summerbird · 27/09/2008 15:37

Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

Well, to combat my scan fear / obsession, I've just been given an early birthday pressie - we're off to St Ives for 4 nights next week, coming back the afternoon before the scan and I've also booked off the day after scan so, if all is well, I can go shopping

chocciedooby · 29/10/2008 13:42

Thats lovely Jools.Lucky you.
My nausea seems to have calmed down a bit today but maybe it will be back with a vengeance later this afternoon.
It is freezing here and snowing.I have put the kids in front of the tv for a while so I can have a rest and eat my lunch in peace. My lunches are doubling in size

llynnnn · 29/10/2008 14:19

Jools - i'm very jealous, sounds lovely!

choccie - oh no not snow, i thought it was cold here but we havent had any snow...yet!! brrrr

summerbird - i havent had any nausea this morning either and have now been worrying again!! although i still feel shattered, despite having almost 11 hours sleep last night!

helpivegotto - i am also taking the pregnacare tablets with my evening meal, and seem to be ok

mica - hope your dd adjusts to the new times really soon, its AWFUL getting up at that time of day, especially when its so cold and dark

had my booking in app this morning, all fine, they have to fill in sooooo much papaerwork tho! you'd think it would all be on computer really wouldnt you!! got my scan date for 17th nov, seems like a long way off but cant wait for it!! she conf that i would have to see a consultant as i had a csection last time but theres a good chance i could have a natural delivery this time and that they will encourage it as far as possible. i'm pleased about this as i really really would like to avoid another section!!

ttcnumber3maybe · 29/10/2008 16:17

Hi all! I can SO sympathise with so many of your comments... am bloating loads or showing perhaps as it's my third... keep getting hormonal (upset on occasions, or just feeling a bit tearful ... ranging to getting really angry .. running out of patience easily ... which are pretty out of character)... i guess like bad pmt except i have never had PMT! .... and I'm sure i didn't feel like this with DS1 or DS2
Apart from that a lot of my other 'symptoms' seem to have vanished (to the extent that I did a cheapie ebay test this morning just to make sure I am still PG!!!!) and tho i also know that's normal, I had totally forgotten how weird the weeks running up to a scan are. I am now approx 6 weeks and we have first scan in December so quite a way to wait yet!
Had v bad MS with DS1 and nausea with DS2 but this time round just slight nausea which goes if i eat - so really sympathise with those of you who have bad MS (I always found CARRS cheese melts helped, and ginger biscuits too....) .... have any of you others on pregnancy 3 or 4 found symptoms are quite different?

oh! HAve also had really vivid dreams last few nights as well!
going to go and eat some chocolate to cheer myself up - sorry if i seem a grump just don't know what's got into me!

chocciedooby · 29/10/2008 17:08

Hi ttcnumber3maybe. You are not a grump, just hormonal and I'm right there with you! I am having lots of symptoms that I can remember from DS1 and DS2 but also some new symptoms.I don't ever remember having sore boobs before and my nausea is varying from MS to afternoon sickness to all day sickness. I am also extremely impatient and snappy at times.
I do however suffer from PMT normally.
I had massive bloating over the wekeend and it has subsided a lot now. I gained a few pounds in the first 5 weeks but have now lost a couple.??!!
We are both on baby 3 after 2 DS's.Are you going to find out what gender you are having this time around?

chocciedooby · 29/10/2008 17:12

I can't stop eating satsumas!!!!

ttcnumber3maybe · 29/10/2008 17:33

Hi chocciedooby - thanks for making me feel better! And yes - had forgotten about that too - I am also eating loads of satsumas and oranges (in fact that's how my MIL guessed i was PG!)
We found out with DS1 & 2 so will def do so this time ... have a feeling may be a girl this time (tho really don't have too much of a preference as after all we can't choose!) but then was so convinced DS2 was a girl didn't believe he was a boy again til we had a 3d scan and saw the willy for myself!!!
looks like we're a week or so apart and our children also v similar in age! do you have a date for your first scan yet? are you going to find out???

Thats so funny that you are eating oranges like mad as well! They seem to make me feel better but only temporarily.
I am having a nuchal scan this time as I will be 38 on delivery. It is booked in for Dec 4th which seems so far away right now.
DH wants to find out the babies sex but I'm not sure yet. We never did with the other 2. I would love a girl but I also massively love my boys so another would fit in quite well. I need to think a bit more about it really.

ttcnumber3maybe · 29/10/2008 18:23

Hi ... I just had to find out both times! found it really helped me to bond/visualise the baby (plus I was just far too curious!) and this time will also be useful in a practical sense as have so many boy things! but end of the day it is a personal decision I guess. we had a nuchal scan both times (just becuase it was available) and this time round may be able to find out the sex of the baby at that scan (my friend did!!! they are having a girl after two boys!) completely agree with you on your rationale about girl vs boy - both would be great for different reasons. have to say tho i'm still getting my head around having a third as although I love my boys and found babyhood hunkydory just didn't feel the need for anymnore... then DH got me way to his way of thinking and it happened literally straight away so still a little freaked out as only in last couple of months I'd started to come round to the idea of 3 and here we are... all being well! ... anyway, bring on the satsumas!

wilsonmummy · 29/10/2008 19:33

Hi Everyone!!

