Shalaa must've had the baby by now, it was a bit early for her waters to go though, maybe she's been in hospital? Hope everything's ok shalaa.... if you're out there .

3mummy · 09/03/2005 17:32

bonym - LOL me too! I am sooooo uncomfortable sat here, but I can't move!!!

3mummy · 10/03/2005 08:41

Morning girls, my word, have you all gone into labour? No posts for a whole evening!

My cold is still ravaging, I was up every 2hrs for a wee in the night, so I don't feel like I'm getting much rest at the moment . That said, I am going to get the kids off to school and nursery and try to get my head down for a couple of hours .

Hope you are all well and labouring nicely!

Leogaela · 10/03/2005 09:07

Congratulations cristina! Its good to know that Sylvia is being well cared for. I hope she is home with you ASAP!
Well done for managing to walk to see her after the CS. I am impressed!

Leogaela · 10/03/2005 09:11

No news from Pidge yet!!!

Yes, it would be really great to hear from Shalaa!

Mummy3 hope the cold gets better! Its worrying knowing you could go into labour anytime and you are not feeling well!

I hope some of the other still pregnant girls turn up soon to keep you company!

I am taking Niklas out into Zurich on my own for the first time today. Meeting a friend for lunch, i am still nervous about the possibility of having to bfeed in public!

ZoeC · 10/03/2005 12:46

Hi,

Nothing happening here so I'm still around. Dd is resolutely not sleeping at all in the day now, trouble is I can't get through the day without nodding off at some point. Bless her, she is very good about it but I do feel rather sorry for her at times - can't be much fun having a mummy in this state!

My main night time problem is every time I try and roll over, my pelvis really really hurts until I complete the manoeuver and settle down again. But on the other hand, if I don't move for too long (day mostly) it seems to stiffen up and hurt then too. I'm guessing baby is maybe pressing on a nerve, or is just blinking heavy .

Never mind, it'll all be over before I know it . How is everyone else bearing up?

3mummy · 10/03/2005 13:24

Hi Zoec, I know how you feel just wanting to fall asleep in the afternoons, I slept this morning while dd2 was at nursery and I still want to just zonk on the sofa now. She is pretty good at occupying herself while I doze though, if I put cbeebies on she does colouring and wakes me to see the odd drawing she's done. I do feel like a bad mum though, but like you say, it'll be all over soon .

My lovely DH thinks dads should get leave to take for the 2wks before the baby's due just so us mums can get lots of rest in prep for labour and new baby - I think my DH should run the country!!

thedame71 · 10/03/2005 16:41

Still here waiting , nearly 4 days late now! Nothing really happening after getting the 'show' two evenings ago so getting a bit fed up now.

Basically would like to stay in bed and hibernate until labour starts!

Went for accupunture today, a friend of mine went to the same lady the other week and went into labour that night so fingers crossed. I have to say I didn't really enjoy the experience, I felt rather faint at the thought of the needles in me - I couldn't look! But I'm desperate now,,,,,,

No news from Pidge yet?
What about you London Mummy?

3mummy · 10/03/2005 16:42

Norash40 - were you in labour? have you had that baby??

Pidge????

Jambot???

Bonym - please tell me you haven't beaten me to it?

............I'm gonna end up on the April thread, I just know it...... or here.... all alone ......... sad lil' 'ole me .

3mummy · 10/03/2005 16:46

Thedame71 - hi, glad someones still here, althought I suppose technically you are on your way out of here! Bet you are glad something has happened? Did you tell MW about the show?

thedame71 · 10/03/2005 17:02

Haven't told midwives about show - I'll wait until I get another sure sign that things are happening.

I really don't want to be induced though, my DS1 birthday is on the 19th and I was really hoping to have a reasonable amount of time between the birthdays or else March is gonna be full on with birthday parties for the next 10 years!!!!

3mummy when are you due? Any twinges yet?
x

3mummy · 10/03/2005 17:18

I'm due on the 23rd - which is 2 days before DD2's birthday, so yeh, I know what you mean about parties!! DD2 wants the baby to be her present and would be quite happy if it were born on her birthday but I would like things to happen next week . My girls are 18mths apart so the birthdays are a nice 6mths apart, shame I didn't put more thought into it when planning this one, doh!

3mummy · 10/03/2005 17:21

Am seeing the MW in the morning for antenatal, 38wks 2days. Last week was 2/5 engaged and am definitely getting more groin nerve pains this week, so hope baby has dropped again.

bonym · 10/03/2005 19:12

HI everyone - don't worry 3mummy, I've not beaten you to it! Dh took the laptop to work with him today (well, it is his ) and our main computer is in for repair so I've been feeling a bit lost all day !! He's just back in and, bless him, has taken dd for her bath so I can catch up with the March comings and goings!
ZoeC - I am having exactly the same problem at night - such an effort to turn over (and painful) and the longest stretch of sleep I'm managing is no more than 3hrs before I wake up needing to turn/go to the loo/both!
Midwife came today and all is fine so still planning a home birth. Baby is now 3/5ths engaged - was 2/5ths this time last week, but I knew she had moved up again a couple of days ago as she was back up under my ribs making breathing very difficult. Hope she stays down this time!
I reckon Pidge, Jambot and Norash have all given birth by now (or are in the process of doing so!) will keep a sharp eye on the birth announcements .
Leogaela - hope you trip to Zurich went well - what is the general attitude to b/feeding there? Are people generally accepting of it in public? I don't remember ever having any problems with feeding DD here and that was 7 years ago so I'm hoping it will be the same this time around. Mind you, I was living in central London at the time which was slightly more "anything goes" than Cardiff is, so we'll see!

