summerbird · 27/09/2008 15:37

Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

SB x

That's great news littlesarah and flynn

funkybumps, I would have thought the doctor could have taken a bit of time with you! You should start taking folic acid as soon as poss, if you want to go for something like pregnacare, the supermarket own brands are a lot cheaper. Asda and tesco definitley do a pregnancy supplement.

LittleSarah · 22/10/2008 16:13

Thanks guys... hmmm, when do the clocks change come to think of it?

Tee2072 · 22/10/2008 16:16

This weekend!

ChloeandAlfie · 22/10/2008 17:57

Um.... DH has just found out that he's running the London Marathon next year..... mad man....

funkybumps · 22/10/2008 18:36

thanks for the advice girlies. Down to Boots it is for me then for some pregnancy supplements in the morning

Dull cramps and backache have got me today. Keep knicker checking but all is well ( apart from a little extra CM I think ) Hoping these are a good sign that the little beanie is sticking well x

My friend is 20 weeks so am texting her with every twinge to check if it's "normal". She says she was exactly the same. Just goes to prove, you still panic whether it's first, second or third baby !

summerbird · 22/10/2008 19:35

leaky i am the same, when i get symptoms i feel rough but when they go away i worry! it has reassured me to see that you guys are all feeling the same. Looks like we neednt be worrying

littlesarah woo hoo great news on the scan and your little wriggler beating its heart away

Summerbird - i'm with you on that one. Today have felt nausea is always just round the corner, but have had aching hunger pangs too.

They come and go and there is no telling when it's going to happen.

but i haven't had much else - no funny taste, no heighteneded sense of smell, no head aches and no real sickness either. and i do know i should b grateful - i am - but this is my first and i can't help feeling really paranoid. We used to have sheep that had phantom pregnancies....

Milkmade · 22/10/2008 20:26

funkybumps - when I found out I was pregnant with my dd last time, I phoned up my GP to say I was pg for advice, and got told "congratulations - call us when you've had the baby". Slightly gopsmacked I asked how I was meant to get check ups etc and was told to call a midwife, so I asked how to find one and if they could recommend one and was told "well there's the yellow pages or alternatively a lot of people use the internet these days" Phoned my best mate crying "but I don't even know the dutch for midwife"...

MrsMcJnr · 22/10/2008 22:40

Evening ladies quick post from me as I am trying to translate the order of service for DS's baptism on Sunday and still have loads to do

Welcome newbies and congrats.

Flynn - fabulous

Littlesarah - lovely hon

Hello everyone else

Scan for me tomorrow - gulp! hope all will be ok!

Tee2072 · 23/10/2008 05:42

Good morning!

I woke up at 5...kill me now.

Am I the only one who is not worrying about every twinge and cramp? I am just assuming my body is changing! I'll probably let the kid juggle knives also, after all, its a skill!

In an interesting twist, my SIL, who was married the end of September this year, is exactly 1 week more pregnant than I am! Took me 15 months, took her 1!

magnummum · 23/10/2008 06:55

Hi Ladies, can I join you? Expecting number 2 on 6th June after 6 months fertility treatment. .Had 7 week scan on Monday and saw bean's heart beating. V. exciting (and v.relieved that there is only one of them). Don't know why but I'm much more nervous of something going wrong this time round but trying to not be paranoid and wait for the 12 week scan.

Tee2072 · 23/10/2008 07:41

Welcome magnummum!!

Yayaya for heartbeat!

chocciedooby · 23/10/2008 10:12

Morning everyone.
Felt slighty queasy this morning after another night of getting up for DS2.He has terrible cough
Suffered a bit of constipation yesterday (sorry if tmi), boobs still tender, back aching but that normally does anyway.
My hair is getting quite greasy as well.Anyone else experiencing this?
Good luck with your scan MrsMcJnr and the baptism on Sunday .
We don't get offered scans here until 20 weeks which is such a long time to wait but I am booked in for a nuchal this time on Dec 4th so will be 12 weeks then
Welcome new BFP's
Well done magnummum
Off to dentist this morning after part of a large tooth fell out whilst eating salad!

Milkmade · 23/10/2008 10:49

Shattered this morning - dh away til sunday, but dd is now used to him going through if she wakes at night, so when I went in with her milk she kept pointing at my bedroom saying "da da" and wouldn't go back to sleep... After an hour I put his dressing gown in the cot with her and she went down fine!
Tee - must admit I'm not feeling any symptoms but didn't actually expect to this early. Maybe I'm just not very in touch with my body!

Diege · 23/10/2008 11:13

Good luck with scan MRSMCJNR . I also had news of scan, now booked for 7 weeks (they wanted me to come in today but was doubtful what they'd see at 5 weeks ). I managing to keep sickness under control with buttered toast.
How is everyone else coping with the sickness if it's arrived? Any tips to getb through the day?
CHOCCIE - wow 20 weeks is a long time to wait! is it your first?
Great news MAGNUM

DawnoftheDead · 23/10/2008 11:23

Hello all,

Just thought I'd jump on here as I'm feeling a little more confident about my PG now... I know Summerbird from another thread so - HIYA!!

My bean is due (well hopefully it won't look as much like a bean by then...) on 11th June. Exactly 11 days before my birthday. I had an MC on the 1st August at just 5 weeks so at least I've passed that milestone as I was 7 weeks yesterday.

