Hi ladies, new thread as we seem to have outgrown the old one!

Bugger - mine is spending most of its time on the right...

The positions thing is really funny - I've been spending a lot of time like that while watching telly as it just feels right so it was nice to get that confirmed at antenatal class. I feel really vulnerable and unable to move when on my back, plus it gives me mainline Gaviscon, so why I'd want to give birth like that I don't know. I turned over too quickly onto my back last night and it really hurt.

Erk - one of my colleagues just pointed in horror at my feet, which look like something you'd find on a manatee.

ha, my DH's idea of optimum birth positioning is me trimming the edge of the lawn with hairdressing scissors

and he let me down badly. First thing he said was "hair's nice", followed by "and the glasses". I got him though as he had forgotten about my MW appointment

DS was LOA.....didn't mean much for me in the long term there!!!

Pinkali37 · 25/09/2008 17:24

Can I ask a question please, is it just me that reads the posts, goes to the bottom of the page to reply and then bl**dy forgets what's going on????? It's driving me crazy, my short term memory is awful and apparently doesn't return for another 18 years!

My MIL (FIL died before I met DH) is nce enough. We don't get on with DH's 2 sisters as to be fair they are both NUTTERS! MIL recently had a fall and was in hopsital and due to excess alcohol she has been told to stop driving oh and drinking (she is 74). So she is becoming a little reliant on me! Shopping, picking up tablets etc.. I have done her shopping on the internet and have suggested her getting a bus into town so she can get out and about but she won't do that. Oh well... i can only do so much i'm expecting a baby!!!

Obs am so sorry you are still being poorly.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/09/2008 17:28

fucky fucky fuck fuck.

excuse my french but DD had been pootling back and forward emptying the contents of my handbag and bringing me things. I noticed it had gone a bit quiet so went to investigate and she had managed to get the travel stair gate off the back door and had escaped . thankfully she was in the strawberry patch eating the last few unripe strawberries, but OMG, if she had gone round the side of the house she would've been in the street (we have no side gate). Bad mummy alert

lacks thinks it's time she cut back on her MNetting

Pinkali37 · 25/09/2008 17:31

Lacks - a close one however not a bad mummy. Can you not put rains (omg pregnancy spelling brain??) on her whilst you are mumsnetting? Plus give her some ripe strawberries to east whilst sitting still????????????

ruthosaurus · 25/09/2008 17:35

I think if we all just assume that a certain amount of cross-posting is inevitable and that no-one minds if we don't make any sense we'll be fine, Pinkali! I found myself making notes as I was catching up the other day... but then I am a huge swotty nerd.

Why won't your MIL go on the bus? Is it because that means she really will have no excuse not to drive, or cos she likes seeing you when you sort stuff out for her? Has she not realised you're not at your most energetic and agile either these days? Bless em all, eh?

Dais, you're not a bad mummy - your DD's just got great technical abilities. I am v impressed as I know adults who can't work stairgates. Have a sit down, your heart must be going like mad [puts virtual kettle on and makes virtual cuppa and hug]

Pinkali, I do thta, then can't remmeber and have to scroll to the top.

Lacks, oh dear. An houdini in the making.

Re feet, my normal size is a 4.5, maybe a 5 at a push, because I have g fitting = very wide feet. I am currently wearing a size 7 cheap croc imitation - don't like crocs, never worn them before, think they are cheap and nasty. But these are currently a godsend. Really I need an 8. My feet are THAT swollen.
I too was unable to walk, at all, for the last 3-4 wks of ds pg , because of swollen feet. Hope it doesn't get that bad this time.
I do have 6 wks to go.

Thanks for trying to figure out the positioning ladies, lol! I am identical to cricri then, baby is head down, back was on my right as I look down at my bump (not sure if that is LOA or ROA, lol!) Maybe should have a look on spinning babies.

Daisy, definately not a bad mummy, you obviously just have a very clever dd. I am glad that she is safe though, must have caused you a right fright.

Pinkali, I do the same thing and some days don't even try and keep up. I read everything but forget the post 3 posts back, lol!

Oblomov, keeping my fingers crossed that the sweeling doesn't get too bad this time.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/09/2008 18:50

obs, you need to get your feet up at every opportunity (so leave that ironing alone.....definately no standing for long periods!!). I was advised to effectively sit up in bed at night, with a pile of cushions uder my feet to elevate them. You basically need your feet to be higher then your knees/hips to aid lymphatic drainage....and strangely enough, to drink lots of water....as this will help get rid of the excess fluid. (not sure how that works with your diabetes though).

I have caught up with scrabble now.

We should get some games finished later......MN is going down at 10:30 for a new server installation

sparkletoes · 25/09/2008 19:09

LOL at taking notes RuthO I used to do that too but found that I ended up typing huge posts that either no one read or I lost..!! Or maybe it was just my style that switched everyone off

Know what you mean tho Pinkali I respond in my head when reading then as soon as start typing forget it all...