Llynnnn...i had to have c-section with first and opted to have natural delivery with 2nd and i nearly got there, got to 9cms then in all went wrong for me unfortunatly! The consultants are really good to be honest, i told them i wanted to go natural and he was really supportive and i got praised for wanting to give it a go, apparently a lot of people just on insist on having another c-section cos its the easy way out!! i remember them coming in a few times aying that if i hadn't fully dialated by such a time then they would be getting me ready and i sent them away a few times begging for a bit more time, eventually i had a horrific pain and they though i was gonna rupture (theres only 16th between my dc) abd he stood at the bottom of my bed patting my foot saying there there you gave it a good try whislt i was sobbing!!

Thinking about it now was a bit patronising!! But hey she's here sound and safe!!

llynnnn · 29/10/2008 19:56

wilsonmummy - thanks for sharing your experience with me. a part of me does think another section would be easier (and less scary in some ways as i know what to expect!) but then a massive part of me really wants a natural birth as much for the whole experience as for the fact it will be easier to cope with dd and the new baby without a section wound too!! i still feel a little robbed last time as it was all so planned and i never had so much as a braxton hicks contraction!! but i s uppose what will be will be and as long as the baby and me are safe then thats the best option. sure i will be sobbing too tho if i got that far and it didnt work. are you going to try for a natural birth again this time?

chocciedooby & ttcnumber3 - i too have been eating loads ofd satsumas too! is it the vitamin c that our babies are craving?? we are also definitely going to find out the sex. we did last time too and i am far far too nosey to wait until june!!

Sorry for waffling everyone!!

chocciedooby · 29/10/2008 21:21

Oooh you ladies will start to get me thinking of finding out the sex. I have a while longer to decide. Its difficult as dh wants to know but I'm not sure yet. I want to respect his decision but if he knows it will be so hard for him not to tell me or at least to drop little hints along the way. That would be hard to deal with.
llynnnn I don't normally go for oranges at all apart from at Christmas time.Strange how theres a few of us getting hooked on them.
When you ladies find out the sex of your babies will you share the news with us?Would be very interesting.
ttcnumber3maybe My DH was not keen on trying for No.3 and sent me some confusing signals over the last few months.1 minute he said if it happened it happened and the next he would say he didn't want another.I guess I got lucky when dh relaxed a bit more in the bedroom department .
He is now so excited about having a new baby that I am over the moon. Fingers are crossed that everything goes well.

Tee2072 · 30/10/2008 06:41

Here we are, morning again!

Another bad nights sleep for both me and the hubby. I told him we were practising for when the baby arrives.

Other than that, still very few symptoms. No nausea, except when I don't eat, slightly achy boobs. That's about it!

Maybe I'll be a miracle pregnant woman and go through the whole 9 months feeling fine! And I just jinxed myself and will start vomiting violently any second now.

I hope everyone has a lovely Thursday! Bring on the weekend!

CoteDAzur · 30/10/2008 07:13

Those eating oranges like crazy - Have you heard the saying that you are carrying a girl if you crave sour, and a boy if you crave sweet?

Tee2072 · 30/10/2008 07:44

cote what if you're not craving anything yet? Does that mean you are having 'other'?!?!?

wilsonmummy · 30/10/2008 08:13

Morning all!!

Had a better nights sleep at last feels loads better!! Got hairdresser coming round this morning so ready for a bit of pampering!!

Discovered that dd2 had nits yesterday and spent the day digging them out, the nit combs did squat had to pull them all out with my fingers (cringe) can't understand where she's got them from as doesn't go to school yet and dd1 hasn't got one in sight!!

Llynnnn,... not sure about natural delivery this time, don't know if i'll get the chance to have a go, booked in with consultant at jessops in sheffield so will see what he has to say!

Not had any cravings yet, just feel the need to eat everything in sight!! although with previous pregnancies had cravings for ice pops or ice cubes, the crunchier the better!

Anyone had a 3d scan done, am thinking of haing one done this time! are they any good?