Because of the last MC, I decided to wait until now to call the GP, so I had an appointment yesterday afternoon where I asked if they could refer me for an early scan. But he refused saying that one MC was "normal" and they wouldn't refer me for an early scan unless I'd had two. I also can't get a Midwife appointment until 4th November when I'll be 9 weeks, so I'm thinking now that my first scan might even be late considering how long it takes hospitals to get the appointments out!!

It sounds like I'm not the only one worrying about lack of symptoms... Other than my boobs being sore and constipation (which is finally starting to ease), I'm not really getting MS. Just feel nauseous if I'm hungry and just not really "fancying" certain foods that I normally like. Weird one for me though, while I was taking Lactulose for my constipation, I was having bad cramps through the night that almost felt like the MC, but as soon as I got up to go to the loo, they went! Very odd.... I've stopped the lactulose now though so not having that problem...

Also, feeling quite hungry a lot of the time.

I think that's about it... It's nice to join a new thread. Anyone due on the same day as me?!

xxx

PS: Sorry about the gruesome name - it's especially for Halloween. After 31st I'll be back to good old DawnAS.

Tee2072 · 23/10/2008 11:36

Diege also using the buttered toast method. Although it would appear that mine is mostly caused by sob coffee! I switched to decaf ages ago but my morning cup this morning almost made me hurl! sob sob sob

What I want to know is does anyone have a way to get the boobs to stop hurting?!?! I never realized how often during the day my arms brushed against them until now when it hurts!!

Diege · 23/10/2008 11:54

LOOL at coffee withdrawl TEE . I gave up regular tea and coffee a few months ago, but even my decaff tea is literally a water, milk and a quick dip of the bag..
Not suffering too much on boob front - very sore when I squeeze them/run down stairs but as I'm normally an A cup the whole accidental brushing thing has never been an issue
Am going to try some soup now as have Od'd on toast..

leaky · 23/10/2008 12:02

Thanx Tee2072 & summerbird & you're right summerbird it is so reassuring to read on here that most of us are feeling the same. Can you imagine if we all met up for coffee,we'd bore non-pregnant people so much, but it'd be a great afternoon

I've been weeing all morning & starving so the symptoms are flooding in today.Kept telling my DH that if I fell pregnant I'd turn really healthy & have fruit snacks etc.Started out well with a satsuma but then had 3 chocolate bourbons & now some yummy crisps with sour cream dip....ummmm

Hi DawnoftheDead & congratulations.I think we may be due around the same time.Depending which pregnancy calendar you go by I'm due on the 11th June but until I've had my scan I'm going by the one that says 5th June! Different dates because dr's generally use one that assumes a 28 day cycle but my cycle is 34 days so very likely I am due same day as you.
My booking in appt with the midwife is the 3rd November but I think she will arrange my scan date.If anything I'd rather have it at 12wks or later just to make doubly sure all's ok.Although early scans are reassuring you're still not 'out of the woods'.

Jools1 · 23/10/2008 12:04

Just flying in for a quick hello, having finally arrived in the Bridgend office. It is a long journey - I set off at 7am and signed in at 11.30 - deliberately left a bit early to ensure a less crowded journey across London and was congratulating myself on feeling OK till I started getting really really nauseous around an hour ago - just nibbling crackers and hoping it goes before a 12.30 meeting with my boss, who hasn't seen me for a month !! I wonder if he will notice my expanding waistline

Tired and looking forward to a nice big bubble bath and a huge bed all to myself in my favourite hotel tonight

Welcome Magnummum - I really fancy ice cream now and Dawn - glad you've got past that milestone.

Diege - I think you are brave to turn down a chance to look at beanie, but also very sensible to wait

flynn1984 · 23/10/2008 12:07

Morning all..or should i now say afternoon!

Well my MS has hit me big time today usually I just feel sick but today I can't keep anything down (been sick 4 times already) anyone got any good remedies to combat MS? I've tried the usual things with ginger in it but not working

Congrats dawnofthedead!

Tee2072 · 23/10/2008 12:17

flynn1984 Toast has been working wonders for me. Also, eating every few hours seems to help. Try not to let yourself get too hungry!

Man leaky I am jealous! I have diabetes so have to be very careful of what I eat! No chocolate bourbons for me!

ChloeandAlfie · 23/10/2008 12:35

Last pregnancy I was throwing up every day from 7 to 14 weeks, this time I just feel a bit sick in the mornings.

Flynn The best thing that worked for me last time was italian breadsticks (like you get in the restaurants), cream crackers, plain Hula Hoops and Mini Babybels. In fact, that was my diet for those months! I ate a little bit every half an hour or so to stave off the sickness. I also couldn't brush my teeth as it made me sick.... You have my sympathies....

LittleSarah · 23/10/2008 13:50

Ugh I feel sick.

Over and out.

Diege · 23/10/2008 14:43

I feel your pain Littlesarah... When did your sickness hit?
I've just ordered some 'preggy pops' in sour fruit flavour that I've heard good things about. Also saw MorningWell CD there which did nothing for me last time (in fact made sickness worse ), but may help others? Must find website and post.
JOOLS, your hotel sounds bliss, very .
FLYN, I really feel for you . If it gets worse may be worth contacted GP? There are safe meds out there in pregnancy - you don't need to suffer excessively
