Hi all.

Momino couldn't believe it when I read about you going off asparagus in your last pg. That was me too. It was only asparagus, but even now I'm funny about it.
Did you have any cravings last time? I drove dh mad from 34 weeks with ice crunching...

Jools I adore cats, but since my dd was born my two poor moggies don't get a look in. I sometimes feel guilty remembering when they used to be my 'babies' then the lo distracts me with her huge smile and saying ' no cat'!

Hi loobie. Great news about the scan. It makes my nuchal thickness of 2.7mm sound huge, but my bloods must have been good cos I got 1 in 12000 risk factor.
Bantam and Ses - great scans! It's lovely to hear how everyone is getting to see their lo's.

Febes how many children for lunch?!!!

Hiya 1stMrsF

Reggiee · 28/10/2008 19:05

Meant to maon about my hospital visit this morning, which transpired was needed to discuss my thoughts about the birth with a consultant. A bit early if you ask me, but I came away feeling a bit and as the consultant was pushing an elective cs or continuous monitoring if I decide for a VBAC, and highly dismissive of my initial preference of a VBAC without continual monitoring. Will discuss it with the mw when I next see her as my well get a more balanced view from her. Grr.

agooboo · 28/10/2008 19:15

We got a bengal cross tabby kitten at the weeknd - she's 8 weeks and totally gorgeous. my mum came down today and cast her disapproving concerned look. "You shouldn't be handling cats in your condition...blah...blah...blah...toxoplamosis...blah...blah...blah". I've been doing her litter tray with rubber gloves and washing everywhere down all the time like I always do. There shouldn't be a problem with that should there? Loads of people have cats and are pregnant surely?! Why do mums have a habit of making you feel like you always make the bad decisions even though you know it's not?

FiKelly · 28/10/2008 19:16

Hiya 1stMrsF

Congrats about everyone's scans... mine is coming up on monday am and i'm getting a bit nervous now...

It's a wild night in the south west tonight so planning to pop on a dvd and snuggle up on the sofa with DH.

Will keep a look out for the sofa bed... looking at beds for DS and you never know what will pop up.

Jools1 · 28/10/2008 19:17

Ooh I love Bengals - they are sooooo pretty

1stmrsf our son has a welsh middle name too. We named him Iestyn, and will choose a welsh middle name for this one, too.

1stMrsF · 28/10/2008 19:46

I like Iestyn. I am thinking of Carys for a girl.

llareggub · 28/10/2008 20:02

I like Carys, much prefer it to Cerys. A friend of mine has an Alys and an Anwen, which are very pretty, I think. I also have a niece called Nia, although people do get confused and call her Mia.

We had our scan today too, it was such a huge relief to see a wriggling baby . EDD has been adjusted from 12 May to 8, so I'll need to update the list.

1stMrsF - hello, and welcome. I'm Welsh too, and DH is English. DD has a Welsh name, not common in English/England but not difficult to say or spell. We're probably ok for suitable girls names for no 2, but we're really struggling with boys names, although there's a long tradition of using Morgan as a middle name so we could go with that.

Dandylioness, hope you are feeling better soon. I obviously don't know the details but if you are missing your friend so much is it worth you trying to contact her again? Just a thought...Sorry if that's not helpful.

My hormones have been a bit nuts the last few days. Hey ho!

I know when I had a bad cold the other week, I felt more ill with the cold than I felt pregnant. I got quite miserable not being able to take Lemsips etc too! I think just make sure you rest as much as you can - take time off work if you need it and don't feel bad.

Congrats to those who've had scans!

xxx

Jools1 · 28/10/2008 20:22

Maybe it is something in the air Dandylyoness - I can't stop crying today, despite not actually feeling miserable

I was in a similar position with a good friend a few years ago - felt ball was in her court and missed her like crazy but never ever heard from her again and have always regretted not trying to patch things up when I had a chance

Well done on carrying DD round the tube network - sounds like a trial, especially if it was busy

OP posts:
runningmonkey · 28/10/2008 20:31

Hey all,

Dandylioness sorry you are feeling thats how I felt yesterday. Maybe its the change to the colder weather? Can you plan something nice to do for tomorrow to cheer yourself up? I had coffee and wandered around the shops this morning with a friend which made me feel so much better.

Obv don't know the situation with your mate so don't want to seem like I'm telling you what to do but maybe email her and say something v general like hi or say you saw something that reminded you of her and thought you'd say hi then leave it to her to get in touch. I know when I had a fall out with an old friend both of us were too embarrassed to 'make the first move' to get back in touch and I was really glad when she did something similar.

RE the welsh names - I'm originally from Cardiff and we're going down the welsh first name route. Got quite a few options, many of which have been mentioned here!! its the boys names we're struggling with tho.

congrats to those who have had good scans!
xx

Momino · 28/10/2008 21:01

dandy, hope you're feeling better mood soon. I don't think the weather nor the hormones help.

i've been crying at the drop of a hat. At anything. at Visa tv adverts, at animal programmes, in the night garden on cbeebies, etc.

i'm still being counselled for PND but luckily have been feeling much better (maybe the pg hormones working positively on me, if tearful?). Am terrified it's going to happen again so am clocking every feeling.

do be sure to lean on friends, us, health profs, etc when you're feeling down. off-loading does help and we all understand. hope you get in touch with your friend.

Morning all!!

I was up at 5am this morning
Am sure some of you can beat that but if you fancy a laugh, read here

FiKelly · 29/10/2008 08:29

Morning

SesHashadafab12weekscan lol! if only it wasn't so tiring being up at 5am. DS was awake at 6am today and I find that hard enough...

MissyK · 29/10/2008 09:26

Morning, I've not been here for a while, due to having had a few complications though had a scan & Monday & everything appears to have settled down nicely

My ds is still refusing to realise the clocks have changed so I'm another 5am-er..

Only thing is my body feels like it's lunch time & I'm starving!!
Is anyone else feeling really hungry all the time & then getting food & not being able to eat it due to getting full so quickly? Only to feel amazingly hungry again after an hour or so?

Is it only me or does the thought of May seem like ages away but yet 26 weeks seems scarily close?! Maybe it's just my pregnancy brain!!

MissyK · 29/10/2008 09:27

oops, I had a scan on Monday - damn pregnancy brain!

Febes · 29/10/2008 09:34

DD woke at 5.30 and was ignored and mostly quiet/ feel back asleep until 6.30 so I feel like I've had a sleep in!! Shows what early starts I've been having this week.

Momino · 29/10/2008 10:34

Ses, very funny story.
Missy, great news on your scan.

i'm hungry as well but for the usual, rubbish food. right now, I'm eating leftover, cold Domino's pepperoni/jalapeno pepper pizza with garlic sauce. it's so lovely, i might have a 3rd piece .

So strange, because normally i eat a healthy bowl of porridge with fruit and yoghurt... but that would never satisfy me right now.

hope all are well today despite some with lack of sleep. i slept too lightly being woken twice by sleep-walking dd1. so now need a nap [big yawn].

Jools1 · 29/10/2008 10:38

I woke up around 2am to pee, and tossed and turned after that Was wide awake half an hour before the alarm, so had cereal and tea in bed a 6.30 !!

Now at work after a treacherously icy walk in, and am eyeing up my sandwiches - I wouldn't place bets on my lunch lasting past 11am !!

OP posts:
pulapula · 29/10/2008 11:26

Mmm I think it must be lunchtime lol. I'm starving.

After being off work sick with cold yesterday I am now feeling a bit better and working from bed home. One of the perks of having remote access to the work IT system. Bliss.
