Good morning - its' freezing here, so just a quick Hello then I'm of to put the kettle on for a cuppa. Anyone joining me? Might even have a mince pie too!! Yum Yum!!

divedaisy · 17/10/2008 10:25

I'm only having one - though I think (??) i'd have liked twins. This may be last baby - I'll be 40 when this one arrives, and DH is one of 2 and he thinks 2 is enough. I'm one of 3 and I'd like a football team!!

FiKelly · 17/10/2008 10:25

Morning

Congrats to everyone who's had scans I've still got a few weeks to go... 3rd nov for nuchal, 4th for dating then 5th for MW! If nuchal are happy to do the dating bit then not sure if we'll go for the dating scan day after... depends on view we get of little-un at nuchal I suppose

I'm also finding this pregnancy a lot easier. My MS has pretty much gone... just odd bouts of nausea for a couple of hours if i'm really tired or like yesterday ate too much at lunch!

My boobs were tender for a while but seem to have gone back to normal. I'm still in the same bra and not bulging out of it so although I don't think there's much difference my hubby says they're def more rounded/fuller!

I had very strange food cravings last time. I despise tomato soup and last time couldn't eat enough of it. I'm also a take it or leave it chocolate person, usually just at time of the month... I went chocoholic last time to the extent it was a touch my choc or else offense! That was v hard for my chocoholic hubby... he couldn't steal any of my choc stash without repercussions!

This time i've not really craved much at all... few fads... baked pototoes, cheese, tangy sharp/sour drinks - more to get rid of the metallic taste which I had for a few days.

Also smells last time had me running for the loo... hubby had to stop making fresh coffee and had to do most of the cooking... everything had to go in the oven or I'd be really ill. This time i've had no problems with smells at all.

So I guess what I'm saying is apart from the growing waistline I'm having a pretty easy time of it too & jools don't worry yourself too much about lack of symptoms and go for the scan if you've the cash

divedaisy · 17/10/2008 10:57

OHHH! I'm such a greedy pig - I've just eaten half a packet of Tescos sesame & poppy thins smothered with Jalapeno humous dip also from Tescos!! Oh so yummy. I've now run out of the biccies and have more hummous left - what can I put it on!!!?? I need more!

divedaisy · 17/10/2008 10:59

Well worth it - tasty!!

FiKelly · 17/10/2008 11:41

Have you got any bread? I'd make toast or if all else fails... fill any veggies with it or just go for it with a spoon!

Jonesy68 · 17/10/2008 11:49

Morning (just)! Just got back from docs as had horrible tummy ache at 3am that lasted the rest of the nite so not much sleep had. Doc reassured me it's a "bowl issue" (!!!)...TMI? Relieved is nothing serious but have to have Fibogel - yuk! Blood test done Tues showed my thyroid (which is underactive anyway) isn't getting enough thyroxine so dose upped qt a lot - also a relief as the tiredness lately was getting ridiculous - felt like I'd been drugged some days! Now I know it was more than just the PG.

A funny thing tho - the blood result showed around 7 wks but in fact date from 1st day of last period puts me at 9½wks.... I don't want to think I've 5 weeks to go instead of 2½ - the wait is killin' me as it is! Any advice?

Tesco's sesame and poppy thins, yum yum! - oooh I may just have to go to the Tesco metro and see if they've got any. Am loving hummous at the moment too.

I can't concentrate today at work at all. I really should do as I'm out and about all over the place next week and will have little time to sit and do stuff. Glad it's Friday

I've ordered some prenatal fitness DVDs from Amazon this morning - I got Bhudda Bellies yoga (couldn't resist the title), Davina's pre/post natal fitness and another fitness one that is supposedly a bit more challenging. I think it's about time I hauled myself off the couch at the weekends.

Jonesy68 · 17/10/2008 12:09

jools if the cost is too high you could see your GP and give him a wee sample - they can check the hormone level there and then I think. Also could just call up your docs surgery and book yourself a blood test which they tend to do without question as it doesn't involve a doc then a couple of days later call up and get the results ie. how many wks you are. Might help put mind at rest that it's all progressing as it should be and ..... it's FREE!

SlippersAndPipe · 17/10/2008 13:09

Hello all. So hard to keep up with all this chat .
Just back from scan and Nuchal results all fantastic. I am sooo relieved. No twins here but was worried due to twins in family and excessive sickness (which this week seems to have subsided). So excited at seeing the lo for the first time. Gonna start telling people now. All very .

divedaisy · 17/10/2008 13:20

we haven't told anyone yet. will be keeping it to ourselves for as long as possible. though I think my mum knows.

getting nucal scan done on 4th Nov and on 5th Nov go for my first hospital apointment.

will we start adding our scan dates to the list to keep up with everyone??

divedaisy · 17/10/2008 13:24

I had to go back to page 25 to find the latest list!!! If you think this is too much we can always scrap it, but thought it might be the best way to keep on top of everyones scan dates etc etc.

I've put mine on - feel free to update your own appointments!

Hello Slippers congrats on your scan & nuchal results

I really want to tell people but am holding off until my Dad & his wife come back from holiday in a couple of weeks as I want them to be the next to know. And I'm holding off at work until I get my role on a new project established.