Think that is just the drawback of having such a lovely chatty thread tho!

I ONLY HAVE A WEEK & A HALF LEFT AT WORK YAAAAAAAAYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 25/09/2008 19:36

I had my first ever (in three pregnancies) unsolicited bump feeler today

I was waiting for DS at pick up time and one of his friends mum's came over (they have been away and only back the last few days so haven't seen her since July). she was making a beeline for me and I could see what she was going to do, but I was sitting down and there was nowhere I could escape to as there was someone either side of me. And she didn;t just feel and then ste back, she kept her hand there and was stroking my belly . All I could say was "oh, is someone getting broody?", but I really wanted to say "get your effing hands off me you weirdy, overly familiar baggage". I don't even know her terribly well either.

urgh

sparkletoes · 25/09/2008 19:53

LOL Lacksa at "get ffing hands off" thought, know what you mean tho it is a bit weird how pregnancy makes you public property!!

chocolategal · 25/09/2008 20:22

hi everyone!
not read through properly so will re post when i have done so
just wanted to reassure cricri, yep my consultant wasnt worried at all when i got my scan at 28weeks, (dilation was 7&8mm)
he said this was still in the normal boundaries and would need no intervention at birth if they stayed the same as this.
will get rechecked at 34weeks.

he did say that boys can get away with a bit more dilation than girls as they are not as prone to urine infections

hopefully you will get reassurance on monday, try not to worry as the numbers that have been said to both you and i, i think worst case scenario would be antibiotics for baby once born. so i would guess that your homebirth should go ahead, hope some of that helps

sorry to everyone else who that doesnt concern

Dozymare · 25/09/2008 20:24

EVENING ALL - hope you are all ok - I am soooo glad that it is not just me who can;t remember who has posted what! I am also dreadful at NOT checking my spelling and grammar - where's a sub when you need them?!!

had a manic day today and last day tomorrow - in a bit of a quandry as have been asked to continue writing my column whilst on Mat.leave.....not sure if I should or not? It only takes approx an hour but I was really really looking forward to doing sod all for the next 6 months....what do you all think????

(BTW, before you go thinking I am a serious journalist, I must add that I write about very frivolous things such as jollies and new handbags.....am not a trained journo at all!)

Pinkyminky - can you email me please???!!! can't find your address!!

Have a loely evening

Dozy xxx

ceebee74 · 25/09/2008 20:39

Ooh Dozy - how exciting - would we be likely to read your column??

Have absolutely no idea who has written what tbh - I started reading the thread an hour ago and then DH came home with a chippy tea (northern thing for all you southerners ) and I got distracted for a while!!

Buzz - glad you are ok about the possibility of another CS - can I say I am a teeny little bit that your baby may make the decision for you about the CS as it is the fact I have to make the decision myself which is currently sending me into a flap.

My baby is LOA at the moment - but DS was up until I went into labour when he suddenly turned back-to-back and (sorry for anyone who is in this position) 'a bit of backache'?? That is one way to describe it anyway

sparkletoes · 25/09/2008 21:05

Yeah Dozy please give away more...!!!

LOL Ceebs, my DS was same didn't want to say anything tho! So much for optimal positioning, they can move in labour anyway either into or out of!!

MerryMarigold · 25/09/2008 21:12

obs, feet sound bad. poor you, i hate that feeling you can feel the water moving when you walk, like jelly feet. i have gone from 3.5 to 5 but it is not bad.

i have been at ikea again. am absoultely shattered. went there to get the tiniest bulbs in the world which no doubt are not available anywhere else, and they are sold out . but did get toys from ds to babies and lacks and pinky, i got the wardrobe things.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/09/2008 21:17

arese merryM. I need to go to IKEA soon, to get the things I forgot the last time. If you email me with what you want, I'll see what I can do. Ours is only a 20 minute drive for me, so not too far at all.

cricri · 25/09/2008 21:20

Dozy I'm also intrigued about your column... I have a similar dilemma - I have a client who pays very well but the work is very sporadic. I was actually contemplating doing the work if it crops up and if baby cooperates... You're all going to tell me I'm mad now I bet!
Chocolategal Measurement today was 12mm

Oblomov · 25/09/2008 21:27

Dozy writes a column ?
God woman, you kept that secret. How exciting. Please tell.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/09/2008 21:32

just be aware that any work during your maternity period, apart from the 10 keep in touch days, can affect your SMP...ie you don't get it.

cricri, hugs lovely. At least they are aware of the potential problems and will deal with it quickly. Doesn't stop you worrying though, I know. {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

LackaDAISYcal · 25/09/2008 21:34

oh, meaning to ask for ages now...

Does anyone else have a raging thirst? I am drinking litres of water every day and am still thirsty....and then of course I just pee it all away, over and over and over again

LackaDAISYcal · 25/09/2008 21:42

you're all here...so what about the scrabble games then?
