chilledmama · 22/10/2008 21:33

is there a limit to number of posts we can make on a thread before we need to create new thread?????

chilledmama · 22/10/2008 21:45

have I scared everybody away with my lurgy or is it just bedtime????

TinkerBellesMum · 22/10/2008 22:21

Hey all, I've not caught up on the thread as I'm at my parents and this laptop is rather dodgy.

I'm still having contractions, been 3-4 an hour in the quiet times since Friday. But I'm not in labour, there's been no dilation the whole time although there is funneling. My own consultant is happy for me to be home and just go in next week for immunology antenatal clinic as normal. I really hope they stop soon as it is quite wearing! I'm past being worried about them (although I am of course) and they don't hurt that much but it's making me worn out. Seems the steroids have helped bring her weight back up to line which is good. Because she's had the full dose of steroids if I was to go into labour at anytime they wouldn't try to stop it.

It's been good being back with my baby, she's grown up so much in two weeks! She talks really well and I think she's bigger. She was a bit shy at first but relaxed and I think that with me staying here she will feel differently when I'm here in the morning. I showed her the pictures of FiFi (her baby name) and she was really excited, she ran up the stairs to show Mum and got upset when her dad put her to bed and wouldn't let her take them so he had to photocopy them!

Thank you all for your messages and positive thoughts, it's been great knowing that you are all here and thinking about me.

swampster · 22/10/2008 22:38

Great to see you back, out of hospital and with the little one still inside you.

Morning all - TBM - great to have you back!

Munteria - welcome to the group! If you're on facebook, we have a group, but it's hidden, and I'll need to delegate to one of my esteemed prefects to invite you, as I'm gonna be rushed off my feet today - MS - I think I'm gonna catch your crappy-boss-itis today !

MarkStretch · 23/10/2008 09:12

Morning.

I am shocked at how knackered I am at the moment. It's like the first 12 weeks again when I fell asleep face down on my laptop. Apparently ds doubles in size in the next 4 weeks so maybe that's doing it. Got a BP check at the GP's today so good job I have calmed down from my rage yesterday. How's yours now spotty?

I have a butternut squash learing at me from the kitchen shelf with it's disturbing phallic shape.

I may have to make it into soup. That recipe sounds lovely.

MarkStretch · 23/10/2008 09:13

Oh and meant to say welcome back TBM- I'm glad the baby glue worked and she's still in there growing away!

MamaGoose · 23/10/2008 09:52

TBM - Glad you are back with us!

mumoverseas · 23/10/2008 10:11

morning all, SOOOOOOOO glad to see you are ok TBM and welcome Munteria.
DH and I had a horrible night last night. It was our Friday (stupid weekends in saudi) so we decided to go to the local shopping centre (45 mins away!) to buy the first blue outfit for our just confirmed boy. Don't really know what happened as it happened so quickly but when driving down the motorway sliproad think we hit a patch of oil and the car just spun around several times and we ploughed into the metal barrier head on at about 30 mph. It was just horrendous, we could see it happenening and not do anything. My gut instinct (I guess as any mum would) was to turn towards the back and try to grab my DD aged 2 who was sitting behind DH in her car seat (thank god we use them, none of the saudis out here do and its quite common to see some nutter saudi driving down the road with a baby or toddler on his lap or on the dashboard) Anway, sorry, rambling! when we hit the metal barrier I was still turning round so suffered some seat belt injuries to back and stomach. Thank god DD (and DH) ok although we had an awful sleepless night as I couldn't feel the baby moving so went to the medial centre this morning and thank god they heard his heartbeat. Don't think I've cried so much in a very long time! Totally horrid time not helped by all the bullshit out here which means you can't move the car until the police have arrived which took hours and DH had to then go to the police station twice and has to go back again saturday. One positive was that a saudi from his office drove past and saw and came back and drove me home and then went to the police station with DH which was lucky as his arabic is limited to thank you and sod off! Anyway, I'm on bed rest now for a few days which isn't a bad thing. Another positive thing is I think this was our third car crash on this thread this week so hopefully thats the last! Sorry to ramble, easier to 'get it out' on here than talk to friends as when I try to talk about it I start crying as I really thought we were going through the barrier which would have meant a long drop!
Hope everyone has a good (and safe!) day

spottyshoes · 23/10/2008 10:27

OMG MOS What a horrible thing to have happened it must have been really frightening for you! Thank god you're all alright! I think I missed the other 2 crashes on the thread but hope everyone else is ok too? Congratulations on having confirmed a DS btw.

BP is fine now MS - It is obviously work crap as after a day off it has come back down to normal . I think my friend's lovely hot chocolate and tiffin cake helped alot too

dinkystinky · 23/10/2008 10:47

Welcome back TBM - still sending lots of grow nicely and stay put vibes to Fifi! Must be a relief to be out of hospital and back in home (ish) territory.

MOS - so sorry to hear about your awful car crash. Glad you DH and DD are ok - and that the little one inside is ok too. Try to relax and forget the horrid experience you've been through (reliving it isnt going to help you) - we're here if you need to talk about it to get it out of your system though.

nkweto · 23/10/2008 10:56

TBM, so very glad to hear you are doing well and back with your family, we have all been thinking of you.

