of course oblige

Jools1 · 29/10/2008 12:38

I've been eating a lot of soup too - doesn't feel like a craving as such - just a need for something healthy, warm and filling My current fave is Mulligatawny

My sandwiches lasted till 11.45, but I'm still hungry - may brave the ice and snow to see what chocolate healthy snacks I can find

Pulapula - hehe, I never made roast dinners till I HAD to have one about 5 weeks ago, at 10am .. I had to call my dad to make sure how to do everything.
I am not a domestic goddess by any means!
Since living with DH though I am a lot better - mainly as he has OCD (only mild but the house is very organised) & I feel guilty if he comes home from a full days work & 'has' to tidy up..
I am not too sure what he'll be like with a newborn & a 4yr old making mess though, lol..

flippineck · 29/10/2008 13:11

What is is about toasties? Cheese and tomato and/or onion are my favourite food at the moment. The same thing happened when I was pregnant with DD - one day I went to the cafe near work to get my fix, and they couldn't make me a toastie because their toaster was broken. I cried .

Actually I could eat any kind of white carbs, and nothing else. So far today I've had toast and marmite, a couple of crumpets with butter, and a toasted teacake with butter. Perhaps that explains the constipation?! Incredibly though I've only gained about 1.5lb in 12 weeks on that diet, sorry.

I am feeling so much more relaxed after the scan, and I seem to have stopped feeling sick. Perhaps it was the nerves doing it, not ms?

FiKelly · 29/10/2008 13:17

I've just been really naughty for lunch I fancied fried egg and chips (have for a few days now). I made sorta healthy chips by par boiling the potatoes and then roasting them in the oven for 25 mins or so... the naughty bit was I wanted runny yolks to dunk my chips in. I have resisted the urge for a few days but today I could resist no longer! I now feel terribly guilty and hope the eggs are going to be ok but I did really enjoy them

pulapula · 29/10/2008 13:24

FiKelly- naughty you (runny yolks!) mmmmm. I'm sure the salmonella risk from eggs is very low nowadays so sure you'll be fine.

I must say though a friend did have a mc whilst in hospital with food poisoning (e coli) from dodgy chicken. I've really gone off chicken and beef at the moment- eating lots of fish tho.

zuka · 29/10/2008 13:24

ladies, does anybody have any magic recipies for handling headaches? (other than gulping down tons of paracetamol - trying to avoid that)
have had this really weird headache for the last 3 days (!) - it's not too horrible most of the time, but really annoying (and it does get horrible sometimes (
other than that, scan tomorrow, scan tomorrow, scan tomorrow (can you tell i'm obsessed?

FiKelly · 29/10/2008 13:26

I've really gone off meat too at the moment... even fish. I'm ok with the meat if it's in a casserole or veg soup. Weird I don't remember doing this last time

FiKelly · 29/10/2008 13:28

Zuka I get bad headaches with dehydration... and have noticed since i've had the central heating on more I'm getting a wooly head sometimes. A bit of soothing lavender essential oil rubbed into your temples might help?

zuka · 29/10/2008 13:34

thanks FiKelly, will try!

zuka - have you tried 4-head? It's a stick and you put it on your forehead and it helps. Safe in pg. Works well for me. (Don't put too much on though or you will get really tingly!)

Had a lovely tin of Baxters soup yesterday - it was fab. I think it was called chilli beef, lentil and buckwheat (or something like that). I wasn't sure I was going to fancy it, then ended up eating the whole tin. YUmmy.

