norash40 · 11/03/2005 14:21

sorry 3mummy I must have fallen asleep. Only got about 3 hrs last night. To be honest with you I am in so much pain (lower abdomen) I can barely stand leave alone walk.

I think I need a commode because soon I will not be able to leave the sofa. sorry to mourn guys, I know we are all feeling it at this point.

thedame71 · 11/03/2005 17:02

Well, had contractions every six minutes at lunch time for over an hour and they very quickly increased to every 2 minutes! Called the hosp and they said come in, we did and everything promptly stopped!

Cue and hour of walking up and downstairs trying to get things started again to no avail!

So have come back home and had a rest, having mild twinges but nothing like before.

Am now 3 cm dilated apparently.

Just goes to show you how different each labour can be, my first 15 hours, second 6 hours and this one 3 days so far to go from 1cm to 3cm!

Maybe things will kick in again tonight!

3mummy · 11/03/2005 17:17

thedame71 - you must be sooo disappointed! At least when you get to 3cm you are officially "in established labour" . Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Caster oil, anyone........????????

bonym · 11/03/2005 20:18

Thedame - how frustrating for you . I've heard though that it's fairly common for things to slow down or stop once you get to hospital (because you're not so relaxed as at home). Hope things start to happen for you again soon - sure they will.

OP posts:
thedame71 · 11/03/2005 20:43

Had about another hour of contractions about 6pm and then nothing but they have started again now about every 10 mins and quite painful - scared to go to hospital too early again tho!

But looking forward to that epidural if this is only the tip of the iceberg.... It all comes flooding back to you and I am thinking why on earth did I not just stop at two kids!!!!

Hopefully will report back this weekend with some positive news xxxx

bonym · 11/03/2005 21:19

Good luck - keeping fingers crossed for that all goes well x

thedame71 · 12/03/2005 13:01

The dame here (still!!!!)

absolutely nothing happening in the slightest. Contractions stopped about 10 pm last night and I thought I'll go to bed and get a bit of rest as I felt sure they would start up again during the night.... I had the best nights sleep I have had in two months!

Will try going for a long walk etc.. etc.. to try and get things started again later but a part of me can't be bothered either!

I thought third births were meant to be quick, straight forward and easy!

3mummy · 12/03/2005 13:22

thedame - really hope they are once they get going - this is my 3rd too .

DH is home tonight so I won't panic should anything start once he's home. Have got to hang on til after dinner tomorrow - Dad is cooking a massive roast for the whole family and I am not missing that!!

Feeling tired and ratty today, have turned in to nasty mummy and am feeling very guilty!! Every bit of mess seems to be winding me up, I keep wondering round the house saying things like "why is mummy not happy in this room?!" and "tidy those toys up before I put them all in the bin!"..... My poor girls, they're only playing, and it is Saturday. They are being very sweet to me too... just to rub it in .

Fingers crossed for a better tempered afternoon .

Hope things get started for you thedame, I look forward to your announcement .

Still with me bonym? Are we holding out for our due dates?

Leogaela · 12/03/2005 13:47

Good luck thedame! hopefully things have already started up for you agian and the next thing we will hear from you will be your birth announcement!!!!

3mummy - poor you! being pregnant with no other kids to look after was bad enough!!!!

3mummy · 12/03/2005 14:02

Hi Leogaela, the kids aren't that bad really , love 'em to bits, and they do help me in my current state - they find it lots of fun picking stuff up that I keep dropping and can't pick up! And baby bump and I get lots of sweet higs and kisses from "big sisters"

How's Niklas getting on? Bet you're loving being a mummy! I'm getting quite excited now at the prospect of a new little one. I have finally washed and dried all the baby clothes and packed my bags. I am ready (ish) .

3mummy · 12/03/2005 14:03

I am going mad on the smileys today! Hee Hee!

bonym · 12/03/2005 18:30

Thedame - poor you! Maybe your body is just doing things gradually, bit by bit, so that when you go into labour "proper" it will all be over very quickly . Keeping fingers crossed for you.
3mummy - can really empathise with the irritable moods. I'm finding myself getting periodically wound up over the slightest little thing and snapping at poor dd and dh. I then feel really guilty and spend ages saying "I'm sorry". Mind you, they're both very understanding and seem to forgive me. I guess it's the combination of not sleeping well, everything aching and not being able to do much. Oh well, only another couple of weeks to go - I don't think anything is going to happen much before my due date - baby feels very settled where she is!

Another lovely girl to add to the March brood. Lauren was born on March 9 by C/S after I developed pre-eclampsia. Had my doctors appointment at 13h00 and all my vitals were sky high so was told to be back at the hospital by 15h30. Gave birth at 17h45, same as Pidge. Bit of a sudden shock, but the ceasar went very well. Lauren was 9 pounds 4 ounces (4.25kgs), has lots of dark hair and was the biggest baby on the ward. Back home now and battling a bit with the latching but tons of milk. Totally in love. DH a natural. Wonderful to watch him with her. My milk has come in today and my boobs are huge!! Congrats to all the other mums.

