Mildwesthere is a thread that will probably answer your questions about what babies should wear

Oh I want a friend/relative to be expecting a baby so I can order another blanket from Pinky - they are just so lovely that I want to peruse and choose another one

Does anyone else log on to MN now half expecting a birth announcement?? I do - as Dozy says, one must be very imminent surely?

Right, off for a nap/chocolate whilst DS is asleep - have just been to a soft play area and am knackered!

Pinkyminkee · 13/10/2008 13:21

Have you heard some news on the baby front, DM. spill, please!!

barbareebaa · 13/10/2008 13:24

morning - oo - afternoon!
who is this cherie lady? Everyone seems very taken with her!!

Merry Sorry about the earache - you're not having a very easy time of it are you?
vbab sorry about your restless night and your poor ds/ dh
hanaflower so jealous of your trip to the seaside and apple place! I larve apple puddings of all varieties, heaven

Nowt much happening here. Think the baby's changed position - getting kicked near my ribs so maybe he's not breech anymore! Will find out on Wednesday. Am not too sick of being pregnant but am sooooooooooo looking forward to meeting him but trying to make the most of time with dh at same time.

Right. Need to make a start on this large bar of Dairy milk

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 13:41

Dozy the maxi cosi car seat comes with a raincover that slips over so that may solve the non-waterproof snuggle dilemma? Actually am not sure if it does come with it as standard anymore, mine did (in 2006) but they seem to be sold separately nowadays... (expect other brands also have similar accessory?).

How interesting Dozy/Ceebee!! But I hope it isn't me... yet!

LadyBuzz · 13/10/2008 13:46

Dozy funny you should say that a MW friend of mine just informed me that if the baby is still transverse on Wed they might ask me to go in on Thur as I will be 37 wks by then for an elcs wasn't expecting that apparently its not good to go into labour so they would do it sooner rather than risk anything happening!
I really want a baby snuggle but I am waiting to see what colour I will need!

Oblomov · 13/10/2008 13:50

Are we at the 'expecting tons of birth announcememnts' stage, then?
oh god, oh god. How exciting.
I thought this bit would never come.

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 14:03

Ooooh LadyBuzz sounds like you may not need to wait too much longer then...! How exciting!!

Dozymare · 13/10/2008 14:05

Oh ladybuzz how very exciting - are oyu ready for that just in case??!

suiledonn · 13/10/2008 14:57

Hi everyone, you all sound in good form after the weekend. My day just improved a lot - the postman just arrived with presents for me from my younger sisters. They sent me a Burt's Bees skincare pack and shower pack for my hospital bag. It was my birthday last week but we usually don't do presents so it was a complete surprise.

I would love to be the one making a birth announcement this week. I am just so fed up. I have been having pains on and off - not contractions but a lot of pressure in the right direction IYKWIM. As I think I mentioned before all the midwife's and consultants talk about a very fast labour is making me nervous and I am terrified something will happen when I am on my own with dd.

Baby Clothes I think outfits can look very cute but I agree with keeping a baby comfy for the first few months. I hate when the clothes bunch up around them - so awkward and uncomfortable looking. DD had loads of lovely romper suits from Next as she was a summer baby and then some lovely soft fleecy dungarees with long sleeve body suits when the weather got colder.

Pinkali37 · 13/10/2008 14:58

No one mention Scrabble to me!!!! I have been beaten by Chocorange, Monkey and Ladybuzz!!!!!!!!!!!! Pinkali thinking she needs to think quicker

ceebee74 · 13/10/2008 15:06

pinkali have realised that everyone else on this thread is way out of my league when it comes to Scrabble - so far I am being beaten by Obs and Ladybuzz - maybe you and me would be a good match??

ladybuzz how exciting for you- ooh you could be our second baby - how do you feel about going in on Thursday?

Barbs I only know of one TV programme that Cherie Lunghi was on and that was the Manageress (about a female football manger) but I am totally showing my age as it was years ago (maybe early 90's?) and you young whippersnappers wouldn't remember it anyway

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 15:11

What a lovely surprise Suiledonn! Burts bees stuff is lovely.

I am also worried that it will all kick off when I am with DS. Calming thoughts tho, it will be fine... Is your DH or someone else able to be on nearby standby for you?

If it is any consolation Pinkali you can play me anytime and be GUARANTEED to thrash me!! Not my strong point at all!

