Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

i'm sure i can get the nt scan free too, it is absolutely shocking that some of you have to pay sooooo much for it. I really dont understand how they can justify it, we all pay the same taxes etc for the same service supposedly!! anyone rant over!!

last pg we decided not to have any of the extra tests, mainly due to the fact that their is no history in either family and me and dh were only 24 then (now 27). think we will make the same decision this time too tbh, not that i've conf this with dh yet!! Also, i wouldnt want to risk the amnio. it is a hard decision to make tho.

myneaux - im worried about growing huge this time too! at the mo i seem to be eating constantly as its the only thing that stops me feeling sick! i know what i weighed before i was pg, darent get on the scales now tho!!

welcome to the newcomers and congratulations!!

littlesarah - i also have an increased sense of smell. its awful isnt it! i went to the local sandwich shop at lunch but had to leave because the onion smell made me feel really ill!

I'm going to a family party this evening and really debating with myself whether to tell everyone the news!! worried i will jinx it if everyone knows !!
hope everyone has lovely, healthy weekends

MrsMcJnr · 17/10/2008 21:32

Welcome and congrats Teeny like you I experience the opposite of constipation in pg, some people just do!

Littlesarah ? sorry to hear that you fell must have missed that yest, hope you are ok? I?m with you on the smells; the worst is the smell of dog pee on pavements weird I know!

Choccie ? glad you are feeling better where are you based then?

Hey Nickelsodium

Wow you lot are a fit bunch I walk a lot and swim a bit but don?t do much else. I am bigger than I?d like to be but did lose all of DS?s pg weight so I can?t blame him for what?s left!

Welcome Chloe and congrats glad you are feeling better this time round than last!

Welcome Diege and congrats to you! I was worried that joining a thread like this was tempting fate when I was pg with DS as I?d had a MC before him but now I realise that these threads give so much support and positivity and that outweighs the worry for me.

Myneaux ? I know that feeling, if I get past 2 hours without food I feel really weird ? that was a very good description of how it feels by the way

Llynnn ? wonder if you?ll spin the beans tonight!

Strawberrysam ? rule of thumb is that anything and nothing are normal in pregnancy you just sound typically newly pg to me!

Flynn ? fabulous!! Hope time until weds speeds along for you x

bigcar · 18/10/2008 07:32

Morning all!

Flynn, that's great news, hope that allows you to relax a little over the weekend!

I've had a rough couple of days, got a migraine thursday and ended up being really sick, wiped me out for most of yesterday too. Feeling much better today, although still feeling sick but i think that'll probably last a few more weeks.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

helpivegottogivebirth · 18/10/2008 08:11

Hi Everyone, esp everyone new.

i got back from Frankfurt in one piece - thanks to everyone for your highly entertaining ways to avoid alcohol!

No morning sickness on th trip, but it literally kicked in within an hour of being home - my body must have been on self preservation mode unil then.

Still haven't ben sick but the nausea at 4 this morning was pants!

Jools1 · 18/10/2008 11:52

Welcome StrawberrySam and Diege

I'm feeling virtuous again today - have done my legs bums tums and dance aerobics classes at the gym and lasted reasonably well - nipples are a bit sore from the bouncing around though ! I also managed to go through an entire evening without turning on the computer and actually talking to DP !

Got my dating scan through - Nov 11th, so 2 days after my birthday ! I was hoping to have it at exactly 12 weeks - Nov 7th - as I'm seeing friends that night and may have to come clean then, but would hate to do that and then have to untell people Still being a paranoid first-timer and intermittently feeling that this is all in the mind and I can't really be PG !

Hi ladies and congratulations to you all! Have just had my first meeting with my midwife - just a chat really - and am due around June 7th. Very excited and nervous as this is number 1! Was wondering if I could join this lovely group? Hubby and I have decided not to tell anyone yet but in desperate need to gush!

VickyJane77 · 18/10/2008 19:01

Hello been a bit quite here as i've got the inlaws visiting, so having to entertain . Anyway, still having some discharge, but no pain, so keeping positive.
Wow, a couple of days away from the computer and I've so much to catch up on. Congrats to the new BFP's xxx

TheLittleMermaid · 18/10/2008 19:25

Hello all, just took test today and BFP. Complete shock as just thinking about TTC. DS is 12 months. So wish I'd known about MN when I was pregnant last year. Looking forward to sharing these first scary weeks. Think I'm due 28 June so only just preggers.

xxx

chocciedooby · 18/10/2008 20:55

Hi StrawberrySam. I was exactly the same last week. Very light headed, upset stomach and always thirsty.I am still am drinking loads of water and have replaced my cups of tea with hot water and fresh lemon. Just trying to be as healthy as I can. When are you due?

MrsMcJnr, I am tons better thanks. The natural way to deal with a cold worked much more effectively than my usual stuffing of every over the counter cold remedy I can get my hands on! I live in Ireland.

Flynn, Great news. Good Luck next week.

