summerbird · 27/09/2008 15:37

Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

hi all, i'm tentatively adding myself - one of those online calculators says im due 22nd June (or 25th June depending on which you believe ). I'm still a bit unbelieving of it all as it happened so fast - only removed my coil 22nd September but obviously very happy and lucky .

MrsMcJnr · 13/10/2008 22:43

Welcome Insywinsy! Fab! LOL about your longest day concerns!
Help ? all sounding good you take good care now hon!
Onehitwonder ? hope the headaches go soon
Yoshimi ? you take it easy too.
Bigcar ? I?m with you on being too tired to do much.
Daisy5 ? yup, I?m in Spain. My Mum is 14th June and my SIL is 13th June. Get on with both really well but wonder if I am tough enough to raise a Gemini!
Ahh thanks Choccie I was hoping you?d say something like that. How did you cope buggy wise? Make sure you take it easy hon
Vickyjane ? positive thoughts hon, positive thoughts, everything crossed for you xx
Flynn ? all the best for the scan, hope you see the HB

hi all - no more spotting so think the bean has decided to stay thank goodness.
Feeling a bit nauseous today but not actually too bad. Dreading going on a plane though - what with potential morning sickness and coughing fits.
Totally have pregnancy brain - got no motivation to do much. I haven't booked a taxi yet to get to the airport, nor have i packed and i am thinking - hmmm, could i sneak in a quick cotton wash so i can take my favourite cardi? I'm feeling a bit 'Don't Care, Won't Care'.
The worst thing is i have to go three nights not drinking - everyone will notice and no-one will believe my poor excuses!
Hope everyone stays ok for the next few days - i'll miss my daily catch up on this thread!

Good news Help

Summerbird - I was chatting away to someone else in the waiting room in the antenatal section of the hospital, then started wondering if I may be talking to someone I already "know" ! Quite a strange feeling

I think I've worked out that I'm only nauseous if I have to go into an office in the morning - the walk in to my local office makes me really queasy - all the traffic fumes.

helpivegottogivebirth · 14/10/2008 10:07

Managed to get myself into gear - have now packed and booked a taxi.

Summerbird - Unfortunately, I;m not joining you in Barcelona (wish I was!) - I'm off to Frankfurt Book Fair to spend 4 days in windowless/airless convention centre, dodging free glasses of vino collapso.

VickyJane - good luck - sending good scnning vibes to you.

daisy5 · 14/10/2008 10:14

help - make up a fascinating complex story that ends up with your doctor putting you on antibiotics and insisting that you drink nothing for the full fortnight. That way you can sneak off early for a good nights sleep too. The more outlandish the story, the more they believe me I find.

1 week and 1 day till my scan - the countdown begins....

Jools1 · 14/10/2008 10:17

I'm very of these scans coming up - haven't even got a date yet, but it will be at least 4 weeks. As another one with very few mild symptoms, I'm desperate to prove to myself that I am actually PG !!

bigcar · 14/10/2008 10:26

morning all

vickyjane, keeping everything crossed for you and sending you hugs.

help, hope you have a good trip, think strong antibiotics mixed with painkillers is a good reason not to be drinking as well explaining feeling sicky.

MrsMcJnr, didn't realise you were in sunny Spain! Fwiw it's supposed to rain this afternoon, probably about 3.15 knowing my luck. How's antenatal care in Spain, does it work much differently to the UK?

Hope your scan goes well daisy.

summerbird · 14/10/2008 10:51

jools i am completely with you there, i need constant reassurance that i am PG. Oh and that wasnt me sat next to you in the waiting room

I have just managed to find some travel insurance, Endsleigh were quite good and will insure right up to 8 weeks before due date, just in case anyone needs it!

Hi all, Just got BFP yesterday. Tried sat morning 3 days late, and got a negative so went away for weekend break, including much shellfish and wine (oh dear) nothing happening on the period front so tried again yesterday and it's come through! Delighted but wondering what we've let ourselves in for - only just got DD to start sleeping semi-decently...

LittleSarah · 14/10/2008 12:30

Congratulations milkmade, know what you mean about wondering what you've let yourself in for!

daisy5 and llynnn I know exactly what you mean re symptoms. Feel much more like I did with dd this time. Last time I was so much sicker, although obviously with m/c don't know if it was a boy or a girl.

chocciedooby and others I'm definitely feeling the pregnancy brain too, staring into the distance and so on, luckily work is quite today!

Good luck to vickyjane and flynn1984 with your scans, mine is a week today! (sorry Jools1!)

Well, I am knacked. But managing. Have moments of nausea but nothing too bad. Hormonal, check, and tummy still seems rather bigger than usual. So, pregnant it seems.

We are such a paranoid bunch eh? No offence intended, I know I am one of the worst! It'll be nice when we get to trimester 2 and we can stop biting our fingernails...

mrsbabookaloo · 14/10/2008 12:55

Hi, I'm whispering here, but I think I'm joining you...got a positive this am. Already got dd, 2 and 4 months.

