Brand new BFP's - anyone due a June 2009 baby?

summerbird · 27/09/2008 15:37

Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

sorry I'm a bit lost on the conversation already - its a very active thread

jools - you don't need to tell them yet if you don't want to, with ds1 I told my manager when I was 8 wks and I was sidelined, not overtly but it happened, I was on a rubbish project for next 7 months, with ds2 I waited till I was 18 wks (believe me tunic tops are ace if you want to hide pg for a while, i'm average size though, if you are stick thin it might not work ) this time I will tell him when I go back to work at xmas as I should have had 12 wk scan by then - I'm just finishing second yr of mat leave so he's going to hate me what ever - if its a great project and opportunity don't feel like you have to pass it over, its no diff to a bloke taking job and then leaving for diff job in April.... thats the way I look at it but I work with all blokes so v concious of being more 'selfish' about my career to protect it not sure what I wrote makes sense but hope so!

nemo - 4 kids in a 3 bed will be fine, people should just keep there opinions to themselves and say congrats!

hope tomorrow goes ok liliacpink x

LittleSarah · 14/10/2008 19:54

Good luck for tomorrow lilacpink, I'll have my fingers crossed.

My brain is switching off slowly and I feel like I can't be bothered half the time, poor dh, my face is tripping me!

On the plus side, I think we've found nice new flat to rent, need to move at the beginning of Dec. Saw it tonight and just need to send references tomorrow! I also won't be moving a thing! I'll be in charge of unpacking.

Oh, I've told quite a few people. Ended up telling when I had my m/c last time so thought I might as well this time. Not everyone but close friends and family.

Jools1 · 14/10/2008 20:15

hmm - will have a think over the next few days but I think I am inclined not to tell yet if I can get away with it - get established on the project rather than run the risk of them taking this away from me before I've started.

MrsMcJnr · 14/10/2008 20:47

Hello ladies I?ve taken it really easy today my DS decided to have a sleep with us (it?s a holiday here today) after his morning bottle so none of us got up until 10.45 bliss, how lucky are we!

Lilacpink ? really hope it all goes well tomorrow hon, everything crossed that your bean is just snuggling in

Help ? great to hear the spotting has stopped my work trick for staying off the sauce was to talk about it a lot! Be the first to say it?s time for a drink and just abandon them where you can but make sure you do take a few very public sips and you?ll get away with it take it easy now and feet up when you can

Summerbird ? take it easy on the green tea now! Have fun in Barcelona! my parents have exactly the opposite attitude to your FIL. I didn?t want to go back to work until DS was a year old at least and we have considerably down sized and moved abroad so that could happen but my parents have done nothing but harass me about it. They are going to kill me when they hear that I am expecting again! we could do with more cash and I am looking for work half-heartedly but I never realised how much I?d enjoy being at home with my baby I love being with him all day every day especially now as he is so much fun

Jools1 ? it is funny thinking that you might be standing right next to another MNetter and not know it

Daisy5 ? me too! 1 week and 1 day until my scan too

Bigcar ? not such a Sunny Spain today, we?ve had thunder storms, rain and power cuts but it?s still 22 Celsius We haven?t been over here very long (just since June even though I grew up here) and I haven?t started work again yet after mat leave and DH is consulting so we are not yet on the Social Security which means that I am having private care at the moment which is fab but very expensive fully intend to have B2 in a state hospital though, our local one has a good rep even though they are not keen on mobility during labour and think you are crazy if you don?t have an epidural ? all that scares me a bit as I had a wonderful experience in Scotland with DS and hope for the same again but I have a while to learn all I can about beating the system. On the state here you get many more scans, including one on your due date. Also, nearly everyone finds out the sex and you have to specify every appointment if you don?t want to know. They also refer to the unborn by the name it will have which doesn?t sit well with me but maybe I am too superstitious/cautious.

Milkmade ? congrats hon how old is DD? Bet you enjoyed that last blow out hey?

Littlesarah ? this stage is a stressful time isn?t it? glad you have found a nice flat we are renting at the mo too and we were thinking we?d stay put when the lease is up in April but DH feels a bit cramped here ? I guess it is small but that?s a bonus from a cleaning perspective.

