Cote - thanks for the Gap tip.
Aren't you still getting your headaches then?
If you're worried, could you do a pregnancy test?

Doris - sorry, not quite sure what you mean by falling out of your clothes - I guess you mean they should be getting tight by now? I'm due the end of May too (the 25th) and would be very happy if my jeans weren't tight - seems too soon!

Dandelioness · 05/10/2008 20:13

Febes - I get nausea first thing too (about 7:30pm) then again at around 4:30pm-5pm. I could really do with an afternoon nap around that time as I get SO tired, but unfortunately there's DD to look after. If only I could crave a nap during the mornings when she's at preschool, but no.

detsy · 05/10/2008 20:14

Ok then this CM stuff - what colour is it - sorry to be gross but kinda need to know.

I remember having more "stuff" last time but this time its a different colour (yellow ish and quite thick - sorry way TMI but no smell at all). I meant to mention it at booking appt but forgot being the ditsy mare I am.

Sorry....

detsy · 05/10/2008 20:21

Oh Febes you lucky lucky girl. I crave being a SAHM but don't think I can due to big £ issues of our own creating. But as you say childcare is so ridiculous so we will have to do some thinking I guess!

GreenFingeredMummy · 05/10/2008 20:26

Thanks SpangleMaker, Im hoping to do my practical before December, so far so good, need to drive with two kiddies, dont want to try taking them both on a bus!

At 6 weeks with dd I was in maternity jeans, bigger bras etc. Im really slim for my height and my clothes tended to by quite tight, so there was no room for growth at all. However, this times totally different. My new saggy belly obviously has more room in it so isnt bulging yet, and my very small boobs only just fitted my bra, so now they're just right. Wont be too long before I hit the maternity clothes though. Size 8's dont last long, lets hope I fit them when babys born I absolutely love Blooming Marvellous' clothes this year. Gonna get the mack which looks very smart indeed.

One tip to all you first timers, start slapping on the vitamin E cream to belly and bust, you will feel much better, less tight and fingers crossed no stretch marks at the end. They should sell it as magic cream - and much cheaper than BioOil too!

Febes sorry to hear about your unsupportive boss. Being a SAHM is great, but you defo need to schedule time to yourself, even if thats work (I have a cleaning company to get me out of the house occasionally), esp with another lo as well. Theres plenty of us out there, what better than looking after your lo. I might take it all back once Ive had my second lo tho'

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 05/10/2008 20:26

Dandelioness- yes I did mean too tight it usually relates to me falling out of my bra as one of the first things to show!

detsy - not really having a huge amount of anything cm wise although I'm sure that changed at different points throughout the last 2 preegnancies.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 05/10/2008 20:29

Febes- I gave up work after no 2 we took a 2/3 drop in income ( I was earning double dh but with the risk of being deployed once LO was 1yr) It has been difficult and we have had to change our priorities but I love being at home and with CTC etc it makes it just about manageable.

detsy · 05/10/2008 21:01

Just been off researching shades of CM and am feeling better now! Oh the delights of pregnancy.

Have noticed the change in the big O too - albeit infrequently, tho did perform some primary conjugals in the kitchen this afternoon whilst DD was snoozing. That should be me in the clear for a week at least

detsy · 05/10/2008 21:54

Is everyone in bed with their fleecy blankies?? I'm feeling lonely...!

bekkaboo · 05/10/2008 22:24

no but will bein a bit, so sick again tonight, i cant cope!

chubbymummy · 05/10/2008 22:26

Not been around for a few days so I thought I'd pop in and see how everyone is doing.
So glad to hear that loads of you are in maternity clothes already, I tried on a pair of my maternity jeans that I thought wouldn't fit me for at least another couple of months and was shocked to find they fit like a glove! I also realised how much more comfortable they are than the pants I've been shoehorning myself into for the past few weeks. So that's it, I'm officially in maternity pants now.

GreenFingeredMummy · 06/10/2008 10:23

Thought I would say a big good morning to all, hope everyone feeling a bit better this morning. I'm stealing a few minutes as dd has gone for her nap early, think she might be coming down with something which is all I need!

