Hey Calico you can get the most gorgeous muligatwany soup from Tesco its made with chicken and potato and tastes really fresh and lovely - get a couple of pots in for when the craving strikes again because i too feel the need for curry type soupage

Spotty it wouldnt be so bad if the netting peeking out was ivory too but its not, its white and looks a wee bit silly i cant even make it ballerina length because its not that style of dress (plus its going to be bloody cold!)

mslucy · 22/10/2008 15:18

Calico - I did a fab curried butternut squash soup the other day, which was very easy (like everything I cook) and very good for you.

Just peel and chop up a butternut squash and fry in a bit of oil with a chopped up onion, some garlic, ginger, coriander and a bit of creamed coconut (or coconut milk). I used a wok to do this but any big pan is good.

Add as much thai curry paste as you fancy and cook until it's all soft and squidgy.

Chuck it in a blender then dilute with a bit of water/stock until it's the consistency you like. Simmer until you think it looks ready and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Can also use sweet potato (with my favourite spinach as an extra) or pumpkin.

Really nice and you can feel like a right smug cow when you eat it as it's super healthy.

(does make you fart tho, or maybe that's just me

Calico1 · 22/10/2008 15:30

thanks so much Mslucy - sounds yummy and probably worth the side effects.....

Might make some this eve as I bought a pumpkin the other day and was wondering what the hell to do with it.
Was thinking about pumpkin pie but soupy cravings have priority.

mslucy · 22/10/2008 15:38

pumpkin makes great soup.
another option is to roast it rather than fry it which brings out the sweetness.
make sure you add lots of herbs and spices as bland soup = boring soup.

BloodRedTulips · 22/10/2008 16:23

girls, i need to be held...... dd had her first ever haircut today

my poor baby doesn't have her baby hair attached to her anymore (although i have some in a bag ).

to be fair it was touching her bum when wet so needed to be done quite badly but it felt weird watching my friend chop it off..... it's still quite long though thank god, would have been devestated if it had been chopped short.

great to hear about tink and her lo..... hopefully baby has decided not to make a break for it anytime soon, would be great if they could come home.

mrsy · 22/10/2008 16:38

Seseme oil and seeds are really great for butternut sqaush/pumpkin soups. And I second roasting rather than frying.

munteria · 22/10/2008 16:47

Hello

Please may i join?

I am 37 years old and expecting my second baby (DC2?) due in Feb. DD will be 2 yrs 2 months. I live in Putney, South West London.

mslucy · 22/10/2008 16:52

mslucy · 22/10/2008 16:53

Hi there munteria.
I'm 38 and expecting no 2.
DS will be 3 years and 8 months in Feb.
I'm a Londoner too, but the other side.

MarkStretch · 22/10/2008 17:44

I have had the most stupid ridiculous day ever.

I am knackered, DH had me up at 5.45 looking for his stupid farking ID badge so he could go to work, I ache all over, the washing machine broke, my new manager at work FORCED me to get someone else to pick dd up from school in order for me to provide statistics within the hour which were then not needed, and I'm fat and I look stupid in all my clothes.

I am going to stuff my face with lasagne and garlic bread.

I am getting a serious booting from my unborn son.

I am GRUMPY.

mslucy · 22/10/2008 17:59

MS.
I had kicks last night that caused me PAIN.
they are very low down and it feels like he's wearing boots.

your day sounds crap.
lasagne and garlic bread sound good.

mrsy · 22/10/2008 18:20

Oh - MS - that sucks. I hope your new boss was very apologetic about unnecessarily delaying you...

And that you can go home early tomorrow.

rosieposey · 22/10/2008 18:44

Oh dear MS i too am getting my bladder stamped on by my unborn son so i can completely sympathise - i am depressed r e wedding dress situation and i look really pregnant now too (i was hoping to just look fat for my wedding) so there is no getting away with it in the church now Im off to eat roast dinner with loads of gravy and mint sauce because right now its the only comfort food that will do! I cant even eat sodding chocolate fudge cake

lardybump · 22/10/2008 19:14

evening everyone sorry for you bad days.....

Mrsy I have sent you a cat with my name because I can not find you on face book....

MS hope you enjoy your evening... Rosie you will look beautiful on your wedding day....

lardybump · 22/10/2008 19:20

I am litterally crying with laughter at that min min story....

mrsy · 22/10/2008 20:13

lardy, where do I access the cat messages?

mrsy · 22/10/2008 20:16

I haven't paid the £5 thing, so I don't think I can get cat messages.
I'm Lucie Yoxall if you want to facebook me...

chilledmama · 22/10/2008 20:21

Minmin story is brilliant...how have I never seen it before?????????????
I am now trying to work out who I can tell it to

swampster · 22/10/2008 20:33

I think you can get CATs if you haven't paid, you just can't send them.

swampster · 22/10/2008 20:34

I REALLY want a roomba. But DH points out you have to be able to see the floor for them to work .

herbgarden · 22/10/2008 20:38

MS I think you need to go climb under the duvet and hope for a better day tomorrow......

chilledmama · 22/10/2008 20:39

I have DSs man flu starting on me...I can feel that hot scratchy sensation in back of my nose and throat! SHoot me now!!!Q!!

thehouseofmirth · 22/10/2008 20:53

Evening all. Got back from MIL's on Monday but haven't been able to find time to actually read all posts and then type one of my own before now.

Rosie you'll look beautiful on your wedding day and assuming you aren't keeping it a secret isn't it better to look full of baby than pies?

Sorry for those of you having rubbish days. I'm full of cold but when you're a SAHM there's actually no point in being ill is there? I remember when I could take a day off work and stay in bed...

Munteria I'm 38 also expecting No 2 in Feb and I live in West Wimbledon so not far from you!

dinkystinky · 22/10/2008 21:20

Yay, laptop finally fixed so have home mumsnet access!

Welcome Munteria - hope your pregnancy is going well. When in Feb is your little one due (in theory)?

Markstretch - am very on your behalf at your meanie manager. I've had that done to me a few times and it absolutely stinks - I hope he/she realises what he put you through and feels awful about it. If not, I wish piles, varicose veins and hormonal hot flushes upon their house! Just think, only another couple of weeks until you can play the "6 months pregnant - you promised less work" card... Hope the comfort food hits the spot

Rosieposey - you will look gorgeous on your wedding day and totally radiant! Just make sure you wear the most lovely looking comfortable shoes you can on the day (they do exist honest) - maybe even get yourself a nice pedicure and foot massage before the big day to pamper your feet I know how stressful weddings can be - but your marrying your DP, the father of your little man, and it is going to be lovely that you look pregnant in your photos (hopefully you'll get a couple of really lovely ones of you DP bump and your girls together that you'll be able to put in your baby's album - you never really get a chance to get really nice photos like that normally when you are preggers!)

dinkystinky · 22/10/2008 21:21

P.s THOM - hope you recover from your cold soon. Is NO fun being ill when you dont get a break at all to feel sorry for yourself - especially when you cant take anything to make you feel semihuman again!
