Hi everyone.
I am o.k.
Busy counting/noting movements.
Enjoying your chat.

ruthosaurus · 18/10/2008 14:43

Hi obs, hope your kick chart has lots of ticks.

SM and DH have now finished undercoating the woodwork and are still friends. I have fed them lunch and they are now planning to move onto stripping the remaining wallpaper and starting to put new stuff up. I'm so pleased!

Plus, DH is doing really well with the not climbing the walls from nicotine withdrawal. Bless.

well done on your DH for stopping smoking rutho. Mine was supposed to give up with me when I got pregnant with DD........two years later he smokes at least five cigars a day, and they stink. He normally has one just before bed. I call them his wife deterrants.

I nag him periodically, but fat lot of use it does

He is hoovering in the other room with the DCs.....everyone is screaming at each other. I'm ignoring them!!

ruthosaurus · 18/10/2008 15:00

I would. Put headphones in and fall asleep if you can. Sounds like insanity!

What really got to DH was a posted we saw in the hospital yesterday with a photo of a baby in the womb and the words "Already he can see, blink and breathe in Daddy's cigarette smoke". DH actually welled up out of sheer guilt right there in the waiting room, poor man. I told him that it wasn't like he was strapping me down (hah!) and blowing smoke into my face, or that he was smoking in the bedroom, but he was still pretty miserable for a bit. I should have asked for a copy of the poster in case he falls off the wagon... Actually, shame on me for thinking of that. How evil.

Right, I am going to go and do my least fave job, stripping the sheets off the bed. Painful and boring. But then I get to do laundry, which is much nicer.

God, I have such a sad-arse life. More fascinating tales from Planet Saurus coming soon - tomorrow, marvel as Saurus takes the bins out. Woo!

Friend texted to say ILs going up today (of course as it is Sat so they won't be a work - duh Sparks). Thanks so much for suggestions tho am sure I will be able to use them soon and at least now have time to go to shops (and stock up on WISPAS)!

Thanks for saying that Ruthy I am caught between wanting to help so much but feeling so useless at same time! Just bloody relieved the wee one is improving though... isn't medical science amazing nowadays.

So glad all ok with you too Obs keep keepin us posted!

Well done to your SM & DH Ruthy, my DH has moved some surplus stuff out of the baby's room/his office but we are arguing already (hence my retreat to MN)...

Glad to hear you are keeping your sanity Lacks!

sparkletoes · 18/10/2008 15:08

Bless your DH Ruthy!!

Don't you dare take any bins out tho!!

ruthosaurus · 18/10/2008 15:13

Right, am officially crap at Scrabble - have 5 games on the go and am losing at them all....is this a record??

MonkeyMargot · 18/10/2008 17:01

Hello everyone!
Firstly, Ceebee, you are NOT crap at Scrabble. Each game you get closer and closer to beating me.
Saurus Wow - your SM and Dad sound fab - good on em for helping do all the DIY! And you've got be proud of DH for trying to give up smoking. It is really, really hard. I used that book by Allen Carr, "The Easy Way to give up smoking". It really worked for me. Haven't touched one or wanted one for 7 years. And bless him with his "slightly too short hair" - tee hee! My DH has long hippy hair, I have the opposite problem. And he's always pinching my posh (and pricey) Aveda shampoo. He's such a diva.
Also - on the subject of DIY - my DH is so, so crap that yesterday, when I had an electrician round doing odd jobs (dimmer switch in nursery etc) I actually got him to hang 2 pictures up which DH had been promising to do for....4 years. I felt a bit sheepish asking, but figured I'd milk the old pregnancy card..... Boy, it worked!
Just been out for lunch with 2 of my pals, one of whom had driven from Bristol which was v.sweet of her. Twas fab.
Obs Good luck with monitoring movement.
Sparkle I agree that Sudoku book is a great idea. Or what about loaning her a scrabble set??! . Hours of endless fun!
I've got a Lancashire hot pot cooking in the oven, it smells yuuuuuum. And an apple and blackberry crumble for afterwards. Who said domesticity was dead?

sparkletoes · 18/10/2008 17:13

Absolutely not crap Ceebs would say we are pretty much level pegging (IMO losing is then the opponent has like double+ your score)!

Yes I bought some Sudoko books when on mat leave last time to try to gear up my brain in gear for a RTW! They were great and very addictive.. I did consider Scrabble too, it is a shame she cannot access the net as she is on FB!

Funny you mention food Monkey as I have steaks (with Monkey Mushroom sauce) and Apple Pie on the go for mine, I'm ravenous!