Jools1 · 06/10/2008 10:30

Good Morning all

Lovely and sunny today Still on a high from telling my parents they might be grandparents soon. First MW appt next Monday

Feeling positive rather than paranoid this morning

Febes · 06/10/2008 11:21

Morning everyone!!! Feeling good this morning although have hurled in the bath . Hope you are all feeling good. 10 weeks this week for me .

Fryn · 06/10/2008 11:37

Morning everyone!
Feeling rough as a badger's a*se today - didn't realise being pregnant would mean I'd just feel hungover the entire time. And my lovely BF said "oh yes, that lasts until you finish breast feeding"! Excellent.

Febes poor you - hurling is bad enough, but in the bath!

GreenFingered thanks for the vitamin E tip - I've been liberally spreading on the cocoa butter, but the smell makes me want to barf, so will head to Boots later!

Saw the nurse this morning to arrange for the scan and booking in appointment, and she made me sign something saying I wanted the testing for any chromosomal abnormalities, without really telling me anything about it. I presumed it was just the nuchal test thingy, but after reading some of the discussions earlier, I'm not sure! I presume I can refuse them at a later stage if I want (sorry, probably very daft thing to say, but brain is finding it hard to concentrate on anything whilst I'm trying not to spew on my keyboard!!)

May I just point out that cocoa butter feels/smells nice but does not work at all in preventing stretch marks? I know several people who used it religiously and got horrendous stretch marks.

I used Biotherm's stretch mark cream during last pregnancy and didn't get a single stretch mark.

Febes · 06/10/2008 11:49

I used bio oil in my last pregnancy and got awful stretch marks so I think if you are prone to them you get them and if you aren't you don't no amount of oils or creams will make much difference.

CoteDAzur · 06/10/2008 12:03

What makes you so sure that you wouldn't get stretch marks, at least not as many & as bad, if you had used a different product? I'm curious.

My mother used almond oil (not much else available at the time) and has lots of stretch marks on her sides. I don't.

I'm sure genetics plays a part in it, but it is also entirely possible to improve your chances, imho.

Fryn · 06/10/2008 12:54

I was reading somewhere that if you're going to get stretch marks, you're going to get them whatever you do. I suspect I'm doomed anyway as I have stretch marks from when I lost weight when I was younger. To be honest, another few won't make much difference (and the way I'm feeling at the moment, DH won't be going anywhere near me for the next zillion years as this is ALL HIS FAULT, so I don't need to worry about looking dreadful when naked!!!)

MsG · 06/10/2008 13:41

I seem to have dropped off the list so adding myself back on.
I am full of cold at the moment and feeling sorry for myself. Still keep analysing everything and wondering if I really am pregnant. (Had m/c last year.) I hope I get a date for my scan soon, although I know it won't be until around 12 weeks.

Hello everyone!

People seems pretty chirpy this week despite a few siccups!

I've also got loads of stretch marks from huge boob growing when I was in my teens. Am embarrased by how big they are at the best of times, am scared at the prospect of what they'll be like later!

frazzledoldbag34 · 06/10/2008 14:34

Does anyone else find they need to take really big deep breaths quite a lot? Am finding myself doing this alot and sound like a heavy-breather! It's a bit disconcerting, but if I don't breathe in really deeply I feel like I'm not getting enough air.......very weird. I read somewhere it's because of increased blood volume......or something? Anyway just wondered if it's just me being weird?

Yeah, I'm having to breath deeply too. It's because we're producing more blood for the little 'un. I get really out of breath easily - it's embarrassing!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 06/10/2008 14:40

Ok ok i am now with everyone MS has finally hit, (like a 40 tonne truck I might add) , I feel as "rough as a badger arse" (thanks for that Fryn)

I have to say I'm in the if it makes you feel nice and pampered go for the stretch mark stuff camp, but definitely do not expect it to work, dh's very loving (it better be) nickname for me following the births of dd1 and 2 was tigermumy due to my tiger stripes!!! On a postive note over the past 14 months they have been fading and were down to a really faint sunburst over my belly button, oh well that's not going to last now is it!

jools pleased the sharing went well!