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 15:14

She was is also the 'madam' in Billie Piper's Secret Diary of a Call Girl series. And she was in those naff Kenco ads.

ceebee74 · 13/10/2008 15:19

Sparks/Pinkali maybe we should have a 'losers' tournament amongst ourselves I think we need to be Facebook 'friends' first though - any clues on how to find you? Are you friends with anyone else on this thread?

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 15:23

Haha yes and the winner gets the lowest score! THEN I'd beat you! Am not on Facebook tho will investigate...

misdee · 13/10/2008 15:27

afternoon ladies. i am absolutly shattered again, and have been asleep all afternoon. woke up several times last night with leg cramps. i'd forgotton how joyful those feel in the dead of night.

baby clothes, well i have heaps of nightdresses, vests and sleepsuits, cardys etc for daily wear for bubs. but also have quite a few items of actual clothes. mainly all been passed down from my older girls, or from my neices. this will be girl baby #8 in our family, so loads of stuff has been passed around. i still have a couple of dd1 t-shirts from when she was a baby, and they will be almost 9years old when this one arrives. and they are still in good condition, considering the age and how many kids they have clothed!

i was sorting out the baby drawers yesterday. have found the nappies, wipes etc now. and will be re-checking my emergenmcy hospital bag, in case home birth doesnt happen for any reason. I see the midwife again this week, one week early as she is off on hols next week. will be 35 weeks.

is anyone else getting excited and scared at the same time?

MonkeyMargot · 13/10/2008 15:30

Can I ask a daft question please?
My moses basket arrived from John Lewis, and it comes with a mattress that is very "waterproof" and doesn't feel soft at all like the ones you can buy seperately. Will it be OK, or should I fork out the £12 on the one with a fabric washable cover?

pinkali, come play scrabble with me. I am rubbish. But proud to be.
And don't you know nuffink
Don't go playing with that MonkeyM woman. She is eVIL - EVILE, I tell you

Talking of which. MonkeyM, re the moses basket. No, please don't bother. I know EXACTLY what you mean. It looks and fels so flimsy, hard, unforgiving. But really it is totally fine. I know, becaude I remmeber thinking exactly ythe same thing, when we had ours for ds. But trust me, a fitted sheet cover thingy over the mattress, it will be fine.

Oblomov · 13/10/2008 15:41

Atleast Misdee has found all the baby stuff. She had ..... misplaced it the other day. ha ha.

How is your new home Misdee ? Settling in ?

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 15:42

Ok Ceebee / Pinkali I am re-registered so fully functioning mbr of facebook. What now??

Heartmum2Jamie · 13/10/2008 15:42

Margot, for how long a baby ususally is in a moses basket, I wouldn't bother shelling out for another matteress when it comes with one. I have 2 baskets ( one was from freecycle and practically brand new), one has a foam matteress, which I worry about sick soaking into and the other has a waterproof matteress, which I worry about sick pooling on top of, so I can't win, lol! I just put a couple of sheets on if I am worried, that way it is easy to strip off and makes it softer when on the waterproof matteress.

Misdee: ME, ME, ME!!! I am really excited and a tad bit scared. Thankfully I am in the "I feel pretty good" camp, so am in no hurry to get baby out, but I am really longing to meet my little man now. I want to see his face, count his little fingers and toes, kiss his little button nose and drink in that lovely baby smell. Plus, I actually can't wait to having a little snuffling baby by my side again. God, I have missed all that! Hmmmm, actually, stick a fork in me, I' done, I want my little guy NOW!!!

Oblomov · 13/10/2008 15:48

Sparkle, first you need to join the Nov thread on facebook - you need either ChocO, or Dozy or one of the 'seniors' to invite you.

Or give us a clue and we can become friends. Then play.

misdee · 13/10/2008 15:50

lol obs, i blame the removal men. they ognored the big black bold writing stating 'baby items bedroom 3, near door please!' and hid them in variuous rooms. nah, they were a great team of removal men, just i can never find stuff when we move house.

HM2J, i just want to know if dd4 will have as much hair as my other three dd's. they all came out with big black mops of hair. even though dd1 hair was much finer than the other two, she still had a fair bit. (might be one hairy pic in my profile of dd2 or dd3). i want to know who this one looks like, if anyone at all. as although my girls look similar, neither is anything like the other iyswim.

Oblomov · 13/10/2008 15:57

Misdee, ds was the same. Loads of black spivy hair. And seing as dh and I are quite light, this was a shock.