LackaDAISYcal · 18/10/2008 17:49

I got a little electronic sudoku game last Christmas.....it's great as you can have it on a setting where it refuses the number if it's not right....great for beginners/the useless

cricri · 18/10/2008 17:51

Evening all!
Ceebee Play me at Scrabble because my opponent usually does get double my score
All this talk of food is making me hungry - we've got roast chicken tonight, yum!
Just come back from traipsing round tile and bathroom showrooms choosing stuff for our new bathroom in our extension. Exhausting but I think we're getting somewhere now. I kept having to sit down whenever I could find a seat. I ended up sitting on display toilets a couple of times!
Babies, babies - who's going to be next then Another of my NCT friends had hers today so there's just 2 of us out of the 7 to go. And the two who were due the day after me both had theirs this week! Bet I'll be last now...
My doula came round to see us today which was nice as she's really enthusiastic and positive. She's now "on-call" until I have the baby

LackaDAISYcal · 18/10/2008 17:55

I am craving curry; but all your dinners sound just lovely

vbab78 · 18/10/2008 17:57

ladybuzz congrats on being a great aunt.

ruthosaurus · 18/10/2008 18:03

I think yesterday caught up with me - I have just been sideswiped by the giant plank of tiredness. Does anyone else's DH have trouble understanding just how bloody tired you can get while pregnant? Mine was just shocked when I fell asleep just now while sitting up on a backless bench and talking to him. Prior to that he had been looking grumpy about me just sitting around doing cooking and washing etc while he does DIY with his mother-in-law...

Also, he is being a 'mare because of the nicotine deprivation. Poor sod, it always makes him v depressed when he quits but he always forgets this and thinks he's going on a downer, not suffering a physical withdrawal symptom. I'm not sure what to do with him other than going "there there" a lot.

No, we did that earlier. Won't work twice!

barbareebaa · 18/10/2008 18:04

Hello All!

Hope y'all having a fab weekend!

Obs - glad you've been getting lots of movements - fingers crossed all is well x

LadyBuzz Congratulations on becoming a great auntie

Merry Would love to come and visit you in hospital next week I'm not sure how visiting times work and wouldn't want to show up and intrude on family time or when you are resting - I've no plans so am very flexible - do you want to txt (are you allowed to?) when it is a good time and I will hop on the bus and come over...yay Rutho Well done your dh! Is very hard but is well worth it. Me and dh went cold turkey when I got preggers...not easy!

Erm sorry to everyone I missed

Found my first stretchmarks today - thought I'd got away with it! Bah!

is anyone elses cat driving them nuts? I used to be best pals with my moggy but now I can't bear her. She does my head in. She hasn't changed - it's definitely me.

This has taken me far too long to write so apologies in advance for x-posting!

barbareebaa · 18/10/2008 18:08

Rutho
My dh told me to hurry up the other day as I was limping along with my achy sciatic arse!!
He started out v. sympathetic but is becoming immune/ used to me being whineytired all the time. Not good!

ruthosaurus · 18/10/2008 18:18

Hey barbs! I gave up the moment I read the pg test and haven't looked back (went off booze like it was poison as well) but DH has been "meaning to" for ages, bless him. He's finding it hard now cos of the pressure... but so's my pelvis. Hope I don't start feeling about hime like you do about your cat!

First stretchmarks? Lucky you! Hope they are small and not v dark - mine are many and purple and making me sad - I keep finding new ones all over my thighs, bum and hips but strangely not boobs and tummy. And I have been religious about moisturising almost from day 1 so I am sure it is genetic.

OP posts:
barbareebaa · 18/10/2008 18:34

They are hiding under my bump - they might have been there for a while and I just hadn't noticed them! So I started looking (not a good idea) and found a load on my thighs too!
Oh well!
Ooh well done you as well for stopping smoking! This is the longest I've ever done. It's got to help that you know what he's going through. Maybe he could get some gum or something? Might take the edge off those really nasty cravings..

LackaDAISYcal · 18/10/2008 19:05

would patches work for your DH rutho?

thankfully, I haven't gained any additional stretchmarks, although my existing ones are looking a little bit more livid.

My CS scar is worrying me though; it is looking very pink and is achey and tingly. I dread to think what's going on with the internal scar!

DD still being a clingy and mizzy little thing with a high temperature. Not sure how high as she will only sit still long enough for a swift reading off the forehead thermomoter; and she isn't eating or drinking . She is sitting next to me all prim and upright watching Strictly; she's very funny.

Completely agree about the tiredness just hitting you and also unsympathetic DH's - I have tried to explain over and over to mine just how hard it is being this pg but I might as well be saying 'blah blah blah' to him

We are having chilli and tacos with salsa, sour cream and cheese followed by (shop-bought) pear and blackcurrant crumble and custard - yum!

Lol at just finding stretchmarks - I have done that aswell. Thought I was doing really well until I looked in a mirror with my naked bump and saw them all underneath

barbareebaa · 18/10/2008 20:18

lacks Sorry your dd is feeling under the weather

Ceebee Nice pud!! Am about to stick a (shop bought) Blackcurrent and apple strudle in th'oven - a quid from sainsburgers - should've bought 2!!

Have just got wrong off dh for grassing him up on here

barbareebaa · 18/10/2008 20:23

Shouldn't have written that while dh is sitting next to me!

lol!!

Just to even things up I'm a moany old stick and he puts up with a lot!

LackaDAISYcal · 18/10/2008 20:43

to barbareeba's DH if he is still reading over her shoulder.

She doesn't usually moan about you, honest It's just at this stage in pregnancy it is very hard to do things and be normal, like.....walking and breathing.