VickyJane77 Hope you are taking it easy and that all is ok

Welcome and congratulations TheLittleMermaid

Hi All

Another one here with on/off symptoms that leave me finding it hard to believe I am pg one minute and certain the next.
I thought I was getting away without sore boobs, (I breastfed DD until about 3 months ago and still have some milk there, so reasoned that if they are already 'ready', maybe they won't hurt ). However, DD has been using them as leverage today - placing her pointy little elbow firmly in left boob and then hoisting herself up - and boy did it hurt.
Nausea isn't too bad - I am scoffing biscuits if I wake in the night and first thing in the morning, which seems to be working and makes waking up much more bearable in any case .
I went to see my GP on friday to get myself in the system. I saw a very old school locum - who was very sweet in a pat your hand sort of way, with a fantastic mittle european accent. But didn't leave me with much confidence that I would be referred for a scan etc, luckily the receptionist seemed to totally get that, and will be getting it all sorted.
DH is away tonight DJing and I am really looking forward to having the bed to myself . I have also told DD that we are having a lazy morning tomorrow, staying in PJs and watching Beebies (her), mumsnetting/reading the papers (me), at least that is the plan.

MrsMcJnr · 18/10/2008 22:30

Poor you Bigcar, I used to get a lot of migraines (but luckily not any more with my blood thinners!) the next day feels like you have a hangover doesn?t it?

Welcome back Help glad all went well.

Jools ? shame the scan doesn?t fit in better with your plans, would have been fun to break the news that night!

Hello StrawberrySam

Welcome and congrats Natbrum such an exciting time, its fun to chat about it!

Hang on in the VickyJane ? you?ll be fine

Welcome and congrats Thelittlemermaid I have a DS of 8 months and like you was only just thinking about TTC when it happened! Very different from TTC last time round.

Choccie ? glad you are feeling better!

Onehitwonder ? I have been explaining my lack of breast pain to myself similarly to you, that they are still in pg mode because I only stopped BFing 8 weeks ago (they feel softer now than before, do yours?)

ChloeAnderson · 19/10/2008 09:08

Keep getting really bad crampy feelings in my tummy. I vaguely remember the same thing last time, tho in my sleep deprived state in the early hours, had convinced myself that I had an ectopic pregnancy!

Feel better this morning. I was so chilled out with my first pregnancy (despite suffering bad morning sickness and then crutches for last two months from SPD).

Am a real worrier this time round.....

chocciedooby · 19/10/2008 09:48

Hi Chloe.
I am a worrier too and this is my 3rd!
I have had an upset tummy all week and have been hoping its down to the cold I am just getting over. It seems to be worse first thing in the morning and anytime after eating.

chocciedooby · 19/10/2008 09:52

Or it could be the build up of acid in the stomach which can be cuased by pregnancy hormones.

ChloeAnderson · 19/10/2008 12:30

It's such a nightmare isn't it?! I'm not really a worrier at all, until it comes to pregnancy. Every little twinge and pain I'm convinced I'm miscarrying or something....

Hope you begin to feel better soon chocciedooby. Not good to be ill when you've also got two other kids....

Diege · 19/10/2008 13:43

Hello! Sorry I've been a stranger after introducing myself! Thanks for the welcome - good to see some familiar faces- JOOLS, CECE, MRSMCJNR . STRAWBERRYSAM - I think we have the same due date? (22nd June) although with dds I was 5/6 days early.
I too am of the anxious, paranoid school of thought. Always was, but after mmc in July every twinge/toilet visit if fear-filled!
I am really trying to chill though - there's no way I can sustain this level of anxiety over 9 months.
Am 5 weeks tomorrow and have first GP appointment then to get in the system. Am going to ask about an early scan (8 weeks or so) but part of me wants to bury my head in the sand and just see what will be .

Symptoms-wise, I have sore boobs, some cramping on and off, and a dizzy 'out of it' feeling. No sickness as yet...

Jools1 · 19/10/2008 14:18

Glad you've made it back Diege

I joined MNet back in July, and very nearly joined a fabulously friendly-looking conception thread that you were on, but I'd think you'd just had your bad news then, so I felt like I'd be intruding and joined a different thread.

I sometimes think that if I hadn't joined MNet, I'd still be living in happy ignorance of all that can go wrong in the first trimester as it is, I've been a bit of a worrier - probably worse as a first-timer - so have reduced my time on MNet in an effort not to obsess, or bore the pants off everyone else with my frequent meltdowns !!

I have discovered though, that I only really have symptoms if I have to commute into London for the odd day and get tired - otherwise the nausea is barely noticeable, tiredness is not particularly noticeable and I still have no cravings, other than an inclination to eat very healthy food. I suppose I should consider myself lucky

Diege · 19/10/2008 14:35

Hi Jools . It's a wonderful thread the one you refer to - a get so much support from the ladies on there, several of whom have also had msicarriages.
How wmany weeks are you now? Agree that commuting and early pregnancy are not good. Still have flashbacks to vomiting in train when pregnant with dd1 - they had to terminate the service at Piccadily much to the annoyance of fellow passengers!
Oh and I'm sure we won't be the only two professional worriers on here

Jools1 · 19/10/2008 14:43

8 + 2 today - but don't get my first scan till Nov 11th and that feels a really long time in the future at the moment

I'm quite lucky - my firm opened up an office in my home town last month and I've been gradually spending more time there and less in London - only 2 days last week Have got an overnight trip to Cardiff this week but I quite like that as the hotel I use is just so friendly and relaxing and I book in advance to get a cheap first class train ticket

Diege · 19/10/2008 15:08

Cardiff trip sounds good JOOLS . I travel down there for work every couple of months or so, and really enjoy the whole hotel experience (plus the shopping isn;t bad ). Next trip is ealt Dec so planning on starting (should that be finishing?) my xmas shopping.
So you must be due early June then? Doesn't it seem a lifetime away? I have 2 nov dds and 1 born in July. Summer maternity leave was much the nicest time weather-wise