Am eating mounains of chocolate this week - don't know why as I'm not usually keen. Have gone right off ice cream though. Am also a bit iffy about meat - DH has made spaghetti bol for dinnner tonight and I think I'm going to have to be rude and not eat it! Just don't fancy the thought of it. Will have a bagel with scrambled egg or something on it instead. Anything carby, bland and stodgy appeals. Loving those raisin and cinnamon bagels you get at the moment with loads of butter (and perhaps a bit of jam) on - and that is BIZARRE for me because I have never, ever been able to eat raisins before. Now I don't mind them at all and have eaten loads of those bagels in the last few weeks. Even just smelling them in the bag makes me feel better!
Although my M/sickness has pretty much gone I too have to eat something every couple of hours otherwise I get all wobbly and light headed. Hope that stops soon or I'll be the size of a large house.
Ordered four lovely things last night off Isabella Oliver website as it was the last day of the 20% off their Favourites. 2 of my items were in that offer, 2 weren't but when I looked on the back of my catalogue it said I'd get 15% off other stuff if I typed in a different code. So altogether I got nearly £50 off my order!
The code I used for the 15% off is only valid until the end of October but if anyone wants to use it it is:
FTC75. Type it in at the checkout for your discount.
(In case you are interested I have ordered the Garbo trousers (black), the Pippa top, the midi ruched skirt and the Ruched Cowl neck jumper (black). Will report back as to what they are like when they arrive. Have paid for fast delivery so should be here tomorrow.
CVS tomorrow morning. Am trying not to think about it
Hope all is well with you lovely ladies. x
Sorry for the essay!

Febes · 29/10/2008 14:42

Funny all this talk about food.
Last time I had cravings for Heinz Cream of Tomato soup and lived on cheese toasties for the first 5 months.
I normally have cereal for breakfast but when PG I need toast with marmite. I've pretty much gone off meat as well. The idea of a perfect meal for me at the moment is mashed or baked potato with lots of butter and broccolli with cheese sauce.
I craved puddings last time but luckily didn't put on too much weight as couldn't eat big portions. Usually just had a starter and pud if I went out. I'm not normally bothered about puddings.

frazzledoldbag34 · 29/10/2008 14:48

oooh, Febes baked potato with a crispy skin and lots of butter and cheese in it. THAT'S what I'm going to have for dinner - ta!
I made cauliflower cheese (to go with roast beef, roast pots etc last sunday) and it was scrummy.
Anything white and stodgy seems to be good!
We are so weird

frazzledoldbag34 · 29/10/2008 14:49

PS didn't really eat the roast beef - all I was after was roast pots, yorkshire pudding and cauli cheese with gravy! Mmmmm

Jennster · 29/10/2008 14:56

Just updated my due date. MW started off saying 3rd May by dates, but scan says I'm a week less like I thought and I convinced her to make it scan date as I DO NOT want to be induced and really want another home birth. Will be just my look if I start labour on 36+6.

Hope everybody well. I've already had lunch, but talk of toasties has inspired me to make a cheese and onion one.

Oh all this talk of toasties is making me want to go and buy a new sandwich toaster I am so addicted to cheese at the moment, and yoghurt, and milk. Must be a calcium thing. Maybe I'll treat myself if I get some birthday money tomorrow.

I'm feeling quite good today. So far I have finished painting the hall, varnished some bts of skirting board and cleaned the bathroom and bedroom. Not sure where the energy has come from but sure I'll regret it later. The joys of being off in half term eh?!

Right, I have a dilemma that I was wondering if you could help me with. At the weekend, we are supposed to be visiting some old uni friends for the evening. Its a bit of a halloween get together and we're supposed to be staying over there. Now the worry is it will be noticed if I'm not drinking and I hate lying but I don't really want to tell anyone else yet. Two weeks today to the scan and we haven't told my dad or dh's folks yet. I can't use the excuse of driving as its a couple of hours away and I'm not confident driving through central london at the best of times, let alone in the middle of the night.
Any suggestions? DH reckons we should fake illness and not go but as I said I hate lying and the person who's house it is is one of my oldest and best friends. aaaaargh!

Jennster · 29/10/2008 15:32

runningmonkey, you could say you're on antibiotics, have tonicwater and say you're on gin and tonic, or just risk your dh/p getting absolutely plastered drinking yours.

runningmonkey · 29/10/2008 15:57

Thanks Jennster, I suggested to DH he could have all my drinks but he reckons it will get noticed. As you can tell, he's not being too helpful. Might go down the antib's route I think. Easy to do I suppose and its only a little fib!
