mama - glad minimama is ok.... its so reassuring isnt it?

I am seeing the registrar at the hospital on monday too to discuss options - I assume that means a sweep or date for induction??

Get some rest - hosptal visits are so tiring.

mamamufin · 19/09/2008 18:40

Keep on eating bec you need the energy.

Yup monday is for sweep, monitoring and to discuss how long I can safely go before induction.

Thanks mamamufin. Really feeling for you with the monitoring stuff going on. I am feeling good but still on totally restricted movement to give this thing the best chance of healing. Can't wait to get out and about though!

Oh monki I feel for you, a very similar (but much milder!) thing happened to me yesterday - went to get dd from her nap and she was sitting up in her cot, fully out of her sleeping bag...and sitting on but crucially not in her dirty nappy. So I see I got off quite lightly compared to you!!

Saw midwife today, head is 1/5 engaged, its measuring 37cm at 39 weeks, and she showed me how to feel the head myself, it was really cool! I was able to ask her about a worry I've had which is that I have a small but VERY painful spot near my perinium (oh this is turning into a TMI post...) which has made getting dh's prostaglandins into me a non-event and it bled slightly last night. Thankfully its not a cyst or a wart or anything to worry about, and I'm guessing that when I'm pushing the baby out, the pain of the spot being aggravated will be the least of my worries!

Going out for a hot hot curry tonight which dh has ordered on line which he finds too exciting for words so I have to post this so he can check the status of the order!

carrieon · 19/09/2008 19:22

Oh and I'm booked in for a potential sweep on Monday 29th which is the day after my due date...hopefully I'll have had the baby by then though and the next time I see my community midwife will be at the post-natal visit! I can but dream

carrieon · 19/09/2008 19:25

me again, hope you do get to have the baby naturally mama, I know it means a lot to you to have a more positive birth this time. And ponymum you look positively glamorous on the operating table, and Sarah is beautiful! I've been meaning to ask...what's her middle name? You made a passing comment on a post before she was born about giving a slightly embarrassing one, but never revealed what it is! Or are you not going to tell?

lizzyleek · 19/09/2008 19:45

I don't think i have over done it i'm bored stupid! not had anything to do, the pains were pretty sudden on the way to school but nothing more has come of them, just an achy tum. i have kind of accepted that flump is going to be overdue as long as i don't have to be induced it's fine, bored but fine! if I go overdue i think my sweep will be 03/10/08 (thats my next hospital appointment)will just have to wait and see!!

splishsplosh · 19/09/2008 20:34

Mamamufin - glad to hear babymufin was OK

Ponymum - agree you look v glamorous and your baby is beautiful

Starlight - I hadn't even thought of the risks of the combination of cough and a sharp needle - I'm hoping I'm at least slightly on the mend, I haven't actually vomited today, hooray!

Feeling quite let down by potential supportees at the moment - p is off doing his own thing most of the time, doesn't even manage to charge / answer his phone half the time, and is being totally unreliable right now. His mum offered to look after dd when I go into labour - first they booked a holiday for the first 2 weeks of September even though dd was early, now they're back, but again, not the greatest about answering the phone - thank goodness I have some helpful friends and a doula.

AND the electrician is still here! Last week he said worst case scenario, would be finished this Wednesday - now he is saying hopes will be finished by end of next week. I'm going to have to fake some labour pains I think to get him moving.

MelT76 · 19/09/2008 20:44

So....another afternoon ast the hospital beinf monitored. MW came out and BP was high and proterin in urine, so of she sent me.

3 hrs today and nothing! Doc offered another sweep but as only had 1 yesterday didn't bother (he said baby was iminent anyway) and sent me home.

Still getting some pains in lower bump and back so hoping that turns into something.

foxy if you get a chance to look and you're not fed up with being hassled with bf questions I've just put a big post on the postnatal thread with lots of questions.

foxytocin · 19/09/2008 21:09

answered already.

ninja · 19/09/2008 21:24

Mel keeping my fingers crossed.

LeonieD it's good to hear that you're feeling mopre positive - that's more likely to make a positive outcome. Is tonight the night, hope your DH is in a better mood!

sagecat · 19/09/2008 21:37

Hi, just checking in - I was expecting a wave of birth announcements by the time i checked the thread this evening - oh well i bet we get them tomorrow

Had BH most of the day again, including some really nasty ones. I've simply given up expecting them to turn in to anything more labour related. Can only manage to walk at a snails pace and had to physically go up the stairs on hands and knees to day as the cramps were so bad (with the pain killers) Do you think I could get my own private gas and air supply to the house?

There are a few descriptions on this thread anbout how to do it.

I can't believe I'm repeating this - but did you try you on hands and knees (rest head on pillow for confort) and him ... well you can guess the rest. I find it's the only comfortable way, and DH thinks it's a treat so win win

blimey · 20/09/2008 00:13

Dh and I have 'discovered' a way through trial and error. start out in spoons position, lift your top leg out of the way and adjust your position to half way towards moving onto your back while he move his upper body away from your upper body but his hips and important bit move in. You both sort of end up in a figure X Or is it Y. His upper leg also ends up on top of you and gives you something to hold onto. Most comfy and effective for me and him. I am amazed at how active we have become in this position.

why am i telling you all this at half past 3 in the morning. Oh, dd's coughing woke me and she doesn't want to use her asthma pump.

ninja · 20/09/2008 05:11

Thanks Blimey - didn't think I'd get beaten to it today!

Can't find a name for Minkersmum's LO.

Can't sleep, but listened to my Natalhypnotherapy CD which sent DH off! It's snet me to sleep the last few times, but I guess at least I listened to it this time.

Foxy, hope your DD's OK.

Speak to you all in the morning