3mummy · 10/03/2005 19:38

Hi bonym, glad you're still here - sorry that kinda sounds like I'm being mean!! I think we are all at the "just get the thing outta me" stage. All the last weeks aches and pains, magnified at night, and OMG how many times can I wee in one night??? I literally had to run to the bathroom last night (not a pretty sight).

Still, I suppose it's just mother natures way of reminding us that we are gonna be sleep deprived for a while yet.

So bonym, 3/5 and counting. Good stuff!

I must say I'm quite looking forward to the whole breastfeeding in public thing. I couldn't BF dd2 and although I did BF dd1 I had no reason ever to leave the house so stayed quite comfy in my armchair snuggling for months!! I have no quarms about feeding in public, I find it far less offensive (or in fact harmful to others) than smoking and if every second person in town can do that I don't see why I shouldn't feed my baby when he/she is hungry .

Hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm..... go to happy place.... hhhhhmmmmmmmmmm.... too much caffiene....get off soapbox..........

Ok, ok, fine now... off to scoff Mars bars and veg infront of tele wearing new (and very comfy I might add) maternity pjs from M'care.

Pidge · 10/03/2005 21:45

We have yet another girl to add to the March contingent! Iris Caitlin arrived at 5.45am yesterday (March 9th) - see the Birth Announcements for details.

She is utterly gorgeous, and looks just like her sister did at this age. I'd sort of forgotten how your body feels as though it's been hit by a truck at this stage, but am also deliriously happy. Very sore from the stitching where I tore, and also from feeding. Iris decided to be awake and wanting to feed constantly from about 8.30pm till 4am last night! But I think we're getting a better latch now, so hopefully things will improve on that front.

We had dp's mother here cooking both lunch and supper for us today, and now my parents are staying so we are being wonderfully well looked after.

Dd seems to be taking it pretty much in her stride - she is so beautifully gentle with the baby, and strokes her if she cries and gives her cuddles. She asked me twice last night "Where is the baby's mummy", so I explained that I was the baby's mummy, but was still her mummy too, which rather flummoxed her!

thedame71 - my show was almost a week before labour kicked off, and continued pretty much every day in between.

Cristana7 - huge congratulations! Hope you get her home really really soon.

norash40 - hope you are doing ok.

Am off to feed Iris, then hope for a better night's sleep than last night!

Good luck to everyone still waiting, and everyone with a newborn, will be checking in again soon to find out how you're all doing.

Cristina7 · 11/03/2005 01:03

Many congratulations, Pidge. Lovely names for your daughter. Enjoy your little Iris.

Leogaela · 11/03/2005 10:28

Congratulations Pidge!

Bonym - Luckily yesterday I discovered a shop with a very nice room with a baby changing area and a chair where I fed Niklas. Switzerland is quite a funny place, they still have quite traditional ideas about the mothers place being at home and most women give up work completely (or do a token 20%) and disappear behind closed doors for the first few years after they have children. I have never seen anyone BFeeding in public, but maybe I just haven't noticed it because people manage to do it so discreetly, but I don't think they would be quite as accepting of it as they are in the UK.

3mummy - BFeeding in public will be fine, but at the moment I am not confident enough that Niklas will latch on without a fuss and I prefer to do it discreetly until I get more confident.

I have noticed that lots of the March mums have gone very, very quiet! I hope everyone is well and we hear their birth annoucements soon!!!!

bonym · 11/03/2005 10:40

Hey Pidge - congratulations! Love the names - Caitlin was on my list but dh vetoed it

3mummy · 11/03/2005 11:22

Hi all,

Just got back from the MW and she said baby is right down and ready to come out now, so "any day now" were her words and she was surprised to see me today! Woo hoo!

norash40 · 11/03/2005 12:36

HHHHeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyy Pidge, Congratulations

I am so happy for you. Wish it was me though

3mummy · 11/03/2005 12:40

Norash40, how are you? Thought you'd joined the "labour lot"

norash40 · 11/03/2005 12:43

Update

Was in hospital last night (turned out to be nothing) Oh well better luck next time I hope.

Saw the consultant this morning, definately not going to induce me. Said so many women give birth to big babies "very reassuaring"

I am in so much pain I can barely walk, but I am just happy that both the Alien and I are fine. Isn't it good news about Pidge?

norash40 · 11/03/2005 12:44

I wish 3mummy. I wish.

3mummy · 11/03/2005 12:55

Sorry you're feeling rough, I too am finding it very uncomfortable to walk, but am trying to think positively that its because the baby is so low and ready to come out!! .

Brilliant news about pidge, yes, she got the HB she wanted .

Really try not to worry about the baby being big, I was chatting to one of the mums in the playground yesterday and she is tiny - 5ft2 and about 8st and both her babies were over 9lbs, and she had them naturally. The docs won't let you do it yourself if they really believe you can't.

Put your feet up and enjoy your last days of peace .
