My 2-nearly-three year old is waking up too. she yells and runs down the hall to us, half awake. she says she wants the light on so we turn one on for her then she goes straight back to sleep. on her worst nights, she wakes up yelling about four times. i hope this phase is over soon and especially before next may!

pulapula · 15/10/2008 14:18

Nikkie, Glad the bean is looking good and that you know what was causing the pain.

Feel shattered (emotionally and physically)- have been with DS (15 mo) at the local childrens hospital from yesterday evening til lunchtime today. Been sent home with an inhaler, steriods, anti-biotics and calpol. Poor little mite. He's having a well-deserved rest now after being woken every hour or so for meds and obs and by crying babies in the night. Oh no, he's coming round...

Momino · 15/10/2008 15:04

hugs to you and DS pulapula. Hope he's on the mend and hope you get some rest.

I have experienced some slight brown discharge this afternoon. I didn't get this with my two previous pregnancies and am a bit worried about it. Is this spotting? Or does that have to be bright red? Sorry if tmi. Should I be worried?

Momino · 15/10/2008 16:17

agooboo, do you have any cramping or pains? has the spotting ceased or too soon to tell?
most likely nothing to worry about but do give MW a ring to put your mind at ease if it continues and maybe they could arrange a scan.

FKelly · 15/10/2008 16:26

MrsEvs it could well be... he didn't really start shouting until after he got bored and lonely.

It crossed my mind he might possibly be getting cold... as this has only been happening since the weather got more autumnal & he chucks off his duvet. So went out today and bought a very snuggly sleep suit... definitely worth a shot!

Today has been an interesting day... he's grisly and grumpy because of being up last night & I feel like that too with nausea thrown in to boot. So we went out to join a friend and her little one for tea and cake and some retail therapy

agooboo · 15/10/2008 16:29

I have had some aching like a dull pain really low down. I haven't registered with the midwife yet as they won't see you until you are 10 weeks anyway- only just got the wee sample bottle to do tomorrow.

FKelly · 15/10/2008 16:36

agooboo i'd phone the mw if you want to... Is this about the time you'd normally have had your period? When pregnant with DS last time I had spotting when my period was due for the first 3 months or so... & it was quite heavy.

Everytime it happened I had to phone the mw and they got me in for a scan... turned out to be a blood clot between the placenta and the uterine wall which was absorbed as everything grew... eventually. Didn't half make me nervous but the extra scans were nice to have though.

Momino I never thought of a light... I've got a couple of plug in night lights so next time/if it happens i'll give that a go

FKelly · 15/10/2008 16:39

pulapula big squeezy hugs to you all and hope he & you have a more restful night at home... as best as you can till he's better.

agooboo · 15/10/2008 17:16

momino and FKelly It is about the time my period would be due (give or take a few days). Discharge seems to have stopped but I have some mild cramping.

aquababe · 15/10/2008 18:15

Nicky glad your scan went well

pulapula hope your littleone gets better soon

agooboo hope it all stops soon. It's a very stressful time. Definitely phone mw and try for a scan you'll only be worrying till you do. take it easy tonight though. feet up.

Hello to all the newbies.

Had my booking in appointment with mw. Didn't go great she took off two of the three days I'd added on to my dd. Which is annoying as she was the bint that sent me in early for an induction even though she knew i didn't want one. Looks like I'll be having the odd arguement in May.

Also have terrible cold at the mo (probably caught from the blooming docs waiting room)

Anyone know what i can take aside from honey and lemon and more blooming ginger?

CoteDAzur · 15/10/2008 18:26

We've got heartbeat!

Little bean is 11 mm (0.43 inch), with its sweet little heart beating at 135 bpm.

It turns out that I must have ovulated a bit late. I thought I would be 8 weeks tomorrow but was dated as 7+2. So it now looks like my due date might be early June.

SpangleMaker · 15/10/2008 19:13

Congratulations Cote - it's lovely & reassuring to see that little flicker

Nuchal went well! Bean was fast asleep to begin with hands brought up to its face so I had to do lots of coughing and the sonographer plenty of prodding, but eventually we woke it up and it started wriggling away, tugging on the cord and using my womb as a trampoline All limbs, organs etc present & correct, saw the nasal bone immediately. Thickest nuchal measurement was 1.1mm giving a risk of 1:4200. Got to wait until tomorrow for bloods & full results but fingers crossed they will be good too

Oh and hb was 164bpm, will have to check against Cote's theory.

