Obs I agree with pinkymink. It's not worth the worry. Can someone take you there?

ChocOrange05 · 17/10/2008 14:12

Obs not sure if I can add anything useful but I would try not to worry too much as that won't be good for you and baby and if you feel anything is wrong then go to the hospital - I strongly believe in mothers intuition about these things so if you think there is a reason to be concerned then there might be, remember the hospitals / MW's always err on the side of caution.

Good luck - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! x

LackaDAISYcal · 17/10/2008 15:28

obs, get yourself in for monitoring. Can't believe they would say something like that and then just leave it. As pump nurse, is she trained in obs/gynae even? perhaps she hasn't realised hoe much she has worried you?

At the very least call your consultant or MW and talk to someone.

ceebee74 · 17/10/2008 15:34

Obs - poor you If you are at all worried, then go to the hospital (but I am the worst person to advice this as I would sit at home and worry about all the practical issues). Is there anything you can do that you know will make the baby move? My baby rarely moves but the one thing that pretty much guarantees it to move is to lie in bed on one side so I am pretty much squishing the bump - this always gets it to shift.

Obs hope everything is OK and you are not worrying too much.
Choco I will kidnap Jordan for you, I already have to go for Donnie for my mate so another won't matter
Didn't get the AC/DC tickets but DH hasmanaged to find someone with a spare one so is a very very happy man tonight, we are having a chinese to celebrate!
My niece is in labour, she started at 5 this morning and went in around 2 as she was booked for an induction then - Just waiting for news now! I can't believe I am going to be a great Aunty at 28

LackaDAISYcal · 17/10/2008 18:02

you have obviously lowered the tone hana

Was just checking in to see if Obs had been back on. I hope she is OK.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/10/2008 18:05

Ooooh how exciting for your niece Ladybuzz

It'll be cool for the baby having such a young and spritely great Aunt; I remember all mine being not very spritely prnsioners when I was growing up!

phraedd · 17/10/2008 18:18

Are you within 15 miles of St Albans?

Is your baby due November or early December?

Would you like to hire a birth doula for free? (I will need to take a deposit which will be returned with your birth story)

Would you like a written birth story of your labour and birth?

I am a trainee birth doula and as part of my training, I need to attend 4 births. I have attended 2 and have (fantastic) written refs from these already and am now looking for my last 2 births.

Paula

misdee · 17/10/2008 18:25

phradd yes i am to all of those.

i am in welwyn garden

am due to have a home birth.

MonkeyMargot · 17/10/2008 18:32

Hana you are clearly having action, like obs. You clearly stunned everyone into silence by your admission!
Am assuming obs took heed and went to Kings, given she hasn't been online. Hope all is ok?

Hey ladies, a day without MN is truly like a day without sunshine. I think I got withdrawal symptoms earlier.

Obs, fingers crossed for you and baby - hoping you haven't posted for a while cos you're at the hospital getting checked out.

Coolcat, your sister, tcha. What a nerve. Never mind her, though, are you okay?

Hana, v jealous and don't do anything silly, now...

OMG Buzz - that's so cool! Don't feel weird about being a great aunt - my mate's little sister has a niece who is 2 years OLDER than her... But then my mate is the middle one of 11, so some confusion is inevitable.

Re presents, I mentioned this thread topic to DH and he said "But I get a baby and you have to do all that work - why should I get anything else?". He is SO sweet. Plus my present is going to be all the naughty food I haven't been able to eat so far. Bring on the roquefort and parma ham!

Okay, so medical update - I did not have a scan today in the scary machine! Slightly disappointed, but reason was that the consultant had a good ol' grope and said no need for the scan, everything is fine and dandy and I can go ahead with normal labour as I wanted to! Wahey!

Mind you, he could have been a bit less intrusive doing the internal. I think he left his watch up there. I loved the way he blocked off DH's view of proceedings with a curtain, then got a nurse in the room to be a chaperone, then did the internal, ow, then left the cubicle to let me put my knickers and leggings back on in private to preserve my modesty... He seemed a little conflicted.

Anyway, all good news, woo, and so I can have all the fun of waiting for the ol' waters to break, getting DH to drive at breakneck speed to the hosp etc, yay!

That was this morning, followed by a mega trip round town that nearly floored me BUT I now have ace pyjamas and can only recommend them to all: red pointelle jimjams on this page.

Back out to Meadowhall now as DH wants new glasses, go figure. I may have a sleep in the food court. Laters.

No news from Obs yet? I hope she is ok.

Ladybuzz how exciting, becoming an Aunite!

Bit worried about Lacks aunties, though, they were all prisoners?? Are you from one of those Families??

Hana get your mind out of the gutter

LackaDAISYcal · 17/10/2008 18:53

pmsl pinky...am typing single handed whilst reclining on my left hand side to encourage optimum foetal positioning!

great news from your hospital visit rutho, but ouch on the internal. I didn't think they liked doing internals these days though? and lol at "conflicted"

LackaDAISYcal · 17/10/2008 18:56

shall I text Obs? I have her number obviously

Who else has her number? dozy? chocolategal?

I am just using the pjs I got when I had DD, which are black and from Matalan

what are we planning on wearing to give birth? iirc with DS I was in a tshirt and a rather fetching pair of hospital issue disposable knickers that were like those stripey string dishcloths you used to get. At one point I felt the need to go all primal and get naked so took my t-shirt off to find that not two minutes later I had a hospital gown on! Which ellicited much complaint from me, but the MW insisted I kept it on

misdee · 17/10/2008 19:06

i did some boring shopping today.

big pants for after the birth (i wear boxer type knicker,s cant fit maternity pads in them sadly).

black towels/bath sheets. bargain at £4.49 from the next outlet store in the galleria. i figure i need new soft ones, and these wont show any marks lol.

some curtains for babies room. we ended up with charlie and lola ones from next outlet store again (£12.99 whooo)

and some funky new winter boots for me. this time from clarks outlet store, half price, were £70, down to £35.

usually i hate the galleria, as you hunt for stuff and usually full of cr*p. but was pretty successful today.

Also i have to apologuise to my secret stork recipitent. parcel is all ready to send out, but just hasnt made it to the PO yet. so so sorry!

Oblomov · 17/10/2008 19:12

I am here. Sorry for worrying you all. I couldn't face going to Kings. I rang labour ward at local hosptal,4 minutes away. Spoke to lovely sister.
She said try not to worry. And I can pop in at any time for CTG. But she said even that no guaranteee. Just watch for movements. monitor bloods sugars. It is veyr hard to spot placenta failure. Only scaning and monitoring of growth and blood tests and even that no guarantee.
So I have got pen adn papaer with me constantly. And after no movemnets at all today, I have had a tiny kick at 4.30:5.45pm and 6.45pm.
I will see how it goes overnight and weekend.

coolkat · 17/10/2008 19:16
