Just thinking there about my MIL and her reaction when we told her I was pg with DD1. I was SO excited, but when we told her she just looked at me and went 'Oh, that's nice'. Then didn't mention it for about another 4MONTHS or so. But then she is a bit strange.
Think she'll be really shocked when we tell her about this one - apparently she's been telling everyone that her daughter will DEFINITELY have another and that I DEFINITELY WILL NOT! Hee hee.

runningmonkey · 02/10/2008 16:43

Hi All,
Just checking in. Lousy night last night, kept waking up, felling rubbish, needing the loo and worrying. Don't feel too bad today although have had a bizarre need for some supernoodles (which I am now eating)

Don't think it helped watching supernanny and marvelling at the atrocious 9 year old. Me and DH were laughing our heads off then looked at each other with a 'what if ours turns out like that' look of horror on our faces!!!

Got my scan appt today Nov 12th... am going to go crazy with anticipation until then. Am so worried something is going to go wrong.

Jools - was going to say the same thing as everyone else and it looks like you made up your mind. I told my ma last weekend and she was made up.

Right off to finish my supernoodles and then am going to brave yoga.

MrsEvs · 02/10/2008 16:53

Hello All

Hope I'm not too late to join in - am amazed at the amount of posts already! I tentatively looked today expecting to just see a few, but you're onto a 2nd thread already!!

Anyway , by my calculations - all being well - I'm due May 28th. I have 2 girls already 2 & 4. I had no problems at all with them, but in the last 6 months have m/c very early 3 times . Am pretty much at 6 weeks now though and haven't got this far the other times. Plus because of the history my doc did HCG quants to check the numbers were going in the right direction and they are happily doubling away so all looks good!!

Have had ridiculously sore boobs for a while now, total pregnancy fog (spilt wine on lappy, left handbag in shopping center and lost a $50 metro card (I live in Wash DC, but am from Liverpool), and that was just last weekend!), and am nauseous during the night esp when I'm lying down - weird! I am also exhausted during the day, bones made of lead, but when I finally collapse in bed have terrible insomnia and restless legs - arggghhhh!

I tried to read a little bit about everyone but it really was a bit overwhelming, so apologies if I ask/discuss things that have already been covered

Off to pick up DD2 from preschool - look forward to chatting with you all

Overtiredmum · 02/10/2008 17:26

Hi all, just thought I'd pop on to say and give a little update as I haven't posted since I joined you all! Have been catching up on the thread as and when I get time (which doesn't seem very often at the moment!!).

Am now 9+3 and am hoping (fingers crossed) that I am starting to turn the corner. Not feeling quite so tired this week and although still feeling sick quite often, I think more often than not its hunger as opposed to ms. Am still only able to eat what I fancy because of smells etc (McDonalds has been doing a roaring trade out of me for the last two weeks!! Bad, I know!!)

Got my booking in appointment next Thursday and my 12 week scan is on 21 October, I think only then will I truly believe DC2 really exists!!! DS1 is being great at the moment and every morning sings Twinkle Twinkle to my tummy, which is so cute.

Hope everyone is else OK.

SlippersAndPipe · 02/10/2008 19:09

Hi all. Am one of these long time lurkers and rarely posts. Am 10 weeks today and this last two days I have felt so much better. I worked out that in the past six weeks, there are only 5 days where I haven't vomited, and no spotting for a fortnight. So hope I'm turning a corner now. I've lost 5lbs but am considering a pizzas for tea!

Went for my booking in yesterday and saw a lovely midwife. I too was asked where I wanted to give birth, and was even asked if I'd given any thoughts to the birth itself. I had an emergency cs undere general with dd which was pretty traumatic, but sasid I didn't know the local hospitals policy on VBAC. She went on to say they were fine but continual monitoring. Which is what I don't want. Well, at least a few months to come to terms with it.

I've got my nuchal scan booked in a fortnight and have bloods taken for it tomorrow.

God I can waffle on. Hope you are all ok.

CoteDAzur · 02/10/2008 19:26

I'm knackered. It feels like I haven't slept in days, and I have some sort of headache above my eyes that feels like there is a weight there. Does anyone have this?

That is still the only symptom I have, so probably shouldn't complain.

SpangleMaker · 02/10/2008 19:41

Welcome MrsEvs and congratulations DH & I went to Washington DC a few years ago for a conference (with my work) & managed to stay on a couple of days. We loved it even though it was -6 dec C the whole time we were there - gorgeous and sunny though. Would love to go back some time. Do you enjoy living there?

Slippers nice to 'see' you again, glad you are feeling a bit better. Hopefully you can relax a bit more now the spotting has stopped. I've had much less over the last couple of weeks - every 3/4 days. Last time was on Monday, fingers crossed I don't get any more.

Cote tired and headachey here too - back of my head though.

