Ruthosaurus, someone did post a link to an adult bodysuit. man it was so funny. Can't remember who/when that was now.
AND it was me, who asked about bf tops, to go under wrap dresses. Have my eye on mothercare ones.

Oblomov · 13/10/2008 11:19

James Jordan HAS never danced as sensitively/beautifully with his wife Orla, as he did with cherie. I agree with Arlene on that one.
Sorry. Just saying.

ruthosaurus · 13/10/2008 11:22

Just been walloped by really horrible pain all down one side - I thought I was going to throw up and it made me cry (at work - not great). I think it was indigestion but OW.

Hana, I've got the Maxi-cosi cabriofix in black/grey (officially called "penguin" )and it is a piece of cake to fit even without a base, no? I know what you mean about the back-to-front movement but I think it's because it has that "rocking" movement when you put it on a flat surface, like a cradle. I know there is a right way to do it but I can't describe it - I need pictures.

We got the lady in John Lewis to show us how...

Hi all
Adult sleepsuits.. I remember a friend sending me an ebay link once. Don't ask me to look because I am of a sensitive dispostion and that kind of thing gives me the heebegeegies.
Baby clothes. I use nightites/bundlers call them what you will in the house and soft pants and tops for out and about, that way if you have a vom you only chnage a top and if you have a leaky poo you only change a bottom. I get very fed up of getting to the end of fastening a sleepsuit to find you have poppers left over but that's just me. Little footie pants are fab.

hana you can go to halfords or jlewis and theywill give you a fitting demo. The best tip I hae is that you pull the seatbelt much tighter than you think you should.

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 11:53

Hana/Rutho I also have a maxi cosi car seat and never had any probs fitting it with seatbelt alone either. It seemed pretty sturdy and I found that if I lifted the feet end up slightly it didn't seem likely to tip up if worst happened? Does that make sense, I don't mean have it really high up against seat just slightly... It DID however wobble too much for my liking in my mum's car but that has leather seats & just didn't seem compatible with the car.

You can also pull the handle right back to steady it on flat surfaces.

I like the seat so much I am considering buying another and I also love the magic rose fabric. Also like skydiver but perhaps more boyish...

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 11:58

Re: the cabriofix, has anyone bought the footmuff that does with it too? Can't decide whether that would be treading into realms of "completely unnecessary" or not (probably)!! My thinking is this one IS a winter baby but then again it is about £30!!

Pinkyminkee · 13/10/2008 12:03

sparkle I toyed with the idea but ended up getting a babysnuggle as they had some on sale online and I could use it in the carrycot too. I thouight it would be handy for picking baby up for a quick bfeed in the playpark etc.

Ooh a baby snuggle, will have a look for one of those! Had a similar thing for DS in the Maclaren buggy (if it is what I am thinking of) and it was great...

ruthosaurus · 13/10/2008 12:11

I've just got the Bugaboo bee babynest (try saying that with your teeth out) but I'm using a blanket with the car seat.

How cute are the car seats, though? I was carrying mine round the house yesterday, trying to get used to the idea of having one with an actual baby in it...

three children plus a month supermarkets shop means we will use the car seat when we go to the supermarket, on the trolley, but otherwise we use the cocoon off the P&T (very much like the baby nest, Rutho) or the carry cot, or the sling.

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 12:27

Found the baby snuggle on a website but it only comes in 'flavour specific' colours so will have to wait until baby is here before I endulge myself!!! Just know my mum will say "I could MAKE that", maybe she could....??!!

I used a blanket last time but DS kept kicking it off! Do have array of pram suits to chose from this time tho... Esp if it is a boy.

Pinkyminkee · 13/10/2008 12:31

They would be quite simple to make, I think, but I got mine half price, so decided to just get one, but yes mine is pink so may have to go pruple if the sonographer was wrong!!

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 12:35

I second that Rutho car seats are REALLY heavy with growing babies in tow, I carried mine once from car into local school for a mum&baby meet up when DS was 6 weeks and never again. Esp the maxi-cosi as it is heavy on its own.

Physio at shape up class I went to also said apart from back probs it is not so good on the pelvic floor! House to car and back is all I will be doing (very short walk to driveway!).

Oblomov · 13/10/2008 12:37

Agree, no car seat I have ever lifted is light. And put baby in one. Lets all hope we have .... say... healthy 7 lb'ers. Man you will struggle to carry baby from car to house, from car to supermarket. Believe me.

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 12:39

Haha Pinky, hope you don't have to do that! The pink one is the nicer of the two IMO but the stripy blue matches the bigger one I got for DS buggy. It was so easy to use/clean will definately use it again no matter what flavour is.. Just put on a pink hat or something if it is a girl!

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 12:49

I once saw a new mother carry twins in 2 car seats! Can only think they must have weighed very little and she surely couldn't have continued that for very long! End up with arms like Mr Tickle...

Oblomov · 13/10/2008 12:53

LOL At Mr Tickle arms.

Dozymare · 13/10/2008 13:00

oh cripes - I had forgotten how heavy a baby in a carseat is!!! Got al that to look forward to!!!! Can someone please, please enlighten me on buggy Snuggles - they are gorgeous to look at, but as they are fleece I presume not waterproof, so how do you get around that one??!!!

Pinkyminkee · 13/10/2008 13:05

I think you would need Mr Tickle arms as car setas are also a very strange shape to carry. I can never carry it without it banging into me.

I've got the grren sheep buggysnuggle on my P&T (which is green), and it has been fab. It has a black teflon coated outer side which has come in very useful.

There is of course also a lady on here who makes very nice blankets!

Pinkyminkee · 13/10/2008 13:07

I must excuse my typing. Can't believe I used to write education resource material. But then I did have a proof reader

Dozymare · 13/10/2008 13:13

yes WHO is it who makes the gorgeous baby blankets and mussies ...

BTW, my BF is expecting in March, and as soon as we know what she is having, I shall be ordered a blanket for her PFB!

I have a feeling someone is going to have their baby/babies this week you know....

MonkeyMargot · 13/10/2008 13:20

Dozy It won't be me giving birth this week. MW just came to do home visit. Good news is that baby is head down with back to my tummy. But nowhere near fully engaged so I've got a bit of time yet. Phew!
I can't WAIT to order my pinky blanket once I know the flavour.
