Morning everyone!
MrsMonkey so sorry to hear what's happened. Let's hope the news is better after the blood tests.

I have to say I'm loving this forum - who'd have thought I'd ever be so excited to hear about gel-filled panty liners!

farrah · 03/10/2008 11:11

MrsMonkey, I hope it's all OK. Big hug going out to you...

MrsMonkey · 03/10/2008 11:20

Thanks all for your kind thoughts. I'm not actually in the UK, so am on a different time zone, which is confusing.

It is evening here now - I will be going in for a blood test in the morning - the middle of the night for you! Feeling a bit more positive now as haven't had any cramping or any more bleeding today.

I have been feeling the same nausea as I have been all week, so not sure whether to be reassured by that. Seeing the empty sac and the bleeding was so scary for us. My Dr said that the sac looked a good shape though and that he wasn't about to give up on it yet so we just have to hope that the bean is in there somewhere, just a bit small.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 03/10/2008 13:23

Mrs monkey Have my fingers crossed for you here too, I hope you get good news tomoorow ( tonight? i'm confused!!!)

Fryn I am a huge fan of the "ladygarden gel pads" better known as feme pads I had them with dd1 on the advice of a mw and omg did they make things feel better, had a "graze" which was "uncomfortable" to say the least! They're about £15 from boots although saying that dd2 popped out and I diodn't really need them at all.

This time I wnt to get the boob wants as I'm sick of smelling of boiled cabbage 2-3 days in,

Feeling more queasy today seeing that as a good sign as I was v. concerned by the lack of symptom tiredness also kicked in last night.

CoteDAzur · 03/10/2008 13:32

I'm finding it a challenge to get through the day. Mornings are quite good, but once I have lunch I am dead. Feeling sooo heavy, and it's hard to stay awake with this pressure directly above my eyes.

Also, I can't be bothered to eat anything. Could that be my body's understanding of morning sickness?

Fryn · 03/10/2008 16:15

DorisIsAPinkDragon (that's a name and a half!) thanks for that tip - I wasn't entirely sure what you'd look up when googling such things!! This will be No. 1 for me, so I fully intend to buy everything possible, just in case!

Just had lunch with a friend, who's 21 weeks, and she guessed as soon as she saw me (and my boss said she'd guessed too!) So much for keeping it a secret. I wonder if I'm giving off a strange smell or something

CoteDAzur hope you're feeling better soon. I'm cream crackered, but still managing to eat everything in sight, so the opposite problem really!

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 03/10/2008 16:34

hi all,

hope you recieve good news mrsmonkey, be thinking of you.

i can totally empathise wiv the tiredness im so tired i cant quite believe it! i have a whole nights sleep (although it is abit disturbed wiv toilet trips) then DF has been getting up and letting me lie in abit and then ive been having a nap on days DS is at pre-school and im still cream crackered by about 7pm if not earlier!

thanx for the headache, boobs and lady garden advise lol detsy! very helpful.

the headache is actually slightly better today bout wont speak too soon!

divedaisy · 03/10/2008 18:52

Cote, it sounds as if you could have sinusitis. The heavy weight above, and sometimes below your eyes. Eyes feel heavya dn can be sensitive to light. I had this earlier this week and all I could take for it was paracetamol. Normally would take psuedofed, but not sure if it's safe... Top tip - boil kettle, pour into a bowl and add few drops of oilatum, or menthol oil, lean over bowl with a towel over your head and BREATHE! Oh it's lovely and will un block your sinuses! Few drops of oilatum on your pillow at bed time too.

I haven't told anyone except DH about this pregnancy. Mainly cos we lost our last one arond 8/9 weeks. Though I think mum knows... a few weeks ago when my top lip swelled up and I ended up in A&E, she arrived in my cubicle and I'm sure she noticed my jeans undone and the belly hanging out!!! I'd like to try to wait until 20 week scan when we tell DS, and then let him tell his nan 'I'm going to be a big brother'!!! Downside... I can't suck it in for that long! Things are definately 'out there!'

For all of you who want to slap my DH for his comments on the amount I'm eating - thanks for your support. He unfortunately is aware of food content as he is an ex-boxer and is a bit of a fitness freek. I understand what he means. After DS was born I had very bad PND and we both want to avoid that again, so he doesn't want me to 'feel bad about myself' which I may do if I feel fat and frumpy. I have tried to start walking. I go to my shop after I leave DS off at school and try to go for an hours walk before opening up. I find it hard cos I feel breathless - find it hard at times to get a deep breath - everything feels squished up and stuffed. But I really am trying to eat regularly and as healthy as possible, so today I've had:
Breakfast
grapefuit - 1 small bowl
2 shredded wheat (with sugar and milk)
1 small banana
Lunch
bowl of stew (with loads of daddy's brown sauce!! Yum Yum!)
1 pear
1 chewy sweet (from Lidl)
Dinner
2 bacon & fried mushrooms wraps with hot gooseberry relish
1 rhubarb yoghurt
some cups of weak tea and sprite.

sorry about the ramble!!