3mummy · 13/03/2005 11:50

Congratulations Jambot!! You sound soooo happy! Poor you on the shock of c section, but at least you and Lauren are well. And might I add what a truly beautiful name you've chosen.... same name as my dd1!!

Pidge · 13/03/2005 11:50

jambot - HUGE congratulations - so Lauren and Iris share a birthday! Actually Iris beat her to it by 12 hours, as she was a 5.45am arrival.

thedame - really hope something is happening for you now - I think Girly had a similar experience with her third - lots of on off contractions for days. Fingers crossed that baby makes up its mind to come out soon.

Am finding it rather hard to find time to come online these days, but it's so lovely to read everyone's news.

I am physically a wreck - the stitches mean I can't sit, stand or walk without being in agony, and my nipples are completely shredded from Iris feeding. I'm going to go to a breastfeeding clinic on Tuesday to get some help with that - one side is slightly improved, but feeding her from the other side always results in her vomiting up milk with blood in it - ouch. Had the same experience with dd1, and I persevered and made it, so am battling on again.

Otherwise I am deliriously happy with my two girls. My parents are going to stay for a fortnight and they are the most relaxed chilled out people imaginable, so it's perfect. They either entertain my dd1 or help dp with cooking me nice food, or generally wait on my every need. I'm so lucky to have such a great family.

Boneym - I can't tell you how fantastic the Splashdown pool was. I honestly don't know how I could have delivered the baby without it. It just took the edge off the pain and relaxed me enough to push her out. And it was so magical and calm having the baby in water. I just wish we'd been a bit more organised and I'd got more than 20 minutes in there . But the whole speed of the thing caught me somewhat unawares after my marathon first birth.

bonym · 13/03/2005 18:00

Congratulations Jambot - Lauren is a lovely name - hope you recover from your cs soon. I saw your post this morning and was going to post then but then suddenly came over all emotional thinking about all these babies being born and that it won't be long before mine is here . The final straw was reading your post about the pool (don't know why!) Pidge, and also how happy you are despite all the sore physical stuff - I found myself in tears and had to close the computer! Hormones eh?
I have been "nesting" like mad this afternoon so wonder if this is a sign that I may not have to wait much longer. Mind you, it could just be because dh has a stinking cold and I'm trying to get everything done to stop him doing it . He is a terrible patient and has to be forced to rest if he's poorly - he just wants to look after me bless him. I keep telling him he has to get fighting fit again so he can support me in labour!

i'm here waitng too. having c/s on wednesday all being well. want to be able to feel a bit more comfortable and normal now! anyway, i may not be able to access computer for a while, will do best as soon as dd is born. cant decide on name yet either! and enjoying 'guess the weight' at home ! got all baby stuff and room ready.
good luck all the best to you all.
take care of yourselves.

thedame71 · 13/03/2005 18:42

congratulations Jambot! And good luck to Charlie 95 on Wednesday!

I'm getting jealous of all you lucky mums getting to meet your babies!

I can't believe I am still sat here, nearly one week late. Went to park today for a brisk walk with the kids and kept bumping into people saying 'still here?' and had to bite the sarcastic comments back!!!! My sense of humour is failing!

Sort of resigned to the fact that unless I have it in the next day or two I will probably miss DS1 birthday party on sat... as long as DP can make it though!

It almost seems unreal now that I am going to have a baby, I can't describe it - like its a big joke on me!

Send some positive vibes and I hope I can avoid being induced on Friday!

norash40 · 14/03/2005 09:34

congratulations jambot. happy for you gal. enjoy the baby

norash40 · 14/03/2005 09:35

all the best charlie.

3mummy · 14/03/2005 13:18

Hi everyone, I have some news!!..... My waters broke yesterday afternoon at 3pm (as soon as I'd finished my roast dinner!). So got changed called MW/Hosp and they said I'd better go in for monitoring, but there was no rush ........ so I went back to my Dads and had pudding !

Started having tightenings (mildly painful) every ten mins and got to Hosp about 8:30pm. Monitored and examined for a couple of hours, pains faded away and was sent home with instructions to come back if labour started, but if nothing happens I have to go in tomorrow morning 8am to be induced !

I did have a good nights sleep last night though, but now I'm getting frustrated just waiting!!

There's me thinking my third would be quick!?

Charlie95 - good luck for wed morning!

Bonym - I might just beat you to it

thedame71 - I have my fingers crossed for you, you must be going mad by now?!

Norash40 - how are you feeling now?

If I disappear, you know where I'll be!!
