Hi ladies, new thread as we seem to have outgrown the old one!

midwife update ... I turned 34wks on Monday, measuring 36wks, all blood tests fine, thinks the near fainting was blood sugar and that the pains last week in my hip/leg was baby laid on a nerve as hasnt happened since.

Midwife thinks (?) baby's head is "in the area" but not engaged yet and BACK TO BACK! Not again. If it ends up that baby doesn't move and is still back to back in labour then what can I do but get on with it like with DS but a little bit of me does hope that baby turns around. She calmly said "oh all it would mean is that labour could take longer and maybe slightly more painful". I thinking "i bloody know!".

But at least everything seems ok.

I've put 34wk bump photo's on my profile. Didn't know what to think when DH said regarding my front photo that my bump looks like a big tit!

DS stopped at my mum and dad's last night a woke up this morning with diarrhoea poor love. When I went to get DS he just wanted to cuddle and was quiet (?!). I said "shall we get some medicine" because he had a temp and he went in front of me walking, tripped up and banged his head on laminate floor. Poor love. I'm sure he is trying to take my most clumsy person in the world title.

To say DS has been poorly he has been really good all day until late this afternoon when he turned really naughty. But went to bed at 7.35 no probs after being really sweet with me, baby and DH.

vbab78 · 25/09/2008 22:25

forgot - Midwife asked me about my feeding choice for baby and I explained I want to try breastfeeding (again) and what happened with DS. She gave me some contact details for breastfeeding support and groups to go to before baby to "give me the best chance". So going to phone and get myself booked in.

sorry to hear that most of us have pains for parents or ILs. Also makes me feel quite normal. Had a ding dong with my mum before my midwife appointment but when I returned from the appointment we both just acted like it didnt happen. Which I suppose is good but the things she said were hurtful and part of me wanted to confront it. HEY HO.

childcare vouchers update - MY WORK HAVE PAID ME WRONG and I couldn't get in contact with the head of payroll so had to send an email! I sort of expected it but find it annoying as I left numerous contact details when I went on leave and even emailled the payroll guy on Monday to check things and he never responded. Basically they have reinstated the vouchers but have deducted it from my SMP which they are NOT meant to do under the new legislation. ARGH! Just dont need this.

Oblomov · 26/09/2008 07:48

Vbab, love your 'big tit' 34wks photo.
I had a photo of the face from my 32 wk scan on tues. Really nice. But a bit wiers aswell. Looks all kind of mummyfied.

ceebee74 · 26/09/2008 08:59

Morning everyone - hope we all had a good night's sleep!

Vbab - grrrr at the childcare vouchers, you would think they would have got it right after you brought it to their attention!! How bloody annoying for you - hope you manage to get in touch with someone soon about it!

I finish work 4 weeks today - god, that sounds ages

We are going away this weekend - our first and only break of 2008! I have booked a really posh hotel just outside Chester - it looks lovely but am a bit worried that all the guests will be uber-posh and not be impressed by a 2 year old running around causing chaos

Pinkali37 · 26/09/2008 09:24

Morning All,

Good picture Vbab! I notice your tummy buttom has popped out. Mine hasn't as yet, however is lying very flat but looks quite disgusting as I have had 3 Laparoscopies so it is quite scarred.

I am waking up every 2 hours on the dot for a wee and am getting so fed up of it. , although it does give me chance to practise the old pelvic floor muscles my weeing, holding for 5 secs, weeing and hold. How many other people think of this whilst weeing at 3am????? OH GOD I AM A NUTTER?!?!?!?!

I have decided that as of 37 weeks (p.s. I am 33 weeks today!!) i will be moving into the local indian restaurant, sipping delightful raspberry tea, sucking on fresh pineapple and doing my best to get interested in DH in the nooky way oh and booking in for reflexology.

Oblomov · 26/09/2008 09:30

My tummy button has popped. and you ALL know how much I don't like popped tummy buttons. YUK. It happened weeks ago. I just forgot didn't want to mention it.

Whose dh was it that was threatening divorce if their dw's popped ? Can't remmeber. He and I are in the same camp. Gross.

