Mrs Magpie my stretch marks are a nightmare, especially on my boobs which look hideous. I guess that is what happens when you go up 4 bra sizes in 6 months. Luckily I had a birthday recently and everyone bought me stretch mark cream or body butter so at least my skin feels nice even if it looks horrible.

Lennied - just laughing at your oh thinking he knows everything after reading one book. Mine read some kind of free pampers diary which had one tip in per month of pregnancy and he now thinks he knows more than I do. I would be worried about how little he knows but we have NCT classes in two weeks so he will be forced to learn something.

moosemama · 27/10/2008 22:19

Stripey, glad the banana, dairy etc concoction seems to help the restless legs. I recently added a probiotic drink to my regime and was fine while I was taking Yakult (which taste really foul btw), but the new Muller ones, which are much cheaper and I have a few vouchers for, gave me really painful trapped wind.

I've been having some really excruciating bump pains too, I don't think its braxton hicks as they are too painful and go on for too long. Feels as if my whole bump goes into a sort of painful cramp accompanied by the sort of pain you would get in a leg/calf cramp. Have been in tears several times with it and been kept awake for a few hours at night. Asked my midwife about it and she said she'd never heard anything quite like it but was sure it's nothing to worry about. I thought it was being brought on by my doing too much, but have been resting a lot with all the viruses I've had and the pains still keep happening.

We nearly finished decorating our lounge this weekend. Just the miles and miles of woodwork left to do now.

Went to my sister's 40th birthday party at Mum's today and my Great Nephew (who is 4 months old) was there. He wouldn't settle so I picked him up, gave him a cuddle, patted his back etc and sang to him and he slept wrapped around my bump holding onto my shirt collar for 2 hours. It was a strange feeling holding a little baby again and made me both nostalgic and keen to meet my little one. Actually it was probably the first time I have actually allowed myself to think about what it will be like to have a baby of my own again. Feel like I can't wait to meet her now.

That said, she is still back-to-back and taking every opportunity to do her own version of 'Riverdance' until I literally feel black and blue from the inside out!

Really want her to turn as both boys were btb. DS1 didn't turn, 48hr btb labour and delivery - absolute nightmare and soo painful. DS2 turned after 2 days of contractions but at least had an easy delivery. Am going to order a birthing ball this week as that definitely helped to turn DS2 and failing that will be doing the school run on all fours from now on.

tinkisinthe3rdtrimester · 28/10/2008 08:43

morning

rray baby bits sound great shame about mobile - what does it have on it in terms of animals? i am so chuffed with my nct bargains, especially mobile - does different animal tunes, animals sounds and lights and has a remote control.
fluffy farm animals hang down.

mm - poor you with pain hope that it eases

rrrayray · 28/10/2008 10:05

Tink- This is the mobile we bought www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-deluxe-musical-mobile-once-upon-a-time/756016000/type-i/ How the writing is upside down is beyond me!!

Tomorrow we are going home(we recently moved to Suffolk from Brighton & Still call it home(oh has day off)) and meeting both sets of parents at our Wedding venue to taste foods. We're then going to an independent baby shop nearby that i have wanted to order our pram from. We're going for the Out & About "nipabout" in Raspberry... Very Exciting. We're also getting our Maxi Cosi Car seat, and Two bases (expensive, but worth it for ease!) one Isofix, one not. We will pay for them tomo and then they will order it all in & one of our parents will bring them up once they are in when they're next up to visit.

Then all we really have left is a Massive mothercare order. I've been on their website and saved everything i think i want/need (with help from the lists posted by you lovely ladies) but my oh my does it add up! But with the wish list, i'm told that if people want to buy us presents, say for Chrismas they can search our names & see our wish list, then buy somehting off the wish list!! Hmm.. Helpful!

Moosemama- Sounds Painful....Hope gets better!

Miss hairspray- i havent yet got stretch marks, but its only a matter of time, as my poor belly skin feels so stretched it feels like its about rip. i'm trying not to get too hung up on it, as i was thinking to myself the other day how often does anyone see my Boobs or belly.... never, unless its my belly on holiday & then the only person that really sees it is OH and well- He put me in the position!!! Try not to get too down about it & Also, they say while they are still pink they can be reduced alot... so keep covering yourself in those Lotions!!!

Our oil is being delivered as i speak, so we'll have Heating again & not be relying on the wood fire 247!! Hurrah. Phone line has Also been fixed, Hurrah!

liznay · 28/10/2008 10:57

Hi Everyone,

Please can I join in??
I'm due 8th Jan 09 although my mum was 10 days overdue with me so god knows what date i'll actually deliver on.

