LackaDAISYcal · 17/10/2008 21:10

wow a last minute doula for you misdee....sounds good! I love my doula already

MonkeyMargot · 17/10/2008 21:11

Oh goodness Dozy and Vbabs...! I've suddenly realised we could have several people all going into labour.....scary!!
Spoke to my BF today, and she pointed out her first-born was 2 weeks and 5 days early - which would be like me popping today. Cor blimey...

misdee · 17/10/2008 21:12

lacks, tricky third labours? nah, dd3 was induced, but was already 4cm at 38 weeks, sojust ARM. very easy labour.

is it wrong i am hoping for labout to start at 38 weeks?

LackaDAISYcal · 17/10/2008 21:24

not at all wrong misdee, we were just talking about that ealrier in the week...you can join the "want the baby out now" camp. I would be more than happy for this one to come sooner rather than later......unless it's the school holiday week (no-one to look after the DCs) then it needs to be later

misdee · 17/10/2008 21:25

oh not in the want the baby out now camp just yet. want to wait another two weeks then will join you lot lol.

i told dh i wanted a fireworks baby.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/10/2008 21:32

lol...a good friend of mine was a bonfire night baby....he is a real livewire, so there is maybe something in it.

That's the day before my EDD so it's possible here! Actually the hospital is on a hill so I'd get a great view of all the fireworks over the city

LadyBuzz · 17/10/2008 21:54

Lacks I'm with you with the nipple thing - like red hot needles! tried the lansinoh yesterday but it didn't really help. I'm not really leaky unless I squeeze (sorry TMI ) but so very very sore. Let me know if you find any relief!
Its so exciting that there will be loads of babies coming soon, I can't wait.
Ceebee My Great niece (we know its a girl) will be my baby's second or half cousin! Still no news yet though bless her!
LOL at Daisy watching the fireworks whilst in labour!

LackaDAISYcal · 17/10/2008 21:57

the cold air is really getting to them as well....as does walking down the fridge aisles in the soopermarket. DH keeps making coathook remarks and DD uses them ad convenient handholds when climbing up on me

Gah, I want my body back already!

MerryMarigold · 18/10/2008 04:51

Just catching up - my nightly routine.

Obs, it is funny you should mention this as my blood sugars have also gone a lot lower all of a sudden in the last week and had 2 'hypo' readings. I know it is not at all comparable to you, but I was interested to see the similarity. I have drastically reduced the insulin and am eating more naughty things, but at least I don't have long to go now. I think even if the placenta is beginning to 'slow down' in performace, it's not going to suddenly up and stop working. With twins, placental breakdown towards the end is common and they recommend eating a LOT of protein, eggs, nuts, meat. Could you not speak to your 2 Kings consultants on the phone (the diabetes one and Mr Marsh).

I saw my 'lovely' consultant yesterday. He came out with another classic: "I think you'll go into labour before Wednesday." I asked why and he said in surprised voice, "Because you're having twins!". Er...yeah, but I will still only be (just) 37 weeks. He also scanned and confirmed twin 1 head down and twin 2 transverse so could try for natural birth, but he was extremely evasive on what I should do and once again just didn't answer the question. I spoke to lovely midwife who recommended I have the section. Felt so relieved, that someone who actually KNOWS something was willing to make a recommendation (even though she had to say, 'I'm saying this without my uniform on, as if you were my daughter'). Ahhhhhhh...she was lovely.

I think we need another thread baby this weekend. Come on babies!

MerryMarigold · 18/10/2008 05:15

I vote for MonkeyMargot, you have tempted fate now .

MerryMarigold · 18/10/2008 05:16

Ps. Sorry to all scrabble partners. I have tried to avoid internet in the day as a) so tired and b) ds been playing up so trying to be more focussed on him while I can be. My head is not where it should be in the middle of the night.

Righty ho, back to bed now.