Jools1 · 30/10/2008 09:16

Tee - I'm the same - so symptom free that I frequently have to stop and rationalise the minor symptoms I do have to stop myself going mad and obsessing that there is nothing in there ! I should be enjoying being lucky enough not to feel ill, but I can't . Maybe it is because this is my first - no DC's to run round after !

Cote - I wouldn't say I have cravings, but I normally have a very sweet tooth, but chocolate just doesn't taste good to me any more . I like your theory though as I think I'd like to have a girl - all other theories I've heard about suggest I am having a boy, especially in terms of the timing of conception (day of Ovulation)

WilsonMummy - Sheffield is one of my favourite cities . I studied there 1988 - 1992 and it was one of the best experiences of my life Have only been back a couple of times since - must organise a visit soon ! In my final year, I rented a house near Bramall Lane and we used to have crowds of students bringing round beer and climbing onto the roof to watch the game !!

ttcnumber3maybe · 30/10/2008 10:23

Hi! I would definitely recommend a 3d scan - had one done for DS2 at around 22 weeks and was just amazing to see such a 'real' image of the baby inside of you. Like I said in previous posts, it also finally convinced me that I was actually carrying a boy! (my symptoms previously had been so different to DS1 that I was convinced I must be having a girl altho i had no real preference). I have to say that the baby pictures / video at the 3d can really looked like my DS2 x anyone else had a 3d scan?

flynn1984 · 30/10/2008 11:03

Morning all

MS is back again but not as bad as before

I would def recommend the 3d scan not had one done as this is my first but SIL had one done and it was amazing I'm going to have one done even though they cost around £300...think i'll see if my mum will pay for it as she did for SIL.

Am I being extremely early here, I've started to look at nursery furniture and pram sets as trying to work out finances (kinda mad with budgets, maybe thats the accountant in me)
I have my pram set all picked out from mothercare costing £450 approx, but totally stuck on nursery furniture I saw a nice set in next but it costs a whopping £675 is this too much to pay?

Hope everyone is well this morning...roll on the weekend

Jools1 · 30/10/2008 11:29

flynnn - I've had a look on Ebay and you can get some fabulous bargains when people have a clearout - often the whole nursery - cot, changing unit and more - is available provided a buyer collects and often for very little money.

I think I'm going to keep an eye out for anything coming up in my area - can't see the point of spending a small fortune if you cn get nearly new stuff for a fraction of the price - just means more money to put in LO's university fund

Prams aswell - I looked at the small ads in the local paper and there are loads and loads on offer - again, very cheap and buyer collects normally. I'm tempted to investigate some of those ads nearer the time

LittleSarah · 30/10/2008 11:34

Hey all, nausea back. Fantastic!

I'm going to buy a good buggy, a car seat, a moses basket and a cot. That's it. Think I know what cot and buggy we're getting and they're moderately expensive but should last. New baby will be in with me and dh for first yr (or so) and then will be sharing with dd so don't need a lot of furniture!

Jools1 - I love St Ives, that'll be lovely.

No cravings for me, I didn't have them last time either.

Won't be finding out the sex, I like the surprise too much. We had decided we would until we realised that!

Jools1 · 30/10/2008 12:03

My neighbour put her DS in his own room just a couple of weeks after birth - is that unusual ?

I'm just mulling over what to do - we have a spare room and I'm not sure whether to set it up as a nursery pre birth or wait and just have DC in with us for a while. New to all this !! What does everyone else do ?

omeNofthefleshes · 30/10/2008 12:06

can I just ask has anyone else got horrible cramps??????? I dont know if its just because its my 7th pregnancy or what but have had really achy underneath and horrible cramps since the weekend. I just want to cry Am seeing MW next tuesday so will ask her but the past 2 days they have been horrid and have made me into a paranoid freak expecting blood

omeNofthefleshes · 30/10/2008 12:08

Jools we had a nursery prebirth but ds didnt go in there until he was about 4mths old. All mine have moved between 4 and 6mths as thats when they have settled better. This baby will be in with us for at least a year as they will be sharing with either ds[who is in reception] or the dds who have bunk beds.

wilsonmummy · 30/10/2008 12:08

Hey all!

I've disovered a wedsite that does the 3d scans for as little as £65 for 15 min scan and 4 photos, closest one to me is in dewsbury which is about 45 mins away spoke to dh and said we can have it done!! yippee!!
Website is 4Dbabyscanyorkshire if anyone interested, they got a few clinics! sorry can't give you direct link as no idea how to do it!!

Jools...my friend just recently moved away from bramall lane, she lived in one of the new very posh flats they've just built! And we're having our xmas staff party at the sheff utd premier suite!! very nice!!