Is anyone else just feeling really unattractive at the moment? I've got a 'beard' of acne, i'm so pale due to not having a sunbed or holiday for months and feeling fat and lumpy.
Other than that, really enjoying pregnancy

MrsMagpie · 28/10/2008 13:56

Hi Liznay, Welcome!

I had a giggle fit with my OH last night because I look like a pagan fertility doll. All Boobs Bump and Bum. The humour has worn off now and I feel like a whale.

Has anyone else had lots of comments on the size of their bump? I just want to scream at them of course i'm huge I'm nearly 8 months pregnant!!!! Still managing to smile sweetly by some miracle.

I only seem to have stretch marks on the bump but they are pretty gruesome. They are now up to my belly button and it doesn't seem to matter how much cream I slather on.

Liznay, I've been more spotty than I was as a teenager. Hair is pretty crap and all my nails are crumbling. I'm still waiting to bloom

MrsMagpie · 28/10/2008 14:06

Chefswife i'm so jealous of your spa day. A friend asked me to go swimming with her but I can't deal with the preparations. I'm going to have to deal with it at some point but it's going to be ridulouly hard work.

LenniEd, so funny your OH is an expert too. Mine likes to look up everything on the internet. I've been suffering with breathless moments so he did some reasearch and diagnosed me at home. 'All perfectly normal for your stage' I think i rather hurt his feelings when I said I'd rather get it checked out by the doctor. We also have the blokes guide and it really helped in the beginning. I'd recomend it to every couple.

rrrayray · 28/10/2008 15:02

Linzay- Yay for newbie!! I've had pregnancy Acne from about 3 months. Its on chin, but its at its worst on my Back! Thank goodness for the winter months & my back not being seen! My Doc Put me on 10 days of antibotics, and it cleared up almost completely, but of course as soon as the course was over- i was back to mrs spotty! He doesn't want to leave me on antibotics and assures me will clear up once bubba arrives! So looks like there is hope!

Mrs Magpie- YES everyone seems to have a comment to make about seemingly every pregnant womans bump. Mine is the opposite "oh my Goodness your tiny, is there a baby in there"... its horrid because it makes me feel like i'm not growing her properly or something!? My Midwife is more than happy and shes spot on in Scans... So shove them & their unwanted opinions!

Just incase anyone wants a few bits, just picked up a Gorgeous pink pram suit and blanket with my Sainsburys shopping... They currently have 1/3 off all baby clothing & accessories. Some Very cute stuff!!!

Brrrrrrrr its Chilly Today!! xx

rrrayray · 28/10/2008 15:05

Oh & i just ordered her moses basket. i got home to find a cheque from my parents, who had wanted to pay for her moses basket as a gift to her. They sent enough for the basket, stand, and some bedding which is cute! I opted for the "special one" basket from mothercare, which is Dark Wicker rather than the usual light, so will go with our bedroom furniture better & just looks a bit Different! That said, its actually out of stock until Nov. 10th, so i've pre- ordered as such!!!

Are those of you who work (sorry to rub it in that i've been lucky enough not to have to) almost at maternity leave time?? Massive sympathies for you if your sat at your desk... i'm so tired all the time & i am not bound by the old 9-5.... let alone a Commute!! Hat off to you!!

moosemama · 28/10/2008 15:51

Hi and welcome Liznay.

Don't seem to have got any new stretch marks as yet and luckily the old ones are still silvery white. I'm not being complacent though, as I thought I'd got away with it with DS1 but found out after delivery that they were all under my bump where I couldn't see them. Got them all over with DS2 and am sure there's still plenty of time with this one!

My boys are so excited that it's snowing heavily outside! They keep running up and down the stairs to give me updates on what they can see out of their bedroom window. Both are now desparate for Daddy to come home and go in the garden with them.

Some good news at last! DH got his full bonus plus had done a couple of small freelance jobs this month, so it looks like we will have a Christmas after all (and be able to buy all the rest of the baby bits).

Not sure, but think madam has turned round again, only getting kicks down my right side now so think she is anterior with back down the left-hand side. Now, if she can just stay there for the next 9 and a half weeks that would be great!

Having a complete 'mare with people setting fireworks off at ridiculously times. Our collie cross is absolutely petrified of them and tries everything she can to escape whenever one goes off. Last night it was 1.30 and 2.30 am and she was trying to dig her way out of the lounge door. Have ordered her some herbal tranquillisers, usually remember to start a few weeks before bonfire night, but has taken me by surprise this year.