MonkeyMargot · 18/10/2008 07:36

Merry - your MW sounds lovely. In contrast, your consultant sounds like an idiot! Are you having to measure your insulin because you are expecting twins? I wasn't aware of that.
Hopefully you feel happy with the decision to have a CS. It does seem to make sense. Don't worry about Scrabble - it won't disappear!
As regards babies appearing on our thread - it can't be me MM because we are text buddies! I am due on Bonfire night, and wasn't feeling like I wanted it out early or anything, however I had a funny old day yesterday, did lots of cleaning and got loads of stuff done, DH got back from work and criticised one of the things I'd done, and I literally just started sobbing. This is not normal. I haven't been that emotional during PG. My tummy was also a bit off colour. However, no sign of anything happening - an uneventful night.
Hope everyone slept well!

mum2becks · 18/10/2008 07:44

Morning everyone, hope you all have good weekends planned? Will it include any babies arriving???

Havent been on for a few days so cant possibly remember everything I have read to try and catch up!

obs hope you have had enough movements through the night to put your mind at rest!

MerryM your consultant sounds very funny coming out with the random comments that he does! And never gives you any answers, please that you found a useful MW instead

vbab sounds like all the decorating is finally coming to a close just in time (well hopefully unless you feeling unwell is early labour )

Sorry to others that I have missed

I have had a sneaky look at the due Oct thread and they have babies arriving every day now and more than half of them have now been born, its still hard to believe thats where our thread will be by this time next month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 18/10/2008 08:49

morning

another rubbish night chex daisy, and this is only with the children that we already have!!! I'm hoping that they are getting all of it out of the way before Virgil arrives . DD this time. she has had a temperature since yesterday and is just out of sorts, nothing specific, but she kept waking up screaming in the night inspite of 1st some calpol and then some medised.

I'm hoping it isn't an ear infection and is just teething, but teething wouldn't cause a temperature would it?

LadyBuzz · 18/10/2008 10:41

Daisy I hope you are right snd everything has cleared up intime for LO arriving!
Merry glad your MW (like mine) has been very helpful and you are happy!
Well I am a great Aunty, My niece had her little girl at 12:45 this morning 6lb 14!

chocolategal · 18/10/2008 10:48

merrym are you managing to nap during the day? you must be completely exhausted! i feel sorry for myself if i have to get up more than twice a night to pee! and here you are doing a grand job of growing 2 babies and looking after DS

ladybuzz any news on your neice?
monkeym ive been very hormonal and crying at the most stupid things!

my DH had a rare day off yest so we went and started on the xmas shopping so i didnt have to do it myself when baby is here!

x

chocolategal · 18/10/2008 10:49

x posts ladyb thats fab news

LackaDAISYcal · 18/10/2008 11:10

congrats to your niece Lady B

ruthosaurus · 18/10/2008 12:26

Morning all, nice sunny one over here, hope it's the same for you!

Obs, hugs and hope today is better than yesterday!

Vbab - sure its not labour? Hope you feel better or have a baby soon! It is all getting terribly exciting, no? I am checking my knickers every time I go to the loo just in case, sorry for TMI. My decorating is also getting on the way - my DH and stepmum are doing the bedroom today, are starting on the woodwork as I type. I am doing housework instead. I am also PMSL inside as SM is doing DH's nut a bit as she has a tendency to take over, plus it's his first day off the fags and he can't be rude to her as she's being So Helpful. Tee hee [evil cackle]. Plus he got his hair cut yesterday and it's a bit too short, so he looks more grumpy than usual. Funny man got cross face!

Ladybuzz - congrats on your greatniece - babies babies babies! I am just SO broody and kept oogling other babies at Meadowhall last night so it's a good job I'm having my own in a few weeks. Or I'd definitely be getting a kitten and dressing it up in little bootees and bonnets.

Dozy I sometimes have to set up a separate Word document into which I type as I read - not just a spreadsheet queen...

Nipples - I have one leaky big one and one slightly smaller and more dormant one which leaks occasionally. They both leak at night so my swanky new pjs are now in the bloody wash. Feh.