1 cheese string (dipped into above yoghurt)

divedaisy · 03/10/2008 18:55

MrsMonkey - any news?? Thinking of you xx

divedaisy · 03/10/2008 19:00

Oh I am so cold! I think when I get DS into bed I'll have an early night.

If anyone is in the Belfast area you must go to the Enchanted Garden at Botanic Gardens this weekend. £3 adult £2 child. Go and make your Fairy Wishes! Bring a torch and look carefully amongst the trees and bushes - there are fairies awaiting! Have a lovely evening!!

frazzledoldbag34 · 03/10/2008 19:05

Fingers crossed mrsmonkey
Just been out for tea with SIL and family. Feel so much better as just ate huge bowl of pasta and then some ice cream. Nausea has temporarily disappeared! Am sure it'll be back in about 1/2 hour though.
Feel like it must be obvious that I'm pg - my stomach is HUGE! And am eating loads (which I don't usually). Will tell everyone next Thurs (assuming the scan is fine that is).
Off to put kids to bed now.
May come back to witter on some more later though.

CoteDAzur · 03/10/2008 19:07

divedaisy - Thank you for the sinusitis tips, but I am fairly sure that is not what I have because:
(1) I had sinusitis many times and it's not the same feeling
(2) This pressure starts at about noon, along with terrible tiredness

It feels like the dull headache around your eyes that you get when you haven't slept all night studying for an exam. I'm fine in the mornings. It's the afternoons that are killing me.

SpangleMaker · 03/10/2008 19:20

divedaisy that sounds pretty healthy to me! Have to say I'm about the cheese string dipped in rhubarb yoghurt, but then I've been known to eat some pretty strange things myself and not even while pg

I had an ex who was an ex-boxer. He used to give me some lessons - excellent exercise & good fun too. I'd run a mile in any RL confrontation but I'm pretty hot at the Wii sports boxing - to the amazement of DH and his friend (whose Wii it was) I knocked out everyone in the first round - hee hee!

MrsMonkey fingers crossed for you, I really hope you get some good news x

detsy my nuchal scan is on 15 October (I'll be 11+3). Seems really soon and I'm getting a little bit nervous. Changing the subject, do you think that's the case with all the Liz Earle stuff or just the energising thing? I was just thinking of treating myself to some LE or Speizia stuff, because it's all natural etc but am now a little paranoid about the essential oils issue. Aaargh so many things to fret about!

Who was it who mentioned flapjacks the other day? Had one on the train today and was in HEAVEN!!

OP posts:
frazzledoldbag34 · 03/10/2008 19:33

divedaisy - that sounds fab unfortunately am nowhere near Belfast. DD1 would absolutely love that.
I am also permanently freezing - why is this? Don't remember feeling this in my last pg's Quite fancy a nice warm bath then bed with electric blanket and good book! God, how dull do I sound?
By the way my latest 'cure' for the dreaded nausea is bananas - they seem to be the only sure way to feel more human! It's a struggle to get the first couple of bites down, but then once I've done that I feel so much better. Apparently they are high in B6 so maybe that's part of it. Some days I feel ghastly (yesterday and day before) and then days like Monday and today I still feel rubbish but in comparison much better. So weird the way it comes and goes. Just wish it would GO and STAY GONE.
Cote sorry you're suffering. Perhaps it's a hormonal thing? Hormones can cause horrid headaches in 1st trimester. I would say take a couple of paracetamol (safe to take) and also do try and get some of that 4-head stuff - I've used that before and it worked for me.
Am considering having a session or two of acupuncture to see if it can help the nausea.....anyone tried it? My SIL is a physio and does acupuncture with that - not sure if she'd be able to do it for morning sickness? (and then of course I'd have to tell her am pg!) Maybe I'll go see a chinese practitioner (there are a couple where I live)....any advice?
Sorry for the long post
DD1 in bed, DD2 staring open-mouthed at The Simpsons!

divedaisy · 03/10/2008 20:05

Frazzled - it is lovely. We took ds last night and he loved it. His nan phoned tonight and she was going to ask him to go cos she saw it in the local paper - so he's going again tomorrow night and he's staying over! How fab is this! DS and DH away at the same time - OH Bed Bliss!! Love bananas too! I ate one today in 3 bites !!!

