Christmas Eve - whooop whooop! Cant bloomin wait! but I'm back P/T as of Monday so only 2 days a week to contend with until then

Mmmmmm I smell Lamb Balti - my dutiful hubby must be back

MarkStretch · 20/10/2008 20:23

Ah poor spotty. What was your bp like? The hardest thing is trying not to stress as that outs your bp up but yet you worry because your bp is high!

Everytime DH takes mine I'm obsessively scanning his face for clues on whether it's good or bad to the point where I can't take it anymore and start shrieking 'WHAT IS IT? WHAT IS IT?!'

Sometimes he does this face just to annoy me.

chilledmama · 20/10/2008 20:27

mrsy - cord stump not issue at all for us as my MW didn't use an NHS clamp thingy she used a cord band which is like a clever elastic band...does the same job but no massive clamp sticking out...NHS doesn't use it because unit price is £1 rather than 5p for clamp.
Teatree oil has natural antibacterial properties as well as smelling nice. Benefit is that, if you have inquisitive child they are likely to stick their hansd in...if you use nappysan style stuff thats more chemicals to be on them and (I think) to use that style of chemical youhave to wet pale. You can use teatree and still drypale. You can get a 100ml bottle for £14 from Babykind and that will last you 12+months.

MarkStretch · 20/10/2008 20:29

Laidback, thanks for the links but unfortunately none of those are anywhere near me. I be ruuuural you see.

Maybe I shoud start stalking women in baby changing rooms, springing out on them and asking if I can inspect their baby's under garments?

chilledmama · 20/10/2008 20:32

My DS has been in bed since 1900 and is still awake...coughing, spluttering and talking to all his teddies, playing with music box but generally quite happy
Hope he goes to sleep soon otherwise he'll have bags under his eyes in the morning and thats just wrong for a toddler!!!

spottyshoes · 20/10/2008 20:35

Well I dont know if it is particularly high to anyone else but it was 178/89. Like you said I then stressed and it shot up but I've been good and sat down for an hour and it's come back down to that again. I've been running at about 110/60 usually. Last pg they sent me to hospital for checks when it was 165/92.

herbgarden · 20/10/2008 20:36

sorry 'bout your high bp spotty...not good eh. Enjoy the balti. I finish on xmas eve too

Baby has been soooo active today and I'm hoping it'll calm down by bedtime or else I'm not going to be getting much sleep

herbgarden · 20/10/2008 20:39

CM my ds had bags under his eyes this morning, I felt really bad ! But he's been going through a phase of waking for an hour or so at about 10.30 (he's 2.3 months) and yelling for a "cuggle". After I've been in for the fourth time after he wakes and calmed him down, I leave him so sometimes he's still awake for a while. Me thinks it's all caught up with him.....

spottyshoes · 20/10/2008 20:39

MS - try a nappy trial pack from ebay. They come with a one wrap, prefold and liners so you can try before you buy.

Chilledmama I hope your DS sleeps soon and gets better - although I do wish mine was so chirpy when he had a cold

laidbackinengland · 20/10/2008 20:40

MS - you be anywhere near norwich ?

You can buy in person from this lady...

chilledmama · 20/10/2008 20:40

i'm so looking forward to Maternity Leave. I start on 23 Jan but my target is Christmas Leave (2 weeks) then I'll only have 3 weeks to do when I go back

chilledmama · 20/10/2008 20:42

OK, was it my imagination or did all the emoticons have witches hats on earlier?????

chilledmama · 20/10/2008 20:44

spotty - its his 1st bout of ManFlu

laidbackinengland · 20/10/2008 20:45

Doh ! I finish xmas eve, not new years eve . Going slowly mad.

spottyshoes · 20/10/2008 20:45

Looks like Christmas and New Year are going to be twice as great for all of us this year

Well if you overlook the fact some of us will be like fat swollen turkeys sitting in the corner with a Virgin Mary!

spottyshoes · 20/10/2008 20:47

Lol see what I did there....Christmas....Virgin Mary!!!???

chilledmama · 20/10/2008 20:48

bugger that...I'll be in the corner with a Kir Royal!!!

spottyshoes · 20/10/2008 20:49

Bless him CM I'm sure it wont be his last

spottyshoes · 20/10/2008 20:50

Now THAT sounds like a plan!

spottyshoes · 20/10/2008 20:53

Right I'm off to chill - bath and early night. Anything to avoid the cakes downstairs calling me! Nice talking to y'all again - will make a concerted effort to kick hubs off the PC more often until my laptop is fixed

Night x

MarkStretch · 20/10/2008 21:10

Oooh laidback thank you, I am definitely going to contact them

herbgarden · 20/10/2008 21:11

Laptop belongs to ME in this house !!.....DH luckily has no interest in it when he gets home....me on the other hand ....am glued to it !...

I'm off to bed too. DH is watching Bruce Parry on Amazon. I have headache lurking but really want to try to finish my book - anyone read Missing by Susan Lewis ?- my Mum gave it me when we went on hols and I picked it up and then started something else - it's a tad pedestrian in parts but on the other hand can't put it down now as I want to know what happened!
Byeee....

chilledmama · 20/10/2008 21:19

early night is what I should do too but am too lazy to get off my arse and make that happen!!

mrsy · 20/10/2008 21:23

chilledmama - the emoticons were witchy before - madness! sorry about the little man - is he asleep yet? so with the tea tree oil, do you sprinkle just a smidge on each nappy?

spotty - hope you enjoyed the balti - do you have any deep breathing techniques or 'happy places' to go when you feel stressed? and i don't think that that any of us qualify for a virgin mary!!!

marckstretch we just ordered one each of the ones we thought we might like and then you can either sell them on or send them back...

chilledmama · 20/10/2008 21:27

mrsy - just put a few drops in bottom of bucket with clean mesh.
sounds like he's asleep now...just a crapy cough really but he's feeling sorry for himself which translates to 'mummy mummy mummy'which I have to admit does has have its nice side too