Also, baby is RIGHT down there and it's doing my SPD thingy no good at all. V tired and achy even with band thing on and paracetamol.

Shopping last night was hell - having already been round town in the afternoon - as DH was obviously in a "look at and try on speculatively every pair of specs in Meadowhall" mood, not a "shit, Saurus looks knacked, I'll have these ones and get the heck out of here" mood. I had to have a slump at the comfy seats on the customer service desk while he got me a bottle of pop and the nice lady nearly called a 1st aider. Explained I was just 8 months pg and hadn't eaten for 8 hours and just needed sustenance.

Chocolategal, you have so much more sense than me...

Monkey, chin up, feeling weepy in the face of negative DH stuff is normal! Plus, go you on the cleaning etc. I cry at baby socks, Sweeny Todd (FFS), weather, etc.
Speaking of which, bugger, I'm making lunch for SM and DH... And I have to wash up 1st. Back later with more random wibble.

Can anyone give me some urgent help please? I need ideas for things to bring to my friend who is staying with her newborn in hospital. It is understandably driving her quite mental (altho at least the wee one is improving and now out of ICU).

Anyone got any better ideas than just the usual magazines/books/grapes?!!

Would be gratefully appreciated. Will catch up with all the chat now...

ceebee74 · 18/10/2008 12:40

Afternoon all

Right, I am in the mood for some babies so who do we think is going to be first - not including Merry (or any other elective cs ladies), I am going for Vbab before the week is out - just got a feeling about you!

Ladybuzz congratulations to your niece

Merry so glad you got an answer from the MW - isn't it annoying how they all sit on the fence constantly....grrr Thanks god for your MW 'taking her uniform off'

Hi to everyone else - hope you are all enjoying the weekend.

Have been swimming this morning and managed 40+ lengths then DH bought DS to join me so had another 25 minutes of playing in the pool. Am now knackered but fortunately DH has now taken DS to MIL's and the afternoon is mine - however Chelsea are on telly in about 5 minutes - come on Chelsea!!

LackaDAISYcal · 18/10/2008 12:41

sudoku book?

knitting kit? (you can get ones for scarves etc in hobbycraft)

mini tapestry kit?

ceebee74 · 18/10/2008 12:45

Sparks x-posts. We were in hospital with DS for 5 days when he was having his op and the worst thing was the boredom tbh as you are just sat by their cot - obviously newborns sleep a lot anyway so there were endless hours just sat around - so anything that will occupy her. Depends on what she likes doing - some good books, puzzle books etc. I assume they are staying in a relative's room in the hospital? The other thing that springs to mind is maybe some nice toiletries (travel-sized maybe?) so that when she has a shower, at least she feels good afterwards - I just remember feeling really grotty whilst we were there.

sparkletoes · 18/10/2008 13:03

Thanks for suggestions Ceebs Daisy, they are fab. Think she will like Sudoko book and toiletries and the knitting set also appeals to me so will ask if she would also like...

Ok attempted quick catch up with chat...

Hana you go girl! Also love idea of your new gadget! We have all our music downloaded on to the 'eggbox' (Xbox to everyone else!) which is good but not accessible throughout house...

Obs hope all is ok, hugs.

LadyBuzz congrats on become an (adjective) great auntie!

Dozy WISPAs are back? YAY! I loved them! But DH just been to shops so will need to wait til 2moro grrr!

It was beautiful here earlier but pouring now, the joys of our weather!

ruthosaurus · 18/10/2008 13:17

Sparkle did anyone else suggest the new wispa yet? Not very useful and won't keep your friend occupied for that long, but I bet it won't be in the hospital vending machines yet.

You could also bring her (or suggest to her DP to bring) a favourite cushion or pillow from home for her as hospital chairs are so wipe-clean and impersonal. At least she'd have something comfy and familiar there. Best of luck to them x And bless you for being such a great friend!