Cote - sorry it's not sinusitis.xx I too have been having headaches - I touhgt it was sinusitis, but maybe it's more hormonally related? Also ensure you're drinking enough - dehydration can cause them too.

I see MW on Tuesday!! WOW! I've been trying to stay calm about everything, now I'm beginning to get butterflies!

And yes I too have very bad wind - both ends !!

TapasQueen · 03/10/2008 20:10

Hi everyone. May I join you too? Just found out that I'm pregnant on Tues - it will be our 1st - due 19 May.

I thought it would be harder for me to get pregnant since I am not young (35) and convinced that I would be the one having problems conceiving, so, v happy to be here with you!

I must have been in denial, it seems like everyone else has known for weeks.

Divedaisy and Frazzledoldbag34 with you on being freezing, I keep thinking about buying blankets, those fake fur ones.

divedaisy · 03/10/2008 20:10

If asked, is anyone going to find out the sex of your child?

I found out with DS, but I kinda fancy a surprise this time...

divedaisy · 03/10/2008 20:11

Anyone here in the East Antrim area??

divedaisy · 03/10/2008 20:13

Hi TapasQueen - welcome! Oh why did you chose a name that relates to FOOD!!!!!

Don't worry there are plenty of us older mums on here. I'm 39, will be 40 when this pea emerges!!

TapasQueen · 03/10/2008 20:24

Thanks for welcome DiveDaisy!
I hold tapas fully responsible for my current state ( we had a very 'relaxing' weekend in Barcelona)!!! Since then, I've innocently gone on and on to my friends about Barcelona being my favorite place in the whole world, what a fantastic weekend we had, etc etc. Soon they'll realise I didn't actually see much of the city. But the tapas were delicious.

SpangleMaker · 03/10/2008 20:25

TapasQueen congrats & welcome I'm 37 and there are plenty of others here 35+.

divedaisy we'd like to find out. The way I see it, it's not going to change anything so I may as well know. Also we have a girl's name but cannot for the life of us think of a boy's, so out of sheer laziness we'll find out to save us thinking of a name if we don't have to.

OP posts:
frazzledoldbag34 · 03/10/2008 20:25

I'll find out the sex of the baby. Didn't with DD1. Did with DD2 (but didn't tell ANYONE NOT EVEN DH!)- he didn't want to know and is a blabbermouth anyway! I didn't want anyone else to know, just wanted to be prepared for myself. Was nice knowing actually - and having a big, fat secret all to myself! (how childish)

Having a CVS this time so will be asked if I want to know. Won't be able to say no this time!
(Said no, didn't want to know when phoned for amnio results with DD1. Then spent the rest of the pg thinking 'Damn, should have asked what it is!'. Was always convinced she was a girl anyway. I was right.

Still freezing. TapasQueen - was talking about buying one of those fur throw things for my bedroom yesterday! They are lovely.
Congrats on your pg! I take it you're feeling absolutely fine if you've only just found out! Unlike me, who has known for what feels like months already (and am still only about 8 wks if that!) God, this is going to be a long, long pregnancy. Anyway, Big Congrats to you and welcome!

CoteDAzur · 03/10/2008 20:34

I'm 37

I found out the sex with DD and will again this time. Ultrasound doctor told me at 12 week scan last time.

Seeing how many of us are no longer spring chickens on this thread, who else will have amnio?

TapasQueen · 03/10/2008 20:34

Hi Spanglemaker!

Haven't had much time to think this through, but I plan to find out. When my friend had her scan and found out it was a boy she named it immediately and told everyone. I don't know yet if I'll do the same, but I thought it was really nice for her to be so open about it - saves awkward question-dodging and polite silences.

divedaisy · 03/10/2008 20:34

Frazzled - whats CVS?? We found out with DS and only me and DH knew... or so we thought. I wasn't very good - every now and then i'd talk about 'him', so my mum knew but she didn't say anything! I'll probably change my mind though and find out!!

As for names - my DH wouldn't take it seriously! I'd be going through the baby name book making lists, and he come off with 'Sedgwyn Marmaduke Cecil' or other really appropriate names!!! So at the birth I instructed the MW that under no circumstances was my DH to name the baby! DS was called what I wanted to call him and DH said that was what he was going to be called all along, but he liked to wind me up! Great for pre-eclampsia!!!!

I have a lovely fleecy thick blanket over my bed. Got it from Next a few years ago. Cosy.