Have been looking at pushchairs again, not sure whether to go for the same one (Mamas and Papas 03 Sport) or not. Have been looking at the Baby Jogger range. The City Mini looks good for the bus and around town and also has universal car-seat adapters which accept our car seat, but doesn't have pneumatic tyres. The next ones up, the Classic and Elite, are supposedly suitable from birth and do everything, but can't seem to get a clear answer about whether they are suitable from birth without a basinette. They seem to get fantastic reviews in the UK and USA and have such a unique and easy folding technique, am very tempted, but unsure which of the three to go for. Anyone have any experience of them?

ray, am so jealous of you getting your baby's room all sorted. It sounds lovely. Despite sorting out the old study and getting rid of tonnes of stuff, decorating and equipping it is currently in the queue behind finishing the lounge, having the boiler replaced and decorating our bedroom (once the boiler had been moved out of it). At the moment it is just an empty room, badly in need of decorating and full of bags from mothercare etc.

I'm not complaining though, am really happy with lounge decor. Haven't used Farrow and Ball before and it's given the room a lovely soft sort of glow.

Gosh, what a huge post, sorry, I seem to be doing that a lot lately - just got so much in my head and spending far too much time on my own.

liznay · 28/10/2008 16:49

ahh thanks for the welcome.
I thought my fiancee said I was blooming the other night, but it turned out he said I was ballooning
I travel around a lot as a medical rep and took the opportunity to have a good look at my skin today in the rear view mirror whilst the sun was out and I could get a good look. I was horrified to find an inch long black hair growing out of my neck what is all that about???
I'm convinced i'm having a boy because of all these male hormones!!!

MrsMagpie - everyone spent the first 29 weeks of my pregnancy saying how small I look, now everyone says I'm huge. You can't win can you??

rrrayray - I too have the spots on my chin, neck boobs and back, it really is disgusting and my OH has gone right off me. I go to bed at night in pyjamas that make me look like one of the silent night hippos, slathered in spot cream so its no wonder really....

tinkisinthe3rdtrimester · 28/10/2008 18:05

hi

rray mobile is gorgeous
welcome liznay
mrs magpie - people keep saying that i am huge think it is beacausei am petite and all bump i measure correct for dates

elkiedee · 28/10/2008 18:10

Welcome liznay

LenniEd · 28/10/2008 20:12

Welcome Liznay

Really am going to have to get cracking on the nursery (how many times have I said that now?? ) after you all sound so much more organised that us. We have no paint on the walls, just lining paper and no furniture in there except DDs cot, which is crammed full of cot bedding and other stuff we've brought down from the loft. I am beginning to think the Christmas trimmings will be up before we get round to sorting out the nursery!

Oh, and BTW I think there are a lot of catty women out there who enjoy saying how huge a pregnant woman looks - I am nowhere near as big as I was with DD and yet have still been told how enormous I look and am dead on for dates so am sure some women just enjoy being a bit cruel

HeathersMummy · 28/10/2008 22:00

Welcome Liznay
Well, I've only 1 more week to go at work then my maternity leave kicks in - I only work Mondays and Tuesdays anyway. Had to say goodbye to some colleagues today as they're off on holiday next week, and I have to admit I was a bit teary. I think I'm going to be in a bit of a state next Tuesday when I have to say goodbye to everyone. I'm really lucky in that I work for a bank and get loads of time off - I'll go back January 2010 Fantastic!!
Been having loads and loads of braxton hicks over the last few days, and got a bit concerned last night when they were every 15 mins and a good bit stronger than before - but they seem to have died back a bit now. I didn't get any with DD so this is all new to me. Baby is just kicking lumps out of me now.
DH says I look full term already and I've still 9 weeks to go....joy!
Take care all x

stripeywoollenhat · 28/10/2008 23:10

heathersmum - so jealous of your maternity leave, will be plugging away at work till christmas (desperately trying to find a way to sit on my chair which is comfortable if the last few days are anything to go by..). but would rather keep the time off to spend with little one, hoping to stay out of work till october 09...

liznay, welcome. think hair growth is not based on sex of small one - mine is growing like mad, which is good in the case of eyelashes, but not otherwise - and i am expecting a girl...

lennied - i'm going with your people are just mean read on bump size... cos otherwise i'm clearly expecting triplets, two of whom are invisible....