Milkmade: I ate a prawn sandwich yesterday on purpose, because i knew it might be my last one for a while!

As for not knowing what we've let ourselves in for...I am pretty scared about a lot of things, first and foremost the dreaded morning sickness which was the worst thing I've ever been through. But still we decided to go for it.

When am I due? Better go and figure it out!

yoshimi · 14/10/2008 13:37

Hello and congratulations Milkmade and MrsBalookaboo.
I too have a work event tonight when I will have to find excuses to be off the booze... I don't think the people I'm out with will be too eagle eyed, in my experience it's other mums who are the best at spotting newly pregnant people.

Will definitely not lift a thing except DS during the move.... felt like having a meltdown last night about all the work ahead of us though- we haven't seen the house for so long I can't remeber what needs doing to it... I just hope it's left in a fairly clean state!

Nemoandthefishes · 14/10/2008 13:42

hello all
hope you are having a good day..
I am completely washed out..went to bed for 3hrs yesterday afternoon as dh was home only to wake up, have a small dinner ,vomit and go back to bedHad to be dragged out of bed this morning for school run..dropped ds and then have done not a lot with my dds who are now both snuggling up for a sleep on the couch..best set an alarm on my mobile otherwise will miss collecting ds

Has anyone else told anyone? I have told a couple of people and most people think I am barmy and keep asking where we will all fit in our 3 bed semi...surely its not that bad to have 4 children in a 3 bed semi?

Milkmade · 14/10/2008 13:57

Havetogivebirth - i disagree - making up stories just tells people you are pg and lets them gossip - drink tonic water and everyone always assumes its G&T, or nurse a glass of wine all night and no-one notices - you feel self concious but they really don't notice!

froggy16 · 14/10/2008 14:00

Hi, I'm due on 13th June, but my other 2 were both early by 3 weeks and 2 weeks, so could be end of May. My symptoms have really kicked off this time around, much worse than before!
Congrats everyone!

summerbird · 14/10/2008 14:27

nemo nothing wrong in that at all hun, people always seem to think they know what is best for you, if you are content with four kiddies in a 3 bedroom house then go for it.

My father in law asked me how we were going to cope on one salary, you should have seen the look of horror on his face when i said i would be going back to work, he was horrified that i would be 'chucking my child in a nursery during their most formative years'

Whatever!!!

ps - welcome to all the newbies!!

Jools1 · 14/10/2008 14:56

I'd love not to go back to work, but that doesn't pay the mortgage !!

My choice was to not have children and continue working or to have children and perhaps drop down to 3.5 / 4 days per week - I have chosen

Maybe I should start buying lottery tickets again !

lilacpink · 14/10/2008 15:43

Hi all, I had more bleeding on weekend (small, but red) and pain at right side, saw doctor Monday and have scan tomorrow morning. I have no symptoms for hours and think all will end soon, then have waves of nausea and think no could be fine. Doctor said could be a cyst on my right ovary (and if related to PCOS could be why I have had irregular periods). Or could be ectopic. So just waiting game now. DH doesn't know what to say, we've just resolved lots of issues following course at relate. His first reaction was 'no way' (we didn't use contraception twice, but I was bleeding at time), but after problems he has been great and I'm thankful I have close relatonship with my Mum so have support.Good luck for all other scans and hope all well.

summerbird · 14/10/2008 16:57

good luck lilacpink and hope it goes well for you

lilacpink - thinking of you, hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

congrats to all the newbies!! welcome aboard!!

summerbird - my gran still comments almost everytime i see her about me being 'heartless' and 'dumping' my dd in a nursery 2 days a week!! she def thinks i shouldnt work and i only have to because we want too much!! i take it all with a pinch of salt as things are totally different these days (plus dd LOVES nursery!!)

nemo - 4 children will work in a 3bed, why cant people just keep opinions to themselves sometimes!!

littlesarah - we are paranoid, what will we talk about in the 2nd trimester!! we will be so chilled out......yeah right

well today hasnt been such a great day. i had to go to a work meeting with 2 company directors a 2 hour drive away!! i felt sooooo ill sat in the back of the car and was desparate for a loo stop!! not fun!!

Jools1 · 14/10/2008 17:54

Fingers crossed all goes well tomorrow Lilacpink

I have a bit of a work dilemma - have got to go up and meet my current line manager next week (works in Wales) - they've only just finalised the outline of the new role I'm supposed to be taking on in the next few weeks - will feel bad not telling them I'm only taking it on till end of April, but really really don't want to tell yet. On the other hand, having not seen my colleagues up there for a few weeks, they may well notice my expanding waistline , especially as I'm supposed to be meeting one of the directors for a drink next time I'm up there !

summerbird · 14/10/2008 19:12

Jools i told my boss straight away as it affects the work that i get (we work on a 9 month service standard - ironic!) so it is entirely up to you what to do, but would anything spoil by telling them? you could ask them to keep it on the quiet from your colleagues.....