Hey Mrsbabookaloo ? congrats! my DS is 8 ½ months old so I?ll be like you with two close in age

Yoshimi ? have fun tonight and hope the move goes well

Nemo ? poor you sounds like you are really suffering 4 kids in a 3 bed semi sounds ok to me, our flat is a tiny 2 bed and I?ll need to get rid of my bedside table to get a moses basket in

Froggy ? hope you manage to make it through the sickness, uggh!

Hey Llyynnnn ? sorry to hear today was a hard one

Insywinsy ? I agree with all you said about telling work about being pg. I did tell them with DS very early because I lost my first one at 13 weeks and they hadn?t known anything about it and I found that so much harder to cope with. They were great about it I have to say.

chocciedooby · 14/10/2008 21:58

Welcome all the newbies!!
I wouldn't tell them yet Jools1. I know it's hard but try not to feel pressured. I was in a similar situation as you with DC1 and I put the pregnancy to the back of my mind as much as I possibly could whilst working. Tell them when you are ready and then you can explain. My cold is getting worse and I feel miserable.Have just drank a mug of hot water with lemon and honey.

daisy5 · 14/10/2008 22:16

jools - it is so true. I would suggest waiting until the first trimester and you are more secure in your pregnancy is over before announcing anything. They will understand. They all have partners, sisters, friends who will have done the same. Until you get that 12 week scan behind you, it's not worth risking being taken off something interesting.

Look at it this way, if your company was suddenly in serious financial trouble, would they give you eight months notice?

mrsmcjnr - wow - we are both due on the same day and have first scan on the same day. Actually, three years ago, we booked a holiday in Spain leaving two days after my 12 week scan. But then the scan showed my dates were 2 weeks out, so we went out to Spain when I was 10.5 weeks pregnant. I found the heat so hard and felt really unwell and a few days before we were to come back had a threatened miscarriage. We went to a hospital and got scanned immediately (God bless them) and they were quite concerned and said I had to rest for two weeks and couldn't fly anywhere. Anyway, one of the biggest coincidences in the world was that one of my best friends was staying in her grandad's house nearby so I went to stay with her. The Spanish health service was fantastic. I couldn't fault it. I got my 12 week scan at a private clinic in Marbella - almost one hour with a wonderful doctor, Spanish but trained in UK, got a DVD and 12 pictures (in 3D too - they had all the latest equipment) for about £75. When I showed all the Spanish information and data to my midwife when I got back, they said they can't use it, as it's not done in the UK. Isn't that crazy. The only good thing was that they did extra nuchal blood testing, as to them 'I hadn't had a 12 week scan'.

I hope that's not too long a story. It was of my more memorable experiences clearly

summerbird · 15/10/2008 08:59

good point jools the difference with me is that i dont enjoy my job so dont care what work i get, however if this is a juicy project then i dont blame you for keeping quiet.

feeling sicky this morning, had to force down some brekkie which did make me feel a bit better...

Jools1 · 15/10/2008 09:09

Summerbird - this will mean working in an area I've been trying to get into for 5 years and will establish my reputation (hopefully) as a subject matter expert in my field, making it that much easier to go back and do part time / work from home, so it is a major step forward for me - I really really don't want to jinx it I think the time is definitely right for me and having a baby - work coming together AND my firm has just opened up an office in my home town - 25 mins walk away. In the new year, it will be my contractual base office, meaning I can claim any travel to London etc - a saving of £300 per month on commuting, which will mean more money for baby

MrsMcJr - I am mega impressed by your massive post and personalised responses and am very jealous of your long lie-in

Milkmade · 15/10/2008 09:37

MrsMcJr - it was a great weekend, we went cycling on one of the dutch islands, then stayed in a lovely B&B with great food.

I've got my scan booked now for 1st week nov - am a little gutted that apparetnly I need to have a hospital led care this time, not the midwives who looked after me last time - I vaguely thinnk that it's going to lead to much more weeing in cups and and bloodtests, but it's probab;y for the best.

chocciedooby · 15/10/2008 10:04

Morning everyone
I think thats decision made then Jools1.
It's fun keeping it secret anyway

chocciedooby · 15/10/2008 10:05

I have no pregnancy symptoms at all today orand didn't yesterday either. I think my head cold has taken over.
Kids are at school and I'm off to bed with my honey and lemon and magazines

Jools1 · 15/10/2008 10:08

Chocciedooby - I'm virtually symptomless aswell - keep wondering if there is really anything in my tum !! My boobs deflated quite a lot last night - not down to pre PG size but definitely less swollen than they have been - still sore though, which I guess is a good sign

chocciedooby · 15/10/2008 10:12

Now that you mention it Jools1, my boobs seem to have shrunk a little as well.Maybe we have just got used to their new size
Mine are still tender as well so I suppose thats a good sign.

