Will keep an eye out jools - am taking DD1 to Borders books after school to get her another 'Horrid Henry' book to add to her collection - (her current fave) so might have a wee browse then and see what they have!
OOh I love Borders books, and I also love the tea and stem ginger muffins upstairs in Starbucks. Am only having soup for lunch so can have a muffin later!
(but must own up to a Wispa for snack this morning).
(and a packet of teddy bear crisps)
Curses on whoever reminded me of the joy of Wispa's!
(don't worry, I'm not actually capable of curses, although sometimes it would be handy.............)

Jools1 · 28/10/2008 13:04

I must confess to coming back from a physio appt this morning, sitting down with a cup of tea and scoffing half a pack of chocolate digestives without really realising what I was doing

Got to be super good for the rest of the day now.

OP posts:
frazzledoldbag34 · 28/10/2008 13:06

ooh i love chocolate digestives. Although I love normal digestives too. Especially with a cup of tea. Boo I don't have any

frazzledoldbag34 · 28/10/2008 13:09

By the way, have just seen a 'Due in July 2009' thread! .
Blimey. Time flies.
Just worked out I've nly got 28.5 wks to go!

FiKelly · 28/10/2008 13:10

lol jools what is it with pets wanting to watch?! Our dog douglas (fluffy lhasa apso) watches from the floor. Can just about ignore his paddington stare but the woofing is really off putting! We end up shutting him out of the room or hiding under the duvet...

Has anyone gone off protein? i've been really weird about it for the last few days. I'm ok if the meat is hidden in soup or a casserole with lots of veg... otherwise don't I fancy it at all. Sandwiches for lunch have gone out the window but still ok with lentils/milk & yogurt... gone off eggs/fish and cheese too... weird?!

Jools1 · 28/10/2008 13:12

hehe - I wouldn't count down from that - will go sooooo slowly I think

I'm going for milestones - 12 wk scan, 16 wk MW appt, 20 wk scan etc

OP posts:
frazzledoldbag34 · 28/10/2008 13:20

I'm not counting down to make it go quicker - I'm panicking cos 28.5 wks doesn't sound like very long to me!
I've got so much to get done, houses to build and sell, childcare to sort, decorating, etc, etc, etc before this baby is born that it can take as long as it likes. Hopefully it might be a bit late...... 3 months or so would be fine

LoobyLou36 · 28/10/2008 13:32

Yippee - finally found new thread. Had my nuchal scan last night and was told nuchal fold is 1mm - good news. Bad news-have to wait till Saturday for blood results. Was great to see the baby again though - very energetic! More energy than I have

LoobyLou36 · 28/10/2008 13:39

When you go off things when pregnant do you go back to liking them once the baby is born? I now love chocolate - never used to eat it really, and cups of tea - although I am rationing myself to 3 cups a day. I have completely gone off indian food - pre-pregnancyy I could have eaten it any time of the day.

Momino · 28/10/2008 14:51

looby, i'd gone off asparagus in 1st pregnancy 2.5 years ago and can barely stomach it now.

i've just gone off things that i overdid in early pregnancy, the sweet things: fudge (proper, burnt sugar or clotted cream type), cinnamon/raisin bagels, dime bars, also coleslaw and crisps. all these things make my stomach turn now.

at 13.5 weeks, my MS symptoms only just calming, still feel yukky by end of day. never sure what I have a taste for. but tonight, it must be domino's pizza. not the nice, continental pizza (off-pregnancy, I'm usually a pizza snob) but the thick, chewy, american style. don't know why. I never really liked it before and am usually a very healthy eater. pregnancy does weird things to my hunger.

Momino · 28/10/2008 14:55

anyone have vein problems? i used to be a runner and thought this would help me avoid the vericose veins that afflict most of my family members.

pregnancy no. 2 made a big one come out in my calf and the leg now aches a bit (has done off/on since dd2's birth last year). those of you who have them - what can/do you do? don't want to go down the weird sock route (reminds me of grandma) but it's winter so no one sees much leg, and if it helps....

trying to keep legs up when possible. but impossible with two young children and a young dog.

Febes · 28/10/2008 15:39

Hi everyone I just had a lovely lunch with friends and loads of babies and children, 11, 6, 5, 20 months, 11 months (dd),and a nearly 4 week old. Also one thats due in december and my one due in may so lots of baby talk. It was lovely .

Its so cold today. Winter is definately here.