Cote and Spangle - Congrats on seeing your little beans! Such great news. Glad everything is ok.

Still cramping a bit so if it continues tomorrow will ring mw. Still suffering with ms and fatigue so I am hoping that is a good sign? Also can't face any food other than Kellogs 'Just Right' and Ovaltine. Who ever suggested Ovaltine on here - thank you! It has been just what I have needed!

FKelly - hope the sleep suit works. Anything is worth a try!

Jools1 · 15/10/2008 21:06

Spanglemaker - I just love your description of the scan and having to wake beanie up

detsy · 15/10/2008 21:27

Hallo everyone and congrats on the good scans today

I told my boss my news today (bought him a chocolate muffin too...) he was fine but of course not a lot he can say really is there? So thats a load off my mind, now just waiting for my NT scan at end of the month...

Really tired as had a long day 7am drive to london and then on way home bloody m6 was shut just at my junction, grrrrrr so 7pm home. Worth it tho to be greeted by my giggly excited baby girl - she said duck quack quack - what a greeting

pulapula · 15/10/2008 21:53

I told my boss a couple of weeks ago (at only 6 weeks). She'd just told me I didn't get the job I went for and we were discussing career plans etc so it seemed like a good time (she knew we were ttc so guessed as soon as I started saying it!).

Otherwise I've only told a couple of friends. Think we'll wait until after the scan (7 Nov) for everyone else.

It will be really hard to tell my sister. She has been ttc since 2004, and has had a few unsuccessful attempts at IVF (paying £3-5k each time too). And heres me with 2 DC and one on the way within the same time period. She is in the middle of her latest (possibly last treatment) and I really really hope that it works (both for her/her husband and also to ease my guilt at being able to conceive so easily).

detsy · 15/10/2008 22:01

I know its really difficult situation - i've been through this with one of my closest friends and it doesn't help that her husband is a real neanderthal pillock. It's hard not to feel guilty but then we shouldn't feel guilty about our own good fortune I suppose. Good luck telling your sis, i'm sure she'll be delighted for you x

detsy · 15/10/2008 22:03

And then on the other hand one of my antenatal friends went through 4 rounds of IVF unsuccessfully, then they gave up and resigned themeselves to being childless. Within the next month she had conceived naturally so I suppose there is always a little light at the end of tunnel - which is bloody easy for me to say.

I hope she gets her wishes

My sister was fine about DD as she had only just started ttc herself. But DS was harder for her. Her DHs sister has a 18 month old and recently announced she was pg and this really got my sister down as they were in the middle of IVF. She also suffers from depression so I am worried it will be too much. The last 2 attempts have been particularly difficult as she got through the full 2ww and was sure when she tested it was going to be BFP.

Thanks for the well wishes for my DS. He seems much better in himself, but still isn't sleeping well. Would love a good night sleep but we have to give him meds every 4 hours which means 11 and 3.

MrsEvs · 15/10/2008 22:36

pulapula hope you are feel better soon, it is so emotionally draining when the little ones are sick

agooboo - I had the brown discharge and some period pain like feelings when my period was due with both previous pregnancies and all was well, but agree with others that you should definately call the MW if it goes on tomorrow.

Congrats Cote and Spangle glad your scans went well. If the heartbeat theory works does that mean Cote has a boy and Spangle a girl!?! Only time will tell I guess. I have to say though I have been in a playgroup with 9 women since DD1 was 6 months old and we were all pregnant with our 2nds together, and it was spot on for us! All those under 140 were boys - all those over were girls

FiKelly · 15/10/2008 22:40

BTW not trying to confuse but FKelly seemed tad impersonal... so now you'll see me as FiKelly instead... not much of a change but I think it's better

LoobyLou36 · 16/10/2008 07:31

I feel really sick, can't work out if it's ms or nerves due to my scan this morning. Appointment at 10.20.