MonkeyMargot · 26/09/2008 09:41

Obs - thanks for admitting sharing with us your OUTIE belly button! I think they're brilliant!
Apologies for lack of manners, just finally caught up - and now have to go out as have got the dreaded NCT class today - ALL DAY from 10am-4pm, and same tomorrow. DH supposed to be coming but is too busy working today. He'll come tomorrow. Not sure what to expect - have heard some funny stories from friends...
Any road up - will no doubt catch up late this afternoon - keep on SCRABBLING!!!

ceebee74 · 26/09/2008 09:48

Monkey - have a great day - I bet you will all have a real laugh!

Obs - I am not keen on outty belly buttons either - fortunately mine has stayed in so far but is very shallow compared to normal! However, I have a scar just above my belly button as I had a belly piercing that got infected a few years ago and left a nasty scar - only, the scar has now tripled (at least) in size Looks bloody awful now as I have noticed 1 or 2 stretchmarks have started trailing out of it aswell!

Merry - got a lovely twin story for you. A mum at DS's nursery has just given birth to a boy and girl twin - she went full-term with them and they ended up taking her in as they weren't showing any signs of budging - they were both well over 6lbs - so you may hang on till November after all

Oblomov · 26/09/2008 09:55

Ceebee, I had my tummy pierced aswell. And I stupidily took it out, last pg. Not realising that I could put a little plastic thing in.
But no scar or anything. Infact you could hardly tell that I had ever had it done.

Nice to know we are all looking our best
Rite attractive.

Oblomov · 26/09/2008 09:57

Any one else got any nice physical peculiarities going on ?
Just so that we can all feel better about our 'beautifulness' ?

Anyone got anything growing, where it shouldn't be growing ?
Something that should be there, but isn't ?
Thining hair ?
Hair sprouting from toes and ears ?

coolkat · 26/09/2008 10:03

I got new baby hair growing around my forehead and it sticks up like Mr Majeka even my GHD's can't tame it. DH finds it most amusing!

ruthosaurus · 26/09/2008 10:18

Um, I don't know if this counts but I've had a small show this morning . Midwife says to keep a kick chart and to call them if my waters break or I start getting contractions or anything.

So I'm at work, thinking every tiny twinge and niggle is the onset of labour. I tried to pack a hospital bag this morning, just in case, but was too distracted.

Bummer on the bellybutton, Obs, I am also afeared of the pop. I have a placcy thing instead of my ring.

Pinky - got the top - yay! It's soooooo cute and I think it'll be fine for a girl or a boy. You are v ace

ceebee74 · 26/09/2008 10:36

Saurus - how exciting and scary for you! How many weeks are you??

ChocOrange05 · 26/09/2008 10:38

Morning all.

Loving the belly button conversation - I have been too scared to start it again! Mine feels like its on the verge of popping as its not an inny or outty but a flatty at the moment - I keep wondering if its going to make the move out!

Vbab your bump and belly button are fab!

I feel a bit this morning as I just took off my wedding rings and my nana's ring (put them on a chain round my neck). Has everyone else done this?? And non-first-timers, when can I put them back on?? On a bright note, DH is away on a stag weekend at the moment so I could go out as a single lady (sans rings)!!

Saurus thats so exciting - keep us up to date!!!

Pinkali apparently you need to eat 6/7 pineapples a day to help it kick start labour! DH has already offered to help out with my daily nipple stimulation from 37 weeks so my facebook status will be something like... "ChocOrange is playing with her nipples"

Oblomov · 26/09/2008 10:46

WOW Ruthosaurus, god this is so exciting. A SHOW. God, you are the first. Like ceebee says, how many wks are you now - god why can't you find the stats thread when you need it.

Choc, I took my rings off a few weeks ago. Am only wearing eternity ring. Puffiness did go down within few days of birth.

ruthosaurus · 26/09/2008 10:48

33+2 - if it starts now the mw told me that they will try to stop it with drugs. I am feeling a little worried about this because I dodn't really want to go down that route, but as mw said, it's not really up to me if the baby wants to come early!