MOS.. how terrible ! I hope you feel better..just can't imagine how scary that was..

Havent managed to catch up with the rest of the thread.. save the min min story.. which did make me laugh till i cried...

hope everyone else is doing well.. and welcome Munteria !

rosieposey · 23/10/2008 11:25

Oh MOS what a scary thing to happen! Poor you - so glad that you are and yours are all ok though, tripped over my youngest (who was behind me last night on the floor looking for something) and hurt myself and my back too but def not as scary as a car crash hope you are ok today.
Tink wb glad your lo is sticky at the moment and long may that continue!
Your all right im sure about looking fine on wedding day im sure they will be lovely photos and it'll be cute to tell Milo that that obvious tummy in mummy and daddys wedding photos is him Just need to sort out that dress now! Did have a bit of a giggle though at house of mirth saying that wouldnt i rather look full of baby than full of pies well one sort of begats the other lol - Dinky im going to book that pedicure, did find some absolutely flat shoes from bhs all ivory with pretty embroidery and ballerina style so they will do just fine, no way i could do heels as centre of balance is just wrong now!
Welcome Munteria and congrats

mumoverseas · 23/10/2008 11:59

thanks everyone for your kind comments. I'm now parked on the sofa and DH has taken DD out to a halloween party (I know its early!) we were supposed to go to on another compound. He was lucky to be able to borrow a friends car as ours is well and truly broken! No doubt he will use this as an excuse to get the new one he wanted! I'm just glad we did the sensible thing when DD was born 2 years ago and got a big 'safe' car, a dodge durango as I think if we'd had our old car we might not have got off as lightly. A bit sad we didn't make it to shops to buy new baby things, particularly as when I was driven home by his saudi friend we passed the mall and I saw huge 50% off signs at Next and Debenhams! Bugger! Just realised almost end of October and I have lots of CPD to do to keep my practicing certificate (you lawyers out there will understand this!) so doing lots of study online!
Rosieposie, hope your back is ok, flat shoes best anyway as high heels can cause further back problems. when is the big day?
spottyshoes, what is tiffin cake? I've hearsd of it but no idea what it is?
BTW, think we must be almost full on this thread, any thoughts for name of new one?

dinkystinky · 23/10/2008 12:19

I think you can have up to 1000 messages on a thread before you have to open another one - so we've got abit of time(but not much) to think up a new title...

Hmm, any bright suggestions anyone?

mrsy · 23/10/2008 12:43

mumoverseas - glad to hear you're all okay - how scary!

I think tifin cake is like rocky road, (biscuit and cherries in chocolate and then set in fridge, not baked in oven) is that correct?

Idea for new title: - Due Fab Feb 2009: bigger and better than ever!

Now - back to my shitty day - boohoo!

herbgarden · 23/10/2008 13:32

Morning all.....(or afternoon now)

Welcome back tink and good news that fifi is still being cooked by her mummy and hope the whole experience hasn't thoroughly exhausted you. Bet you were glad to see Tink again. Hope she's coping ok with all the drama.

MO - how terrifying for you . Don't try to think too much about what could have happened, - but I know it's tempting. Just glad you're all ok. Enjoy the rest. Lucky you and the CPD - I ended up having to go on a really boring course right near the end of the CPD year which was on one of my "days in" the office and it was the only relevant thing available - to make matters worse I then had to give a talk on the damn thing !!....talk about torture.

I'll leave the clever title to the rest of you....I'm easy !

Dreading the clocks going back on Sat night/Sunday morning- we're going through a phase with DS (2.3years) where he wakes a couple of times and then decides that 5.20am is a good time to start the day. He still has a little snooze in the day and I've been trying to cut it out to see if that helps but he's then knackered and falls asleep at about 4pm on the sofa !!.....I'm finding the sleep deprivation and pg do not mix well. I can see some of the rest of you suffering with this too !....I'd go to bed early but he seems to be waking for a quick "cuggle" at 10.30pm.....DH was V.grumpy this morning..

spottyshoes · 23/10/2008 13:50

Judging by my sneezing fit just now some 'sneezy peezy lemon squeezy' pelvic floor reference may be fitting

Yes tiffin is chocolate, biscuit, chocolate, fruit, chocolate....you get the drift

herbgarden · 23/10/2008 13:52

I love tiffin - I used to use butter, melted choc, broken biscuits, raisins and I think some golden syrup to bind it all up and then add melted choc to the top....yum yum. I'm sure there are lots of variations to the theme.

spottyshoes · 23/10/2008 14:05

I think thats what my friend does and its lurrrvly. She foolishly gave me a box to take home - I'm on my 3rd piece today

Calico1 · 23/10/2008 14:42

Just walked over the shop to post some letters and thought I'd buy some chocolate whilst I was there (of course). My poor brain is now so mushed that I came back with the chololate but also the letters too.......can't manage more than one thought at a time anymore - arrrggghh
