Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

Will be thinking of you Tee All this waiting is just horrid

Ineedmorechocolate - like the new name I feel like that now. No choc in the house, but there is some Ben and Jerry's ice cream - hmmm that's lunch sorted I'm allowing myself to eat naughty things because I'm on hols for a week from tomorrow - back on the wagon then

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 05/11/2008 10:13

Oooo... Ben and Jerry's, now that's an idea.... my favourite flavour's Phish Food, I think I might ask DH to pick some up on the way home.... I've put on 5 pounds already and I've definitely got a little bump. Or maybe it's chocolate and Phish Food

Morning all

tee sorry your appointment wasn't as good as you hoped, my first scan all they saw was an empty sac which caused worry, but everything turned out ok, I'm sure you'll be fine!

Had my booking appointment yesterday, MW was very nice, but had to take 3 tubes of blood for testing which wasn't nice. MW trying to get me to give birth in the local community midwife unit which I would like but as there is no doctor I would be fearful of something happening.

Had another scan this morning and it was great measuring at 7+4 it looks like a big cashew nut but with a very fast heartbeat it was wonderful to see that after the worry i've had over the past couple of weeks! I got a photo of the scan too, the first for a wee photo album.

As for symptoms my nausia (excuse spelling) has came back but no sickness yet.

Hope everyone is well!

ermintrude13 · 05/11/2008 11:39

Glad your bkg appt went well flynn.
My parents are doctors and, much as I love them, I knew as soon as I was pregnant with DC1 that I intended to keep docs away from me unless I really needed them. Had DD at a birth unit run by midwives, had DS at home, both v straightforward. If you're not ill and the babe is head-down and all progressing normally there is really no need for medics. Also, birth centres have v good links to hospitals in the event there is a complication.

HOWEVER - if you're at all anxious about the lack of medics then you must aim to give birth wherever you will feel most relaxed and comfortable, of course. I would have felt nervous about giving birth in hospital! And now I'm pregnant at 41 I have to see the consultant at least once - boo!

Tee2072 · 05/11/2008 11:40

Thanks everyone. I'm trying to take a fatalistic attitude. If there is nothing in the sack, I will deal with it. But the OB was really impressed with how perfect the sack was, and there was definitely a little teeny flutter on the screen, just way to small to measure!

So, here's hoping!

And at least Obama won last night!

Hi Ladies and bumps. My stomach is deffinately bigger!I put on 1 and half kg, which is not that much but could just about do up my jeans!!
My sense of smell has gone rampant too..Have to change scoury sponge in a kitcen twice a day and can smell washing up liquid on glasses if they havent been rinsed properly.Still, its better than a horible taste in my mouth that I couldnt get rid of weeks that I had with DD.(like Iw been chewing on a raw steak!and Im vegetarian!!yuk!)
With DD I wanted to give birth in a hospital, her being my first I just felt safer that way. This time, provided it all goes well, Im thinking of having a home birth. These days they insist you stay at home untill you ready to pop.We are not far away from the hospital so if had to I could get there in no time.
See what is awailable and then how you feel about it.
Welcome all newcomers!

daisy5 · 05/11/2008 14:01

tee - I guess that is why they are sometimes hesitant to do early scans because it sometimes causes more (unnecessary) worry than comfort. A lot can change in a week. My first dd was two weeks younger than my dates - I still can't figure out why. All the best for scan no. 2.

nemo - do love the new name. How do you change your name? I think there are a few too many daisies and am considering a new flower! Or maybe a vegetable - as should be eating more of them than I am - I am a carb monster at the moment!!!

salet - hope you got some more help re:hospitals. ermintrude bad doctor who doesn't at least mention briefly your options before sending you off to get a midwives appointment. Mine was quite good and gave me a quick rundown of the pros and cons (one midwife led unit vs a large teaching hospital).

ttcnumberthree - oh no! ouch! poor you! that's just the sort of thing I would do.

flynn - has the horrible flu gone?