Exciting news - I have just purchased my first piece of materning wear I bought a plum-coloured knitted dress from H&M Mama. It doesn't look too much like mat wear and is stretchy so not too baggy, just enough to cover up while I wait for my flabby tum to turn into a bump

OP posts:
SpangleMaker · 17/10/2008 13:31

materning wear???? damn this pregnancy brain!

maternity wear

OP posts:
divedaisy · 17/10/2008 13:36

I haven't needed any preg clothes (except night time bra, and non underwired bras for daytime) - still fitting into stretchy next jeans etc. though i am looking on ebay - you've got me interested in IO stuff now!!!

divedaisy · 17/10/2008 13:37

Away to get DS from school. Hurrah! It's Friday!

SpangleMaker · 17/10/2008 13:45

I don't really need any mat clothes yet (apart from the fact I'm getting a bit too bulgy for my normal clothes) but I just couldn't wait

OP posts:
Jonesy68 · 17/10/2008 13:46

Can I be on your list too now I've joined your thread? My EDD is 20th May and I have a DS who is 5.10. Thnx!

I bought a fab dress from Oasis a few weeks ago that isn't mat wear but will def work for long time - grey knitted type, deep vee and lovely long sleeves. Will check out H&M tho, sounds good. Am still fitting into stretchy Espirit jeans but have to undo them in the eves! .

MrsEvs · 17/10/2008 13:56

OK, so I dug out all my maternity clothes last night. I've been managing fine with my normal clothes but a couple of things are getting a little snug. Tried a few things on and they are SOOOO comfy that now I don't want to wear anything else . Is that absolutely ridiculous? I'm only 8 weeks, and bean is still tiny at this point!! This is my 3rd so I know things "pop" a little faster but still - 8 weeks?!?! The other thing is that in my normal clothes I don't look pregnant, just like I'm getting a little porky (haven't actually put on any weight yet just changed shape), but in the maternity stuff, because it's tummy empasising, I actually look pregnant!

I was thinking that I would just pull out the early stretchy waistband stuff I have, but even the huge over the bump stuff feels comfy! I'm leaving for England today and am trying to pack. Do I really pack a load of maternity clothes?????

frazzledoldbag34 · 17/10/2008 14:04

My SIL has just been over for the morning, opened the door and said 'OH my god, you've got a proper BUMP!'. She's right and it's ridiculous - am only just about 10 wks!
Nausea has been getting better all week, thank God, am hoping that this is it on it's way out. Can't believe I'd be that lucky, last time it went on til at least 12 wks. With DD1 it was even longer I think, 15 or 16 wks I'm sure. Still tired though. And boobs tender.
I had a scan last week, and although it was all fine then, I keep thinking 'but that was last week.....' - paying for a private scan would only give you TEMPORARY peace of mind, you won't stop worrying!!! That's just the way of it unfortunately.

Interesting reading about the nuchals and the bloods - sounds very reassuring. Perhaps I should investigate this as an alternative to my CVS? Hospital hasn't mentioned it (they don't offer it here) - think I'd go to Edinburgh and have to pay. Anyone know anythiing about it in Scotland?
Have a good day everyone. Sun shining here!

Hello ladies hope you are all well!

I have just seen the midwife who mentioned that I should look into Maternity Allowance? I am a SAHM and gave my notice in two weeks ago now. I did have quite a high paid job and the midwife seems to think I will have made enough contirbutions I assume NI, any ideas or I am going to have to speak to DWP ..

Anyway all my symptoms have gone gone gone, have been frantically squeezing my bobs all afternoon and just getting waves of nausea not any sickness so god knows, my midwife is one of those that just laughs at you when you worry! - she said that I have had a healthy baby and not to worry also I saw the heart beat at 7.5weeks so she said the chances of things going wrong all minimal!

Me and dh have decided that we are not having tests to determine abnormalities, we didn't with dd1 because we wouldn't have acted on the results. Also I am a worrier so if I got one of those 'maybe maybe not' results would be a mess all pregnancy! Good news from you guys that have had them though!

We are definitely not having twins, although I have a huge cyst on my right ovary, due to poly ovaries, that was the reasn apparently it took us so long to concieve Ruby.

Has anyone started thinking of baby names yet??? I just love Kiki for a girl we have a very plain surname so I think it is cool, I loe Barnaby for a boy too.. dh isn't impressed! .. looking forward to my weekly pizza hut tonight! Although my midwife did comment on my BMI it is low but she was my midwife we my pregnancy with Ruby and she said that I am about 5 points above last time! I don't care though at the end of the day I will loose it post baby! Although I think I am the only woman who can put weight breast feeding!!!

Jonesy68 · 17/10/2008 16:50

dandylioness yes the blood test measures hormone levels and tells you apparently fairly accurately how many weeks and days. Today the results read "53 to 54 days from first day of last period". That actually puts me abuot 8-10 days b4 where I am but who knows which day I actually conceived? We were on hols at the time! I am going with my dates though as I'd much rather be 9½ weeks than 7!!!