Hi to everyone else

detsy · 02/10/2008 21:09

Hi All and welcome to the newbies who have joined. So many May babies! I have my booking in appt tomo at the hospital (9+1) and my NT scan is booked for 30 Oct so a few weeks off yet. No major symptoms still - grumpy, sore boobs, tired, cramps.

I'm having baths as I love baths - I think the hot water thing is for really hot water (hot tub hot). DD and I have great fun in the bath and am not giving that up! Would also not be worried about the cat on my tummy (but then I don't have a cat altho I'd like one, )

I used wheat bags and hotties in my last pg but I did do some research about laptop radiation (yeah I know!!) I even had a special pg heart shaped pink hottie but have since lost the stopper... I've also stopped using my Liz Earle energising body stuff which they recommend due to the essential oils content. Am off to purchase some MamaMio stuff instead. For new mums to be their BOOB TUBE is the most amazing stuff ever.

Right off for something soft and fizzy and some more beetroot....

detsy · 02/10/2008 21:10

Oh 4Head is good for hormone headaches as I didn't/don't like taking paracetemol. Unsure if yuo can get that in France tho Cote

detsy · 02/10/2008 21:11

Spangle what date is your NT scan?

Jools1 · 02/10/2008 21:11

What was that about radiation ??

detsy · 02/10/2008 21:19

Jools LOL - it was me being a mentalist with my last pg - nothing at all to worry about

Jools1 · 02/10/2008 21:20

Phew !!

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 02/10/2008 21:26

hi all, hope everyones doing ok?

ive just felt so terrible over the last two days this headache is nearing unberable!!! gonna try 4head 2moro and also heard of soothing like forehead cooling pads or something for migraines gonna give them ago coz anything gotta be worth i try coz cant handle this head pain anymore!! been making me feel sick too although havent been sick yet!!!

well thats my moan over!!!

take care all

detsy · 02/10/2008 21:33

I had the headache last time - they are killers but 4 head really worked. I think its the same company that make the pads too. I also got a gel filled eye mask and used to keep that in the fridge (once the baby was born I needed gel filled much bigger version for my boobs - but that was also great!)

detsy · 02/10/2008 21:35

Oh and you can also get gel filled panty liner things for post birth cooling of the old lady garden also brilliant

You can see I'm a big fan of gel filled items LOL

detsy · 02/10/2008 21:38

And finally, whoever was after a maternity coat - they have them in JoJo Mamam on line and also Isabella Oliver (but they are a bit of a silly price)

Am off to do something else now I promise - sorry for going on (and on...)

Momino · 02/10/2008 21:51

detsy or anyone - could you explain what boob tube stuff is actually for? At the moment, even with early pregnancy, i still have nothing to fill my A cups though I know this will change in the next 7+ months. would this stuff help me?

detsy · 02/10/2008 21:55

Hi Momino, boob tube is a cream that helps boobs regain a bit of perkiness - a really luxurious skin elasticising cream that smells yummy. It won't make your boobs grow but if you're anything like me (B cup to E...OMG) and then stayed at a less perky D cup - this stuff is great. It can be used thru pregnancy tho I only discovered it afterwards. Hope that helps and I'm sure your A cups will be overflowing soon!!

Momino · 02/10/2008 22:39

thanks Detsy. even though they're just a's, they have lost their liveliness after bf two babes so far so boob tube sounds like my saving grace. at least for my top half.

now, is there any miracle cream for the vericose vein that appeared with 2nd pregnancy and didn't go away??

MrsMonkey · 03/10/2008 00:29

Hi all,

Sorry to say but it doesn't look like good news for me and I have taken myself off the list.

I had some bleeding last night. Panicked a bit as you do. Eventually calmed down and went into a 24-hr clinic. They did a scan and the sac was there, but no sign of a baby. Dr wouldn't rule out that it could just be very small for dates but I don't know if I want to keep on hoping. I would be about 6 weeks +4 days Had a blood test and will have another first thing tomorrow - so will know early tomorrow morning whether I am still pregnant or not.

Wishing all the best to all of you and happy, healthy pregnancies all round. x

MrsMonkey - I hope you received good news this morning.

Jennster · 03/10/2008 08:22

Sorry to hear Mrsmonkey take care.

Momino, get some support stockings from the Dr. I've worn them for 9 years because I stand all day. They are really comfy and stop your veins getting worse.

Going to see the midwife today for my first contact. Think I'm 9 weeks today. My colleagues now know as they sussed when I had the migraine.

CoteDAzur · 03/10/2008 08:25

detsy - What is 4head? DB lives in UK and he might be able to send me some. It's not a permanent dagger in the head like last time, thank heavens, but this pressure/weight over my eyes. The scientist in me wants to Google temporal lobe ailments during pregnancy but I resisted it so far (that way madness lies)

Jools1 · 03/10/2008 09:12

So sorry to read your message MrsMonkey - fingers crossed for better news today.

Cote - info on the 4head stuff here I haven't ever used it myself, but it sounds good. I am sure that Boots must stock it - perhaps you could order online ?
