Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
norash40 · 09/03/2005 13:50

Hey guys, I am having so much discharge I thought I had wet myself. I honestly hope that things are progressing.

I this normal?

norash40 · 09/03/2005 13:51

Sorry, is this normal? So much discharge?

bonym · 09/03/2005 13:54

3mummy - LOL at your dh
thedame - looks as though you're on your way! Things are really hotting up on this thread - there'll be no-one left soon!
Norash - could your waters be leaking? If you need a pad then it's probably your waters (expecially if you've been having regular contractions for the last day). Why don't you ring your midwife and get checked over?

bonym · 09/03/2005 13:56

Damn - I'm supposed to go and listen to my hypnosis tape (birth preparation) before I pick dd up from school but things are just too exciting here at the moment. I'm worried if I go away you'll have all given birth by the time I come back on !!!!

OP posts:
norash40 · 09/03/2005 13:59

LOL bonym

3mummy · 09/03/2005 14:01

bonym - I promise I won't !

Norash40 - Definitely call your midwife!! I agree with bonym, looks like you are on your way!!

norash40 · 09/03/2005 14:01

Definately not my waters. Just almost watery discharge and very white almost odourless.

bonym · 09/03/2005 14:01

Ok - I'm going now - 3mummy - I'll hold you to that promise

OP posts:
norash40 · 09/03/2005 14:03

See you later bonym

3mummy · 09/03/2005 14:04

Norash40 - could be the start of a "show", if I were you I'd call MW and have a chat with her, she might check you over and confirm either way - you may be in "slow labour".

3mummy · 09/03/2005 14:06

bonym - I can't have baby in less than 2hrs as thats how long it'd take DH to get back from work!! And it seems I'm the only one not having any signs of labour...

Bye for now bonym.

norash40 · 09/03/2005 14:09

I have sort of lost faith in these mws. To be honest with you right now I think the less i speak to them the better.

I had an appointment on Friday 10:45, so they call me at 10:25 and tell me that I am 25mins late and that the mw had left. So I get a bit worried on Sunday and go into the labour ward. Well what do they do, just because I am a first time mum I am worryikng over nothing.

They send me home with 4 codydramol tablets. Nobody even wants to listen to what I have to say about how I am feeling. As I said, as far as they are concerned I am just another 1st tikme Mum who is worrying bout nothing. Send them home to have a bath and give them some pain killers.

3mummy · 09/03/2005 14:20

Keep trying norash40, I know it's frustrating but they are there for you to go to for reassurance as much as anything. Pregnancy is a big thing every time, and when it's all new can be a bit scary, I'm sure there are some MWs who understand this! When you call them just be completely honest, tell all your fears/worries about your symptoms and remember they are there for you. 37wks is not a time to be stressed, let them know you feel like you are being fobbed off and could someone at least examine you to see if you are actually in some kind of labour stage?

I don't know if that helps, but I remember how I felt first time round, and I'm just as bad now! . If all else fails get in to see your doc and explain about the MW treatment, if you get a family man they are usually sympathetic and will help you out.

Please don't worry too much, when labour does actually "kick in" you'll know and you'll be able to cope.

xx

norash40 · 09/03/2005 14:31

Thanks 3mummy. This makes me feel better, but I think I will give it a couple of hrs and see how it goes. My hubby says that if I am having a lot of discharge it might be that my 'plug' is going or gone.

He said that some research shows that not all women have blood when they have the 'show'.

thedame71 · 09/03/2005 14:46

Norash, I had a great deal of discharge (had to wear a pad) for about 3 weeks now - I thought it was the show/plug but then last night and this morning I def had a bloody show.

I think the discharge is good - it shows the cervex is ripening and getting ready for all the hard work shortly.

Call the midwife again though if you are worried. xxx

norash40 · 09/03/2005 16:20

Hey guys,

Does the baby still kick during labour? I mean really kick.

bonym · 09/03/2005 16:31

Hi Norash - yes, I'm certain the baby does still kick in labour (from what I remember). I am appalled at the treatment you have had from the midwives. As 3mummy says, you should perservere. Even us 2nd time mums worry over "nothing" when pg and they should be there to reassure you. Are you still having contractions? If so, I think the key is to time them and if they are coming at regular (ie. same number of minutes between each one) intervals then you may well be in early labour. If they are "regular" but the length of time between each one varies then probably just Braxton Hicks. But, I am not an expert, so if you are really concerned, I would ring the midwife. Keep us updated!

Hi all, quick message to say I've had the baby. Sylvia Eloise was born on March 1st, 7lb 13oz, 52 cm. She was taken to intensive care a few hours after birth as she was having breathing difficulties. Now she's breathing on her own (those days on the ventilator were terrifying) and we're waiting to get her feeding properly so she can come home. At the moment she has a naso-gastric tube for feeding and has shown minimal interest in breastfeeding - basically, she falls asleep as soon as she's put to the breast. The CS was fine and I was able to stand up and walk a few hours after (DH had to go home with DS and I wanted to see Sylvie in intensive care, so I just had to get up and walk, although could have asked to be wheeled there if absolutely needed). Anyway, I'll try and catch up with how everyone's doing. Cristina

misdee · 09/03/2005 16:56

has anyone heard anything from shalaa yet? her waters broke on the 19th feb.

bonym · 09/03/2005 17:31

19th Feb??!! Well, she has to have had the baby then. Hopefully she is too loved up with it to find time to come on mumsnet. She's got a real life now! (Unlike sad old me who has become hopelessly addicted...)