Jools1 · 15/10/2008 10:22

Meant to say - hope the cold eases soon and you feel better I'd love to head back to bed - slept really badly last night !

After what I was saying about being symptomless - downed a glass of cold water, then had to sit in the loos for 5 minutes, trying to decide if I was going to be sick or not !!

Hello SwottyBetty

I'm the same - EDD May 29th so I'm chatting on both May and June threads - get the benefit as a first timer of all the experiences of ppl due earlier in May than me, and will hopefully still have ppl to chat to on this thread once the rest of May are busy with their LO's - perfect

flynn1984 · 15/10/2008 12:29

Hiya all,

I had my early scan this morning. Midwife originally told me I was around 7 weeks pregnant, however the scan today didn't show this. The scan only showed an empty sac measuring at around 4-5 weeks. Is an empty sac at this point normal? They took blood for tests and will need to go back in 48 hours for another test to check out my hormone levels.
I've been really upset this morning as I'm fearful that my pregnancy is ending.

Here's hoping this bean sticks and roll on Friday to I get my final hormone results.

bigcar · 15/10/2008 12:30

Afternoon ladies!

MrsMcJnr, I'm quite envious of your lie in . Spanish system seems to work quite differently, we haven't named any of our dcs until after they were born, so am with you on that one.

Nemo, 4 in a 3 bed semi is fine, honest It's usually the, was it planned, comments that get right up my nose, obviously every child after number 2 must have been an accident oh, and yes I do have a telly

Fingers crossed for your scan lilacpink.

bigcar · 15/10/2008 12:32

Fingers crossed for you too flynn x

Jools1 · 15/10/2008 12:40

Oh flynn how worrying will be thinking of you and hoping it just means you are not as far along as the MW though.

flynn1984 · 15/10/2008 12:50

Thank you guys for your kind wishes!
If this baby does stick, at least one good thing is coming out of this and that is my consultant wants me scanned every week or fortnight leading up to my 12 week scan...fingers crossed my blood results come back the way I want them to

Bluebutterfly · 15/10/2008 12:57

Can I join?

Bluebutterfly 1 June (32, DS 3.8).

Suffering with strong all day nausea now and trying to cope with an active ds!

summerbird · 15/10/2008 13:02

hey flynn i am for you that the midwife didnt explain anything to you about what it all means, hang on in there hun as you are probably just earlier than you think. and the good thing is that they want to scan you regularly, look at that as a positive.

jools i agree - decision made and good luck with that - it sounds very exciting!

welcome swotty choccy my symptoms are still coming and going too, my boobs arent as bad but the nausea is starting to kick in, i am feeling rough in the morning and forcing down brekkie but that is being replaced with ferocious hunger by lunchtime - i have just polished off a cheese pastie and sausage roll - might go for a wispa........

OP posts:
swottybetty · 15/10/2008 13:07

flynn fingers crossed for you - tho' hurrah for those extra scans. roll on friday and i always find some obsessive mumsnetting helps time pass quicker

bluebutterfly i'm coping with awful nausea too. got away with an easy sick-free first trimester last time. now i swear i can feel the oestrogen [sp?] coursing [sp again?!] thru me. despite this i am so hungry that you only have to mention a food and i crave it. watching advert breaks on telly is a nightmare....

Bluebutterfly · 15/10/2008 13:16

I am trying to be positive, Swotty, because we tried for a fairly long time to get pg with #2, but the sickness is draining all my positive energy!

I have stopped taking prenatal vitamins, except for folic acid, and actually found it helped a little bit with my already sluggish digestive system (things like iron can aggravate this!). If you are taking them, it might be worth going without for a day or two to see if it helps.

Otherwise, I guess it should only be a few more weeks before the first trimester grottiness ends... I am counting down the days.