Shanster · 29/10/2008 01:49

Nevermind women being catty, a GUY I work with looked me up and down today then said 'damn, you look like you are ready to pop'...this comment won him a very evil look. I've been in a terrible mood for the past week and I do think that my bum has started to expand more than I would like.
I am working right up until my delivery date but I am cutting back to a normal 40 hour week as of next week...I worked nearly 80 last week and I am just too tired now. The exhaustion just hits me like a wall every now and then.....

MsSparkle · 29/10/2008 08:55

Morning,

Dp got all of dd's baby clothes out of the loft and all her baby stuff; moses basket, baby bath, swing etc. I couldn't believe how tiny everything was! You really do forget how small newborns are.

I don't really need to buy alot for the new baby because i already have most of it. We picked up the new pushchair which is a phil & teds one. I figured it's the most practical one for a new baby and a toddler.

I have only bought a load of new bibs and 3 sleep suits for the baby. Will probably have to buy new bottles, looking at dd's baby bottles i figure it's probably best to get new.

Went to a relaxtation class yesterday morning. I enjoyed it although i was one of three people who had children, all the rest were first time mums.

All these spots and strange hair everyone is getting The joys of pregnancy!

tinkisinthe3rdtrimester · 29/10/2008 09:12

morning

heathersm - wow maternity leave not long

ms s - it is exciting sorting through old bits.
have washed all of dds old soft toys are in cot and toy box.
have bought sleepsuits are tiny
i bought mam bpa free bottles on the net x8

moosemama · 29/10/2008 09:36

Morning all

Tink, I was thinking of getting the MAM bpa free bottles. Had Avent for both boys but don't want to use them this time because of the bpa thing. The only thing is I couldn't decide between the anti-colic ones that have several pieces (thinking about all the cleaning with those as if you dismantle 6 bottles you have 36 piece to clean!) or the basic ones with just a valve (are they called silk or something?) Which ones did you go for?

Alternatives are the Tommee Tipee, Born Free or Babisil ones (Dr Brown's look too fiddly to clean).

Am finding it really hard to make decisions at the moment, probably spent too long on the net and read too much. Information overload = buying paralysis!

I take my hat off to all of you who are still at work. I don't know how you do it, I seem to need so much rest these days I would be asleep at my desk if it was me. I realise I have been so lucky to never work past 22 weeks as was signed off with severe SPD with DS1 at that stage (haven't been back to work since and that was nearly 7 years ago!).

Feeling a lot brighter today after actually sleeping for a change. DH says he slept better too but was woken up several times by me sleeptalking! Apparently I was very cross about something but he couldn't work out what. Actually that fits in well with my mood yesterday which was evil to say the least.

Periwink · 29/10/2008 09:43

Hello Liznay.

Oh yes everyone comments on the size of my bump - I also sepnt the 29 weeks of pregnancy being told how tiny I was for my dates - then yesterday a stranger asked me if I was having twins - oh please, really, talk about knocking someone down when they are having a particularly feel good day!

I am in the super charge nesting phase at the moment and as we move into our new house mid January I am already packing up household items into boxes - husband think I am losing the plot. Which to be honest I feel I am ..... yesterday had to be stopped by a sales assistant for nearly walking out of the shop with an item I had not payed for - luckily she saw the funny side of it, I was horrified for a second and then just laughed! Seriously i am suffering so badly form absent mindness and just doing all these daft things oh and have so many bumps and bruises from bumping into things! Is anyone else giddy with lauhter at the moment - oh god it does sound like I should go to the looney house.....

Morning all,

Have done a big 'baby' shop online at Sainsburys as they are running the 1/3rd off all baby items promotion.
Have stocked up on nappies, wipes, breast pads, bottles, calpol, etc etc.
Have saved over £35 which is great!
Although am starting to worry that I may have a giant baby and not fit in to any of the newborn size 1 nappies i've bought!

I've gained 1.5 stone so far with 5lbs of that in the last 3 weeks - does this sound normal ?? (i'm at week 30)
Mind you, i'm, having serious chocolate and cake cravings and have been a little bit piggy recently.
Must eat more fruit, must eat more fruit

Periwink - why is it as soon as you become PG perfect strangers feel its ok to comment on your size ? and as for family, i've been called a porker, a wide load and fattie!!!
I'm buying some ear muffs!

MsSparkle · 29/10/2008 11:41

liznay i have gained a stone and a half and i'm 30 weeks. I read in my book that it's about right to have gained that amount at this stage