Jools1 · 28/10/2008 15:47

Momino - I have bad veins on my legs and so does my mum, so I'm guessing it runs in the family.

Someone told me that the bio oil she used for stretch mark prevention also improved the "look" of existing veins and marks on her legs, so I'm going to try that

I've had a hormonal tantrum this afternoon - I help administer another board (nothing like MN) and, although I do a lot of work in the background, managing all the spam joiners we seem to get, I constantly feel as if I'm being told I'm not doing enough and not doing things right and nearly told them where they could put their unpaid - do it for love admin responsibilities this afternoon - logged off that site and had a good cry instead - feel much better now

OP posts:
FiKelly · 28/10/2008 16:17

jools good to get it out of the system. I'm sure they really do appreciate all you do... A lack of knowledge I find can often be the major reason for most grumbling/moaning... maybe they just don't know what's involved in doing all that you do.

as far as going off things go... I went off avocados with vinaigrette when pregnant with DS and couldn't face them at all for the last 2 years & i've avoided them like the plague... now strangely i've had to have a daily fix of one at lunch for the last week with this one!

so maybe you go off things permanently until the next pregnancy? lol!

Jennster · 28/10/2008 17:14

Momino, I have worn surgical stockings for 9 years. They are great at releiving aching legs. You can get them so they look like opaque tights in hold ups and below knee popsocks, but you need to get the sort that you get measured for in a pharmacy. Any that go off shoe size just aren't the same.

Jennster · 28/10/2008 17:15

relieving

bantam73 · 28/10/2008 17:25

Hi everyone

We had our scan this afternoon and everything is perfect but they had trouble doing the measurements due to the baby been over-active, arms and legs everywhere. Our date have slightly changed we are 13+4wks so due 1st may not the 5th

Momino · 28/10/2008 17:50

bantam, great on the scan - you're the same due date as me!

Jennster, will go for the pharmacy socks as they're bad enough to get the 'proper' ones.
Jools, will try the bio stuff as i think i need to pamper myself and my legs a bit. i'm not very good at that.

Jools1 · 28/10/2008 18:07

Great news on the scan

I have a shopping challenge for you

We live in a 2 bed Victorian terrace and the "spare" room is currently DP's haven when he can't sleep / I kick him out for snoring etc etc. That room is going to end up being a nursery, all being well, so I'll have to somehow shoehorn a small double bed into my loft study and make it into his alternative bedroom / a guest room aswell.

The study is split in two by the stairs - one side has reasonable head room and the other doesn't really - you could just about walk down one side. I currently have quite a lot of clutter in there, plus a craft desk, a work desk and lots of bookcases and my camping equipment, so lots of decluttering needed first, but I thought I'd look at options.

I though about a chair / sofa bed but we really need something that he can crawl into at 2 in the morning without having to make a bed up ifswim. I think I once saw a sofa bed that folds up with the bedding inside it, but am not sure where ??

The only other alternative I can think of is to get one of those really really low Ikea bed frames and just pile the bed with a throw and loads of cushions so it can be my reading seat when working from home

Any great ideas spring to mind ?? This might also end up being my bf haven aswell - we can't fit a king-size bed in our main bedroom, so I think any co-sleeping is going to be me and baby only !

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 28/10/2008 18:15

Hi!

Had scan today too! All fine Due date now 10th May so am 12+2. I actually believe I'm pregnant!

Have uploaded a piccie incase anyone hasn't seen enough scan photos...

bantam - glad your scan went well too

Momino - I've always had problems with veins on my legs. Think it runs in the family as my Mum has too. The support tights / flight socks do help. Especially as I'm often on my feet all day at work.

Jools - I think I saw a sofa bed that folds up with the bedding on it too once. If that's what it'll be mainly used for though, could you leave a sofa bed open as a bed most of the time?

1stMrsF · 28/10/2008 18:15

Hi, may I join? I am 11 weeks with first pregnancy. Living in Surrey, work full time & commute to London (not good for m/s). I got married in June this year. Currently feeling pretty bad with sickness most of the time and no bump as first so finding keeping secret until scan (6th Nov) quite difficult.

On names, I would like to give our children Welsh middle names as I am Welsh and not too popular - I have a very unusual name and I loved growing up with it, even though I always have to spell it and usually correct the pronunciation. (DH English and very traditional so I am currently trying to talk him out of names that I think are dull!) I have a real feeling that I've got a girl, but DH wants a boy. We think we will try to find out at the 23 week scan.

Nice to meet you all and look forward to chatting with you.