As for me - I am a complete wreck. Miscarriage sure does make the next pregnancy hard - I keep imagining the worst. I felt nothing yesterday and wasn't at all tired, so began to imagine it was all over and had to make an international call to my Dad and shed the odd tear. Then thankfully today back to feeling very pregnant. I never thought I would be so grateful for the headache and the growth pains, even if it is like waking up with a hangover every day for two months. Groundhog Day but reassuring.

daisy5 · 05/11/2008 14:02

Oops I meant to say 'ermintrude is right - what a bad doctor not to say a word about hospitals or midwife appts.

flynn1984 · 05/11/2008 14:07

Hi Daisy nope horrible flu still here poss getting worse as I've not taken a couple of days to recover at home
my scan today certainly cheered me up tho

daisy5 · 05/11/2008 14:21

I bet it's a very beautiful/handsome cashew nut flynn.
Nice to see that it's so active - I used to imagine the womb was a bit like a home gym!!!

GabiS · 05/11/2008 17:17

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 05/11/2008 18:24

Hi Gabis nice to hear from you. Your due date is the day before mine, and it sounds like we suffering the same symptoms.... nauseous and huge tummy.... Hope you begin to feel better soon xx

Tee2072 · 06/11/2008 10:27

Morning all.

Me being bad right now. About to start an all day board meeting, and here I am, on my wireless, posting here, while eating half a cup of REAL coffee with milk and a scone!

My OB would kill me...

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 06/11/2008 10:36

I've been stuffing my face all morning Tee... if you can stomach real coffee (the only thing I've gone 'off' and I'm gutted) then go for it! An all-day board meeting sounds hell on earth to me. Do what you got to do to get through it all, I say!

Up since 4.30am this morning with bloody insomnia again.....grr.....

LittleSarah · 06/11/2008 12:20

Hello

Tee - so sorry about your scan, but you are only about 6 and half weeks? Hopefully all will be fine!

Daisy5 - I know what you mean about pregnancies after miscarriage... awful!

However, I did have a good scan yesterday. Baby measuring at 9+3 as it should be. Gone from 1.1cm two weeks ago to 2.6cm yesterday. Heartbeat seen again and also saw the cord. Got a wee photo too but not a good one, pretty much a blob!

I'm so wishing I could spend my days on the sofa...

chocciedooby · 06/11/2008 12:42

Hi Ladies.
Glad to hear your scan went well littlesarah
Welcome GabiS
Poor Flynn still suffering from that awful flu. Really feel for you.
I am 8 weeks today
I have tried so hard not to eat too much unhealthy stuff as I don't want to end up like the beached whale that I was the 1st time. Unfortunately the nausea has taken over and I can't help myself. I am currently munching my way though a huge bag of Sour Cream and Jalapeno crunchy combo mix . I feel so much better I am already finding my jeans uncomfortable and reckon I have gained about 3lbs.oops.

Tee2072 · 06/11/2008 13:07

Yawn So glad we have wireless in this board room. this is why I sit with my back to the wall while i am taking minutes. I type like crazy, they assume I am taking minutes, and I'm posting on Mumsnet!!

LittleSarah great about your scan!

Ineedmorechocolatenow I was up at 4, so I feel your pain!

flynn1984 · 06/11/2008 13:51

I know what you mean, StrawberrySam, I'm nearly 8wks and was supposed to see midwife on Tues but the clinic was cancelled so I have to wait a week! It might put back the scan by a week too, since I think it's booked at that appointment. Boo!

With you on the constipation, though I have nausea and vomiting too, just for fun. . I try to eat lots of fruit in the morning, when I'm less likely to barf, and someone else mentioned Activa bio yoghurt as a good gentle sorter-out-of-bowel problems. Trouble is, the high fibre one, which would be best for constipation, has bits of grain in it which usually would be fine but at present would make me throw up. Just had tea with the kids - toasted egg mayo bagel with cucumber and tomato. Enjoyed it on the way down, now waiting to see how it tastes on the way up. Sorry if you've just had your tea.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 06/11/2008 17:27

Prunes.... they worked for me xx

Tee2072 · 06/11/2008 18:09

Just got back from hospital for my second round of test the blood for PG hormone. Hopefully the level is higher than it was on Tuesday and everything is fine.

I have to call tonight after 9 to find out.

Good thoughts please?

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 06/11/2008 18:16

Lots of good thoughts coming from my way let us know when you hear xxx ((((hug))))

TeenyTinyTorya · 06/11/2008 19:00

I don't get to see my midwife until 10 weeks - it feels ages away. I'm only 7 weeks tomorrow.