God, what if it's because of the caffeine? I couldn't give up tea as it would have got in the way of being at all awake [guilt guilt guilt, of the non-Catholic variety]

Choc, I daren't take my rings off as I broke my gold chain last week and have nothing to hang them on. Anyway, wearing them round your neck is v Sex and the City - remember when Carrie was wearing her rings like that and they were trying to pretend that SJP wasn't pg? Bit of a giveaway.

Lordy, can you imaging the state of your guts if you ate 6/7 pinapples a day? That would definitely cure ANY consitpation...

OP posts:
ceebee74 · 26/09/2008 10:49

Choc - I took my wedding/engagement ring off at about 7 months pg with DS - 2 and a half years later, I have still not put them back on Although this is mainly because I never managed to shift the excess pg weight from first time round so they just don't fit (double ). DH keeps on at me to get them adjusted but I can't bring myself to do it as that will just be an admission that I will be big forever!

Pinkali37 · 26/09/2008 10:52

Sauraus... YIKES.... My sister had a show 2 weeks before she went into labour. Blimey this is kind of real and scary as you are due 2 days before me! I am 33 wks today so you must be 33 + 2?

Ooh regarding bits and bobs and stuff alike, I have discovered hair can grow in a multitude of places never before seen by man nor beast. I am most worried that when I go into labour i will need a poo (god knows why this is worrying me, although I am slightly obsessed by pooing - in secret, can't stand sharing bathrooms other than with DH but that's another story). All scars on tummy look twice as big namely unsightly op scars adn scar above tummy button where my piercing also got an infection! HAVE I WON?????????? Alas, no outy yet and no stretch marks.

Oblomov · 26/09/2008 10:53

Yes sorry, just found the stats thread. ruthy is due 12th nov. so 33+. We all would like our babies to stay in for as long as poss, to benefit growth/ lung development , etc, wouldn't we ?

Before long we might very well be at the stage of having had enough, and wanting them out DESPERATELY.

But hopefully, drugs will not be needed to keep ruthy's baby inside, even for a bit longer.

ruthosaurus · 26/09/2008 10:57

I am hoping it is just the baby being a big comedian - I am a massive drama queen so maybe it's just taking after me...

I bet I go overdue now, after all this fretting.

Also (and feel free to laugh) my only clean trousers this morning were horrid tight ones that hurt, so I don't know if the slight abdominal crampy feeling is my trousers or Something More Alarming. This is all my fault for eating too much cake in the second trimester.

Pinkali, no stretch marks? SO jealous - I have them all over my thighs and look AWFUL.

OP posts:
Pinkali37 · 26/09/2008 11:10

Obs, I agree i want mini me to stay in long enough to be healthy and to have sucking reflex so around 38 weeks would be lovely.

Sauraus- When I said no stretch marks i was talking on my tummy! Top of thighs have them but this was from teenage growth spurt. My mum announced the other day that usually things like stretch marks in pregnancy are a genetic thing (so if your mum has them you are more likely to develop them) so she proudly told me she didn't have any on her tummy. Slightly too soon i showed my excitement at this by shouting "YEY", she then announced that they were all on her boobs instead!!! oh no...

My sister who had her baby 2 weeks ago on Sunday hasn't any and her stomach has gone practically back to normal. This also made me think "yippee" until i realised that my stomach was never anything like hers to start with!!!! another

ruthosaurus · 26/09/2008 11:11

Obs, I have decided to go down the natural route so will say NO to drugs but just ask for a big cork .

I have said nothing to anyone at work as it will doubtless be a false alarm but someone's just come up to me and said "Christ, you look ready to pop". Thanks. A heap.

I tell y'all what, him indoors is definitely spending the whole weekend decorating, if this is a false alarm.

ruthosaurus · 26/09/2008 11:15

By the way, Pinkali, has your niece got a name yet?

OP posts:
Pinkali37 · 26/09/2008 11:16

Oh yes forgot to say. She is called Polly. Middle name yet to be decided.

coolkat · 26/09/2008 11:30

Saurus forget the cork just stand on yer head that will keep the little blighter in a bit longer.

Seriously though take it easy, no decorating or shopping
